  1. Ironically, due to a little adventure I had shortly after making the above post, I would definitely like to see a feature that notifies people that they've been muted by someone, just so it's clear to them that they would be wasting their time replying. I feel like I would be behaving too dramatically if I were to tell people that they've been muted but it really would be better for them to know somehow, otherwise they go making a bunch of replies and that's just silly and tedious for everyone involved. Well except me, I don't have to read those, haha.
  2. Whatever you do, don't google image search high heels on the beach, many of you are going to be so upset. Edit for clarification: Personally I think it's a little goofy and never do it myself, but I think it's fair to say it's a type of whimsy that SL lets you engage in, and I suspect many of the people who do it, do so knowingly, not because they're clueless.
  3. I'm 100% satisfied with the way the blocking feature works. I don't think it should have any impact at all on the person who is blocked. If I'm annoying or upsetting anyone, then I sincerely hope they're blocking me instead of having to see my posts. I don't want to cause discomfort or unhappiness for anyone who's just trying to read the forums or whatever, but I don't want them making that my problem, either. That said, I do sometimes wonder if - in spite of the drama it's likely to cause - people could be notified they've been blocked when they're quoting someone in a reply or whatever, just so they don't waste time on a reply that won't likely be seen. As for it being a generational thing, ehhh, everyone wants to say how sensitive the kids are or whatever but honestly when you get to a certain age you realize you don't have to put up with everyone's BS if you don't want to. If younger people are figuring out the same thing earlier than I did, then good on them.
  4. Another small thing that would be really helpful: merchant/shop names being automatically excluded from item searches. There's already a separate search for merchants/shops, and I do not want every single item sold by Bob Pinafore showing up when I'm searching for pinafore.
  5. I'm looking for an Alice In Wonderland dress for Legacy that doesn't look like it came from a Spirit Halloween shop. In other words, similar to John Tenniel's illustrations or the Disney movie: puffed sleeves, collared or round neck, circular skirt a bit below the knees but not too long, and (ideally) a pinafore, or at least a nice bow in the back. I won't hold my breath on the pinafore. Prefer light blue but any light or bright color is fine. Bowtique had one that would be close if it didn't have uncovered shoulders and wasn't solid under the skirt. Barring a close match, I'm open to suggestions for something that captures the spirit of Alice's dress. Unfortunately most of the ones I feel get the skirt right have very 1950s looking necklines.
  6. I... never... knew! 🤯 I've wasted tens of lindens! TENS!!!
  7. You can also breathe new life into stands that you're tired of and/or do weird things with the hands by just holding stuff. I always like to check out the places I'm in for fun food and drink dispensers and have a pretty good collection of holdables I've gotten on sale for when I can't find anything. But I'll also second Vista as a good place for stands. I do the same thing with the Firestorm AO, and have mostly dirt cheap animations from Kuso, except the stands which I finally replaced with some that I liked from Vista. Body Language is nice, I love their gift AO from SL19B, but I find their movement looks a little too slow and careful, probably because I'm naturally fidgety irl.
  8. Well I'm much happier with the 1:1 profile picture but I'm pretty annoyed that LL removing the old web profiles also took away the ability to upload a 1:1 profile picture for free. I don't like groups being under the bio text. That's weird and difficult to get used to. Maybe I'll get used to it anyway.
  9. My experience has been that the longer someone has been in SL, the more likely they are to "know" (and often be very certain about) something that's actually wrong, that used to be true and isn't anymore, or that has been generalized from their own experiences and social groups but doesn't hold true for the much larger world that they're often not very aware of because they've been in the same spaces with the same people for years. And my main is pretty old so I'm probably just as guilty of this as anyone.
  10. I'm gonna throw you a curve ball and suggest that a great niche body that deserves some attention, and actually has some following, is the dev Nana Fitness female body. Not a skinny fashion model body at all, but also not the current trend of "curvy" female bodies in SL either, and you did say "niche." Outside of female wrestling places, you see a fair number of them in LGBTQ+ sex clubs, and I suspect they'd be interested in something eye catching and aren't afraid to look a little different.
  11. This was a fun read! Denny, I'm 2cm shorter than what you reported in the OP and I go to adult (and I mean very adult) places in the "human community" all the time. No one's said a thing about my height. In fact, the only place that ever gave me any difficulty over my appearance was not in the "human community." Some wolf guy said my ponytail made me look like a teen and was against his parcel's rules. I laughed, and left, because it wasn't that different from the ponytail I usually wear to the office in real life, and believe me I am no spring chicken. Never went back, and it looks like that place isn't even around anymore. Good thing I didn't get on the forums and post a bunch of drama about it, otherwise I'd be feeling rather foolish now! Also, my avatar is fully human and I hang out in furry places all the time. No one's ever given me any grief about it. I see neko types and whatever the bunny ones are in those places all the time, no one seems to mind having them around. There are a few places that are clearly described as furry only and I respect that and have never tried to go to them. So I have to wonder why you say you can't fit in when you're in furry places, either. As for the "human community," there really is no such thing. There are a bunch of different human communities, each with different norms and expectations. I've been in packed clubs where I stood out for being tall, and on beaches where I felt like a reverse Gulliver. But you seem to have a real chip on your shoulder about something you think is the "human community" which sounds like one or two places where you weren't able to get along, for some reason. Sounds like wherever you go, people start looking for reasons you can't be there. Probably not an appearance problem.
  12. This is honestly no worse than what every Legacy owner has to live with. Cazimi has been a life saver for me.
  13. Nobody else seems to have asked this but, best body for what? Everybody has their own idea of what the best body is but everybody also has their own things they like to do in SL, so chances are they're right, the body they have is the best one for doing their thing. If you want to hang a lot of beautiful clothes on your body and have access to lots of high quality, well-rigged fashions from the best designers, not just now but for the past 8 years or so, then it's hard to beat Maitreya Lara. If the unclothed (or mostly unclothed, e.g. bikini, lingerie) appearance of your body is important to you, and your desired body type is outside a fairly narrow range of slender/petite, then it's pretty easy to beat Maitreya Lara (though in fairness the development of deformers has done a lot to even the playing field here, so it's not entirely either/or). If Reborn's butt is too big for you in this regard, I suggest looking at Legacy. Some nerds will get upset about triangles; I consider this a bonus. If you are interested in adult activities and the animations that accompany them, and you don't want it to look like your pelvis is trying to eject itself from your body in certain poses (typically ankles to earlobes, if you get my drift), you'd be wise to take demo versions of the bodies you're interested in to someplace you can test these out because, boy howdy, some of them do much better than others at this. Hey fellow Tonic refugee! I wound up going to Legacy when it became clear that Prima was DOA. I felt it was the closest to the Tonic Curvy in terms of 1) butt and 2) movement/animation. I picked mine up during the Halloween sale for half price, so I definitely recommend keeping an eye on Legacy sales. I'd grab a demo and see if you like it, I suspect Legacy Perky will do well for a Tonic Fine replacement. I just could not accept the Maitreya Buns of Steel after looking at my lovely, soft Tonic behind for so long. That said, you are going to hate the Legacy HUD and complexity. Everything that was easy with Tonic is hard with Legacy, whether it's switching on BoM or doing your nails or fiddling with alpha cuts. It is, without a doubt, the worst HUD for a body. I honestly don't know why they insist on making it so bad but you can tell someone there is very attached to the idea that using the HUD should be a nightmare. Fortunately, you don't need it a lot. In fact, the latest release includes new chat commands for some of the HUD functions. Let's hope we get more of that.
  14. I just recently thought about this problem again and I've found 2 items that might do what I want, so I thought I'd overcome my forums distaste long enough to put them here for anyone else who might run across this post and have the same problem. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Just-Play-Blue-Vixen/13586453 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Grabability-104/23870120 Of the two, the second (Grabability) sounds the most like what I'm looking for, so I'm going to give that one a try and perhaps eventually report back.
  15. lmao newbies rarely post to the forum, it's the same 4 dozen people with thousands of posts each over and over again, and if more of them did, even with their dumb questions, it would be better than 99% of what's already here. SL perpetuates its own stale culture over and over again
  16. Well if you've ever walked a newbie through getting out of their crappy starter av and into a free mesh av you might understand why it would make a difference to new members. My point was that LL has no interest in supporting things that don't make them money. Which is normal and entirely expected. And so that's why NUX will be better than the starter avs but no great shakes otherwise.
  17. The point of NUX is not to fill the role of currently available mesh bodies and I would drop dead from shock if it was as good as any of them. In fact, I would be surprised if it was as good as any of the freebie eBody or Altamura bodies. Linden Lab wants you to look like hot garbage compared to everyone else except for Meta Zuckerbots. They want you to log in to SL for the first time and not look a 20 year old lump of rancid pixels. Beyond that, they still want you to buy linden $$, so there's no way it will be that good. Why do people keep thinking it will be comparable? The sooner it gets stuffed into your forgotten inventory because you bought something better, the better for LL's bottom line. They don't even really want people to find out about the free bodies you can get now, in my opinion. Let me know if they make a howto video for eBody Curvy. lmao there's no way, because you don't need to spend money for that. They want you buying those lindens and feeding the machine.
  18. Thanks for mentioning this, it caused me to check and I see that the Legacy Halloween event has all their bodies half price through November 1. I was going to wait for Black Friday but who knows if they'll do that for sure so I'm glad I caught this!
  19. A nice thing about having a body that hardly anyone makes things for anymore is that you're rarely tempted to spend money on clothes. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
  20. Do you know if there are plans for a more gooey add-on, like INM has? Uh, asking for a friend
  21. Creators will charge the value of their labor either way, it's just a question of whether people buying for one body should subsidize people buying for multiple bodies. As a one body girl, I would prefer not to.
  22. Exactly. Sorry if I was unclear, I agree with you completely and it's why I'm hesitant about shelling out any money for bodies that don't have strong launches like Legacy and Reborn did. I think that's the current conventional wisdom and it definitely makes sense. What's interesting about Erika, though, is that people say it seems to be gaining again. If that's true, then that would go against the conventional wisdom about big launches and that would be a fun thing to watch whether I wind up getting the body or not. I hope so, because I'm naturally inclined to root for the underdog, and I really do think it's a good body that deserves more attention.
  23. You know who did pass out dev kits like candy? Tonic. You didn't even have to fill out an application, it was just L$100 at the mainstore to get the mesh makers' kit. And in spite of both bodies being really good for their time, and even now, they never broke into the majors.
  24. I mean, I actually want to be talked to like that but it's kinda weird when my shower says it to me. If I wasn't stuck on 3.5 I'd change it to something like Decontamination aborted! Warning: biohazard still detected on life form.
  25. I would like a collar or some other type of RLV system that allows me to select items/functions that are visible to anyone with public access, hide others, and (ideally) let me customize some of the menu text. I'm not talking about access restrictions so much as just visibility and presentation. Currently I'm using Wendy Starfall's Peanut Playset (free full version that I got grandfathered into I think) and I've played around a little bit with OpenCollar. The problem I'm trying to solve is one where a lot of useful functions (like force sit) are down in the RLV menu instead of at the top, restricted items still have buttons that respond with a confusing access denied message, and it's not clear to the uninitiated what a lot of things even do. For partners used to playing with RLV and each other, that's not much of a problem. I play with strangers in dangerous places, and a huge portion of them, probably the overwhelming majority, are idiots to begin with and certainly don't have a lot of experience clicking through every kind of collar menu. It puts a bit of a damper on the fun to have to explain all this stuff to my captor. The ideal case would be one where I could create a simple menu for dummies with just a few buttons like "Force Sit", "Strip", and "Grab Leash" that would bring up the correct menu/function, and leave off all the other stuff completely.
