  1. I have heard or there is a rumor, that there is a hacked viewer which allows people to go in on "god mode" and do what they want. Have you ARed him because if he's doing that, it's very against TOS. The orb should work for you...let us know. (And make sure everyone has one.)
  2. If you do not know of something special they want or need, clothes and food are a good fall back gift.
  3. Whatever you derender is only derendered for you. No one else. People used to tell me oops sorry I derendered something on your property and I'd have to explain that was fine, and why.
  4. When I had a kids' park I had a separate parcel just for kid avatars, family groups and other G rated SLers to set home to. I put a note card about that on the park sim at the time. I did not get even one request so I eventually abandoned the idea and home parcel. I'm glad to see there are other places you can still go.

Then my computer crashed. I dashed to log in at a friend's. On the older viewer, there was nothing to her Her body was no longer there!

I was always asked for 2 forms of ID - they used to demand phone # and sometimes even SS # too - and I'm so white I'm almost see-through. Out here they do that with everybody.
  7. LOL Really, I will have to try one some day.
  8. Jo Yardley wrote: So any kind of vulgar language or lack of manners will pretty much kill the chat and I'll ban and mute you. This. No one has a reason to put up with such treatment, so why should they? The only ones I can think of who might enjoy that are folks who happen to have a verbal abuse fetish - assuming the other person is also their type. For the most part, OP you can safely assume most people you meet will react badly to being called a moron, or the use of swear words in response to a polite request to read or obey their rules. Also sometimes people just have a bad day, but somehow it's only the 'land owner' in SL who is supposed to be endlessly patient - never the visitor.
  9. Well there are not any free media streams around any more that I know of. Only you tube or archive.org. So your options are a bit limited out of the gate. What did you plan to put on it?

Which is why I don't understand why more people, businesses, pretty much any public space, does not use a mailbox. Simplest thing in the world, you just go in and get your mail. Some can do IM or note card or both. Some don't even require IM but use local chat. If it were me I'd allow IM or note card, and also have a mailbox on the land. I think what I used to say in my profile was something like, if don't reply to your IM within a week, please send a note card. I did have a mailbox too. Still do.

I hate being told I am hiding something or that its not fair you see my photo. It instantly makes me feel bad. Even though no I am not hiding and really its there choice to show there photo right away. It also makes me feel like if I dont live up to there standards Im not worth talking to. People (in my experience) who demand a photo arent looking for friendships, more like sexualships. No thanks dont do that either right away. I don't think people should ever show their photo online. But I'm old fashioned that way. If you don't know who the person is, think about it - that is a lot of risk. Even if they send you a photo, how do you know it's them? (Catfish.) As far as emotional manipulation that is your cue to run. "I showed you mine, you show me yours." They can't set the rules without your input or permission then demand you abide by them. Just mute and teleport away. My .02 and change.
  12. It is your profile. It should reflect you, your preferences, thoughts, likes, dislikes, favorite places, etc. You. Or at least your SL version of you.
  13. What is a Gem Panda? If it is a breedable those are notorious for falling behind schedule. Most breedables have their own websites, did you look for one? In other words I don't know.
  14. Gadget Portal wrote: Turn on IM to email, and your IMs will never cap. Ever. That's not always true. Which means it isn't true at all. IM to email still can cap. I've had it happen and others have too. I've seen them say so. The IMs are not in spam, and not in email. I don't know why that sometimes happens: it could be the email program, it could be SL glitching, it could be that the person was logging out or teleporting just at that moment. I don't know. I have also had IMs show up in email that I got while I was logged in, or show up a day or more later. ETA: I had written my reply before I realized a lot of other people told you the same thing. I wasn't trying to flog a dead equine, honest.
  15. Or you could box them up to give to 'newbies' although with how many freebies are available now, it's harder to find a newbie who really is a newbie (not an alt) or wants a freebie from an avatar. Most places warn against newbies accepting things from strangers anyway (just like real life, heh) because too many people trick newbies with bad items (spam, grief, etc.) Maybe a freebie place or NCI would take the things...or you could list some on marketplace but, yes it's a lot of work for little reward.
  16. I did mention that they needed to open the boxes, actually; but you explained it much better anyway.
  17. Thank you all. I appreciate the advice. I have some of those thin mountains with waterfalls and plants on them, surrounding my property currently. Every once in a while someone would put up a big FOR SALE sign trying to lure in my visitors, or something visually obnoxious like a 50m tall glowing object right on the property line. One guy, thankfully moved since, kept somehow putting things over my property line (I think because the root prim was on his.) I mean, so far over that it was IN the house. It's something to think about. What I worry about besides problem tenants would be the income making it worthwhile to be at people's beck and call 24/7. I'm unsure whether I'd go the route of tiny lots (which were pretty much what my changing rooms were only those were free), or large luxury lots. What do large luxury lots rent for anyway? I have no idea what to charge people. On the 30 day notice, 30 days is a looong time in SL, I would probably give two weeks notice but also a refund if the fault were mine.
  18. It's happened to me also and I use yahoo. People never believe me when I tell them that yes, IMs really can cap, even to email. Sometimes they are in the spam folder, but not always.

  20. People probably explained about land and tier. You might want to get a Premium membership and a Linden home. With that you get a home and the land it sits on along with your membership (free.) That will be closer to what you are used to with IMVU, until you get hte hang of SL. And you'd have a home base to log into that's private (as private as you wish it to be.) However Linden homes have behavior or zoning restrictions, so read up on those first. A Linden home has 117 prims in addition to the (included) house; on most 512 parcels (same size of land) you get 117 prims (object pieces) total, which a house would be deducted from. (ETA: I forgot to add: You can have up to 20 avatars on a sim, but you won't usually have to worry about that. Finding more than one or two other avatars on a sim at a given time is difficult let alone 20. Also, you can put as many things as the land allows, and that's according to the land size usually.) All land works the same way, you find it for sale in search or in the forums or in marketplace, and buy or rent it (although some landlords confuse the two terms.) If you buy land and it's more tier than is included free with your Premium membership (if you have one), you will pay Linden Lab the tier for that land, monthly. If you rent land, you just pay the rent to a fellow resident; no tier. The downside to that is they can pull the land from under you and you'd have no refund. Sounds like you did not open the box the clothes came in before you tried them on. You want to right click, choose Open, and choose Copy to Inventory. Then, go to Recent Things in inventory (if it's something from the past couple of hours) and right click each clothing item and choose Wear. Right click and choose Detach or Remove to take the clothes off again. (In the case of mesh demo clothing) It will have a DEMO sign on it so you don't (so no one does) just walk around wearing it. Regular painted-on or sculpty clothing doesn't do demos; that's because it will fit. I realize there is still a question of quality. You just have to find brands you like or study the photo carefully. How is SL different from IMVU? Too many ways to count. Well I get the different virtual worlds mixed up, but, is IMVU the one where you have to click on dots to move around? Where you have to hop from someone's house to someone's house? SL is more like a world. A virtual world. It's too large and vast to explore completely within a person's lifetime. Residents have created all sorts of spaces, from outdoor to outer space, to replicas of real life places. And, you can walk; you can move; you can fly; you can dance; you can swim; you can leap. You can watch movies; you can drive a car; own a boat; fly a plane; too many things to list. To begin exploring, check out the Destination Guide here on the website, or type words in search, or browse people's profiles and look at their Picks pages. If you find somewhere you like, take a landmark. (World/Create Landmark in your SL window.) As for Zindra specifically, you will have to prove you're of adult age before you can go there, or buy there. Prove that with Linden Lab, I mean. I'm sure someone's told you how, but that's also easily google-able.

He was well-respected within the community and held "Ops" in the channel - it's like being a moderator. He had a "slave." About a year later it was discovered that it was a woman playing BOTH the "Master" and "slave." Needless to say the person was banned from all Gorean channels at the time and people were kicking themselves not to have seen thru the ruse but some people are good at manipulation. I find that a bit hilarious. I'm willing to bet there is a lottttt of gender role reversal in SL Gor.
  22. What got my reply was the "possible smart girl." She isn't sure? I was thinking that - like women who bat their eyes to get men to help them. *smh* Two pages of replies, looks like it worked.
  23. Funny clips. I tried to find a Judge Judy telemarketer call I had heard a long time ago, but I couldn't. I learned that not all videos advertised by the uploader as "hilarious" or "best ever" really are. :matte-motes-confused:
  24. I remember once a "couple" walked in and began to argue, disrupting a gathering of people. I thought it seemed a bit like a performance, too canned; suddenly one of them said the other one's line. Oops! It disappointed me that no one else seemed to notice, or care. I think this probably happens a fair amount in SL. Also I think a fair amount of 'partners' are the same person, so they won't be hit on, maybe. Or maybe in some 'industries' in SL they think it looks better to have a partner.
