  1. Today, I'm baking cookies!. But with actual LOD's so it doesn't pop too badly on mesh swaps, though LI is ridiculous at 11-19LI depending on physics so no one will ever rez it unless I crush the LOD's to a single triangle however and make it look terrible for 90% of the time. #sad
  2. I spent the last week hopping around mainland plots trying to find anything not being sold by a land flipper while making myself a fishtank. I never found land that wasn't being flipped, now to find a way to blow up the fishtank instead...
  3. this kinda sounds like the case. Make sure in what ever tool you are creating with, you aren't exporting more than your selected object and make sure your object doesn't have a duplicate of it's self overlapping it, if you have a second mesh rezzed (maybe in a linkset) overlapping in near the same space with only 1 face (ALL_SIDES) it will appear as if it's wiping all your other faces, if you have 2 meshes in the 1 object, one may be an extra face entirely set to a single material. To check it, first make sure your mesh in your 3d suite only has the 6 expected materials, and no doubled/overlapping geometry (In blender you can use Remove Doubles in the Specials menu, W key) and it's export to collada options are set to only export your current selection, if you use Firestorm, the Inspect floater will also show exactly how many faces are on the mesh, if you have 7, not 6 it's likely that, you can also check your vert/tri counts in the uploader before uploading to make sure they match your 3d software (Though lately I find these can vary, maybe SL's importer is using an edge split feature?). Are your LOD meshes also giving errors about not being a subset of the original due to mismatched faces? Material names for me have never been an issue, I use cycles entirely and the LL uploader can't properly access the materials and textures saved with cycles node setups, they are just used as the region seams for your face extents via the UV mapping.
  4. In waking this up, rather than starting a new one, has anything in this changed?. The newest Firestorm has a different font for the LSL editor and I'm struggling with it, yet editing the fonts.xml doesn't do anything. IE: Changing font sizes to 18 doesn't change the font size, Changing the font entirely, stays with the new "SourceCodePro" font, are these now fixed into the UI options only, and if so... can we change the LSL editors font back?.
  5. This shouldn't even be a consideration. Legacy names are unique for good reason, if there's 2 Ipecac Burnhams, and one has a problem with a purchase from another Residents store, how could support be given to the right Avatar without the vendor dancing through a load of "Name2Key" hoops?. Should we scrap names all together and just use agent UUID keys?. Should we be displaying our Emails and contact addresses in-world publicly for clarity?. It would also open up the door to many avenues of griefing and add to the support load of dealing with them... Make an alt with someone else's name, do bad stuff, AR the other person, with pictures of and chat logs of you. Many novice scripters use legacy names as an identifier being unique and shorter than most UUID's, would confuse a lot of databasing on greeters, visitor trackers, all sorts of toys and gadgets people made on a whim. Would also be avenues for fraud as you mention, Avatar Z knows Avatar X is a friend of Avatar Y... so make an alt with X's name to try and discredit the other, or... blackmail the other, or, etc... thus more support. I for one, do not want to be handing out my email address to people just so they know I'm not the three day old alt trashing their land.
  6. After reading this, I finally hit the upgrade now! button. Thank you, Linden Lab.
  7. I leave mine at Region Default, unless I really have to change it for a specific venues build. Most builders have lighting in mind when they make their scenes, so going into them with a custom windlight can be very unkind to a planned environment. Entirely baked scenes do not lend themselves to a moving light source, and look far, far too unrealistic (No matter how well baked!) giving the whole world an "Uncanny valley" feel for me, if shadows are falling in one direction and the baked reflection (of items NOT in the scene) and specular highlights on all the objects in the scene say the light is in a different spot? my mind picks up on it. Though, more and more I'm finding sims are locking the sun position, maybe to avoid having to wait for the cycles to change and test lighting setups in the build, maybe for preference, maybe to cut down on scripts polling the suns placement to turn lighting on and off or maybe to use a baked environment, most everything in SL has to come with a touch of compromise!. It's a great question!.
  8. Since this topic and the other active thread on the realms have caught attention, I haven't seen, or been crashed by a "Dragonball" avatar in days, which while a short period in itself, is the longest period I've been crash free while scripting in the Park for quite a long time. I hope all the grid hoppers running around inside are also back to worrying about more important things... like shoes!, and not the one or two guys ruining it for them all. Thank you, Linden Lab.
  9. Enjoying the peace and quiet in one of the nicer places to be while we still can.
  10. I'd guess a pretty strong no. This is a Resident to Resident case, being we, Residents, are purchasing from TMP, Residents. I never got TMP because you're not buying a mesh, no one bought a mesh, they bought 'credits' to trade for the use of a mesh, with virtual tokens of no value to anyone but us, Residents.
  11. Trying to figure out why physics meshes never line up
  12. For an update, some people are getting in, okay! Others aren't and just sit at the portal, until they walk off.
  13. Since the update to the Linden Realms, the Portal to Hartyshire in Portal Park no longer works. I've had a few friends try who can not get in either, One, someone I met while Glytching, another someone who had never been in before, nor heard of them. The Portal gives the "Sorry, you do not have access to that teleport destination" message, however as I already have the HUD, hitting the Hartyshire button on it takes me there, no problem. Is this the same for others, too? This means a lot, if not all new players to the game cannot get inside to collect the HUD... to get inside
  14. After all the work adding materials in the first place, I like to imagine they aren't leaving any time soon. I have to imagine, not being one who has looked far into it, that the bake will be for the diffuse layers (the RBG visual information we see as colour), given enough cerativity perhaps the Specular and Normal components of the object can be merged, If the baking engine knows the mesh is a shirt from all the raycasting plotting the surface, if can cut that out of the texture file (leaving the dead UV space behind) and simply overlay it onto the body's normal map or spec maps. If we have a shirt on, then we only need the normal and specularity info for the shirt, in all parts the shirt covers (we'll never see the skin under it), the rest of the image/UV space can be used for the uncovered body. simply layering it onto perhaps the SLUV map as a "Super omega". I have pretty good faith we won't lose all the work on the lighting and materials engines to accommodate texture bakes.
  15. As you're not getting it, a Linden dollar, has no value, untill it is either sold, or used to buy a product, to someone who WILL sell it. Technically, it's not even a currency, it's a virtual token that we, the users have a stake in, thus we the users, find value in. " Linden Dollars have no monetary value and are not redeemable for monetary value from Linden Lab " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Second_Life
  16. You're confusing Fact for potential. It is POTENTIALLY 1 dollar a month, IF I am taking L's in the form of USD out of the grid. What if I am not comfortable with draining the grid I am so fond of? What if I want my L's to be spent inworld, to support the guys and girls making me look Awesome?
  17. No, it isn't. It's 15.600 Linden dollars with a USD value. That you paid to receive when you signed up, that you are entitled to because you spent money on it as a product, this isn't anything new, companies have been doing it since companies have been companies... it also wasn't brought into question. I'm a customer of 3 other MMO's, I don't get paid by them for purchasing a service, and I don't believe for a darn second LL are giving anyone "Free money" unless we're to count the horde of alt trains in Paleoquest. This however wasn't brought into question, I want to pay 100 bucks of my money, for access to land, sadly after today discussion I'm perhaps better off investing that into the land barons and potentially hurting all of us in the process, rather than supporting the company who has let me be here for a decade.
  18. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Quixote You're. Sense. Please, if you can't construct a sentence in your desire to start a fight, stop replying.
  19. No, you paid for it. You can chose to cash it out if you wish, but you are still paying for it. You're not plucking it from money tree's.
  20. If you believe that, then do by all means stop replying. The L's you're being given for having premium are entirely factored into your purchase, they are not free, they are not a refund, they are part of the service you are paying for. I've also not stated at any point that $L's are an incentive for me.
  21. Oh hardly, I'm expressing concern based on what I see from you, Residents. You might be okay with throwing away money, some of us aren't.
  22. While in part true, I'm not paying 100 dollars a year for a nomod box I can't retexture, that may not even be furnishable due to shape and size (some are round... no ty). Meaning I'd also be stuck playing "House lotto" 5 times a day until I get a plot that is useable. Yet if said plot is in a theme that is entirely unappealing to me? I'm actively doing myself a disservice by settling for something that makes me kinda unhappy about what I got. As for what sims are locked down? Try get into Kustom9 on open day. Try get into Colabor88. There's more events out there than I can list, and me getting in to those faster than ANYONE else, would me me feel kinda bad about making someone else, who used to be in my shoes even more frustrated than I when they can't get in for days, maybe weeks..
  23. If I pony up even more for the land, or if I am lucky enough to have a theme I'd like active in the Linden home choices. The groups aren't a benefit to me. The sandboxes aren't a benefit to me. getting into locked down sims faster than some poor guy or girl on a basic, isn't appealing to me. So no, The feature I'd want from premium is not readily available to me, and I can not use it instantly unless I pay even more.
