  1. I absolutely love my Legacy body but I freaking hate the Legacy HUD so much that I go to great lengths to avoid using it. I have a problem where, probably due to my shape or my AO's stands, I frequently get armpit glitches (sounds gross but I'm talking about my avatar) with clothing that has sleeves, and occasionally small glitches in other places. I do not wish to change my shape or my stands, and I do not wish to use the HUD to activate/deactivate alpha cuts. What I would dearly love, and will happily pay for, is a collection of small alphas that I could apply to these problem areas only. I did grab a nice free collection of alphas from Little Black Dress but they're much too large; I have a number of things that are low cut or have transparent sections, so I'd prefer to apply alphas that are as small as possible. I know I can just make these myself but if someone's already done the work I'd rather just pay them for it.
  2. lmao I had no idea about this Do these forums have even one redeeming quality? I'm starting to think my habit of coming here is one I need to kick.
  3. Good lord you people love replying to things that nobody ever said. Anyhow, this is pretty far off the OP's topic so I'm not going to waste my time anymore.
  4. That's really not the point, though. Most people don't run around with their viewer WL/EEP set to something that makes everyone look garish and weird, and those who do know what they've done. Most people either use the shared local environment or have one of the basic day/night/sunset/sunrise settings (that they probably forgot about). The point is not, "I want to control exactly what everyone sees when they look at me." The point is, "I want to look nice to normal people with typical settings." Personally, I just avoid places with really weird lighting (or refuse to feel guilty about using a subtle facelight in such places--yes I know they can be turned off in the viewer, but most people probably don't), and also avoid wearing anything that does really obnoxious stuff in certain kinds of light (e.g. HD applier makeup for EvoX), but I can see how someone might just get really frustrated with it all.
  5. This does not change how other people see your avatar. For anyone whose enjoyment of SL involves the social presentation of their avatar, the effect of the environment on their appearance to others is a significant and valid concern.
  6. First Life isn't fair and neither is Second Life so I'll use whatever I can to get a leg up, including area search and hiding my lookats while seeing everyone else's (who isn't hiding them). I will not apologize for these things. But anyway area search is easily foiled, so its primary use for me is finding items in badly organized shops. Now there's a peeve! Have some kind of organizing principle if you're a big shop, please.
  7. [woeful country music] Oh SLAM//1 phone One night I took you home But I got cold feet Did an accidental delete Now I'm all alone Oh sweet SLAM//1 Thought we'd have us some fun Wondered if you were bad And before I knew what I had You were up and gone
  8. I think for many people, myself included, SL is a great distraction and a terrible hobby. People who are into the creative side of SL get a lot more out of it, and good for them, but I think for people like me it's a place to goof around and have fun. Low expectations are the key. It's a guilty pleasure. It sounds like where you're coming from is, you need to get out of yourself for a bit (which SL can definitely offer) and engage in something fulfilling that creates an experience beyond, "Oh hey this is kinda cool" (which SL is at best hit-or-miss). Best thing I can suggest is a library card and one of those online lists of books everyone should read. Those lists are all terrible but they'll get you to try something you wouldn't have otherwise, and that's the key. Get your brain going a bit, then come back to SL when it needs a rest.
  9. Is this one of the ones that comes in separate "Cutiebootie" and "Blueberry Wedgie Booty" versions?
  10. The real problem here is disuse. None of these things will work if nobody uses them, and that would take a lot more initiative than I usually see in SL. People generally want things done for them, so I propose a system of force teleporting people to destinations based on keyword and profile matches. "Oh, you like detective stories and exploring wilderness? Welcome to The Sex Crime Murder Forest."
  11. Yeah, neck fades are worth mentioning. It used to be a "neck fix" meant an ugly ring around your neck but those days are long gone now that heads and bodies attach so nicely. It's just a fade tattoo and it works so well I use one just because I didn't like the matching body skin as much as I like my old non-matching one.
  12. The only issue I've seen with wearing a BoM skin made for a different body is the navel or nipples might be off by a few pixels. If they support other bodies besides Maitreya I'd check to see if some of them look better or worse on Freya, then pick the one you think is best. Check fingers and toes closely as well.
  13. If it's any comfort, it's practically a ghost town. You are missing absolutely nothing aside from people posting their pixels in the "tasteful nudes" thread.
  14. I've only had a Legacy Female body for a couple of months now, but I've noticed (especially after the 1.5.1 update) that when alpha cuts are toggled on or off, it's just soooo slow. For example, if you take off a top that has most of the chest invisible, the repaint is so slow you can just sit there and watch each cut activate. My experience with Tonic and Maitreya bodies is that this is nearly instantaneous by comparison. There might be a slight delay but you're not watching your body slowly get painted back. So I'm starting to wonder, is this just normal for Legacy or did I do something to bork up my body in some way and not realize it. I've also noticed after the last update that when I first attach the body, feet, and hands, there's a moment in which BoM switches back off for the feet and hands, and then switches on again after a second or two. This is just super weird to me. Tonic BoM was just on and forgotten. I reattached the 1.4 body and I did notice similar behavior but much faster, just a blink. So again, I'm wondering if I did something to cause this problem, or if this is just normal behavior I have to live with.
  15. People can argue about scripts and root prims all they want but I have a simple guide that, in my opinion, avoids the flame bait: If you're looking for a sim crosser, shop at places that aren't afraid to have a mainland demo rezzer right by the road. If you're looking for a racer, shop at places that have a good demo track. This is also really fun, even if you're not looking to buy a vehicle.
  16. This argument assumes all people running bots have bad intentions or have no regard for other residents. Let's start by not assuming the worst of all people. I think we should start from the assumption that well-intentioned bot managers would like a way for their agents to be programmatically identified by other residents. Instead of assuming everyone is up to no good, let's empower people to be good. And if they're not, then that would be another (unfortunate) conversation to have, if it should come to pass. I like the positivity of @Rick Daylight's proposal.
  17. Not much of a photographer but I did have enough fun with this to feel like taking a picture.
  18. For those following along, I did finally settle on this dress from EXiA, which looks pretty much nothing at all like Alice's dress (no sleeves, no pinafore, no round neck or collar) but somehow captured the mood I was going for when I added some striped socks. Unfortunately the Legacy requirement ruled out a lot of really good options. Maitreya still rules when it comes to costumes and roleplay outfits. I'm definitely pleased with the dress overall, and there were a couple of other strong contenders from the same shop, as well as from Loki and Web Dew.
  19. I think what I like about this proposal is that it gives scripted agents, bots, whatever, the opportunity to behave as good citizens. I think we should be supportive of people who want to run things like this in a way that's meant to be above board. If such services or groups suddenly don't want to identify their agents when it means they could be subject to detection and restriction, well, then we can have a different conversation.
  20. I think this is a useful and desirable feature that would improve Second Life for everyone. I've added myself as a watcher and I'd encourage anyone else who sees this as an improvement to do the same.
  21. Overblown or not, that ship has definitely sailed, but that won't stop some people from getting their panties in a bunch over invisible underwear. Meanwhile, every major hair maker:
  22. Have you seen Facebook? Older people are exactly the reason we need to have a lengthy discussion about the blocking feature.
  23. People flying into nerd rages over invisible underwear makes me want to add some myself. So many dudes walk around with a hidden Aeros, that's what, a dozen invisible dicks? But a woman wants to do something with clothes and all of a sudden it's "MUH FRAMERATE! ALL THOSE TRIANGLES!" lmao How much hair comes with style HUDs now? Pretty much every major hair creator has them. How do you think those work? Oh, but invisible panties! The triangles! How do you think clothing with strip stages works? B-but... panties! Framerates! Edit for clarification: I'm not defending any of these invisible attachments, it's just funny to me which things people decide to get mad about. Funny how it's always women's bodies and women's clothes that are problems for some nerd's very important frame rate number.
  24. Yes, I have the update and have used these, even set up gestures for some of them so I don't have to type out /1meshbody yadayada, but painting your toenails still requires the dang styles tab. Definitely the one thing that felt like a downgrade from my old Tonic body when I switched to Legacy a few months ago. It's something I enjoyed and now I don't do it nearly as much as I used to.
