  1. We'll leave the fine points up to you academics shall we, Us plebs 'll just carry on regardless.
  2. Hi Drake, welcome to the forum. Links in profiles are tricky and inconsistent. For example you can put in a link to a web page like this [http://www.secondlife.com SecondLife] and you should just see SecondLife highlighted and if you click on it the web page will open. Except; you won't see it like that you will see the whole thing as text, other people will see the link as long as they are using old style profiles, if they are using web profiles they will see the text. I don't think there is a way to link notecards, but if you have seen it then look up that persons profile on the web http://www.secondlife.com/firstname.secondname and you will probably see how they have done it.
  3. Oh, sorry I only read the first couple of sentences. Anyway, turns out you can do duotones with spot colour or with the 2 of the 4 colour process plates but they look different This is spot colour style http://blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/tutorials/how-to-create-a-colorful-fluoro-pop-art-photo-effect This is 4 colour process style http://jakegarn.com/duotone-tutorial/ Neither of which are actually printed obviously but it gives an idea of the difference. There are probably other ways to do it but I am harking back to the days when the closest thing we had to a computer was a IBM golfball typewriter. You learn something every day.
  4. I think you are asking for a full permissions AO HUD. You don't say if you expect there to be animations in it or if you are planning to use your own. You should be able to get a good empty hud free on the marketplace. Try searching for ZHAO II or ZHAO 2. You will probably find some empty and some with free animations. If I am not understanding you correctly please edit your post and give a fuller explanation of what you are looking for in your own language using short simple sentences that will be easy for me to translate.
  5. I think you mean duotone. Spot color is literally a spot of solid color as in some coloured text or a logo or something. Duotone is printing the black plate and one of the 3 other colour plates out of a 4 colour CMYK set. The colour of the ink that you actually use is up to you.
  6. Paste the slurl into a web browser. When the page comes up click on the button to go to the place and it will send you a landmark. You can get a properly formatted slurl from the map. Go to the place on the world map by typing in the sim and location coordinates and then Copy SLurl button bottom right (well it is in firestorm anyway). ETA: It doesn't save. Thought it did.
  7. This is a hud with 4 prims on the back and the hover text shows through the front prim so it looks like text on the hud.
  8. Hover text on a prim set with llSetText has a limit of 254 bytes UTF-8. UTF-8 uses between 1 and 4 bytes for each character so you will get up to 254 characters but less if you use characters outside the ASCI set (i.e. the latin character set used in English and other western European languages). And you can only have one colour at a time. If you are seeing something that goes beyond that limit it either uses multiple prims which may be hidden or it isn't using this kind of text. Are you sure emDash is one prim. Buttons on a hud are usually prims which would be about 18 looking at the picture of it. Take a look at this: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/XyzzyText or it could be html using media on a prim (MOAP) see the quick start section on this page http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Void_Singer/Teacup Another common strategy is to "scroll" the text. You make the text appear to scroll by removing the top line and adding a new line at the bottom.

Y aww, sorry to the academics. For the rest of us it was just a bit of fun teasing you for taking yourself too seriously.
  10. Yeah, fell for it hook line and plonker and I didn't even press the right button. http://www.pakin.org
  11. a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. If there's a genius who can solve this long-standing problem, it would be quite lovely. You are right it shouldn't exist in the first place. From the sound of it you are having a problem with webkit which is an Apple product which is no longer supported. I understand that Linden Lab are planning to replace it at some point but I don't know if they are working on it yet. In the meantime if you want to try doing something about it you could google secondlife webkit to see if there is a solution for your system or try different viewers. If you would like some help with it you would need to go to Help/About in the viewer and copy the system information there and paste it into your post.
  12. Skins are made in three parts, head, upper body and lower body. Once you have made the textures you just upload them the same as any texture. Then you go into Edit Outfit and create a new skin and drag the textures onto the texture boxes provided. There are various templates that you can use that will help getting things in the right place such as: http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLPages/AVUVTemplates.html That is for normal or classic avatars, not mesh. If you want to make skins for mesh bodies then you have to talk to the publisher of that mesh body and see if they have a development kit for it.
  13. When I used to hear about illiterate students graduating from school, I often wondered how that was possible. But after encountering some of LlazarusLlong's more lusk annunciations, I now realize that not only is it possible for people to graduate without having learned fundamental skills such as reading and writing, but that it's possible for these same people to believe that “the truth”, “the whole truth”, and “nothing but the truth” are three different things. Before I begin talking about specifics, let me just mention that if you think that it is better that a hundred thousand people should perish than that LlazarusLlong should be even slightly inconvenienced then you're suffering from very serious nearsightedness. You're focusing too much on what LlazarusLlong wants you to see and failing to observe many other things of much greater importance such as that its hatchet men have been pivotal in sustaining the narrative that LlazarusLlong's writings surpass most intellectual discourse in terms of the cogency of what they promote and the morality of their implications. Towards this end they toss about inflated figures, dubious “facts”, and exaggerated claims about how LlazarusLlong is beyond reproach. LlazarusLlong is not interested in what is true and what is false or in what is good and what is evil. In fact, those distinctions have no meaning to it whatsoever. The only thing that has any meaning to LlazarusLlong is solipsism. Why? The answer is almost utterly obvious—this isn't rocket science, you know. The key is that LlazarusLlong once tried convincing me that the more strepitant the communication, the more perspicuous the message. Does it think I was born yesterday? I mean, it seems pretty obvious that LlazarusLlong refers to almost everyone it dislikes as “benighted”. Consequently, when I made some disparaging remarks about LlazarusLlong's imprecations, the choicest word LlazarusLlong found for me was—wait for it—"benighted". My purpose in telling you this is not to highlight LlazarusLlong's limited vocabulary but rather to remind you that Titoism is a plague upon us all, a pox that will likely not be erased in the lifetime of any reader of this letter. To LlazarusLlong, however, it's merely a convenient mechanism for waging a clandestine guerilla war against many basic human rights. It is not necessary to continue living with the risks induced by LlazarusLlong's aberrant prank phone calls in order reap the cautionary benefits bestowed by the knowledge that we all know, in the world that surrounds us, that there are terrorists and home invaders and drug cartels and carjackers and knockout gamers and rapers and haters and baleful braggarts who scheme to use threats of fiscal harm to coerce perverted, biased skinflints into forming the association in the public's mind between any codices LlazarusLlong disagrees with and the ideas of hate and violence and illegality. What is often easy to forget, however, is that LlazarusLlong's warped dream is starting to come true. Liberties are being killed by attrition. Maoism is being installed by accretion. The only way that we can reverse these vengeful, jackbooted trends is to advance a clear, credible, and effective vision for dealing with our present dilemma and its most effete manifestations. To be precise, it and I disagree about our civic duties. I aver that we must do our utmost to advance freedom in countries strangled by tyranny. LlazarusLlong, on the other hand, warrants that savagism is a beautiful entelechy that makes us whole. All right; this letter is finally drawing to a close. If I have said anything that overstates the truth and indicates an unreasonable impatience, I beg you to forgive me. If I have said anything that understates the truth and indicates my having a patience that allows me to settle for anything less than reporting as best as possible the facts and circumstances surrounding LlazarusLlong's headlong tactics, I beg God to forgive me.
  14. It is a devil to get that right because skin is so complex. Even if you use colour under cursor as Alwin suggests, you get the colour of one pixel so when you match it up you can still see the line. Slink, who make feet (and other things) have a cool trick which is to use a tattoo to finish of the match. So you put on their feet and an alpha to make your normal feet go away, then you set the basic colour and then you pick a tattoo to finish it off. The tattoo starts with the colour of the foot and fades into transparency so that the colour blends to your skin colour.
  15. You would be better posting under: Forums Technology Forum Second Life Server Or opening a support ticket. As a matter of interest if you open up the stats box Shift + Ctrl + 1 and scroll down to the bottom under the section Time in the stats that start Physics Time and end with Spare Time do you see anything of note. Between them they have 22 milliseconds to create your frame. If there is Spare Time that is good the sim isn't stressed. If something is using 5ms that's probably ok. If something is using 10ms that is quite a heavy load. If something is using 18ms then that is a clue to the problem. I just plucked those numbers from thin air but you get the idea. The graph of the FPS (sim FPS) suggests to me that there is something going on there because they are the sub stats of the FPS. If something is using a lot of Time it slows down the frame so that you don't get the normal 45fps. Even if it doesn't help you to solve the problem directly it is a bit more data to give support.
  16. Most people post video to the Machinima Forum unless they are specific to some other forum.
  17. Try singing Evening Prayer from Hansel & Gretel, or reading some poetry or standing on your head and munching paper bags. I don't claim any personal success using these methods but I did read about it in Wikipedia. Like branding coconuts it takes practice. If the above doesn't work could you clarify your question as I have no idea what you are asking.
  18. It come from the viewer. If you search for 'Avatar declouded after seconds' you get chunks of viewer code. But I couldn't work out what triggers it.
  19. Rule of thumb, if you want to add your own furniture look for an empty house to rent. If it comes fully furnished you probably won't be able to move it around or add furniture. There is a huge range from empty land on up so shop around.
  20. You drag it out of your inventory onto the ground. Then you drag the script out of your inventory onto the object. You have to be in a place where you have permissions to rez such as your own home or a sandbox or some other place which lets anyone rez stuff.
  21. Rtemisia wrote: And the weirdest thing is that when I enter the regular page url of the Youtube video it plays on the object just fine. A bit choppy, but it does start and play. If that is what is happening when you use a regular page url what kind of url didn't work. I use the url that shows in my browser address bar and then position/size it to fit my prim so that only the video is showing. At the end of the video it plays some other video or an advert. When you click on the home icon in the address bar it returns to the start of the original video, or an advert
  22. Object inventory cannot contain folders (other than the "Contents" folder) http://lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=inventory
  23. Nice work Jackson, I have done some filming on that sim, great fun chasing the pterodactyl.
