  1. Blue screens are caused either by a hardware error or a driver error. There could be a million causes but there are some common ones. Bad memory, graphics card getting too hot and capacitors blowing on either on the mother board or the graphics card, which is also a heat related problem. If it is a driver it would probably be something you recently installed. So the first easy thing to do is to make sure that the air flow to your computer isn't being blocked. To stop the system restarting so that you can see the error message. Control Panel / System / Advanced Settings / Advanced tab / Settings and deselect Automatically restart. some of that may be a bit different depending on your windows version. Or you can do it from the registry System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl] Value Name: AutoReboot Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled) The error message may or may not be helpful. Try googleing it. What may be more useful is to download bluescreenview from: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html. It all looks very complicated but when you start it up it will automatically load the latest dump file. In the top panel look under Caused By Driver and in the lower panel look in the second column, Address In Stack and it will tell you the drivers that may have caused the error or the hardware that they are driving that has a problem. If you want to edit your post with more information please open your viewer, you don't have to log in, go to Help/About and copy the information displayed there using the copy button and paste it in your post.
  2. I think what you are doing wrong is using the wrong version of Flash. The one I am using is for Firefox and in the name it says NPAPI not PPAPI.
  3. It would have been odd if that was the problem because you would have been surrounded by red sploges all over the place, but it just looked like that. One other thought. Is the media feed from the web and if so can you get the URL, you could try it in your normal browser and see if there are any issues.
  4. Not a very clear question so you might get many guesses. If it is a linden home click on the control panel by the door. It should open a web page where you can change the textures that decorate your house. If you bought a bathroom it may be in a box which you have to unpack. Drag it from your inventory onto the floor in your house and then right click and select Open. Copy to inventory. Then drag out the individual items and position them how you want.
  5. Looks like you have view transparency turned on. Ctrl + Alt + T to turn it off.
  6. I couldn't find it quickly but there is a different way of doing it which uses an animated texture on a sculpt which is a very simple low lag way of getting the effect. I think it is for a bee. Ah, I found it. Full instructions here: http://outworldz.com/Secondlife/Posts/Bee/
  7. I don't have an explanation but am suffering from the same blight.
  8. When I click to answer a question I am presented with a login page, almost every time, and then when I log in, instead of going back to the question, or post in the forum, i get bounced over to Blogs and have to find my way back. Anyone else getting this?
  9. You can also use google, secondlife anime avatars for example will probably bring back market place hits as well as blogs or videos by other people interested in the subject who may make recommendations or useful comments.
  10. Jean Horten wrote: According to the tech specs of the optiplex 755 the mainboard has got a PCI-Ex16 slot on the mainboard, so you should be able to put in a widespread variety of gpus if you upgrade the psu too. This gpu should fit your case: GTX 750 low profile What is your budget for a new gpu? J. I think they have to be half height cards to fit in the case.
  11. Yeah, I saw that news today. To be honest it was a bit of an expensive solution at 10 bucks a month. I would prefer to invest in a decent computer, but there you go, horses for courses.
  12. Interesting jira includes this comment from Grumpy Linden: "Grumpity Linden added a comment - 16/Mar/15 2:41 PM This behavior change is intentional. Second Life is a shared experience, and we want to default to that where possible. thanks!" Thanks to you Grumpy. By this logic there shouldn't be any windlight settings and you should force us all to have the same lighting all the time. Watch out for the new grumpy settings in the next update.
  13. You want to get open collar stuff. It is all free and good quality. Read all about it here: http://www.opencollar.at Go here to get all the free stuff: secondlife://HAVEN%2520VI/218/47/37
  14. Go to their support page and register, you have to do this even if you already registered on their main site http://support.amarettobreedables.com/index.php. Then create a ticket.
  15. You could try SLGO https://slgo.onlive.com as an alternative to upgrading. or Radagast viewer. Unfortunately Radagast is not up to date with the latest mesh stuff as far as I know so you will get some graphics glitches.
  16. I mostly use Firestorm and Alchemy. I haven't compared them directly but I agree that Alchemy is lighter and snappier than Firestorm. I still mostly use Firestorm because I love the features. I'm hoping that it will improve on the next release when they get caught up on the recent Linden updates. You can use Open Hardware Monitor to measure the GPU load and memory usage. There is a bit of info about how I use it here: http://www.atob.ws/CTLViewerLag.aspx
  17. You can use Xpadder to map your Xbox controller to to mouse and keyboard. It comes with instructions: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xpadder/ Depending on what it is that you want to do you may also need to activate Flycam mode. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Flycam. The wiki is a bit out of date. The settings are in Preferences/Move & View/Other Devices. After you setup Flycam you still have to turn it on which you do by pressing Alt+Shift+F. There is a bit more info about using the 360 controller near the bottom of that same page.
  18. You could try taking it back into your inventory and then getting it out again which will reset the script.
  19. Here is some info on how to configure your firewall so that Second Life will work: https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Using-Second-Life-with-a-firewall/ta-p/1304539
  20. You might get an answer here but I don't see much chat in the forum about building viewers. There is a mailing list called OpenSource Mailing List opensource-dev@lists.secondlife.com. The chat can be a bit choppy from time to time so mind your P's and Q's.
  21. If you have a griefer and they put something on your land you are lucky because all you have to do is return it. It is when they put it on someone else's land that it is a problem.
  22. A couple of things you could try, 1. Make sure that your AV is not scanning your viewer cache. 2. Put your cache on a RAM disk, see the link to my article below.
  23. Oh, OK, you had a cannot access error message on the setup file which suggested that windows or your anti-virus program was blocking it and I sent you this link http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2669244. Did you give that a try?
