  1. Is some of your list ok for "teen" avatars? Some of the great modern and classic fiction involves youth being "at serious risk", then becoming heroes (or even victims) so that the (often young) reader may feel empathy for their struggle and (hopefully) victory. Just 2 examples: - Hansel and Gretel were destined to be eaten by the witch (if I have my story straight) - "Ender's Game" (I'm not a fan) in its novel form had a cruel youth (who did not blink at causing pain to others) ultimately participate in battles himself At the same time, I've seen fiction where broken bones were a fetish (manga) or led to a character's death ("A Separate Peace", which was required reading at my school). But that's ok on your personal list. So, while obviously we all have our opinions, I see examples on both sides where removing those "violent" aspects from stories would change the literature about and available to our youth. Conversely, including certain "violent" aspects may need to include recognition that the same "violence" (accidental or otherwise) can be VERY dark. Guess I'm with @Madi Melodious on this one.
  2. TBH, I read the quote they posted (possibly missing some context), and could see the source of confusion, but would not have necessarily made the same assumption.
  3. Irony: In many of the most popular anime that I personally have watched (based on Manga of the same names), the main characters are still "school aged". Literally, the characters are still "in school". In some cases, they are the "teacher" but that is an "edge case" (in the example of "GTO", "Great Teacher Onizuka").
  4. No, but there is strong feeling in certain groups that young looking avatars are explicitly created to fool and catfish men. My own US$0.02 : Some people who seem "paranoid" about the topic, may be afraid to be "caught" catfishing. 🙂 Hey, I'm just throwing it out there.
  5. SL measurements are in "meters". So, most measurements of "area" are in "square meters".
  6. It's more "opinion" than "guessing", I don't think most are trying to "fool us"! The thread started out with people getting other's opinions, although some do seem like "trick questions".
  7. Cinnamon, since I find the androgynous example very attractive, I hope they are intended "Adult" (I don't want to be the "creepy type")! I don't give a lot of compliments in-world since I'm not "that guy", but would probably be brave enough to do so if I ran into one of yours in-world.
  8. Short answer: Yes. No. Because reasons! No. Yes. Longer answer: My understanding is, that "Alphas" usually insist on adult activities which suit their own definitions of acceptability. I would blame them, as they are most likely complaining about not getting the Second Life they want, while in actuality are proponents of activities they deem acceptable (that at the same everyone else can tell are adult activities). Explained more simply: "bossy types" ("Alphas") are the problem by insisting on how Second Life should be, while at the same being blind to the fact that their own demands are a form of "adult activity" (kink). Their adult kink of being "bossy" is obvious and clear for everyone else to see.
  9. TBH, I had thought of it but not the way it showed up! Probably similar, almost the same. Less serious though. More humorous (if possible). Less creepy!
  10. Since I just visited someone recovering from Gillain Barre - serious literal paralysis as a result of vaccination, I understand what you've written more than most will. Thank you for sharing. As to Arielle's comment, I honestly think there are people who feel justified in whatever they say without repercussions; echoed in your example of Piers Morgan. Thanks again!
  11. LOL! Thought you meant I should have guessed. But the years of being a "cat person" are far, far behind me.
  12. Well yes, of course - but MOST cats don't have that type of ears vs. face. 🙂 I happened to study cat breeds when I was younger, I had many, many books on them! And etc. But anyway, the Sphinx wasn't so popular or common then as it is now (in various TikTok videos even, etc.). That's my excuse, and I'm sticking with it!
  13. Sorry I didn't guess it was a cat! Those ears.. 🙂
  14. This was also done in a scene in "The Good Fight". Wanda Sykes was the character who showed up as the cat.
  15. Glad you noticed 😄 Just be careful with those in RL Public!
  16. These days, most companies already use Zoom or Microsoft Teams, etc. for voice meetings (and chat within the meeting). So if they didn't trust the LL security they could just continue to do that for the voice part of the meeting. That would also easily accommodate those who do not have the ability to login to SL but need to attend the meeting.
  17. While I do not approve of guns (in general), at least that child is holding a "toy" gun with an orange "safety-tip".
  18. I suggest Help > Report Abuse as every viewer has a functional Abuse Report option all ready, and no one will see you doing the deed. There used to be a way to "Summon a Linden NOW". 🙂 I saw it with my own eyes, it was beautiful. They dealt with griefers on the spot.
  19. I added emphasis to the quote above. Not everyone is paranoid. I am NOT name-calling, just stating that the way you described it sounds like paranoia. Idea: We need "safe word" phrases that discretely call for Linden help, like "CALL 911"; when used, they would be like a marker in the chat log. (I am bad at coming up with "safe word" phrases due to a personal traumatic experience, or would suggest something better than "CALL 911".)
