  1. delete Prokofy cleared up who that person was. So all good
  2. on all the times i played I have been about 1.65-1.75m on the editor i was about average height the 1st time the second time I was squiddy compared to like everyone then the 3rd time petites had come out, and people had started to downsize normal avatars as well. So still squiddy but not the squiddiest like before then I notice this time that is quite a lot of people shorter than me now so I dont worry about it + but yes like you say. Some guys just max the sliders bc boss. If you try keep up height wise then you will get stumpy little arms like they have i wouldnt worry about it if I was you. Just be what you want and be happy. If some guy says to you that it feels like dancing with their little sister then just say that is not every day you get to dance with a 8feet giant not counting his head. jejjeje (:
  3. seems your mesh bodies and marketplace authorisation failure has been fixed already. So please to not worry about that anymore + about your RP that you think is greifing. Ask your RP tutor about that ok. They maybe will say no. or yes. Depending on how many questions you ask them. Just ask them ok. And they will say. If they mutt you then probably to many + about your paypal not working. Is ok is not working bc you can use Lumiya. bc you cant see anything anyways that you would of bought if your paypal was working. So dont worry about it + and bc your voice not working then thats good as well. bc you dont have to scream anymore bc nobody going to hear you anyways either. So mars well have a sandwich instead + about the god fix. Get some Marmite. Is the best for sandwiches + and about is it you yes and no or maybe somehow or not maybe
  4. weell !! as a Linden said the other day in the Tech forums, is better that people complain loudly than not complain at all the OP also said quite clearly what is their problem. So at least it was a good flounce. Informative anyways
  5. is pretty interesting this as well how far do we go in teaching young people to have ambition to lead ? i was reading this recent paper from this educator lady professor the other day. (I cant rememeber now who it was. I will try to remember and see if I can find the link) was about Millenials that due to a societal desire to teach leadership to young people, we have created a generation who are ambitious to lead. In organisations they want fast promotion, they want remuneration that equates with their tutoring (their perceived leadership skills). They want a lifestyle that comes as a reward from this basically they are the result of their schooling. They are ambitious and they want the rewards of their ambitions now. bc they have been schooled to be leaders + what the paper was about is that this doesnt actual work for organisations. In organisations we cant all be the boss. That for every No. 1 there is a No. 2. For every No. 2 there are No. 3s and so on all the way down to the No.s at the coalface each No. is vital to the success of the organisation, but only vital when the No. is understanding of this they may rise to be a No.1 one day, but in the meantime they need be the best No. X in the position they actual are. That when a new young person comes in with lots of schooling to be a No.1, and is not the No.1, then they pretty much useless to the organisation, when they are not accepting of this the paper explores this problem and suggests that it should be addressed in future teaching
  6. is a pretty interesting problem this i think a way could be is: if each asset UUID was credentialled to a prim UUID example i buy a chair. The texture UUID can only be used on the prim to which the chair creator applied it, or a copy of that prim when is Copy perm. If I try to apply the UUID to another prim (even from the same chair maker) then it wont display the current SL system follows this form in usage generally in application, except that there is no credentialling step. In application a texture is a property of a prim when applied how the system works now means that possession/knowledge of the UUID is all the credentials I need to display it. Which is the issue in this case + with system skins and layers then a way to credential could be: the skin texture is applied to a prim of type Layer Applier. When I wear the prim the texture is applied to the avatar. When I remove the prim the layer remains applied until I wear another prim of type + basically if I dont possess the credentialling prim then no asset, texture, anim, sound, etc will work to make this really useful for users/creators/scripters etc then can change a prim type to be able to have lists of assets the creators own script can apply the assets. A buyer/users own script can apply assets from the lists to the prim when the prim is Modify perm. Same in the Edit tool when Modify perm. A user can pick a texture (or other assets if contained) from the lists and apply is a major change to the whole asset system this tho + more basically if I cant display the asset then it dont matter if I do know the UUID which then reduce the problem of thieving to the act of ripping content out of cache/memory and uploading that into SL as a "new" asset
  7. Sassy Romano wrote: A private key known only to the receiving script does nothing since my original statement was that the texture would still end up in cache with the filename being the UUID. Obscuring the communication inworld adds no security. yes i just show how people typically go about this when they try to make DRM systems somehow the fail point is that the transmitted message cant be kept secret from the receiver, for the message to be understood by the reciever. Which is your point and I am agree with that
  8. ChinRey wrote: You have a point there. Even so, there are a few simple things you can do to make it a little bit harder to rip cotnent without interfering with legitime use. The most ridiculous part of this is that LL actually seems to have made a half hearted attempt to include some sort of copy protection. The cache files are actually re-encoded in a special proprietary file format. That's simple, basic DRM. Adds a little bit of extra processing time and isn't nearly enough to keep hardcore copybotters away. But at least it'll keep everybody and their uncle from ripping content. But then the made that file format public. In other words, they locked the door and put up a big sign telling every casual bypasser where the key is hidden. That makes no sense at all. public obfuscation systems (which is what this is) serve the same purpose as a sign. We either respect it or we dont. Most people do those who do respect signs tho dont even need a sign really. They know what is theirs and whats not. They know what they have licensed as well and the purpose for which they have licensed it. So they respect that as well sometimes can seem that everybody in the whole world is a thief. specially if you own stuff gets hit by thiefs. Is not true this tho about everybody. Most people dont ever pinch anything
  9. if they are a shortish avatar and wearing a shoebase then they will be higher on a pose sit. Higher than before since Hover Height came out has become quite pronounced (the sit position) this combination (shoe base + hover) specially with shortish avatars. Quite often have to reduce the Hover Height to negative (less than 0.0) + i dont wear shoe base anymore for this reason. Just use the Hover Height to adjust for standing. 0.0 for flats. +something for heels altho when +something then when sit/lie down, do have to adjust again downto at least 0.0. Or less even sometimes, depending on how the sit object is animated/scripted
  10. nuuuu !!! blinking monolinguals jeejjeje (:
  11. in the State of Michigan Probate Court, a PC675 is a: Petition to Terminate or Modify Guardianship of a Legally Incapacitated Individual or Minor I think OP is most likely going to get their own form filled in + is either that or a hydraulic sensor for a tractor and given that it seems to be malfunctioning brandnew out the box then probably best to send it back for a replacement part (:
  12. just about DRM more specific, encoding strings (which UUIDs are) can easy enough make a inworld/web public-private key encoder/decoder. The prim/mesh model has its own private key to decode the string encoded with its public key. A public key which anyone can have. Applier makers, etc for channel transmit then can further size encode it (the UUID) down to a 9 char (18 byte) unicode string altho when it (the resource pointed at by the UUID) hits the user computer then the inworld/web DRM is broken + eta 9 char. UUID
  13. ChinRey wrote: Right now I just don't feel like making anything for Second Life anymore. can be a bit depressing for sure when first realise the full extent of the futility of DRM systems. That they dont work bc they cant actual work in practice. That they a waste of space pretty much however, I think is best to remember the words of Pamela, who is a veteran of this environment. Pamela's words are: "I dont make stuff for dishonest people. I make stuff for honest people. Is honest people who get me up in the morning and who I go to work for every day"
  14. nuuu !!! can get in big trouble doing that if not careful (: sky painters and sky runners tho are pretty cool. Fractal paintings as well. with a little puppet person as the rezzer. with a brush. splish splosh splish splosh splash !! + for anybody who might have a go at doing this then is best when doing paintings to put the rez object on temp_rez or lldie. Otherwise can take ages to delete all the prims afterwards
  15. had another go in same shop on the 3.8.5 (305528) only 10 avatars this time on recommended for GTX660 then: 3 jellybabies for 35FPS about on No Limit then 26FPS about + i think the increase in default from 60,000 to 80,000 for my 660 card is about right
  16. yes. for a building tool your way is much better + i just show a shooter bc i used to make those kinds of things once. Flying shooters with bling on. They quite fun to watch. Zoom round in patterns going pew pew pew!! (:
  17. MB Robonaught wrote: I'd like to know two things as a creator. One, why isn't there any information for us creators, as real businesses, to prepare for prior to release such as specific building criteria and scripting limitations? Two, if it is going to be like YouTube will we all be slammed by popup ads every few seconds like on YouTube? about the first is not much info yet bc the project is in Alpha. Stuff is still being worked out, the architecture/design and that. When it goes Beta then the architecture will be pretty much worked out is not much point releasing info at this Alpha stage, info still subject to change. We just have to wait until the Beta when things have solid up a bit + about the second if the Sansar Xps are resident-driven (owned and created) and is possible to addify them then yes. Ads be all over some of the Xps. Same how they are on some sims in SL
  18. i dont want to depress you but good jackpot game scripters industry rates start at about 300,000L per game script. And none of them who get paid this much are much interested in operator partnership is lots of people who would like 10,000L tho. Not sure what you will actual get for it tho, given what the industry ruling rates are
  19. i read on the GeekDad article that Ebbe has said that they (LL) are now viewing creator in a wider context that while making actual stuff is kinda unavoidable (bc no stuff no nothing) their emphasis when saying creator is now on mounting the stuff inworld so thats good http://geekdad.com/2015/10/project-sansar/ + Sansar Xp in a box as well. for resales. Hope that comes to SL as well. SL Xp OARs be pretty good I think
  20. i just add a whatelse on here if just want to make a ring then a whatelse way is with a shooter. example: string thingy = "rezthingy"; // thingy in contentsinteger num = 6; // make the num of thingys to rez a multiple of 2, 3 or 5 to space goodfloat dist = 2.0; // distance from rezzershooter(){ rotation save = llGetRot(); // save start orient of rezzer rotation rads = // radians to rotate on each step llEuler2Rot(<0, 0, 360.0 / (float)num> * DEG_TO_RAD); vector pos = llGetPos(); integer i; for (i = 0; i < num; i++) { // rez the thingys by rotate the rezzer rotation rot = llGetRot(); llRezObject(thingy, pos + <dist, 0, 0> * rot, ZERO_VECTOR, rot, 0); llSetRot(rads * rot); } llSetRot(save); // tidy by set rezzer back to start orient }default{ touch_end(integer total_number) { shooter(); }}
  21. yes. I was just being a bit neutral about it (: + the improvements to SL pretty much started under Rod Humble. Has been a long haul for LL and us for sure, and we now seeing the results of all that hard work. So thats good the thing he (Rod Humble) did right was to refocus on what it was the company was supposed to be doing. Which was to be a engineering company. Which they LL are at heart. They had kinda lost sight of this a little bit at the time I think while lots of LL staff can be credited for the engineering progress since, I think the most important hire they made was Oz Linden. As a manager he brought discipline to the engineering teams in the beginning he had quite a fractious relationship with some of us residents who were into homebrews/tpvs at the time, but was mostly bc homebrewers werent used to working in a disciplined way either. We/they just did what we wanted, however we wanted, as it suited out whims. But after a while most of the tpvs got it, and they been making better viewers themselfs bc of their learning to work in a disciplined way as well. So in that sense we all better off I think + engineering is a discipline. That while engineers can be creative and artistic, creative art is also a discipline. That when we dont practice our crafts (arts and sciences) with discipline, then our outputs are not much better than kindy finger paintings. When do approach our work with discipline then we make useful products/objects for people other than the kindy parents + for sure is still a long way to go to realize everything that the LL creative engineering teams want to do, but the discipline that has been put on them has I think been quite a relief to them the team members, and they have responded quite positively to this is measurable this in the visible work LL have produced since they began working this way. And it also shows in the maturity of the indie teams who make the major tpvs for the mainstream. Which also is measurable. All the mainstream tpvs are seriously mature products these days
  22. ChinRey wrote: irihapeti wrote: from what we know from what LL Ebbe has said so far then: q1. No. LL pay as much attention to problems with SL as they always have I don't think that is quite true but in a positive way. It seems to me LL actually is paying far more attention to SL issues now than they used to. No meaning I disagree that LL is paying less attention than they do normally
  23. from what we know from what LL Ebbe has said so far then: q1. No. LL pay as much attention to problems with SL as they always have q2. Not much of SL content will be exportable to Sansar, if any. No. You get no compensation (payment) if you stop playing in SL. Is in the ToS this that you signed up to when you logged in to SL q3. if SL can be considered to be pay-to-play then so can Sansar. SL isnt so dont think so q4. L$ will be the currency of Sansar. L$ balances will be transferrable between SL and Sansar. If you mean buying L$ (or tiers) with RL currency then LL have just taken on a new payments processor company, So check them out on your SL web account page q5. if SL is a community minded program then so will be Sansar. If by community you mean Mainland then the LL jury is still out on that one. So dunno q6. it wont q7. L$ is transferable between SL and Sansar. So you got no worries about that + basically Sansar is not SL 2.0. Is a whole new other virtual world platform LL are building. The only things Sansar and SL have in common is: a) we can have the same inworld name in Sansar as we do in SL, if we want b) L$ will be transferable between our accounts in SL and Sansar and thats about it
