  1. I have not and cannot take money from your credit card. This is a resident's forum, not contact with Linden Lab so you really need to speak to them
  2. It is ludicrous but you could try *gasp* low-tech - write them a letter with a photocopy of your birth certificate. Proves nothing, of course, but the physical fact of the letter might get some attention.
  3. So sorry, didn't realise you were asking about foreign programs.
  4. Note especially from that list that basic accounts can't raise tickets regarding log-in to Second Life itself, only to the web site. Yeah, you might get help to get here but "the product"? Forget it! Seems just a little bit like the wrong way around to me. The only way this makes sense is if LL know there are too many problems logging-in for them to handle. In that case they really need to address the publicly-available information and any tech that can help.
  5. As the others have said, but you don't need to find somewhere to rez things. Wear the box (yes, it looks daft but it gives you access to it), right-click it and select 'open' then 'copy to inventory'. Finally detach the box (unless you really like it) and find the contents in your inventory.
  6. L$500 for two scripts, which I have ready - both copy + transfer. I do not support modifiable scripts. IM me if you're interested - payment not due until you've tried and tested them. NB: YOU need them to be copy + transfer but the 'wearable' script should be made no-transfer before you distribute it, otherwise one person could buy one and pass it to everyone else.
  7. Yes, you have understood exactly what I meant about each of the things you said and I totally agree with your last post. As I said in mine, "I have to spend it here, I have no way of withdrawing it!" so. yes, I never exchange L$ for real-world money, or vice-versa. I started with nothing [and still have most of it left]. Learnt to build & script courtesy of NCI. Won fairly-substantial amounts of money in their newbie events too (by SL standards). Got better at content creation, sold on SLX and got paid more for custom work. Paid rent, bought things, made donations, still have a reasonable chunk. Working on 'the next big thing' - or maybe not, we'll see :-) Not currently active on marketplace because a) it's more trouble than it's worth, b) I'm updating everything before selling anything.
  8. 36 prims and 'ultra low'? Pah! I have a 24x12m 3-room plus roof-garden and pool at 9 prims including furniture. Mind you, it looks like a bunker compared to theirs. I shall have to challenge them, lol :-) (It's ok, I realise you were just pointing it out, I'm just laughing)
  9. Or you can wear a 'megaphone' object that does the shouting for you. Stick this script in any object and chat "/42 message" - that is, put "/42", channel 42, before anything you want shouted. default{ changed(integer Change){ if(Change & CHANGED_OWNER){ llResetScript(); } } listen(integer ChannelIn, string FromName, key FromID, string Message){ llShout(0, Message); } state_entry(){ llSetObjectName(llKey2Name(llGetOwner())); llListen(42, "", llGetOwner(), ""); }}
  10. Les Dennis. Or am I just not guessing your country properly?
  11. For sure - tl;dr here too. That one just grabbed my attention somehow though
  12. Please see any number of "I can't buy L$" type threads Please see similar number of "I'm not in USA, how can I pay?" Please see "Why don't LL accept non-US paypal/prepaid credit cards/debit cards/money-tokens?" Please say bye-bye to 40% of the grid if you insist on PIOF/PMU Quite simply LL only have properly-functioning payment options for US citizens and some others with credit-cards. That does not include me, for instance. I have made literally millions of L$ in SL and spent them again - it's turnover that powers an economy, you know, not what you hold. I have to spend it here, I have no way of withdrawing it! Under your plan, I'll be leaving and, probably, so will everyone else that has no way to pay LL.
  13. Darrius Gothly wrote: A lot of the people that get pegged as "constant complainers" are those with enough history to have been through one, two or more of these same or similar fiascos. They have reached a point where most would simply offer up a derogatory hand-gesture and move on down the road. Instead, we stay and keep contributing, suggesting, counseling and ... yes, complaining. Because we believe. Off the top of my head: Windlight, voice, Zindra, in-world search, marketplace, Jive, web-profiles, Answers here, Basic Viewer. Viewer 2 should probably be in there too but it's the exception that proves the rule. LL have listened to feedback about it and have changed the more awful things. Most noticably the first update stopped the sidebar shifting the world-view every time it was opened/closed. Yes, it's different, no it isn't any harder (although I'm not convinced it's any easier either) - and I speak as someone who uses it all the time for scripting and building. Most importantly, as I was writing that list, "customer-communications and service" should have been first, last and in-between everything else. There was A LOT of communication before the Zindra debacle, for instance, but it was all of the form "yes, we're listening, but you're not saying the things we've already decided so we aren't going to do change a thing. We aren't doing this for residents, we're doing this for 'the millions of potential residents' [twit-face crowd]". Result; actual customers annoyed, potential customers not realised. There has hardly been any official communication about the other issues, sometimes we're even lucky if we get an announcement. Twit-face, yes, customers, no. So - again - hoorah for the moderators here :-) Visible response to customer issues. While I'm at it - let's all say one for Torley, too, one of the few Lindens to ever seem to understand SL. Kelly needs a third, at least from programmers. He actually contributes to discussions as well as responding. So three cheers :-) It's not all bad
  14. One thing I spotted, although there may be other issues: in the loadSettings state, dataserver event-handler, at the EOF the original had "renterID = llList2Key(savedList, 01);" and it's still here. I assume this is meant to be just '0'
  15. Not that anyone's mentioned. For what it's worth they aren't, properly, compatible with IE8 either, so don't hold your breath. Still :-) Apparently Firefox has caught up or overtaken Internet Explorer's market share (depending on whose figures you read) and Chrome is growing rapidly. Soon we'll be changing browsers to be compatible with the software, instead of the other way around ^^
  16. You're it Ishy - send Ladnei a TP
  17. Your English is perfectly clear, no need to worry. Linden Lab say you can have up to 5 accounts, which are commonly called 'alts', for alternative-accounts. Just register again with the same details to create a new one. You will be able to Pay L$ to your new avatar and pass-over all your transferable items. Unfortunately there is no way to give it the non-transferable objects as well. It is better NOT to delete your old account. Sometimes you may want to come back to being PearlNauma :-) Unless you have a premium account it doesn't cost you anything so keep it for a while.
  18. If you have just joined SL and downloaded the viewer you may be using the 'basic mode' which has quite restricted abilities. In particular you can only use one of the presets avatars and cannot buy anything. This is so that you can get used to the simple functions in SL - walking, flying, teleporting, text-chatting and interacting with objects. When you feel comfortable with those you need to log out of SL and then back in in order to select 'advanced mode', which has all the functionality enabled. Please see this page for details: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Basic-mode-FAQ/ta-p/733541
  19. If 'Kelp' is copyable then you only need to have one of it in MObject's contents - it will rez a copy and still have the original. Spelling and Capitalisation is VERY important though - "kelp" will not match "Kelp", so check that. If Kelp is not copyable then, yes, you'll need to check exactly what is in contents. The easiest situation there is if Kelp is the only (type of) object that will be in contents, then you can use: no_sensor(){ if(llGetInventoryNumber(INVENTORY_OBJECT)){ // If there are any objects in contents (which will be Kelp*) then rez the first one llRezObject(llGetInventoryName(INVENTORY_OBJECT, 0), llGetPos() + <0, 0,.5>, ZERO_VECTOR, ZERO_ROTATION, 42); }}
  20. Domitan Redenblack wrote: Thanks, but the Original topic title is accurate. No, it's a moving HUD, and in order to move it, I need to know which attachment point, and then move it relative to that point. If the user attaches it to a different point, e.g. "TOP", I might like to try to attach to "CENTER_2" or "CENTER_1" etc A moving HUD sounds odd, but interesting. I for one would get very annoyed with anything that didn't let me set what is attached where, so make sure you make it very clear that yours MUST be attached to whichever point you choose.
  21. It is quite possible to add a script to your magic box so that it is also the server for your vendor network, as well as the marketplace. The great benefit is that you then only need to keep your - probably boxed - 'for sale' items in one place; the magic box. The marketplace will interact with its own scripts in the magic box and your vendor network will interact with the additional script(s) you have added. The only side-effect is that marketplace will offer to start selling your script for you, since it sees it the same as any other product in the box. Just don't list it and you'll be fine. [PS: I've only just noticed - why is this thread under 'abuse and griefing'?]

I will refute your claims, Mr Oh, and here I have the proof that we don't all stick to stereotypes. For the record the most highly-scripted person I've met was also a man. The greatest script-hogs appear to be resize-recolour scripts in hair and boots and those are pretty much unisex.
  23. Charolotte Caxton wrote: Oh, and also, Mr. Oh, you can sort the Answer threads by Newest First, Oldest First, Most Kudos, or even Least Kudos! Once again you are absolutely correct. Should one want to follow the logic of a thread then - for each individual thread - one can open it, wait for load, click newest first, wait for re-load, click oldest-first, wait for re-load and then actually read it. I am far from being alone in thinking that is sub-optimal. @Luc - unfair to LL? I applaud their interest in the technology of SL and would love them to tell us a little about it some time (over a fortnight since the last communication from LL here on any subject). The last time I saw a Linden in-world was around 2 years ago, I think. That's partly because I don't go to office-hours, so can't blame them for that. Oddly enough many technology-based companies also work hard on customer-relations and communications, LL does not appear to do that. I will, however, accept that they do frequently communicate using twit-face, but none of the in-world or specifically SL tools (such as these fora & blogs). My point is that the strategic decisions about Answers in particular are not popular but, genuinely, I was voting a 'hoorah' for the moderators
