  1. Sion Pearl wrote: So the settings should be the same, right? You've worked out your different 'show' and 'hide' settings and put them in your listen and touch event-handlers. That's fine. I would have thought you would want either of those settings in your attach() too, that's all. As you have it the visible-glowy things will look completely different when you first wear them (that's when the attach event is raised). It's not terribly important though - they'll only look different until you chat /9 show or hide. Don't sweat it, one step at a time is the way to work it all out.
  2. You're welcome and good luck. Now - would you like the technical details of how the "~ball" script works in MLP2? (I'm kidding, but that's the sort of thing we do here!) Hmmm - I've just looked at my inventory and I do actually have a copy of MLP2. It's quite possible that the "~ball" from that will work with your bed. Get yourself in-world and IM me. I'll come over and talk you through how to put it in the bed.
  3. Well as Claireschen said your best bet is to contact the creator of the bed or whoever sold it to you. While I'd understand the scripts involved I don't know how to explain in enough detail for you to tell us which scripts are actually in the thing! Everything in SL is 'custom' so it's unlikely that anyone reading this will say "oh yeah, that bed uses ... this is what you do". There are, however, only 3 or 4 popular, and free!, animation systems used in SL so that chances are someone will be able to identify which you have,
  4. There is llResetOtherScript() (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlResetOtherScript) but that only works within a single prim. It would be possible to build a script-injector around this to work in all prims in the object but it's never going to be as easy as just using menus!
  5. "~ball" should be in the bed's contents, along with a number of scripts and a notecard or two. You can see what's there by right-clicking the bed, selecting 'edit' from the menu and then clicking the 'contents' tab in the edit window. The bed's script is complaining that it needs to rez "~ball" in order to work but that it doesn't have one in contents. I realise now I'm not sure how to identify which scripts your bed is using, so I can't tell which replacement would help. I hope someone else can be more useful.
  6. If I remember properly the "~ball" is rezzed to sit on in nPose and MLP. If there is no such thing in the bed's contents you're probably a bit stuck. This is your first post so I have to ask - what scripting experience do you have? (I accept it could be massive but I'm not sure how to pitch any advice in case you are new to SL)
  7. In case any confusion is caused by my comment to Darkie, or his chuckle, scripters may like to know that it's an in-joke refering to our competition to fulfill this commission: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Wanted/Wanting-a-Script-For-the-Following/td-p/789915
  8. Some prefer torii, some rings. It all begins with a prim :smileywink: Beyond that 'best' is too subjective to say, versatile could mean you want it to cook dinner and compatible with what? Combat-collars R us do a nice line in magic-spell collars, I believe and have CCS compatibility.
  9. Venus Petrov wrote: We have been told that mods not only work weekend hours, but also overnight. Indeed, I have been online at midnight at seen them working. Of course, my midnight is California's 4pm so I hope LL have had the sense/ability to engage people from different timezones for maximum availability. Are they employees or volunteers, by the way? I reallly know nothing about them apart from their contribution
  10. Contact the 'right organisation' and ask if they have an agreement with the person/group in question. If not then that person/group probably shouldn't be using their name anyway. It's tougher, of course, if they merely "will pass the proceeds to ...". In that case, how would you check in RL? It's one of the reasons I don't give to street-collectors* [*I need all my streets]
  11. While I agree with you, it is possible to be sued by celebs (however unlikely) and some uses are specifically excluded by Linden Labs, in case the celeb sues them (not very likely either). If you change your display name, for instance: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Display-names-FAQ/ta-p/700175#Are_there_any_rules_for_choosing_a_display_name.3F You are free to express yourself in your name as long as it complies with the Second Life Terms of Service and Community Standards. When selecting a name, do not choose one that: violates a celebrity’s right in their name, a trademarked brand name, or any copyright or intellectual proper...;Furthermore, on the intellectual property page (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Intellectual_Property) Linden Lab states (my underlining) "When you do that, please make sure you're not improperly using another's intellectual property – for example, a trademarked logo or brand name, a distinctive product appearance (known as "trade dress"), characters or material from a movie, book, or other copyrighted work, or a celebrity image or name (protected as a "right of publicity")." and "You should not use copyrighted, trademarked, or celebrity material in Second Life, unless of course you are the intellectual property owner or have permission from the intellectual property owner." I'm just pointing this out so you know - it's illegal here unless you can show you have permission. The important thing is that this isn't "the real world" and what you may be able to get away with there you might get banned for here. Good luck though.
  12. Welcome back :-) Glad I'm not too late this time. A few of things: Optional: llListen(9, "", "", ""); lets anyone command your attachments to toggle on/off. If this is not what you want then llListen(9, "", llGetOwnerKey(), ""); will restrict it to just you. Important-ish: in the listen() event-handler you set giVisible = !giVisible; whatever the command. If this is "hide" you should use giVisible = 1; and if "show" use giVisible = 0; otherwise the touch-toggle will get out of step with the chatted commands. You could, for instance, get the command "hide" twice in a row which will work but shouldn't toggle the global variable, just set it. Bit I just don't understand: Why are the settings in the attach() event-handler different to the show/hide ones? I take it there's a reason, but it's not obvious just from the script. ETA: Oops - I forgot. You may want other people to be able to touch your attachments to toggle them but if not wrap all the touch_start() stuff inside a if(llDetectedKey(0) == llGetOwner()){ ... } block. Does the same thing as changing the listen @ Darkie - ok, you beat delivered first this time but I want 75% of that L$0 because you only provided a short answer. PS: read the comment line at the top of Sion's script :smileytongue:
  13. If you are not logged in to accept the items, or log in very soon after ordering them, then they get 'lost' in the system. There is no way for in-world (scripted) vendors to tell if you've actually accepted delivery or not and, as far as I know, the marketplace can't tell either. You ordered, the delivery-driver came around, you weren't in. In a sane world this would be recorded and maybe it is but it doesn't pay to trust SL too far.
  14. And do you have permission from these people to use their names and likeness? If not, this is probably in breach of the TOS.
  15. Marigold Devin wrote: Also, I think he does it from his workplace You think he's old enough to have a job? With a mentality like that I assumed he was early-teens at most. Oh joy - I can't wait until he gets fired for misuse of company equipment as well as having to stay in hospital for knee-replacement surgery,
  16. The hotel's server is acting as a proxy client. You can read the details here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Preferences-guide/ta-p/700131 but the important part is: "Web Proxy Checking Enable Web Proxy enables you to set a web proxy address and port number. You may need this option if you are operating in a restricted Internet environment, such as a research lab or at some companies. The web proxy settings should match those of your system's default web browser. If you are unsure what these settings should be, contact your network administrator. " In other words - you need to talk to whoever runs the hotel's systems.
  17. Any chance of an official statement on Wasted and the money-spammers from the mods or - perish the thought - LL? I'm assuming someone here at least has contacts with them. At the same time, I realise that any statement they make may be revealing too much about what they have done or intend to do. Even so, something general about fighting spam would be welcome. Anyway - once again it's hoorah for the mods :-)
  18. Sounds like a lot of fun. The max avatars for a full region is, technically, 100 but can be set as low as 40. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Limits/ta-p/700099 When you say a thousand students what does that actually involve, since they don't need dorms, canteen, parking, etc?
  19. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Maturity-ratings/ta-p/700119 Summary - General is for children and prudes, mature is for most people and adult is sex/violence (NB: Most Disney films would be too much for LL's definition of 'General'. Apparently 'miillions of potential residents' wanted it that way, although they haven't come along to take advantage of it)
  20. You think online is free? I have to pay electricity and ISP bills for mine :smileysurprised:
  21. Prepaid cards are often not accepted but you should get lucky as you're in the US. It's even worse for the rest of us. You will need to contact Linden Labs billing department. ... Peewee should be along shortly to paste their numbers here.
  22. It comes down to the fact the RLC is a much more limited environment. Everything in SL is 'custom' and must be downloaded to your machine the first time it is encountered. If your graphics settings/view distance are very high and/or you are in a busy or complex area that can really slow things down. As you move to other, new to you, areas more information has to be downloaded. I have a wireless connection which works very well while my avatar is 'at home', 20+ fps at high graphics, broadband just ticking-over. As soon as I teleport to a new place though I can wait 3 or 4 minutes before things rez, my ISP just won't handle that surge in traffic demand. With mine it often gives me 5s or more ping-time to a new sim/server, let alone a lousy download rate.
  23. If you ARE on the basic-mode viewer click the 'destinations' button at the bottom of the screen. Then click on the 'new user' category and New Citizens Inc. That's a great help area, where they'll talk you through everything you need. And provide more freebies than you even imagined ^^ With the 'advanced' mode, or a normal viewer, teleport to Kuula, it's the same place
  24. I have just checked and mine are there fine (with the latest V2) so I can't imagine why they aren't working for you. Hmmm, Peewee's answer makes me wonder - do you have a home position set and have you moved the landmarks you want to 'favourites' or are they just in landmarks? 2nd Edit: *(&%( Comments! Yes, this is about the least-friendly interface for an Answers section ever devised. There have been many complaints about it and no response from Linen Lab. We just have to live with it.
  25. I have not and cannot take money from your credit card. This is a resident's forum, not contact with Linden Lab so you really need to speak to them
