  1. Mesh or sculpted prims would make a more realistic shaped ruched skirt, and might be best for still photographs, but these don't move well. If you want one that is good for walking and dancing in, Rolig is correct in saying that flexible prims are the better choice. I'd play about with flexible cylinders, cut into sections and hollowed. Use Ged Larsons LinkRez (or the free LoopRez)--info is here-- to form them into circular skirt patterns. Make multiple layers to give the ruched effect, and make a texture that shows the gathering of the fabric into ruches. You could arrange them over a base made of either glitch pants, a system skirt, or even a mesh skirt. A sculpted skirt is possible, but won't move nicely as your avatar moves.
  2. How cool- a bit like the "Open Gardens Scheme", to inspire everybody. Make sure you put the kettle on for us all
  3. Poenald Palen wrote: Poenald Palem makes vehicles..... ...I will leave this post now. I could add more though, but this seems enough. You think too much, chookums, and it sounds like a burden. I ought to go check out your cars though, as I'm sure you do a good job.
  4. I really hope your partner has a thick skin doesn't take that kind of thing personally.:smileylol:
  5. Aren't all members of the "kid community" adults, the same as any of us? We are all grownups, capable of filing our own ARs, clicking our own mute buttons, and are all equally capable of teleporting away from things not to our taste. I don't understand why any are vulnerable and need special help from others to do these things once the basics of using a viewer are conquered. Is this a case of using "please think of the virtual children" to lobby for a reduction of every resident's right to privacy and protection from slander? Thanks goodness restrictions are put on naming and shaming. We have enough drama and harrassment in SL without adding to it.

The MMOs are incorporating the stuff that makes 3DVWs popular. If they are to survive, the 3DVWs need to start incorporating what makes MMOs popular. They are just starting to do that. The merging of the two genres seems inevitable." + seems like linden has come to the same conclusion. so experience permissions and mmorpgs capability for user/creators is why i think linden is maybe making a mmorpg-like entrance to SL for newbies. like a showcase of what is possible. which is world viewer educational as well. with quick portal exit outs to normal SL for them that not want to play a mmorpg game to get started I think you could be onto something there, 16. LL is interested in how to extend and improve the Premium Wilderness sims. Some residents received a survey on this a few weeks ago which asked us about how the Wilderness and general Premium experience could be improved, and what it needed to attract repeat visits. I assume they are still working on those permissions and pathfinding features. Sounds like the moles are all off doing something, anyways.
  7. Suki..I wonder if your friend has shadows enabled? I find that this breaks invisiprims for me in any viewer.
  8. I've only looked at Gimp briefly, but was impressed by it. I had PS7, and found it very frustrating as it is really the last version of it's sort, and most filters/brushes/tutorials do not suit PS7 and earlier. (I've been using PS CS3 for a few years now, and even it seems outdated by the latest with 3D painting.) There are more inworld classes based on latest Gimp, and none for PS7. So you might find it easier to learn if you swap over. I'd say go for it.
  9. That's the most best and most sensible explanation I've seen so far. You have me chuckling.
  10. Exactly! I'm sure she'd sell more of them if customers could see a range of quality clothes made to fit.
  11. I gave myself a makeover once for another thread here about this... See..anyone can be beautiful

Faithless Babii wrote: Ive been to so many events , fairs etc..and see this type of model used (especially the ones with added "Im riding an invisible pony" sized legs/hips) and I walk away..the photo gives me absolutly no idea of what it would look like in a non fish pouty-im-riding-an-invisible pony sort of person. This links a little to the thread about using the wrong model. The 'knock-kneed fish-lipped invisible-pony-rider' model tends to make me leave a store fast after an initial scan. I don't relate to them, and so don't want to emulate anything about their appearance. Plus they often seem to be wearing quite forgettable clothes. But yes; to each their own. I suspect these avatars mostly exist in blogs and on vendors. I never meet them when out and about.
  13. Some good suggestions have been offered. Can I add some other general ones.... -If being mobbed with particle spam, turn off particles in your graphics settings. Then you may be able to find the prim emitting them easier. -Mystitool will also tell you what is colliding with you,and who it's owned by. -Muting works a treat on objects and their owners. Derendering also is helpful. -Turning yourself phantom can be as effective as box-sitting. (Phoenix has this on it's toolbar, but I'm not sure about other viewers.) -Use control+alt+T to locate hidden transparent prims. -Area search (Phoenix) can search for object names and owners. This is helpful if you've found a prim causing trouble, and want to round up any others. -Not all sandboxes are equal. Well-managed ones are much nicer, and there are plenty around. Try Builders Brewery if premium ones aren't available to you.
  14. Your partner is secretly your RL partner and you never knew..
  15. Can I just say, as an aside (and complete tangent), that in this thread I just realised that none of the moderators have actually picked up on any of my Australian expletives. So I can say heaps of sweary things. If I ever choose. Neener.
  16. Oh madman..i clicked reply to you, but I was really replying to more than that. But to you (I appreciate your points) I challenge the FBI to come get me.
  17. I've ARed children in SL 3 times over the last 4 years (roughly). Each time, they have presented themselves as adults in public sandboxes, then later admitted they were RL under 16. Each time, they have almost put adults (myself and others) in potentially difficult situations, as they attempted to flirt. I don't, and will never, have sex with a stranger, especially with one who presents as immature, but these situations have left me with the realisation that friendly/flirty conversation with any stranger could end badly in a public place. Children have no place mixing in our grid, unidentified.
  18. That bloody-buggery rl. It makes me go feed my child, drive it to school..... sometimes pick it up again. Wash my hair. Crap I hate it.

Not so much. Agree....I sort of wanted to say that, but didn't have the brainpower at the time ...The "spammage expectation" is greater, and senses are on alert when tping into a new club or store. But..if a person is just hanging out/building/chatting with friends/whatever and spammage arrives via group chat/dropdown menu..then that's a whole 'nother ballgame. It's waaaay more offensive.
  20. Jocial Sonnenkern wrote: Why doesn't Linden Lab set it up so if you find a home you like, you can right click and rent it? Why do they have to assign the homes? Why can't we browse the neighborhoods and pick out the one we want? That sounds too pleasant and rational I really think that LL does not want linden homes to be too attractive as a long term option to most people. They are starter homes, in essence, and are designed to give people a taste of home ownership, and some comfort, before they are ready to commit further. That's why they are no-mod cookie-cutter units, and don't offer as many options as buying a first tier-free 512, or renting on the open market. But they are a great idea for what they are- I've played with one, helped pimp it up, and had a ball looking at what can be done decorating wise...and I know how they can make a good getaway. As long as LL can hold to their promises, and have them available, of course.
  21. Seems to me about the same. :catwink:
  22. Beggars, who copy/paste their need for 'urgent rent assistance'/'lindens for new hair' in half the groupchats you can see, leaving behind 20 minutes of complaints from all the group members who are all tired of this. The spammer never hangs about to hear the first line of protests and calls-for-banning. The same beggars who have nasty profiles and RL porny photos of "themselves" that require instant brainbleach if you stumble over them during the AR process. Apart from that, it's all fairly cool, tummytalkers aside
  23. Goodness..vanila really has little to complain about after she sees that photo
