I cant do technically I can, but nah! I am forever unhappy. Like I made a prim when I first started. Is perfect in shape and form. Is the most perfect thing I ever made. Except that is not finished yet. bc I cant decide what texture or even what color it should be. Is terrible, I sometimes think I need get counselling about it (: my inventory has all kinds of unpainted things in it, that I made. plinkity plink peckity peck and nearly done. They still waiting tho for my inner painter to emerge (:
  2. about stuff that is kinda hidden in the Governor Mansion Clementina is a time capsule. Creator is Ryan Linden, Owner is Jake Cellardoor. Date June 2003 in the capsule is quite a lot of stuff. One of the stuff is a texture named: "first hour of beta - new grid" have always wanted to see what is this texture, as (seems to me maybe dunno for sure) it could be the first snapshot of SL ever taken

That is, you can't now allow anyone else to log in on your account without LL's prior written agreement. Business partners with shared business alt accounts might want to consider their positions and how best to regularise them with LL. yes agree. The bit in brackets about permitting access is new
  4. i think is that LL is just making it clear that their employees are entitled to the same protections that the residents have when it comes to them as individuals that while employees can be held to account for what actions/decisions they do make, character assasinations are not part of this examples: Ebbe I think that what you guys are doing in not lowering tiers is going to create some big changes for me. My enjoyment of SL is really going to suffer. Here's why [......] And that really sux which is fair enough comment I think as opposed to: something sux something samething sux something more same sux something same same sux sux suxiest some same sux some more same sux ... evah !!!
  5. the arbitration clause is interesting it requires us to agree to forgo joining in a class action lawsuit with other plaintiffs + other interesting thing is that while we are required to take our dispute to Arbitration, we are not required to enter into Binding Arbitration. Meaning that we cant be bound by a Arbitrator decision when we have elected at the outset to not be bound. Meaning that we can pursue the matter further in the Courts on points of law. Meaning that we can show that the Arbitrator erred in law in reaching their decision basically the US law says we cant be bound against our will. What we do have to be careful about tho is that when LL elect to go to Arbitration then we should be understanding that it will most likely be a offer to go to Binding Arbitration. So best to think about that a bit before agree + the class action thing tho is something that a whole bunch of US companies are now doing in recent years. Some are even inserting these into product purchases, some even into employment contracts now seems to me that this is a bit counter to a basic freedom. That we are compelled give up a legal right to as a condition of buy/work/play in a environment. Dont agree to give up a legal right then cant play/have/participate has been a number of cases gone to the US Supreme Court on this. The US Supreme Court has ruled in majority decisions that is not unconstitutional (within the narrow definitions of the cases before them) to voluntarily give up a legal right is pretty murky this tho I think. In a slippery slope sense. That once we can agree to give up legal rights then it can encourage us to pursue other areas where we can get people to give them up also + Slippery slopes and where they can lead to is some law changes being pushed by some business lobbyists in the US at the mo. The changes are that Ignorance of the Law is a viable defence in a Court of law basically the change being sought is that the prosecutor must prove that a defendant knowingly broke the law. That proving they did break the law is no longer enough to secure conviction. The prosecutor must also provide evidence that the defendant knew that they had is really slippery this + ps to post this I had to agree to give up my legal right to join in any class actions against LL. I wonder if I could start a class action about this ? That being required to not join a class action so to post about being required to not join a class action, is class actionable in itself ? (:
  6. if I was buying it for myself then I would go with the NVidia reasons: a) NVidia is what I am most familiar with b) i have NVidia GeForce Experience installed. I automagic get all the latest drivers for the latest games. NVidia are constantly tweaking their drivers to maximise performance for each game title as they come out + about future proofing sometimes I think we can over-estimate this. Usually what happens is that what we buy now, is kinda not up to it when the future arrives. DirectX 13 or 14 or OpenGL 5 or 6. or whichever for example. So we end up buying a whole new hardware anyways at that time, for the new experiences that comes with these futures + ps if I did buy the AMD I would get it bc is a bit cheaper, and I can buy something else with the savings
  7. can understand what you saying. Where you coming from i just add that the moments we are logged in are for most of us, quite short relative to the rest of the time in our lives. In the same way that the time we spend in a pub dancing as teenagers is also quite short relatively + some more thoughts i think also that sometimes we can mix up youth with perfection. Conflate maybe that we can conflate youthful-looking with perfection, in how we look and how we groom, as a way of disguising or hiding even, the imperfections (usually imagined, but not always) in ourself i just say about my own avatar as a maybe way of explaining what I mean, in a counter kinda way + i have always had a imperfect avatar one eye is a little bit more buggy than the other. My nose is not aligned on 50. My nostrils are a bit wider as a relationship with my mouth. My chin recedes a little bit more from what might be a classical norm. I am a bit jowlly. I have a tiny overbite. My mouth is a bit off center. My whole head is a bit crooked as well my skin has imperfections as well. Is a quite expensive skin, is not immaculate tho. Immaculate in the flawless perfect sense. It not only has artist drawn imperfections like freckles and moles, in places the texturing is smudged and misaligned due to artist error + the combination is that I am imperfect to look at up close has always been this way. In the time before the last time I played, I had a skin which was also imperfect with the same shape imperfections. The skin I got now is pretty much the same tone shading as that one. And same as the time inbetween also on the time before, sometimes people would say to me stuff like: You looking a bit aged/dated dear. You should freshen your look up. and they would give me LMs and stuff to skin shops and that i know that they meant well. But I never said nothing other than just say thanks and I think about it. But I never did. This is who I am. That if I wear another newer/fresher skin then I maybe not recognise myself. I maybe even forgot who I am. I maybe even end up being somebody else (: Can be seen this to be a imperfect way of thinking about it also tho is the same today. My avatar is who I am. Is imperfect and I never will get on the cover of any magazine most of how I look is unnoticed by most other people. The imperfections are not overly obvious. They are there tho and do kinda reflect the imperfections in myself I think. I am not a perfect person and I never will be my avatar can still be quite pretty tho when I do my makeup. Is just not perfectly pretty, and I am ok with this + the imperfections do something else which I find works good for me without changing my shape or skin, and just by applying makeup and a dif hair style I can look any age from a girl upto a mature middle-age woman. Is quite good this. I can still feel like me, no matter what age my avatar might look like in the moment i dont look like a mature woman trying to look younger. I am younger and I look it. I dont look like a girl trying to look older. I am older and I look it took me ages to work this out
  8. LaskyaClaren wrote: I'm far from advocating for a sort of one-to-one correspondence of avatar "age" with our own chronological age. In fact, I'm sort of a committed "immersionist," in theory anyway, and have no problems with all sorts of dissonance between how we represent, and how we are defined in RL. That said, I do think that there are some interesting questions that arise from tendency to remain relatively "static" in SL even as we change in RL. Part of that is that "change," even in age, isn't necessarily always or in every regard a bad thing. And part of it is, too, that the fact that 90% (or more) of us represent as 20-somethings says a whole lot about RL attitudes towards age that we are, apparently, unwilling to question in SL. So, are we really employing SL in this regard as a "potential miracle" . . . or are we just using it to mindlessly reflect an ageist agenda pushed in RL by advertisers, the fashion industry, the entertainment industry, etc.? i dont disagree that we are susceptible sometimes to the desire/need/want to conform. Is other factors as well that come into it i put one of those factors. Is not The Factor. Is just one of the factors + i had a chat recently with some RL friends of mine who are in a band. Just sitting round after a gig, and end up chatting about stuff like you do they started out as a school age band. Done the RockQuest, then on to Battle of the Bands. Made a record and vid. Got Mum and Dad to pay for most of it, and all the instruments, and to provide the taxi service (:. Like happens. Dreams of becoming super star rock stars. Like happens They are now in their 30s. They have two performance session personas. They have their original music sets which they play in cafes and other tiny venues, to their quite small following. They also have covers session sets that they play to larger audiences in the pubs on Thu, Fri, Sat night. They are muso grinders. Play anything anywhere to anyone + in the convo one of them said: when we play our own stuff to our following then we connect with them as ourself. The audience connects with us as themself. As 30 somethings typically. Our following grew up with us. Our music has evolved with age. As have our following. And we are friends with many of them he then said that is different with the pub crowd. He said that when we play covers, we play a lot of stuff from our youth and from the ages before also, mixed in with more modern stuff when a 30s-40s-50s+ is dancing (a little bit intoxicated sometimes) to a song from their youth then they arent dancing as a 30-40s-50s+. They are dancing as a teenager. They are transported back in time. In their minds and memories. They are young again, for those moments. We see this every weekend, in 1000s of faces, on 1000s of nights for over the 10 years now that we have been playing the pubs + SL is a bit like this as well I think. Sometimes we connect with others of our own age as ourselves, and other times we dont when we dont then we are dancing (a little bit intoxicated) as our younger selfs once more. In our minds and memories, for those moments

Those need land rights which you won't have at a welcome centre or in fact everywhere except your own land. yes agree + on other peoples land we also got: particle blocking, dialog overload throttling, media blocking, facelight from doom blocking and also attached particles, media and lights blocking what we dont have is attached prim text blocking. As purrkitten noticed. So that could be something for LL to do
  10. try logging in with the LL viewer to test if it happens try also logging in to a different sim other than your home sim and see what happens depending on if you get squished or not, then we will have a better idea what might be the issue and can maybe help
  11. Hoshi Kenin wrote: You will notice immediately the lack of sympathy and apathetic acceptance of the fact that LL gave up long ago tackling griefers. There is not a great deal of profit in tackling griefing, you see, in fact it is costly; it can actually often involve Lindens having to - gasp - go inworld! LL could, quite easily, make available tools to assist the average resident when griefed. They don't have the desire, it seems. Which should really tell you everything. As for these forums they are haunted by the dispossesed: beings allergic almost to actually getting inworld. The catch all smart alec response to your post to 'ignore and move on', etc, etc you can safely bet they never did themselves when first in SL. Which is maybes why they hang around for hours and hours and hours and hours, and months and years in these forums. Why frolic in a multi colour, amazing virtual world when you all you want is a word processor connected to like minded others? The numbers of posts tells you pretty much all you need to know proportionate to the date of joining SL. I sometimes come here and switch my torch on, but not for long. I mean reading fonts on a screen was wondrous in 1980, but pales when compared to wandering the most boring sims in SL, awash with mesh and all manner of goodies, many for free. BTW, I wonder how Ebbe is doing? He handed a few pairs of ears out to some Lindens when he first arrived (which they looked at strangely as he pointed to the residents and then the ears) but dunno what's been going down of late. That said, glancing through these corridors of the undead I see - gasp - the 'Prok' has surfaced again! At least she hung in there till cleared, unlike the 'Pep' who couldn't wait and had to make many an alias to get his fix. :smileytongue: about anti-grief tools you mean like Block for example. Like parcel controls for example. Like Freeze and Eject and Ban for example. Like grey goo throttling for example. Like mesh munt blocking for example. Like physics munt blocking for example. Like prim content overloading for example. Like Group banning for example. Like Push throttling for example. Like estate level IP address banning level for example. and more even all tools that are available to assist the average resident when griefed + why frolic in a multi colour amazing virtual world and not know about these things. Feeling haunted and dispossessed, or allergic even to knowing that these tools do exist already better to frolic it seems ?! ignorant of all the available tools, and demand that other tools that are apparently easily made, be made which tools would these others be exactly ?
  12. the person to deal with this is the landowner to put a a title over your head that follows you when you move, then the person has to be able to rez an object on the sim. An object that is scripted to follow you there is a alternative way to do this also. However the person has to follow you, for the title to stay over your head + if you have mentioned this to the land owner and they have not responded to you (like not done anything about it) then: a) they are not seeing your messages (bc delivery capped) b) they dont see them bc they havent logged in for months c) they have seen them and dont care. That the activity the person, you and your friends, are constantly engaging in (seems like), willingly or not, is relatively harmless in their (the landowners) opinion d) they have seen them and the value of the green dots on the parcel is valuable to them, in terms of traffic numbers boosting. That more green dots are better than less, particular given they are not bots e) or is both c) and d). The presence of green dots who are not bots and who provide entertainment as a sideshow for other people who come is considered to be valuable to the landowner also, in terms of attracting even more visitors/customers + seems to me that you and your friends have found yourselfs in a little social war on somebody elses land, willingly or not. And you would like a greater power to resolve it in your favour LL wont resolve it for this reason. The LL enforcers dont involve themselves in social disputes/wars between people who are having the dispute on somebody elses land If the person was crashing the sim then the LL enforcers would get involved for sure. Involved for social then nah! the (LL enforcer) response to this is typically: If you are upset socially and the landowner does nothing about it and it is within the power of the landowner to do something about it, and you have a power to something about it also, then we (LL enforcers) will not get involved + you are being trolled for sure by that person. but you can do something to prevent this by: Dont go there if this person is trolling everyone on the sim and the traffic numbers go way down bc nobody comes (or leaves quickly when they do come) then the landowner will notice, and do something about it not going there, is the power you have over the landowner. You can exercise this at any time
  13. when I first played on SL I tried to be older. Which basically meant wearing as few clothes as I could get away with and not go red (: 10 years later I bought my first leather jacket, and I wear it i am turn into my mother I think. Is true bc I went to Muddys instead of Dance Island tonight (:
  14. i read this story once (cant remember now where but I thought was quite funny, and I dunno if is even true but is still funny) when Albert Einstein released his paper then this science reporter from a newspaper went to see Betrand Russell for a comment on it. The reporter also asked Mr Russell to explain it to him, bc he (the reporter) was having trouble understanding it Mr Russell told the reporter not to feel bad about it bc there were probably only 3 people in the whole world who did understand the work. And he was unsure of who the 3rd person might be jejejje (:

This, at least, could be the easy way to solve the "I allow Experiences and I am suddenly naked" problem? ^^ this ^^ i vote for this

  18. yes agree that experiences permissions is way better than the old/standard permission system. For everyone. Once we know what permissions are, what their purpose is + just about the Experience Profile. I think that if Experience Owners were able to put in a fairly comprehensive html page (or pages) then would be quite good from a safety pov then would be better to be contained within the SL domain as a property of the Experience, rather than just a link to a external website. (A owner can always make a link to own website in their personal profile if they want) for most well-made experiences we get a HUD that can tells us what This is. Which is pretty good. Downside is that we dont get the HUD until after we click Yes + i think the scariest thing about that dialog for new people (based on what they know already) is: What do you mean by controlling my camera ? what I know about is the camera on my PC ? I dunno why I would ever let you control that, for something I dunno maybe it could be said differently. use View instead of Camera maybe + eta clarify
  19. i am a new person. I am exploring mainland say. Just flying along. Then I get something like this: + what is This ? Who are you ? Why do you want This from me ? i go hmmm! there is a link PQ2015 or whichever. I click and get the Experience Profile. Is nothing on there that tells me what This is i click on the Creator Name. I get a blank profile ( we actual do in this case) as a experienced SL user I can kinda sorta "know" what This is as a new person I cant "know" This at all + wheres the button which will tell me what This is ? like a button which will open my browser and take me to a web page that will tell me what This is if XP creators were able to point the button to their XP tools page that comes with the Experience then that be good be good as well for the new person. And even experienced users. To get info on what This is
  20. agree like you say it isnt what Is An experience that a new user wants to know. Builders/creators want to know this it is: what is This experience that a new user wants to know. What is This that I am being asked by + the same when we use mobile apps. Before I grant access to my phone then I want to know Who/What is asking. I want to know about This app i dont want a technical reference about how apps can be used, or how they are built. What the implications are for the creators who make these things. Or even how as a user I might broadly benefit from this technology somehow i dont care about any of this, at This moment I want to know about This. Who are you ? What are you ? Why should I ever do what you asking of me ?

Canary Beck's notes are so simplified they can be highly misleading. Not her fault I have to say, you can't avoid serious data loss when you try to compress 94 minutes into 7. Here's the whole show: http://draxfiles.com/2015/11/20/show-95-lab-chat/ thanks for the link (: + a lossy encoding yes. So true hoping the encoded message is not a misdirection then sources: "sl users" "unique" "special" "access" "cost" if narrow the field of expansion from the sources of the lossy encoding then potentials are: 1) a deal on land 2) base avatar that is wearable in both SL and Sansar 3) a free Sansar bear

No more or less + a plus of grammar-ish encoding sets is that they also have potential to misdirect like if the hunters can be fooled then they might end up chasing a birdwatcher in the rain and cold of bleak wind swept marshes, instead of chasing a guy in flash clothes and even flasher cars in places like Monaco (:

Not so much the Zindra part, altho can't rule it out. It was the goings on of certain people who often foreshadow major moves that LL make + i was reading the notes Canary Beck made on the Lab Chat show (Drax Files) with Ebbe Linden is here the notes: http://www.canarybeck.com/2015/11/20/the-linden-lab-chat-summarised-in-7-minutes/ is a she said he said thing at the mo bc I havent seen any transcript yet but the note is: "Linden Lab will offer something unique and special for customers in Second Life when it comes to access and cost in Sansar" this was in answer to the question: "What advantage can Linden Lab provide Second Life creators. How are they trying to take them with them to Sansar?" the question was about creators. The answer tho seems to be inclusive of all customers (seems like) I think the only thing that can ever be special and unique to SL customers that will induce them to go to Sansar is a deal on land (of whatever kind Sansar land might be) + so never know Prokofy, LL maybe have heard you about this. I hope so. bc not only is land special and unique to SL customers, is also important to the most people who pay the most money to LL + the thing is that if there is going to be deal on, then what/how/might that be
