  1. Hope it's okay to share here - I was lucky enough to get a Newbrooke right next to a rail station, so I've opened a little coffee shop in my home! There's some games in the backroom, outdoor seating, and also, uh, multiple cats. (Listen, I always need to have cats). Come visit, and please sign the guestbook if you do! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Some Pig/148/137/22
  2. There's a couple of really fantastic houseboats still around in Some Pig, right next to the rail station. Attached is probably my favorite free one, but there's some rectangle ones too. Plus, plenty of Newbrooke houses too.
  3. Mainframe event means it's time to get glowy and neon again...
  4. Sometimes it's possible to go overboard getting into the season... Now I have to untangle these things.
  5. I think it's important to, once in a while, put together an outfit that would make your 14 year old self proud.
  6. Got a dream on the last roll - canal, bridge, rez zone... What else can you ask for?
  7. Can't believe I just totally forgot Krankhaus! The fancy top with the vest gets so much wear, haha... Thank you so much for the tips!
  8. So, some talk about the subject in passing elsewhere made me think about this, and I figured I'd reach out here and see if anyone else had tips or favorite shopping spots for those going for a flatter look. What I know about: -Pixicat has some of their clothes in flat, for general high-quality tops. (Tragically, none of the blazer tops...) -Fuayu has more stuff on the femboy side, but also some cute t-shirts. -Edgy Kittiee has some super cute grunge-style clothing with lots of customization options. -CLBlue makes a fair variety of different options, including swimwear. What I'd love to see is more decent quality formalwear - right now if I want to wear a suit it comes with boobs, which seems mildly ironic. Plus, y'know, just general options and alternatives for standard clothing. (And yes, I've been to Itty Bitty events. It's usually all Perky, which is great but not what I'm there for.) So! Know of any great spots in-world? Any places to stay away from? Clothes meant for male bodies that fit Maitreya surprisingly well? Anything else fun or interesting? Let's talk!
  9. Joining the gang of people who don't use voice because of auditory issues. For me, not being able to see lips, poor audio quality/noise, and people talking over each over just means I'm going to get one word in ten if I'm lucky. Plus, trying to process it for too long tends to slowly shut down my ability to understand words at all. Fun autism things! As for the main thrust of things... I dunno, maybe it's because I'm nonbinary and my avatar is firmly Whatever, but I don't get it. If I were somehow entering an intimate relationship through SL I'd want to make sure I knew what gender they were, since cis men do play women and vice versa, but that's about it for me. Friendship and casual conversations I just go with whatever you indicate you are. Luckily, even though I still think I'm gorgeous, like many people here once I started wearing short hair (and Maitreya Flat) people seem to have stopped being so constantly weird...
  10. Rapid Home Movement is a serious problem affecting many SL residents. Look for the telltale signs - as soon as you finish decorating, do you immediately start thinking about what you could do with a different theme? Have you become an expert on counting abandonment refreshes? Do you have a Linden Home, a rented home, and multiple skyboxes? Help is available. Anyways, on an obviously totally unrelated note, my new Log Home backyard's looking nice...
  11. Did you ever know that you're my hero... Also, sorry about the confused IMs I sent you. I'd forgotten I made this post, so when something appeared in my inventory just named "Crayon", I was like "is this some sort of obscure phishing attack, or someone who thinks I need coloring time?"
  12. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/UTILIZATOR-CRF50-PitBke/12797474 Best balance of reasonable price and reasonable control I've found so far. That said, I'm looking for a dream Vespa or similar scooter, so if anyone has recs...
  13. New laptop arrived today, so went riding a bit to celebrate having a functioning graphics card.
  14. Glad to see a few people pointing out that sometimes unrealistic proportions are deliberate. I've come to the realization that, personally, I'm not great at perfect proportions, and my attempts tend to look worse for being just slightly off. What's more, most "proportional" Maitreya shapes for sale make assumptions about what I want out of my figure that aren't correct (ie, adding a lot of curves). So, I have a shape that's more or less deliberately on the lanky and long-limbed side, to evoke anime and/or elven ambiguous figures. Yes, my legs are super long and thin - I promise that's the point! You don't need to point it out! That said, I at least make sure my arms are also pretty long. Gotta be able to put on my boots...
  15. I will say I'm less likely to be drawn to people who seem to fit a few specific molds - shirtless ultra-tall men with short cropped hair, women with all the asset sliders cranked to the max, etc. It's not a judgment so much as that I have nothing really to bring up to them. If they have something quirky or interesting or out of the mold, that provides a conversational jumping off piece. I worked with a dude who always carried around a teddy bear, for example. Nonhuman traits, interesting dress choices, brightly colored hair - all of those give me something I can note beyond "wow, you sure have blonde hair and a very small dress". And I've noticed the same in turn! I've definitely gotten a lot more positive commentary since I started regularly wearing an unusual tail, and people have noted that I have a "style" for hairs I wear and will send me recs for appropriate options. I like making my avatars visually distinct, and even if specifics vary you could probably always spot me in a crowd as "the one with red short hair, giant boots, and piercings". So I don't think it's so much an issue of perfection vs not as it is uniqueness vs not. It's easier to approach someone who's signalling something about themselves that they clearly want to be noticed, and that often looks "imperfect".
  16. Update to this: was able to order a new computer, which was meant to be here Wednesday... but the shipping tracker just changed the estimate to Friday. I can only do so much with my phone, damnit!
  17. There's one particular room in the Faraday (the open-doorway room) that absolutely hates having anything rezzed in, near, or around it, I swear. I ended up having to put basically everything onto a rug outside and move it in. Not sure why that one room is so godawful, but if anyone else is struggling with the Faraday I'd def recommend throwing in a temp floor prim there.
  18. Welp, was just starting a fun day on SL when my computer spontaneously and without warning kicked the bucket. Now I need to figure that whole mess out...
  19. Oh hey, we have the same bamboo! I think they've said rooftop gardens and patios should be alright, so I say go for it. I think it looks great.
  20. Fixed for you, but not for me! (Nonbinary lesbians represent.) Okay, I'll stop getting into the intricacies of gender and orientation on the silly pretty man picture thread, promise...
  21. Oh, same. Identity has a lot to do with attraction, for me, and what I find meh on a dude would be fascinating on a lesbian. (And, of course, trans people are fully included in this.) That said, I'd still want to restyle their hair a bit, but that's just fussiness on my part. And a desire for more undercuts in the world.
  22. Oh yeah, she could absolutely get a nice butch look going if she worked at it. Time to hit her with the ol' lesbianizer ray...
  23. Alas, no movie - it was a live performance for Shakespeare in the Park. I'm sure someone has recordings, but you'd have to dig...
  24. For what it's worth, I was really just joking with my post. I've seen some general assumption of what "ladies" are interested in on this forum, and while I could name an example that maybe does bother me, this isn't it. I just saw a chance to make a stupid joke and took it! Here, to make peace, an image I think we all can enjoy of another princely sort. (Anne Hathaway doing Twelfth Night, for the curious. Also a big part of my lesbian awakening...)
