Obligatory quarterly... Can we please have some more last names, less joke names, more often, outside of themed ones for holidays, wider selection aka more to choose from?. When they announced they were bringing back surnames I was like "Yeah wonder what they will have". Now I am like "Oh, independence day is coming up. Lemme guess Freedom and Liberty are to be announced.....woo.....". Just open the back catalogue already and let people choose past surnames. No one cares. You will make more money. Literally have a page dedicated to searching out your perfect name from all the ones available. Yes you may have the occasional die hard like "Yerrrr but thats murrrrr surname" but screw those people they probably eat the fungus from between their toes. Please for the love of god....give us some decent surnames and open up that back catalogue. Such a half assed attempt at bringing surnames back. Got like one linden in a back office somewhere going "Ohhhhhh thats cute lets use UwU".....purlease. Find popular words or phrases that haven't been used before would be a good start. Vampire, Vampyre, Vampiric, Vlad, Impaler, Lycan, Necromancer Shinobi, Ninja, Viking, Soul, Soulless, Bard, Knight, Caster, Healer, Odin, Thor, Zeus, Hades, Racer, Optimist, Avenger, Fireman, Officer, Medic, Goth, Punk, Rocker, Emo, Metalhead, Dubstepper, Belieber, Victorian, Edwardian, West, Wildwest, Miner, Cowboy, Cowgirl, Rebel, Outlaw.....Jesus the list goes on. Do something... Okay obligatory quarterly rant over.

I must have mentioned this numerous times at various in world meetings, jira, on one of my accounts on this forum. I would love for them to just open up the old list of names and let people choose whatever they want. I have a few legacy names and I could give a damn if anyone else wanted one of them as their surname. First of all. This is probably in the wrong section. But, given we don’t have a section for discussing general creation ideas and concepts (hint hint LL) I’m posting it here as the project does involve scripting. Even if the question doesn’t. If it’s better served elsewhere then admin can move. I want to create a mission system for my combat system. However, the system isn’t tied to land and is able to be used anywhere in the grid. I am running short on ideas for what missions you could set for a PVP orientated combat system that is usable anywhere on the grid. There is the standard of kill x people, play for x time, visit x regions etc etc. But I would love to have some kind of adventure type missions that would take people around SL and engage them in a story with tasks to complete. i appreciate that not everyone will want someone randomly dropping in on their sim so it would have to be a fluid system that adapts to the sim or parcel you are on. What are your thoughts on a system like this and how do you think it would be best to implement it and can you throw me any ideas for ways to make it interesting with the obvious restrictions that would be imposed?.

Hmm a heavy focus on the social. They always say that. I am very happy that Phillip is back but I would have liked to see him talking about the technical improvements also. Its always social, photography, blogging etc etc. We need a new focus on improving native building, new scripting functions, fixing old functions, or even better yet LSL 2.0, better animation tools and features etc etc.

As an update. It turns out that neither the official viewer or the Firestorm viewer's version of SL voice are requesting permission to access the microphone. Kinda weird. Annoyingly I can't find a way to add them manually. Further interesting note. Installing the official viewer gives you the message that the app needs updating otherwise it won't work with future versions of Mac OS.

Anyone have any ideas. I have tried everything. I can hear voice I just can not speak. Have reset voice, changed device, restarted, made sure FS is authorised in the security and privacy section, re installed firestorm. I am out of ideas. Anyone having a similar issue?

Again though. It's all theme names. Is it too much to ask for that we get some semi interesting non theme names. That all we have had for the last year. Theme names. When they said they were bringing back last names I was hoping for a little more than what's been on offer. God I miss the old days. I really don't understand why they can't recycle old surnames. I have a few accounts with surnames from back then and I could honestly care less if they offered them out again. I seldom ever meet anyone with any of my surnames now, unlike years ago. I personally think it would be incredibly neat to start seeing people around the grid again with the same surname. -SL back then- Create account, pick surname, start building, lots of fun and creativity -SL now- Create account, pay for premium, pay for a handful of themed surnames, realise you have to study a series of college courses and programs to create your own rock, give up, use the same five prefabs everyone else uses and stand around semi afk all day.

Why is it that when we make a texture within photoshop it looks nice and crisp. And yet, when we import it into second life and apply it to a prim it doesn't carry the same resolution over?. I have created a HUD design that fills up a 512x1024 sized texture but there is a slight noticeable degradation in quality when positioned on my HUD than what I have in photoshop. Is there a way to improve PNG quality when displayed in world or does this have to do with SL's rendering engine?. The left side is in world and the right side is in photoshop. See what I mean, there is a slight degradation.

Not too sure on how to do this one. So asking you fine people. I have a floating text bar. I want to fade from say red to green depending on whether a percentage is 0 or 100. So at 0% it would be fully red. 100% would be fully green. Now, there is the basic way of doing it I think which is an <R,G,B> vector that increases / decreases red or green depending on the percentage. That way is easy enough. But what if you don't want full red <1,0,0> or full green <0,1,0>. What if you wanted to fade between two different shades of green and red and the two vectors were like <0.987, 0.0144, 0.0013> etc and the other vector has a different variation of blue. Is there a way to do this so that one colour fades into another?

When did the allowed land holdings for premium increase?. I have been out of the loop for a couple of months as I have had some RL stuff to deal with.....but we are allowed more now?

I understand the sentiment but I can't help but feel that most of the new last names are nothing more than gimmicks. I get that gimmicks sell, but it would be nice to have some more semi normal last names. The gimmick angle is getting old.
