  1. And there lies the real problem. I don't understand what Alwin is saying by "if he pays for his streaming and music all is covered...etc"...what does that mean? It's broken English and I cannot understand what he is saying. It sounds like you and he and saying if an internet radio station plays in the Netherlands that is licensed, all the DJ's have to be licensed too, which is ridiculous and I've never heard of that. Also, many club venues have a licensed streamed. How do you know they don't and why can't someone in the Netherlands listen to a licensed stream? You and Alwin are trying to put the internet music laws on what is supposed to be the big internet radio laws for Apple, Spotify, IHeart Radio, etc. onto people who don't have enough listeners to qualify as a business. Now, the 24/7 Clubs in SL do have enough listeners and I believe many of those are licensed.
  2. As far as "dream up" something, I'd like to suggest something and then just leave it to the powers that be. How about clicking on a box at Newbie Island or any of the "newbie friendly places" that has a scripted hover text showing and the script says something like, 'click and copy to inventory, then open RECENT tab of your inventory and Read Notecard'. Notecard says 'right click and open on the notecard' itself. Such as the notecard could read "Inventory How To Info - Right Click and Open Notecard". And, then the notecard has some beginner basic 'how to's' written on it about the differing ways to open boxes, go to sandbox and/or find more sandboxes in guide, find a dressing room, add/detach, go to some newbie friendly places....some simple starters. In the box could be a prim hat or some other simple prim stuff wherein at least one begins to learn how to "work" their inventory, use guide, teleport.
  3. ROFL! Well, despite that, well, laughs again, well, I eventually get around to it. Still too funny but honestly quite true. Yeah, something that wouldn't be farmed. A way to learn the different ways to open boxes, drag a folder from received to inventory or set as a tab (new idea above), plus teleport, learn where GUIDE is and find more sandboxes, plus learn where a change room is plus how to add/detach. Some of the basics, yes...somehow...dream up 'something'.
  4. I like what he said. I have always said SL should come with a starter pamphlet. Another good idea perhaps give 200 lindens and a store upon start. Then the newbie can pick out what they want from some low priced goods and at least learn the different ways to open boxes and to go to a sandbox with a landmark to sandbox as well as notecard explaining there are other sandboxes available in the GUIDE and then newbies at least will know how to open the guide, how to open the rezable kind of box, teleport, and learn the difference between wear and add plus a few other newbie kind of things. It isn't too much to ask to include some basics for SL starters.
  5. OMG, no thanks. Oh, I see. A band that has 12 albums that started in 1972 has me stumped but does this include LIVE albums plus re-mastered? The only artist I can think of who has had 12 albums since 1972 is Bob Dylan, but that would include his Bootleg series that he released. But, you say 'starting in '72'...I have no idea. I see, it's stale though but I do think some of the main clubs expect the same old tired stuff and I'm not sure where they get this mind set idea from? A Battle of the DJ's once a year contest might prove most club owners wrong. No, I have not but it sounds interesting. I listen to some of the greatest musicians and obscure from Vanilla Fudge to The Velvet Underground. So, I listen to a lot of what is "underground" I guess but excellent. You sound like my cup of tea.
  6. Well, my tastes are not TOP 40. I love Classical to progressive to Bob Dylan. I need a great arrangement, amazing guitar work or other instruments, incredible lyrics, etc, so I'm not the run-of-the-mill radio person as my father was an entertainer in real life so I grew up around incredible musicians. Newbie artists...hmmmmmm...I'd have to hear it because I cannot stand modern pop of today as it sounds like they threw the cheapest backing track on there they could find and didn't even care about the music and they probably don't care because someone will listen for free. The 21th Century music I've loved the most have been Jack White's various endeavors, plus The Black Keys and Jet has some just great garage rock stuff. However, I'd like to hear things I've not heard. What could be fun is for SL to have a Battle of the DJ'ss contest once a year and we could all vote on the best top 3 DJ's for that year. It could be fun and interesting to see what the DJ's would come up with.
  7. That's one way too look at it BUT what lindens I make from building all go back into buying more building stuffs and I've never cashed out of SL, so SL is a hobby to me and it's hobby lindens that help support my hobby. It is never money I can use for RL, well, cuz I have over 300 pages of FAVORITIES, so I'm always buying SL stuff. I will never make more than "hobby money", money that buys me supplies. I went to a party by a friend recently and she put together an all about space set and it was fun plus I heard songs I've never heard. I've heard so many of the hits that I'm pretty cold about them. I have had three little clubs with games, spas to relax in and some events and all my club/hangouts cost me less than $12 dollars a month. If I ever get up to having some events again I'd like to have some tribute hours to those who have passed away in the last few years, stuff like that. Something different. SL music got very old for me, very fast and I never want to hear "Pour Some Sugar on Me" ever again and never wanted to hear that song even once as it's not my cup of tea. Some of the music is rather stale in SL. I'd like to hear some of what you consider a good set worth paying for. Just out of curiosity.
  8. I've had three clubs for tinies where the price of the first one was about $5 dollars a month. The price of my second club for tinies was about $11 dollars a month. I have a small club for tinies now which is about $8 dollars a month. One doesn't need a whole sim or half a sim to have a club. My second club my landlord put me out in space on mainland and no one was ever there, so we could fit 40 avatars twice a week for the "dress up" parties we had. It was fun and well worth the price. I haven't gotten into the swing of my latest club because I was side-tracked by a malfunctioning EEP viewer which I also cannot stand the EEP viewer because it's a hassle too and FPS drag and we just had gotten into the cloud which was awesome and then the EEP drag, SO I'm not sure I want to go forward with my SL because of that viewer. But, the clubs I had were not expensive at all.
  9. I'll have to look into your two posts this weekend, Rowan. I don't have the EEP viewer in right now but thanks for the info.
  10. We have what for EEP things? I have purchased quite a few "EEP things" and they are no modify so I cannot rename them from their nonsense names such as "Jane's Quiet Time" or whatever crazy name they have so I cannot find any of them. What 'settings' are you talking about? Plus, if they ever decide to have a permanent non-EEP viewer where one can easily click a menu of windlights or environments and have a slider, I might consider that worth paying for. Otherwise, EEP is a hassle and huge drain of time trying to get a good lighting if I can even find the darn things. The old way with a menu of lightings built into the viewer and a slider took seconds, now it's hours to get a good light I like, so I gave up on EEP as it's too much trouble and hassle....so what EEP things are you talking about here?
  11. Those avatars are "cute" but not my style but I like the idea of it as a kind of caricature of one's self. I was looking at avi's on the web this morning and came across Render Hub. The bodies and the skins look much more human than SL but I thought the heads weren't quite as nice. The bodies on Render Hub have far better arms, knees, and detailed skins for females. I do not want to post the link though because there are some nude avi's on there. On Render Hub it says these avi's only rez in Maya or other such programs. I'm not even sure what these kinds of avi's are for but if SL ever makes a more realistic human with joints, bones, and detailed skins for females, I'll be there! It's about $60.00 for an avi on Render Hub, body and head included. The textures are HUGE though; SL needs to learn how to make better use of the cloud.
  12. I'm assuming with this question, the OP was saying the person has lindens but is withholding for some reason. However, imo, listening is not enough to warrant a tip. If I am enjoying myself and it's what I call a "good party" or a "good show" I will tip. A lot of mainstream music is not my thing, I've heard the hits enough that I prefer to listen to what are known as "deep tracks" which are great songs on an album but not necessarily the hit from the record. I think a better question would be is it okay to go to a club if you don't have lindens, to which I think the majority of SLer's will say, of course. If you don't have lindens, you don't have lindens. If you didn't like the music, you didn't like the music. I'd say the answer to tipping is in each person's heart really and only they know their budget too which may not allow too many lindens, so just follow your heart about it and try to enjoy the music or the show without putting too much pressure on yourself.
  13. Thank you for sharing this, Prokofy. I feel as though I knew him a bit through your words. My heart goes out to all for the loss of your loved one and friend. His essence lives on here in SL in some ways, I'm sure.
  14. Regarding Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft or lesser kinds of slimed down graphics avatars are popular for reasons that SL does not have. Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft or the other similar type of "big" games have real life toys they sell plus they run on phones and that's why the avatars are so extremely simple and primitive. Thus, they are NOT like SL at all which has amazing avatars, doesn't sell real life toys and wouldn't run on a phone. I think SL may be reborn again but it may take a new viewer, an avatar with even more realism like real joints and bones for some examples. What was hot was cryptocurrencies and NFT's seem like a good idea with their smart contracts BUT having SL accept cryptocurrencies (as some want) would make SL too unstable, imo. SL seems like a great venue for online gambling which is partly legal in some states in America now and for people to make NFT's if that market heats up again and/or stabilizes as cryptocurrencies are a bit unstable right now, imo, but SL offering the ability to make digital art and even NFT's into the future is definitely one of SL's pluses. I think the metaverse will just remain varied due to people wanting simple "games" that will run on a phone. So, the metaverse is varied.
  15. If I go to an event or a club, I go to listen so it would be wrong on my part to not tip. If I stay, I'm listening. If I left after three songs, it's not my cup of music or it's songs I've heard too many times. I don't run my own music at an event or a club, so I tip, and I request and I tip again. 200-250 I consider the minimum for the DJ, the host and the venue get a tip from me also. I keep a tipping budget and do not spend those lindens on stuff for my avatar. It's never wrong to have a budget in rl or sl, imo.
  16. I know that Velk 'but' your posts seem to be putting it all on Trump and the whole United States is not the military nor the armed forces. My own governor put California into lockdown within about a day after France who was the first. All I am really saying is you need to look at some of these governors as well. "In a variety of ways" could that be any more vague? However, I believe the above is what Trump used to takeover and control 3M or some such company for masks or whatever it was. I am not going to go searching for past articles from early 2020 and about Trump and 3M or whatever mask company it was. It's all water under the bridge now. The WHO, in their protocol, which I posted enough already in this thread, has in their protocol to restrict travel as a last resort.
  17. That's great and I didn't know there was on/off for sits either all these years. I do need my customers to use a Level 3 priority AO because the animations I'm talking about aren't sits but rather are drinking and eating. The Dinkie animations I have in my tea, milkshakes, etc will only work with an AO if it's a level 3 priority. Some things you may need to turn AO off 'but' I think that's mostly for "girlie stuff"; i.e. a parasol or a purse for some examples.
  18. I never knew one could turn sits OFF either if that is what Marianne is saying but then I never encountered this problem in my all of SL which spans off and on for over 15 years. The animations have priorities as Pixie was speaking about in her post above, so your AO has higher priorities than most sits in SL which are probably older sits. I make stuff for Dinkies with older animations and my Dinkie customers must use a level 3 priority AO or turn AO off to use the products. It's all in the priorities and it cannot be helped. You could get a lower level AO which is what I do for my Dinkies so I can use all the animations for stuffs I make without turning AO on/off. A level 3 priority AO is an older AO but for a Dinkie, it's best because Dinkies use a lot of the older, non-bento animations as Dinkies are NOT bento except tail. Your AO must have a very high priority.
  19. You keep writing posts Velk that Trump was to blame. There is nothing in our U.S. Constitution that allows a president to take control during a pandemic. California was the 2nd in the world to lockdown just a day or two after France, who was the 1st in the world. The states were in control, the governors, not Trump. And, I never read about Trump calling it a hoax because it doesn't matter anyway and it's ridiculous stuff I would not read anyways like yellow journalism or the rag mags which I will never read. Trump was NOT in control of California. We did not care about his opinions as they held little baring on anything. As to the OP and Arielle's question of why it took so long to get the fact it was airborne, the WHO may have played down or in fact SAID that the virus was NOT airborne because, at the time, masks were in short order. I blame our state for not having stockpiles for possible pandemics, especially since the Swine Flu was not that long ago and the Swine Flu made me very ill that I was ill for years, a long hauler of swine flu.
  20. I couldn't agree more. There really is no excuse for LL not seeing how useful FS was and importing THOSE FS features into the official SL viewer. I always wonder what are the Linden's thinking by not adopting the liked FS features into the LL viewer. I went on the official SL viewer as I believe the new EEP FS gave me a horrible bug and I have to do a clean install which sounds like a mega hassle and a half and I'm dreading it. The LL viewer updates used to be automatic and hassle-free. It's just weird to new residents that the company they are trusting their money with when they go payment info on file, there is another viewer for the game and their money.
  21. Oh good grief. LOL That gave me a headache. So, something may be corrupted. That's a lot of steps to do. Let me talk to FS support inworld tomorrow and see if I can try clear cache first. I'm not sure I want to go through a whole bunch more hassle than I have been for months now with this EEP stuff though. I'm pretty well burned out from it all and for what I consider a dud in EEP as it's too much hassle and far too many hours to bother with such a dinosaur as EEP, if I have to go to EEP eventually anyways which I don't want to do ever. Maybe I will check out OPensim as they offer an old Animesh viewer to use.
  22. The one bolded above has NO EEP whatsoever. If you do a clean install, you should be back to where you were before trying the EEP viewer. It is the last one you liked and should put everything back as it was before. 6.3.9 is the one I'm talking about. It is like a hybrid and has stuff from the EEP viewer, the texture buffer goes up to 512 only and I have 64-bit windows; if I turn materials on it's murky like under water. The bump and shiny check box together is there. So, I'm not sure what's going on here but it isn't like the viewer I had pre-EEP. Plus, I dumped EEP and was on a viewer until April I think it was when that BOM viewer was blocked. So, I will have to talk to FS group inworld tomorrow to see what's up with this because I'd call 6.3.9 a hybrid and not a complete non-EEP viewer. A clean install, I'm not sure how to do but I don't understand how the EEP viewer could be or have screwed up this viewer which ran fine before...?
  23. The only currently available older FS non-EEP viewer is an oddity to me. It has the windlights and the slider but the materials are broken all the same for integrated GPU like mine and it has it's maximum texture buffer at 512 even for the 64-bits like me (all the EEP viewers buffer at 512 now on EEP for integrated GPU's like mine apparently) plus other things that the EEP viewers have which also do not work for integrated GPU's like mine, so best I could describe it is it's like a hybrid NOT really a non-EEP viewer entirely. It's sort of passable in that at least I can work my windlights via a very easy to use menu and simply move a slider to make incredible lightings in minutes. I will never like EEP, it's a mega hassle, even if I got a new GPU. EEP takes hours for a good lighting with trying to find the EEP's and then move stuff for each one to hopefully find a good lighting; windlights and a slider I can make beautiful lightings in literally seconds, so I never want to go on any EEP viewer. It's a dud to me and nothing would change my mind even if I got a new GPU. But, to answer your question, it is not entirely a non-EEP viewer, the only available older FS viewer for SL.
  24. If O*****m has an EEP-free, and I mean a viewer with no EEP whatsoever, I will go. I have integrated graphics and my GPU and EEP are not compatible. But, I'd need an O*****m viewer with windlights in a menu and a slider so I could continue with my photography. Could someone let me know in an IM if O*****m has windlights in the viewer menu with a slider to adjust like the old SL and FS viewers did.
  25. I've rented on and off in SL for about 15 years. I have not been here the whole 15 years. I have never been a premium member. I find my places by typing 'cheap rental' in the inworld search, and then possibly 'cheap land', cheap skybox', etc and I've always found something good. For my current home I have a sky platform with 200 LI for 200 lindens a week. A sky platform is empty but I could put a home or a skybox with about 60 prims and have 140 prims left to decorate the home. Trompe L'oeil has some nice small homes to buy that are about 50-60 LI for the home itself. To the OP, you should visit Butterfly Hollow to see what a beautiful landscaped sim with home rentals looks like in SL but Butterfly Hollow while not expensive is not cheap either but if you landscape your place it takes a lot of prims to do that.
