I would not redo my set up at this time as I don't have a cooling system for my laptop any longer and I'm not a fan of EEP plus I need my computer for other projects not related to SL. I think EEP is a mega hassle compared to just clicking on a menu of environment windlights like before and moving a slider which gave amazing lightings in less than minutes. I've said my opinion on EEP. It won't change because it's also a hassle as I said I cannot even find the EEP lightings I purchased because they have odd names and are no modify so I could not re-name them. So, I took the time to go through my account and write all my EEP names down on a notecard and now I forgot what I named the notecard. I'm not convinced EEP was a good move, I actually think it was a bad move even with a good computer as it's a hassle and took me over an hour to get one lighting I liked for a photo where it used to take minutes - one hour for a lighting. That's way too much of my time. Plus, with the slider the lighting was magical. It's not magical like that anymore no matter how much I click around on the EEP thingies. I have a right to state my opinion about it. It's a backwards step, imo. A dud.

I would never work on a laptop for SL. I have a laptop and I use it for listening to music with headphones. I need a large computer flat screen and I like my build as it has an appropriate cooling system and tons of storage space for photos, just tons, and I need a full keyboard as a I have carpel tunnel syndrome. Sure I can set up a peripheral keyboard for a laptop but that pushes the laptop's screen further away from me as the keyboard needs to fit on the desk and then I can't see too well. I need ergonomically designed desktop comfort for issues I have and I like a good cooling system - that much I know.

Properly made is difficult. What has been discussed is a polygon limit builders can import or something geeky like certain limits for the mesh when importing that I don't particularly understand.

It may be partly the person's fault who built my computer from the recommended specs on the SL page because if he's a computer builder he should have known better and should have discussed what might be better for me his customer, but then I think, he didn't know anything about the new mesh avatars obviously four years ago and neither did I. When I rejoined nearing four years ago now, I didn't even know there were mesh avatars here. I was thinking they would be all the classic avatars. So, in that respect, I don't see it as his fault. There are two sets of specs on the page - one is the minimum, the other is the recommended, at least that's how it was four years ago. The computer guy built to the recommended, not the minimum. But, now is not a good time for me to consider a new graphics card. Maybe soon but not now.

Mine worked pre-EEP and I have tons of photos in the photo threads on the forum here and I could up the pixels way up in my SL camera and set the graphics up to ULTRA for photographs, so I was happy with it. It's EEP and integrated that are not compatible; it's murky like submerged under water with materials, bump and shiny put together and the alpha channel runs horribly with the EEP set-up for integrated. However, to have new specs, it would seem LL should have a new mesh avatar and then set specs to run that mesh avatar. However, if the mesh avatar is nice, it would eat away at their profits of selling all these mesh avatars. It seems to me LL has been stuck between a rock and hard place about it. But, one can rest assured, if LL ever does come out with a good starter mesh avatar when one joins, a 5 to 10 million polygon body will come out that everyone will want and then it all will start over again even for people with the best computer one could buy and people will say that viewer is outdated because they have the best computer but it's laggy for their 5 million polygon body and 5 million polygon head. But, I did mention in one of my posts, who is SL's audience new audience...the FB crowd or what? Because I could recommend SL but most everyone I know has a minimal laptop even if they have a house on the beach. They don't play video games so they have the minimum kinds of graphics cards to run YouTube or FB videos.

I've spoke about my build in that it was a gift and I didn't want the person to spend a lot of money so I said SL is not a video game, it doesn't need a super graphics card. So, my friend goes to a computer store to have it built and the person looks up the recommended specs for SL and builds it for that. I'm a computer dummie so I don't know much. But, SL specs are for SL stuff - the classic avatars and the stuff one can make inworld with prims. Upping the specs means LL needs to know what type of mesh or non mesh one is buying and how can they know that when people have avatars that are in the millions with body, head, hair and clothing? What if a body comes out tomorrow that is 5 million polygons alone...how can one figure out specs then? Since LL doesn't know what people are going to buy or build, they've obviously left the specs for the classic avatar and the stuff one can build inworld, which is sensible if you think about. If a body comes out at 5 million polygons tomorrow, people will expect it to run on SL's old viewer and say I have the most amazing computer so it will work or it should work on my amazing computer. That's not the way the viewer works.

The windlights don't look the same in the newer EEP viewers plus one can click on that moon thing in the EEP for the windlights until the cows come home and one will never have the magic of the slider. In the EEP viewer, the magic is gone plus it's a mega hassle. With the magic gone, it's gone and EEP cannot compare in any way.

Even though mine might be a potato to you it ran fine pre-EEP. Plus, I see posts all the time of people with jelly dolls and using 'show friends only' and they have the best of machines. So, pre-EEP and then with the cloud my machine ran great. Then EEP and SL is pretty much dead for me now. It's got too many problems for my machine with EEP. Textures, as Sid mentioned which I never had before pre-EEP as I've been on the forums quite awhile and I have zero posts of problems pre-EEP other than crowded events but after the cloud crowded events were no longer a problem...but again, along came EEP and ruined all that for me. I'm tired so I hope I make sense. Those you import to your inventory and then I'd have to look up almost 800 windlight names from my inventory. I would NEVER want to look up almost 800 windlight names from my inventory. That is a hassle no one needs nor would have time for. The windlights USED TO be in the viewer where you clicked on them in the viewer NOT in one's inventory. I am also using the only current older FS viewer but it is similar to EEP in that it has the bump and shiny together like the new EEP viewers which makes things murky for me if the bump and the shiny are together. (I use the viewer linked below - not much better but it has the windlights in the viewer itself plus the slider which is the magic of it all. Without that slider to change the windlights, SL lighting and SL have lost their magic to me.) So once this viewer below goes, I will too. June actually may be my last month. I can't run the EEP viewers well plus EEP is not convenient with names such as 'George's light party' or something that is a no-name name and most of the EEP's I bought are no modify so can't change the name. I did finally write the EEP names down on a notecard but I cannot remember what I named the notecard so I cannot even use the EEP environments I bought without a bunch of hassle 'cause I can't find the notecard. The EEP is dropping FPS and reeking mayhem on my textures too. So, I contact LL about it and they told me to get a new graphics card. So, I have been taking a break from SL myself. I cannot deal with the texture problems either. Plus, with windlight ,the windlights were all just a click and a slider away to adjust into something amazing. As far as me wanting to go to bat for SL and EEP, my heart is not in that aspect of it because of EEP. People taking breaks and/or giving up is pretty bad.

Oh, I see. I know nothing about "Decentraland" itself but my guess is it's way too expensive to compete with SL, probably thousands and thousands of dollars for a piece of land.

Okay, maybe you have nothing to say...but I think what Second Life and the Linden offer are more stability and it's far less risky using one's own country's currency to buy lindens and far less expensive to buy digital art here. The other plus that SL has is an amazing camera for people who'd want to sell NFT's (people need to read TOS here though) or just make digital art for themselves to enjoy. However, you are bringing Decentraland into the discussion here so I was wondering what you think about it. I have not even looked at this new decentralized land so I have no idea what they offer...but I'm guessing, it's very, very expensive. Most NFT makers are charging way too much money for a piece of digital art - thousands of dollars for one piece. That's way too much money. "Cryptoland" itself needs to become more stable as it's kind of crazy right now, imo.

No, that's not true. I have a desktop built from SL recommended specs and worked fine up until EEP. Now I have been in support with LL about my computer not running well now because of the EEP viewer and was told in an email from LL to get a new graphic's card. I am not getting a new graphic's card for SL. Graphic's cards are too expensive right now and I don't want a junky cheap one or possibly an old burnt out one. I have suggested to LL through our emailing correspondence that they have two viewers - one EEP and one non EEP and received no reply.

Regarding the viewer, I have some things I wanted to say in general this is not directly to Coffee Pancake. The EEP viewer is a drain hog and causes a drop in people's FPS and young people especially want good FPS and if the younger crowd doesn't get good FPS from SL they believe it's not worth it to be here. The thing is too, just taking the people I know in real life who are the FB type crowd, they don't have an amazing computer. They will have one way worse than mine and their laptops are mostly built for graphics like FB or YouTube and are probably integrated like mine or worse as my desktop was built for SL specs. I don't know many people in my demographic with gaming type rigs if any at all. Plus, many people come to SL, believe it or not, to relax not work. SL needs to build up it's relaxing elements and create more ease of use not more hassle as they did with EEP, and again EEP is a drain hog as well as a hassle when it's hassle enough to go forward and invest in making a mesh avatar. So, if there is a new viewer ever...what kind of people are they looking for? People with gaming rigs or people with FB type laptops? LL needs to figure this out themselves. LL needs to figure out who their audience is and what type of computer.

Most of the people in my demographic are married and lead very busy career lives with weekends for family and friends or just lounging around the house. Plus, most of the people I know are not into computers other than FB to keep in touch with family and friends, and most people I know when they see the things I make for SL say "I could never do that". And, you know what, they are right, and they are right because they don't have the desire...it's not "their thing". Most of the people I know read or garden for their hobbies. Second Life is for people who want to be here and even though we land here not really knowing what the heck to do, we have a desire to figure it out. I've invited people over the years and it was a waste of both our time. I also don't want to be teacher to someone in RL for SL. I simply don't have the time. But, I have dropped invites over the years to rl people. I'm not on social media hardly at all and my only friends on FB are my family and a few friends. But, it's not a bad idea to post pics of what you do on SL to your family and friends IF you or anyone is on social media.

Makes me sad to hear this. When I first landed in Second Life, I said "now what" too but I then said "well, I have to find out". And, then I made a plan on how to find out. I think I just jumped into the inworld search and start looking for things I was interested in real life, as well as attempting to find shops that had styles I liked. We didn't even have X-Street yet when I started way back when, shopping was all inworld. But, for me and my machine, the EEP viewer has serious issues and plus I hate EEP. I'd like it if one could click on the EEP environments and move a slider to change them like in the viewers with the windlights prior to EEP. I also don't believe too many new users would be interested in EEP. New users wanna find a date mostly not click around a sun and moon thing hassle.

Yeah this, especially about the lag. If I pay $3.00 and am lagged out, it's a waste of money as I'd just have to shut down the viewer and not get to hear the performance. So, I'd skip it altogether. With tinies, we are so low lag we have amazing events with 100+ tinies but with human avatars it's very, very risky if one doesn't know how many are there and just hitting 'show friends only' is for shopping not a paid event. lol

There are tons of cryptocurrencies to speculate on, so you shouldn't have a need to complain. LL is not the place to make money on speculating - use cyprtos and for real life the Forex. Wild fluctuations in the value of the linden would cause chaos here.

Yeah, that's true. Too bad she couldn't still enjoy the club. I've been going to the same club off and on for many, many years so the "crazy girlfriend" didn't scare me away even when she didn't believe me that I make avatars. LOL Also, the girl is lucky people who make avatars do look at avatars or else she might not have an avatar boyfriend at all. LOL Making avatars can really make you somewhat a non-immersionist; I know it did me. But, I also respect immersionists who see their avatar as an extension of themselves while I might see a piece of computer art instead.

If it's upsetting you and your partner, you and your partner come first. You need to make the decision what to do for the sake of you and your partner. It sounds like it's making them jealous. Most things in SL require permission first and I think that's fair. But, I just wanted to say something real quick because it's a really outrageously silly experience I had in SL. When I came to SL this third time I came solely to build. Every once in awhile I'd go to a club though. One time at a club this female jumps into my IM screaming at me because I'm looking at her boyfriend. LOL I will never forget this because if she read my profile it's all about building. The funny thing is I make avatars too and at that time was making an ancient Albino race with females first but then I wanted to add males, so I was looking at her bf because I was starting to make a male avatar shape for this ancient Albino race. Talk about an over-reaction from this person of whom her bf, other than a part of his look I might have been interested in at the time, I could have cared less. And with telling the story, I don't even remember what I was looking at him about. But, she blew her stack because a builder of avatars was looking at her bf.

California was the second to go into lockdown after France. California went into lockdown a day or two after France. The states were in charge and many states did not want to go into lockdown stating the reason that they "are not New York" for their reason to NOT go into lockdown, meaning they are more like rural states. States are still in charge today aside from the stimulus bills/acts; however, California is taking over it's own stimulus for it's citizens because it was the congress that bungled the coronavirus relief not the presidents, and California will now be giving out it's own stimulus checks because congress got it way wrong for California (understatement), way wrong, but we will have our own stimulus now. The WHO has in it's own protocol to close travel as a last resort. The WHO got it wrong about the airborne nature of this deadly disease. The WHO has said this coronavirus is from an animal. There is no animal currently and articles are now appearing that there was no intermediate host for this coronavirus (no animal) and this is a human coronavirus only, a super coronavirus and thus could not have been from nature. I agree with Trump in that at least he stood up to the WHO and refused payments. I think the WHO is largely, largely to blame. I still would not agree with paying them.

I don't have time really to read a whole bunch of stuff as I have a lot of projects right now but on the issue of climate change when Gore was elected and then not elected due to a "recount" I was pissed, way pissed. I still to this day think Gore was the real winner then. In talking with friends at that time, it was mentioned that the government decided to not elect Gore after all because of his climate change beliefs because climate change is anti-capitalism. If that is indeed true, climate change, at least years ago, was not about "science" to the Republicans and/or our government but rather capitalism. Here's a bit about Gore. Meanwhile though I don't want our Congress on the Republican-side hurting the American people any further, however.

I'm also sorry about the loss of your Dad. My Dad passed away due to the same. My Mom perused a wrongful death suit as in the PDR it clearly states that the medicine my father was prescribed should not be prescribed to patients with liver problems. After five years, my Mom lost the wrongful death lawsuit. As far as far-right conservatives at @Luna Bliss, I'm not so sure they are completely trying to undermine science et al as you mentioned in another post but are more so saying science is fallible and governments have issues. Gosh, reverse those words and you'll get a Democratic party from the "hippie generation" who were far-left or were they? At the time they were but later it has been deemed they were right and the world has matured past some discriminations but still has a far piece to go. This sentence is not to say the alt-right will be right but the hippie generation believed in conspiracy theories and dead puppet people running the government too. Just hear these words "tin soldiers and Nixon's coming, we're finally on our own" from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. As far as conspiracy theories they are nothing new but if you read the article I posted from factcheck.org, it says all theories are on the table going forward as many scientists and countries look into the origins of COVID-SARS2 now. As far as Trump and evangelicals, Trump painted himself as some kind of super hero to tear down the corruption in government and the media and many in the right are mimicking him now and I think some view themselves as being the new SJW's. I don't think Trump will be re-elected as one of his last tweets was "I'm not well". He's too old by then to be re-elected and not entirely well.

I didn't even know that about Trump and canceling flights to China so that is not what I said I agreed with because I didn't even know about it. I agreed with, early on, that the Postal Service should go private, but that's a long story. Later on is what I agreed with in regards to the 2nd stimulus when Trump agreed to the stimulus money but McConell and the rest of the senate republicans would not. I said both presidents agreed with the direct stimulus money, it was congress that caused the problems with their party-politicking during an election year. I agree now that non-essential travel should be postponed until we least get more people vaccinated but that originates with me and it's only recently I see the WHO says cancel travel as a "last resort".
