  1. I like Magika too, I didn't used to like their stuff so much, but a little while back I gave them another look and ended up buying... a "few"... or more... I even took the bangs from one style and put them with the braids from another, and the colors were able to match well enough that people assume it's all the same hairstyle. It took a little doing because one HUD had slightly different shades, but I made it work. Hair and shoes are super important. I think next time I'll gorge myself with shoe shopping. XD
  2. Yeah when people start putting words in my mouth, I follow my own advice and leave them off over there somewhere. I'll go find a silly thread to post in instead.
  3. Yeah, Fascism, Nazism, and soviet Communism were all leftist movements. We shouldn't ignore facts. Heck, Soviet Communism saw itself as the world's leader in positive social change. That said, hate sucks. Murder sucks. Being unkind sucks, and it doesn't matter who is doing it. I can't even hate people I don't like anymore, really. I just wish people weren't so cruel and stupid. Even the nicest people I know will say they hate someone somewhere and wish they were dead. Nobody should ever, ever hate someone so much they wish they were dead. I would hope people would be the kind of good that wants others to be good, to learn and grow in love and respect, rather than adopting attitudes of hatred or violence even against those who act like monsters. If someone just absolutely cannot play nice, put them by themselves somewhere so they can't do anything to anyone else, but for the love of life, don't become the same way. If you can't educate them, avoid them. If you can't reach them, distance yourself. But if you take the negative approach, you're right where the nasty folk want you to be, no better than them, and then they can always find someone somewhere to agree with them that yup, those people over there are the bad ones, and not them. Sorry, I haven't much of a filter, and I spew this stuff sometimes. It's not aimed at or against anyone, its just how I felt and it had to come forth. Prolly just my Au-tizzm.
  4. I see nothing wrong with hanging out with your own alts. I partnered mine. She stays at my place sometimes when it's too late for her to fly home by herself, and we have popcorn and watch old movies all night. I've never had a more faithful companion. I let her wear my clothes and everything. And hanging out with your alts is, in fact, a LOT more fun than hanging out at some club where everyone's lost in IMs to the point that they don't notice when the DJ has gone home.
  5. Spike Jones did~! Gawwwd, I'm old... T-T As for non-color-indicative makeup names, yeah, that's glamour for ya. "I should call it something besides orange, orange is a boring name, perhaps... citrus! no...... too common... ah, I've got it! I'll call it RAMPAGE~!"
  6. Is THAT why I get so much respect IRL compared to in SL? Hmmmmm. *maxes out the shoulder sliders on her kid avi* Now I shall DOMINATE ALL WORLDS~! \o/ Eh, who am I kidding, I slouch IRL too.
  7. Weird Al made these shirts a big part of his image for many years, I say we all do what's right and call out anyone who wears them without the glasses and long, wavy hair for being posers. I honestly think people should be allowed to wear whatever they want. If it flags them as a member of some unwholesome group of individuals, all the better, it's best when you can see them coming a mile off. I just feel bad for anyone who dresses like that because it looks good on them, and doesn't realize it's got connotations of the sort. Back in the 80's, everyone wore stuff like plastic yellow belts with spikes, and looking back, it blows my mind how many people I went to school with who would probably be shiocked if they looked back at themselves today. As children, they wore things to school that people only wear to leather bars now. Or wear to the mall in SL. One thing I havent seen anyone mention is how favored this style of shirt has always been with undercover police, because it's easier to conceal a pistol at your waist with an untucked shirt. Miami Vice, anyone? I do wonder why they would want to dress like Pacific Islanders in the 50's, though. perhaps Hawai'ians have been discovered to be the true master race, after all.
  8. Just another day on the building site... Always wanted to be a construction worker, like my dad. Not gonna wear a hardhat tho, those things can't protect from falling prims, and I'd be sacrificing my style over nothing.
  9. See, it's not even a question of ethics when it's being done for reasons like that. If I had an awesome chicken joint, selling two drummies for a dollar, and someone had a big billboard up for a bar, and it mentioned chicken, but they sold it for 2 bucks a drummy, and they were getting all the chicken business just because people knew they had it for sale, I'd be out putting flyers on cars for my 1 dollar two-fer, and eventually money-conscious people would be sneaking out of the bar to get chicken at my place and smuggle it in. XD Not my doing~! I just put the flyers out! It's just business, and if you wanna make a living, you have to be willing to solve problems like that in whatever way you can, at least legally. Now if you had been sending the bots to make the other business' customers flee from griefing or something, THAT would be unethical. You basically played the SEO game and got a better ranking, so you could at least be seen. I see nothing wrong with people having bots on their own land, if it keeps them from fading into nothingness when they're trying to hustle just like anyone else.
  10. I made my current account so that I could get away and build without having to answer IMs every twenty seconds. Now my main is my alt, and only wakes up now and then when I need something from her inventory, or to test something (like a script) that I can't test on myself. As for why others have alts, well, I have a friend who has about 4 of them, and they are used as RP characters. They're also useful for finding out if you're actually alone on the sim or if the person running around naked and invading private homes just has you blocked. Apparently a favorite use for alts by some people is to give themselves a way to spy on people in groups and sims their main, or another, account has been banned from. These are an especial joy to deal with, especially when ten seconds after getting the boot for harrassment, etc., they come back with the same avatar, same name, and a different number after it, same groups, same profile. It's like playing whack-a-mole with a very cheeky and blatant mole. No offense to moles, of course. I'm presuming actual intelligent people are smarter about ban evasion, and wouldn't give themselves away so easily. Or get banned in the first place. I like Phil's approach above. Sure, have alts, but be honest about it. Using them as utilities to gain an advantage in business might be seen as horridly unethical, but it's understandable, and his being honest about that too, well, hard to think of things as being all that nefarious when the person doing said things owns it and says yup, I did that, had a reason, it got me ahead in business, tryin to live, yo. It's when they're on your friends list, trying to manipulate you in secret, that I find it all disgusting. Invading a group with multiple alts and using them to break up friendships and relationships, and torment people for a laugh, that's worthy of a nail in the forehead, IMO.
  11. I make them. I use Blender with the Avastar plugin though, so I don't know if you'd want them, seeing as it made me take the time to learn how to use it and didn't just read my mind and magically create everything for me. Kidding aside, I work cheap. I've made poses and animations and simply given them away before, really just comes down to how I feel about it. Making one can take 5 to 10 minutes, and uploading it costs 10L$, so I just don't bother buying them anymore, and make my own. I'd sell them on the MP but if I didn't put a high enough price on them, nobody would buy them because unless it costs >=200L$ people assume it's crap. Knowing this I can either feel bad for charging so much for something so easy and cheap for me to make, or I can just let others do all of that and not worry about it. If you see me inworld, feel free to ask, and I can probably help you.
  12. And they glued gears on everything too! Don't forget that part! XD
  13. Peeve: how nobody ever blames human nature for wars, but instead just blame failed peace movements that ended in wars that were more about gold and land and slaves than about any kind of ideology. I hated going to church too, but the pastor never told me to go kill anyone. Another peeve, while I'm at it: people who use conflicts between countries they never cared anything about beforehand as an excuse to wear a good-guy badge while spewing hate and calling for the murder of their fellow human beings without even realizing how hypocritical they are, right in front of everyone, while complaining that their own government isn't doing more to fund one side's evil agenda over the other's. And all of this while denouncing "privilege" and so forth, and drinking Starbucks and throwing the cup out the car window when nobody is looking except some homeless veteran who goes to jail every time someone finds him trying to sleep somewhere.
  14. Peeve: people who don't let the peas get mushy. Can't do a proper pea soup that way, even~! XD If you don't let them get mushy, you have to eat them in the French fashion, minus the fish n chips, and lining them up with a butter knife! It's awful! Plus, I hate having to dress up like Napoleon to eat!
  15. As for bathroom attendants, they went out of popular fashion when bog roll became a cheap enough commodity (no pun, I swear) that it was less expensive to just let people go ahead and steal it than to pay a corruptible staff member to watch over it while pretending to merely enjoy selling cigarettes in the WC.
  16. Not at the buffet, they got rules. You could be sharing your plate with another customer or something. As for dining rooms, ours is where we store all the broken computers and clothes that nobody has felt like washing in over a year. Nobody eats there. EDIT: The bong goes there also, to stop the dogs from knocking it over. I only forgot about that because we hardly ever use the bong either, cos we forget it's on the dining room table with all the broken computers and grody clothes.
  17. Yeah, only in America and other third-world countries are the common people's potties not fully equipped... I blame the recycled trees industry. A nice touch in some Indian restaurants is a kitchen sprayer affixed to the bathroom sink. If you ever wondered what that was for, wonder no longer. Some lesser establishments simply break a corner off the toilet tank lid, for that famous left-handed water dippin' move. In a perfect world, I suppose we'd all have nice warm showers instead, but that really takes time away from the buffet table.
  18. LOL, toilet means bath, you know. Peeve: people going potty in the bath, as if the toilet was something to go potty in. Another Peeve: humanity's need to represent things with words which are not the things themselves, but rather, merely symbolic representations of the ideas of said things instead, which are then open to minsiterpretation because not everyone was born in France. And Another Peeve, While I'm Thinking Of It: Anglophilic "casuals" who don't know what "bog roll" is. Yet Another Peeve, Because Free Association Happened: people who serve fish & chips or even sausages without the mushy peas, and dare to call it authentic English food. Final Peeve Of This Post, I Promise: not even being English OR French, and having to put up with all of this nonsense, in this best of all possible worlds, as if such things should even dare to be allowed to affect me in any way whatsoever- yeah, I'm sleepy, someone stop me before I start rambling, or something.
  19. It was an AWESOME question. Seeing this level of nerding in here almost makes me wistful, but I swore off anything involving scripting except for providing free stuff to newbies who want to blow things up and set them on fire and learn what llSleep() does... I must keep my vow~! I must!
  20. I just tell everyone it's now my dancing platform, and jump up on it and start clomping around. Nobody's ever had the courage to contradict me so far. You can also do it like a dance floor, using a sitter system like AvSitter or similar, and add some dance animations, so people can "sit" on the table and it makes them dance on it. Either method works, YMMV.
  21. You guys made this topic on purpose, to try and get me to start posting in here again, I bet. Not falling for it. Gahhhhh, it's like math porn~! I better get out of this part of the forum, before I end up feeling guilty and deleting everything from my hard drive.
  22. They're probably just picking on you because you react to it, and nobody gives them any attention when they aren't being a butt. If they thought you LIKED being spied on, they'd probably IM you to tell you they WEREN'T spying on you. Knowing someone doesnt like something is like when a fly smells poop, they go straight for the poop. The same way a sign reading Private Property tempts some people to violate your home. I'd just block them. Or, maybe just take solace in knowing what will happen to them on their deathbeds, and that their final act on this earth will so perfectly reflect their time spent among us. Poop, everywhere.
  23. In a pinch, you can use items from the fruit plate in your Library, takes some doing though, from what I hear. Turning sculpted prim bananas inside out isn't something you find in the knowledge base, it's kinda hush-hush. On a less obviously humorous note, if all you're looking for is a way to appear whole when in the shower (which is a LEGITIMATE concern, as avatar dysphoria is a real thing in SL), I would suggest maybe scouring the Marketplace a bit. If you're not looking to completely replace an older, system avatar with a mesh body, there are options, and I would presume they are like many other things in SL: some are cheap, some are free, some are expensive. Of those, some of the cheap ones will be better than some of the expensive ones, and after buying and trying them all you'll find out a free one or one that cost 1L$ is probably the one you prefer over the 5-600L$ ones. Like any other lady parts, such as hair, shoes, and delicates, your mileage is going to vary, because it's all user-created content, and you never know unless you try a few demos first. You'll probably want to include "BOM" in your search query, as this can help in finding a decent-looking system layer/tattoo, or at least mesh bits that use the same texture as your skin does. A lot of mesh attachments still require tinting by hand, and if you ever see a person whose hands, feet, and head don't match their body, you'll see what I mean when I say try to find one that can use your skin texture. It takes a lot of frustrating work out of things.
  24. Seconded, one of the better sims for learning about this stuff. They also have some really nice stuff for making things.
  25. Fine, I'll do it again, at least the lighting brings out the hollow cheeks and pallor... Also, seeing some really lovely avis in this thread, nice to see so many people with style.
