  1. As a quick heads up to anyone getting the WRONG sets - the kitchen is fantastic and I love it, but the jacuzzi patio set has some struggles. Namely, the LOD is such that literally the table won't look right unless you're literally in the pergola, and the pergola itself turns into a mass of lines at any distance at all. Also, the deck has baked on shadows from the jacuzzi, which may make resizing/adjusting trickier. All that said, it's a great looking set if you can deal with the oddities. I just personally ended up giving up and just keeping the kitchen set.
  2. Ooh, all ladies invited to comment? Excellent! Hm. He doesn't appear to be a lesbian or even a woman, so unfortunately I have to dock him several points from the start... Maybe he could do a bit more to take after some butch princely types? (Sorry, just thought it was a little funny that orientation was only specified for one group of responders.)
  3. Yeah, I'll confess as OP that some of my interest in Linden Homes has vanished for mysterious reasons the last day or so. (And plans for green roofs, cafes, etc have been scrapped.)
  4. The thing is, at least personally, I don't know where things fall using "better judgment". Gorgeous in-theme tiny slopes are out, which isn't a thing that would have ever occurred to me as being outside the boundary, as an example. Common sense seems to only work here if your ideas line up exactly with the unspoken rules naturally.
  5. I go between what I'm doing/what's my 'main home', but at the moment - Linden Home for general living and standing around when semi-idle, a mainland community plot that I mostly made because I wanted to make a forest cafe, and then over that a skybox that's my actual 'home spot' so that if I log in in an awkward situation I'm not risking anyone seeing me. (It also has a lovely rain ambience going, so if I'm really tuned out I can use Second Life as a white noise generator...) Honestly, I won't lie about why I favor living on the ground - I like the idea of people seeing what I've done and approving of it. I just want the attention! (And, okay, community and all that.)
  6. There were def lolita groups in the past, but I have no idea what's happened to them in the intervening years. Related to what Sparkle said above, Bare Rose is still around and making... an infinite and dazzling variety of products, including many that are lolita and lolita-adjacent, although they come with some caveats (a particular stiff look that can be hit or miss, and also trying to navigate their store). DuDu also has some super cute dresses and other options. I've struggled to find actual proper lolita for Maitreya; back when I was rocking Kemono there were a lot more, but it seems like few 'modern' makers are doing it. Those that are fall into the SL trap of "take IRL things, raise the hemline, and lower the neckline"... Sort of the opposite of what I want, haha.
  7. Same plan here! Maybe you could get away with it by calling it one very large rooftop planter...? In all honesty, it is a bit disappointing. All the roofs showcased look perfectly great and in-theme to me.
  8. I absolutely love the house I caught (totally on the first try, not the fourth...), although admittedly with the caveat that a lot depends on what happens to the west coast in the coming months. For right now, I'm enjoying my stunning view of the void. The 512-on-1024 thing is brilliant, I think - I always struggle to fully decorate a Linden house within the prim allowance, and miss getting to do landscaping. Now I have a house that's more than big enough with a gorgeous deck, paired with room for a pool and more to spare.
  9. Listen, I wrote this thread far too late at night and apparently forgot that puns, rhymes, and fantasy novels existed... Thank you for all the great responses, btw! Even if some of y'all are tempting me into getting more premium accounts.
  10. I'll admit that I might be coming at this from a different angle than y'all, because at the moment I can only really justify the one premium account (and that barely). If I go hunting, I do have to wager my current house entirely! Still, it's been interesting hearing what everyone else does. Maybe someday I'll find the forever spot... Or get so distracted by building houses in The Sims that my decoration urge slows a bit.
  11. Hey, all! Hope it's okay to pester you all, just got curious... I'm currently in a houseboat, which I thought was my ultimate dream, with an edge on the protected waterway and a corner plot. Yet I'm already feeling the urge to throw it back into the wild and see what else I can find. Maybe I can get a log house right in the perfect spot, maybe I can luck into a stilt on the pier with those gorgeous views, maybe another houseboat but one of the ones tucked against the coast and secluded, maybe Newbrooke, maybe... And whatever I get, it'll mean a new wave of decorating and such, which may be my favorite part. To some degree, I've managed to curtail the feeling of "new home every week" by having a more steady Mainland house and just shuffling through Linden homes. Still, sometimes it feels a little weird giving up an entire house and all the work I spent on it just because I want to see if Victorians are worth the fuss! So I'm curious to see if others feel the same, or if former avid players of the Game of Houses at last found the one spot where they settled. What drives the urge to constantly move? What would get you to stay? Have you found a forever spot, or at least a forever-for-now spot? Would love to know!
  12. I hope it's okay to post again; I don't want to spam! I just had some fun with my new houseboat and wanted to share. Main everyday home is on the Mainland now, so hey! Why not make my houseboat a cafeboat? All are welcome; it's in Yeah Buoy!
  13. Speaking as someone in the same boat, depending on the style you want, you may have more luck looking at unisex or even men's styles. Dura has a good range of unisex styles - I got a super cute faux-undercut that's become my day-to-day hair from them.
  14. Clearly we need new constellations! Second Life constellations based on rumors of old - look, there are the Clicky Clacky Shoes, and amid the stars stands Ruth the Protector...
  15. The new houseboat is in the incredibly well named Yeah Buoy.
  16. Thank you to whoever gave up this beautiful houseboat, with nothing but sailing-ready water on two sides...
  17. Changed my look a lot lately, so I thought it might be time for a new profile pic...
  18. I personally like the look of being a little too leggy to look natural. I blame growing up with CLAMP anime...
  19. This was way, way back in the day on another account, in the days of flying boosts and the like. I, being an overdramatic teen, had a pair of huge angel wings that worked as a flight booster that I wore everywhere. I also at the time was wearing a loose impression of a priestly outfit for reasons of terrible anime (see again, teen). So one day I'm flying around at random trying to find any interesting spots to land when I notice someone else at the same height and approach. They're a little startled but greet me, we get to talking, etc. Over the course of our short conversation it becomes clear that: -He was up there to change in private, and; -We are over the in-world Baptist church that he runs. I still wonder what the hell he was thinking when he was half-naked and suddenly a priest with angel wings and absolutely no social boundaries swooped down on him...
  20. Imagine me as Eris, rolling a golden-foil-wrapped apple into the hall, that when unwrapped turns out to be half chocolate mint and half chocolate orange...
  21. Tuty's female AOs definitely shift around a lot for me, but I've found their Gentleman AO is actually a really nice unisex choice if you want something fairly low-key. Fidgets enough to look interesting, without the constant dancing in place or weird spine-twisting poses.
  22. Honest question - are you on the autism spectrum, or something similar like ADHD? This sounds like a harmful stim to me. Stimming when excited by moving around and making noises is normal and great, but hitting yourself is a problem! I'd talk to your therapist, but in the meantime, can you redirect? One of my stress-related stims is very similar, and I've discovered that a stuffed animal I own gives a satisfying bounce-back that relieves the impulse. Try a pillow, your bed, or anything else soft. The noises are fine.
  23. It's a little interesting for me; I'm AFAB nonbinary IRL, and pretty butch-looking in how I present myself, but my SL avatar leans a lot more feminine than the actual me. Part of it's just availability - I hate the popular male bodies and there's not really all that much out there for V-Tech/Maitreya Flat - but part of it is that I do enjoy fashion and dressing Someone up, just not me. Sure, IRL I may exclusively wear jeans, but I can put my avatar in a cute skirt that I'd hate to be seen in IRL. There's a safe level of distance that lets me explore more feminine fashion without worrying about people making assumptions about who I am. Plus, heeled boots just look good, okay?
  24. Hope it's okay to throw in my little house! Today my abandoned land buy came through and I was able to expand from a 1024 to a 2048, so I'm excited.
  25. In Second Life, one can live out their greatest fantasies, like putting their boots on the couch without needing to clean after...
