  1. Just search for Sansar and you'll be rewarded with lots of information and mostly opinion about Linden lab's new venture into it's next 3D and Virtual Space. IMHO - Sansar does not appear to be a replacement of Second Life.
  2. Scarlett, I've been researching this and many issues regarding the use of music within Second Life [DJ managed & otherwise] to be published as an article for public consumption very soon. During my research I have contacted BMI & ASCAP and the found their opinion as to the purpose of having correct meta-tags regarding song play is to assist in the proper documentation of songs played by specific artists licensed under BMI & ASCAP royalty agreement's. These bits of data may optionally be broadcast to the listener but as you will have no doubt observed only a limited subset of this information is ever shown on radio equipment or software players. This is because the meta data is filtered out of the broadcast stream. BMI & ASCAP utilize self-generated very detailed playlist logs that are voluntarily submitted by those owning a broadcast license agreement with one of these agencies. This is how the artists receive their % of the royalty payments collected on a per-play basis. EDIT: Many SL and Real World Artists issue their performance media under a Commons License Agreements that allow limited rebroadcasting of their performances [under the fair use provision language] rather than registering with BMI & ASCAP etc. Generally my findings indicate that regarding the Second Life GRID, there is no current standing legal precedence that requires DJ's or Virtual Brick & Mortar Clubs and Malls to obtain a license to broadcast music at this time. Not that this is not being looked at by someone somewhere as a future licensing source of income. In the Real World, the [public place] Venue or licensed Terrestrial or Internet Radio business is completely responsible for obtaining this license. Per the current definitions of venue, technically, the Linden Lab Virtual GRID and the associated Viewer are the enabling tools allowing the locating of and listening to music broadcasts by its residents, Yet they do not directly allow for the playback of music. All they do is to enable the transfer of the broadcast URL & Port of the sound source that is ultimately listened to by the included FMOD playback software and/or any 3rd party player used by the PC owner. Generally, our use of music is is not for broadcast to a larger Internet audience versus the charter of most Internet Radio Stations [for profit & non-profit]. Note: eventually this definition may be expanded to include what we do as SL DJs'. Thus at this time, SL DJs are not currently classified as radio station operators [internet or Terrestrial ] per-se. NOTE - Relay Service Providers are also not required to report or even collect music playlists as they are sheltered under the safe harbor provisions as service providers and not content creators. So we as Virtual World DJs don't fall under any FCC Broadcast regulations as of yet. Recorded Music broadcasting is not covered under DMCA regulations. Recorded Music broadcasting is the domain of the Royalty Licensing Agencies. Sooner or later our specific way of presenting music to a very small variable and limited virtual audience will be addressed by the Royalty Agencies. At this time this licensing is Venue [Linden Lab] specific - [not a virtual club specific as virtual venues have no legal definition for this purpose as of yet.] I should have all the information collected in a few weeks to complete and publish my more detailed article with a complete bibliography and appendix of supporting documents. So in the meantime, do all the recording artists a big favor. Buy their CDs & Digital offerings. Load up your personal music libraries with this music so that they hopefully will receive some royalty payments from their contract agreements with their distribution companies. Go to their live concerts. [and to finally answer your question:] 1) SL DJs are under no requirement to broadcast meta-data about the music they play over the virtual air. However 2) If you choose to, please make sure that the song name and artist information meta-tags are correct so others will know what they are listening to and will likewise purchase these performances as well. It's tacky to use downloaded You-Tube music with misspelled and incorrect attributions and let your Broadcasting Software just guess at the information to displayed. The free MP3TAG - The universal tag editor - http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ is an excellent tool to clean up your music library from the scourge of lame meta data tags. NOTE: There is NO case law where a SL DJ has been brought to court regarding streaming music into an Sl venue. I spent a lot of time reviewing the Lexis/Nexus Legal databases looking for any of these anecdotal cases mentioned in SPAM NCs being sent about. There are plenty of settled cases where an Internet Radio Station operator has been requested to license up and most have as the result of legal proceedings being threatened. So if you run one of these, contact BMI & ASCAP and get your annual license so you can run your radio station legally.
  3. ..at the Old folks Home? ---- Rim Shot No really, your chat logs are found at the end of this path...using my PC and account as an example C:\Users\<WindowsUserId>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\karenmichelle_lane There will a text log for each avatar and group.

The owner says that I hit up on his alt, which I didn't. My only guess is that someone I've pissed off made some stuff up in retaliation. I just want my money back at this point. Hmmm, so the owner has alts making bids to drive up the selling price, sounds like a sound business practice to me. Not to mention collecting cash for the bids before the auctioned item is won. That part is typical and is handled by scripts. You pay the board your bid. If you are outbid, the script pays you back. Exactly correct. If you paid a bid board and the auction has completed and you have not received your Lindens or your purchased item then you have a case of Fraud that is reportable. If you paid someone directly......yeah, Caveat Empty Pockets
  5. This is considered a personal avatar to avatar disagreement. Linden Lab will not get involved. A nice NC to the Auction House owner/manager may help. Remember, you can be banned anytime for anything or for no reason at all. Land owners retain all rights to access. Otherwise, If the bids auto fulfill, then if you lose the bid your L$ should be returned to you automatically. If you win the bid your purchase may likewise be delivered to you. Did you read the rules of participation for that Auction House? There may be information in them to aid you.
  6. Delete the Windlight Settings References - An adult word is formed with them as a prefix as they are: RE: Part of the virtual diocese of the Roman Catholic church; open to all of good will for access to the chapel, Our Lady of Sorrows Stations and the vineyard, and more. Relax, wander, pray and play. /*Windlight Sky: "[AnaLu] default3" Water: "Default"*/
  7. As a DJ, when I arrive at a club and start my set one of the things I look for is the "Attached" to my stream count. This tells me the number of people in the club actually listening to my show. If I see a low number of unique attachments and a large number of non-unique [as my scripted software reports listeners with duplicate IP Addresses] I let the on site manager know and I ask are we using management accounts to boost out numbers a bit? I don't have an issue with this but if we don;t then I will mention that we may have someone parking a large number of ALTs here for some reason. What the manager does with this information is up to them. I just know to be more vigilant when I walk into this kind of set. Most of the time nothing comes of this but a few times the gut feeling is correct about trouble makers.
  8. Dellon, Stopping an annoying individual is easy, you already know to Ban and Block this person as they present themselves to you. How they perform the magic of "Knowing" what you do and where you are is not really a mystery. I see that you have chosen to make you Profile "Sparse" of content and that will limit the generally available information someone can obtain about you. Typically this includes the groups you are in [and of course what kind of things these groups represent] which tells the casual observer what you are interested in. Your Picks is empty as well. I'm assuming you have Group Memberships but you have chosen to hide them from the profile. So what is a stalker to do? Well at one time you became interesting enough to them for them to know where you live and/or like to hang out. Once the bottle is opened you can't close it again. Why? Because your stalker knows what groups you may be in by previous associating. This knowledge dowsn't go away. So if your stalker is a member of any group you are in they can review the last time you logged into SL. That helps then to identify your in-world patterns. One of your stalkers many ALTs can keep tabs on you if you frequent entertainment clubs or ever Role Play areas that your group memberships identify and so on. My point being, you really can't hide unless you have a disassociated ALT account that plays elsewhere. On the knowing where you've gone and what your saying to friends point I have this to offer... If your tormentor is providing you with word for word chat logs of your conversations sent via a private IM to others then you can certainly take it to the bank that: 1) You have a listening device [script] that interfaces with your parcel or viewer in some way. [unlikely] 2) You have foolishly turned on RLV and accepted a RLV enabled object whereby you no longer have any privacy because all communication passes through that object. [Typically a collar or other body attached device] [More Likely] 3) [Most Likely] You have a trusted friend in you circle that is a class 1 head case. [More likely] I've personally experienced 1) & 3) Generally your account is safe from prying eyes as are your chat logs. I'm betting one of you friends is the owner of these ALTs. Weeding out the culprit will take some vigilance but is doable.
  9. from: https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Friends-and-partnering/ta-p/700067 Note: The link to accept the proposal is in the email sent to your intended. Partnering Second Life couples can make their relationships official. Whether you're married or just connected, you can designate your partner on your profile inworld and make your relationship visible to the rest of the community. Note: Creating a partnership costs each partner L$10. Partnership is a vanity display for social purposes only. It does not alter inworld permissions, group abilities, support benefits, and so forth. For example, if you are on a Premium account and your partner is on a Basic account, he or she will not receive any Premium benefits. Partnering also does not affect your Second Life username. Nor does it entitle you to share their Second Life account; sharing accounts is against the Second Life Terms of Service. For more information, see Sharing or transferring Second Life accounts. How to make someone your partner To make someone your partner, follow these steps: Go to the Partners page. Enter your Partner's username. Type in your Proposal to your to-be partner. It can be a love letter, song lyrics, or whatever suits the both of you best. Click Send Proposal. Your potential partner is notified at the email address linked with their Second Life account. He or she has seven days to accept. Once the proposal is accepted, your names appear in one another's profiles. The partnership email should be received in seconds. Please check your spam folder and other email filters to make sure it isn't being hidden. If you receive a partnership request you wish to decline, you can do so on the Partners page. How to end a partnership The person who "divorces" is charged L$25. Follow this procedure to dissolve a partnership: Open the Partners page. Select "I, (your name), would like to dissolve my partnership with (your partner's name)." Click Submit. Your partnership is dissolved and your now-ex-partner is notified. Once you have dissolved a partnership, you can recreate it by following the procedure previously outlined and paying the L$10 again. Partnership history Your Viewer profile does not show you the date you started your partnership, so keep your original partnership request (sent via email) if you wish to have a record of the date.
  10. I'm going to take a chance here and answer this question as if you have typed: [ OK I created a LM [landmark] on particular spot on my parcel and when it is used the person arrives on another spot on the Parcel ] That problem happens when you have the Parcel Option Teleport Routing: set to [ Landing Point ] of which there can only be one set per parcel at a time Change Parcel Option Teleport Routing: to [ Anywhere ] That should take care of you if this is your actual problem.
  11. Kimmy, From https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Password-and-account-information/ta-p/700017 ... What to do if you forget your password If you know your username but have forgotten your password, go to the password recovery page. Enter your username and click Send Instructions to have instructions on how to create a new password sent to the email address connected to the account . You'll need to answer the security question you chose when creating your Second Life account. Be sure to check your junk mail/spam folder. If you can't recall the answer to your security question or no longer have access to the e-mail account you provided, just contact Customer Support, preferably by opening a support case. You'll be asked to verify your identity and, working together, we can reset your security question. We apologize in advance that support cannot retrieve passwords. Luckily, this won't be an issue once we reset your security question.
  12. The staff at Linden Lab will not give out I.P. Addresses to any account holders, period. If presented with a subpoena or Order to Comply from the correct legal authority's, then they may disclose Account Holder I.P. addresses to the requesting agencies. Additionally, If Linden Lab chooses to restrict or to ban an I.P. Address that is their business in resolving one or more issues related to T.O.S. Violations and the like. BTW: In the US there are not many specific local laws that prevent/restrict the disclosure of I.P. addresses. Most businesses adopt the position of not providing this information as a matter of Customer Privacy.

  15. The only Dell Inspiron laptop suitable for high-end gaming and SecondLife is the 7000 series: http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-7559-laptop/pd?ref=PD_OC It starts at $749.99 and goes up from there. I has a custom cooling system specifically designed for running a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5 GPU at a high performance level. All others in the Dell Inspiron laptop stable are suitable for Minecraft level of graphics rendering. These can run SL but at substantially reduced rendering rate. Flashing on a laptop usually indicates that you have forced Hardware Skinning on and the GPU is just not up to the task. Turn this feature off and you should find the SL Viewer behaves again. BTW in the Dell Inspiron 5000 series there is one unit that features the AMD Radeon R5 M335 4GB DDR3 GPU which should also work OK with SL at a higher performance level.
  16. Cuando se quita toda su ropa y se sigue mostrando la ropa interior a continuación, usted está usando una piel de "seguridad". Esto no está diseñado para convertirse en nude. Es necesario que adquiera una máscara del mercado o de un comerciante en el mundo. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you remove all your clothing and you still see underwear then you are wearing a "Safety" skin. This is designed never to allow you to become nude. You need to purchase a skin from the MarketPlace or from an in-world merchant.

  18. If you are having issues downloading this installation file then you need to turn off any anti-malware software that is monitoring your downloads. If you don't have any installed then you need to get your PC cleaned up as you have an active malware infection that is designed to keep you from downloading .exe's thinking that you are trying to disinfect your PC. Otherwise So far any issues with the current release of the Viewer are easily corrected by performing a Clean Installation. https://secondlife.com/support/downloads?lang=en-US Second Life Release Viewer version 4.0.4.314579 Released on April 28, 2016. https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231 Look in the comments section for Windows 8.1 & Windows 10 specific instructions. If you are still having log in issues then try removing your Display Name, especially if you use special characters or fonts. Many have been made illegal with the version 4 release of the SL Viewer.

  20. You can use the Radegast text Viewer http://radegast.org/wiki/Radegast_Download and then try to clean up your avatar state. Log in & activate the None group, and remove any suspect attached items. Also, if you have special characters in your Display Name you might want to revert to no Display Name to see if one of your characters or fonts recently became not allowed by the SL Viewer.

  22. You can't upload a full piano performance in any useful manner into your inventory. Sound clips are limited to 10 seconds each You can however broadcast your complete performances via a relay service like DJs and live performers do. There are relay service providers that allow you to upload up to 1 gb or more of music that will auto-play on your account. Then all you need to do it place that service URL & Port into your Parcel Sound field and all who come to your parcel will hear your performances. The fees for these services usually start at L$400/mo and go up from there. I'm not allowed to post those providers here but you can find then easily enough in world or on the Market Place. A more complicated solution involves you becoming your own broadcaster & relay service. That's out of the scope of my answer here but there are posts that will guide you through this process in the Forums.
