  1. I'm not sure of stalking but it sounds like a bout of insecurity coupled with a dash of nosey parker-itis. If they don't want to be seen, leave them alone.
  2. There is also an opening for a fraud specialist and a back end engineer. Anyone? ...Bueller?
  3. Don't know but I'd love to find a place like that, too. Not for my av as much as for my land. I'd also like to buy a dance orb (like clubs use) that doesn't cost 10,000 $L but is decent quality. I don't run a club, so it's not a necessity. Just would be nice to offer visitors.
  4. I have met a few women who hate shopping or dislike shopping, but, I stick by what I said. ETA: I might add you do take great care in your avatar's appearance. (You had to have gone shopping at some point.) I do realize there are myriad reasons why a person might not. I do find it unusual a female could spend years in SL, have a close relationship, and care nothing about their avatar's appearance, especially if their partner did (re: the OP.) Would your avatar be caught dead in system shoes, or system hair, for instance?
  5. Phil Deakins wrote: Another fact: Normandy, where the Normans came from, was set aside for the Vikings to live in. 'Norman' means 'north man' - men of the north - where the Vikings came from. I didn't know that until relatively recently. And yet another little known fact: After Harold got the arrow in his eye, one of his officers rushed up to him and said, "Keep blinking, Harry. It'll work its way out." Nice to have helpful friends, isn't it? I might've been tempted to pull it out just to put it in his ear. I always wondered why Normans, who were from south of England, were called Normans. Interesting, thanks. Apparently William's body had been putrefying in the sun, and then stuffed into a stone (IIRC) coffin. In those times, there was usually a drainage hole in the bottom, but perhaps they were rushed. The upshot is that the body, which had already begun to swell, continued doing so until the natural gases literally blew the lid off, and 'goo' rained down on those attending. A fairly ignoble end to the King's life. Considering what he did to the north of England I can't be too sad for him though, really...at least he was already dead. As others have said he was literally a "bleep" (might as well censor that pre-emptively), or, 'born without the blessings of ministry.' Well - was that true of him, or, his parents, or...? I can't usually keep that part straight. Anyone reminding him of that fact could meet with swift vengeance - unless you made him laugh. One guy dared say "Not bad for the "bleep" grandson of a fish monger" - and William roared with laughter. Didn't he have 'royal' or 'noble' blood due to some guy who took a fancy to a fish monger's daughter who was washing clothes in a stream? That was his mother, right? Oh, so I guess William himself was the "bleep" then. He is interesting, as most tyrants are; it's fun to learn more about his life.

Another might be 'they were having a bad day' or 'they like to see non avian avatars fly' or 'they simply did not like the sight of (whoever.)' How can we tell you more, when you've been there and we have not? I never said that was MY experience, I make a point to fit the theme and rules before doing anything. Also I pretty much got all the information I needed on the first page, then left the thread to let it die. Now if this was GameFAQs I could lock my threads when I was through with them... but not many forums like to give users that kind of freedom with their own threads. So you're going to be one of those who takes offense where no such intent is to be found, and to penalize those who dared try to help you, because they were supposed to psychically glean that you are done with the topic? I did notice that you did not specify it was your experience. However, it can be fairly presumed that might be one way you knew all of the details of what happened. However again, if you would read more carefully you'd see I took care to say "whoever" - not "you." I did presume you at least went back to see if there were any rules posted, before beginning this topic; because that would be the prudent thing to do (my mistake, then.) Which is why I did say, maybe "you" missed their rules note card. I did also offer other possibilities in case even that was not the case. I'm so sorry I could not read your mind.
  7. Oh, ew. Wish there had been some warning before I clicked on that. And for some crazy reason I thought you were talking about Second Life, and discrimination against furries, or something like that.
  8. I'm almost amused by it, because I keep wondering if they know who they are marketing to. People from all over the world, but many from the USA. Are they going to ship the person by overnight mail? I mean, isn't a prostitute one thing that's pretty much found in every city on earth? Now if they were advertising free health care...
  9. It must have been some sort of ad trying to pop up, and I had pop ups stopped, so it wasn't allowing it. I'm not sure but, I did coincidentally install ad block the other day and voila, no more error message (at least, that one.) Thanks Czari & Malanya.

  11. According to documentary television (which we all know is true), here are a couple of random facts. The battle was going in King Harold's favor, when one of his soldiers decided to show off, and run after the retreating invaders. That broke the infallible line, and the battle turned. William the Conqueror's coffin exploded inside the chapel, during his funeral, and showered the attendees with goo.
  12. I find it entirely believable that cave women had seamstresses. And hair salons. Entirely! OP: Maybe you missed their rules note card. 14. Cats eat flowers, too. The more expensive, the better. Some flowers are toxic to pets.
  15. Well, now we know why they kept the blanket up.
  16. At any rate, I do not think recurring sounds on one own's land are what the TOS is against. People often have those, for atmosphere. And people have particles on their own land too or temp rez items. Long as those are legally sold in SL, how can they be against TOS to use them on one's own land? A fireworks show lasted a few days...I'm still with 'over reaction' on this one. Now yes if someone has a particle show that is over the top ridiculous the Lindens will look at and judge that if asked...I've seen ones that sent particles far onto neighboring parcels. I'm talking about, down the road on both ends. Truly to the level one could not ignore. That is not normal usage of a legal object sold on MP or in a SL store. There's no rule in TOS about how long one can have fireworks out. I'm all for being a polite neighbor but not letting someone use their land normally is not that, either, any more than 50 particle spewing cannons would be.
  17. I keep getting a 'certificate not valid' error message and it names an ad site as the culprit. What does that mean?
  18. Perrie Juran wrote: Melita Magic wrote: The excerpt you quoted makes clear reference to interrupting a scheduled event, followed by a string of griefing tactics. People are allowed to use sounds on their own parcels. It sounds to me like the neighbor put out some fireworks to celebrate something - for a few days, as I expected. Sounds like they were out about 3 days. I think the neighbor over reacted, though I do think they could ask politely if the fireworks neighbor would please set their sounds to stay on their own parcel. I've had some very annoying neighbors in the past, including ones who were definitely doing things purposely to annoy, but something going on for a few days is a minor annoyance, if you are thinking long term. My guess is the person was celebrating the royal baby and now it's all done with. Each phrase there is separated by commas. "Disrupting scheduled events, repeated transmission of undesired advertising content, the use of repetitive sounds, following or self-spawning items, or other objects that intentionally slow server performance or inhibit another Resident's ability to enjoy Second Life are examples of Disturbing the Peace." If this aplied to events only it would or should have read: "Disrupting scheduled events WITH repeated transmission...etc, etc, etc." Yes, I know that. I still do not think it applies to what someone does on their own land. That cannot disturb someone else's peace. Not unless it is some obvious form of intentional griefing, or slops over the land border. How is it griefing to use one's own land in a manner allowed for within SL TOS? Fireworks have been sold on the marketplace for nearly as long as SL has existed, including, according to one fireworks maker, to some Lindens. I'll give up trying to explain that excerpt's subtext, since that's going to be futile.

I don't feel an AR is appropriate in this situation. Correcto. Repeated sounds are used frequently (sound loops for birdsong, cityscape noises, fans or propellers), they're completely fine to use at any intensity (or frequency) on your own land. This is not an ARable activity. Further, a reminder to the OP that duplicate abuse reports can get your own account in trouble. Thank you and I agree it is best to try to save the AR for the real crises.

  21. xIITaylorIIx wrote: Well that's some info, thankyou. My question is now ... the learning schedule say 9PM to 12PM. Iam assuming SLT means Second Life time so I look on my viewer and see 12:56 PM PDT. Here is it 21:56 (nearly 10PM). So again, very confused lol .... What is 9PM SLT in my viewers time. Gee I don't know if I even understand myself anymore I think I need a break SL time and PST are the same. SLT is SL time. You can adjust daylight in your own view by choosing World/Environment settings in your SL viewer. Then choose the time of day you want. It doesn't change your clock in SL, just the visuals - night or day. Sunrise or Sunset. And it only lasts until you log out. You will need to do it again if you want it changed next time too. It is nice to see someone who I believe is actually new, asking questions, vs. an alt of a regular.
  22. No it isn't like another virtual world I can think of, in which blank templates are sold, and then you can see the different versions available, and buy what you want. You just have to search marketplace by key word and type of thing you want and hope for the best. I recommend searching by price if you are new. A lot of designers offer something free or cheap so you can try their product. (Not Demo - Demo will say Demo on it. You only want that if you need to try out something specific.) If you want to create stuff you can buy some templates, but that's another story.
  23. I don't have any but I know there are some communities set up that have things like you describe. Just wanted to say there is no way to set up separate radio control within an apartment building. You need your own parcel for that.
  24. I have been getting some sort of error message about an invalid certificate when I try to use Safari for this website, recently. It says something like, invalid certificate, proceed anyway? And it names some sort of ad as the problem. What's going on?
