Belleza Announcing New Gen.X Body and Event
Freckles Fairelander replied to Lysistrata Szapira's topic in Your Avatar

I wanted a private place to change clothes that other people wouldn't interfere with. I can also redecorate to my heart's content, unlike my apartment, and do frequently, which is the main reason I love Mainland. No theme I have to stick to.
-
I'm a bit late to this part of the discussion, but as far as I'm concerned, my landlord's rule of what you do in your skybox above 1000 meters is your own business and keep your skybox X meters from your neighbor could work very well for mainland, especially when voice and sounds are restricted to a parcel.

This is definitely true for me. I got a much better job a year ago, and I allow myself to spend more money in SL than I used to. Part of it supports the church and associated land I rented before going premium, and entertainment wise, the rest goes further here than it does in RL.

When Do you guys actually say ''this is my look'
Freckles Fairelander replied to Subscribedd's topic in Your Avatar
Never. I have classic / preppy clothes, gothic clothes, a folder full of roleplay, a Dinkie avatar and closet, and a mermaid folder and closet, and two alts. If I have to narrow it down, my look is "eclectic." My landlord, on the other hand, has been wearing the same outfit for 10 years. -
Retired last names potentially coming back
Freckles Fairelander replied to Sakura Sands's topic in General Discussion Forum
Choice of a retired last name might have been a good perk to add to the Second LifeTime subscriptions, or as a prize for future giveaways... -
Press coverage of SL in The Atlantic today.

I think that description is perfect, too! It somewhat describes why I was able to stick around and keep trying- I grew up on a farm held together with hay baling wire and hope, and I love seeing how others either come up with creative solutions or baffling complexity in SL. -
I've been here off and on just over 10 years, so I'm not exactly a young account, but I am still under the age of 40 in RL. A lifetime account is entirely worth it to me, and for the first time in several years, I'm financially in a place where I can do it fairly easily. Plus what Sparklely Sugar said, although I wish folks had more time to pre-plan that purchase! A final thought: as someone who pays for premium yearly, $749 is about 7.5 years of subscription. As of about 20 minutes ago, 7.5 years of L$300 weekly stipend is around $480 of that $749.

My Firestorm started doing this over the weekend, like it was taking an extra long time to load avatars and their clothing and attachments. The heads on backwards reminded me if when I put on an EVOX skin when my head is still set to EVO.

Both by neighbors and my landlord on the parcel I rent use those surrounds, and they go far beyond the limits of their parcels. I'm tempted to start positioning my own sky platform or skybox to take advantage of their surround.

I like to search marketplace for "standard sizes" as well when looking for clothes for the classic/system avatar, then filter by the categories on the left.

I don't wear it often anymore, but I have things from Contraption, AsteroidBox, Apricot Paws, Pixicat, Wicca's Originals, and Rosier.- 6 replies

Second Life New Year's Resolutions for 2023
Freckles Fairelander replied to Love Zhaoying's topic in General Discussion Forum
Been here nearly 10 years but still haven't learned to cam using my mouse and keyboard shortcuts. Learn more about texturing. I can put a single texture onto someone else's mesh (or a plain prim) in-world, but not beyond that. -
What was SL like on day 1?
Freckles Fairelander replied to JetReigns's topic in General Discussion Forum
I've heard of Steller's beanstalk. Does it still exist? -
Hi @Sandra8675! Were you able to figure this out? This tack and the matching skin were on my wishlist for my mech horse, so I went ahead and bought them to try this out. As far as I can tell, the thing that is most likely to make the Link button stay greyed out is forgetting to press and hold your Shift key while linking the saddle to your mech horse. From the notecard that came with my horse: For the curious, this is the Gilded Era tack made in collaboration between Vae Victis and En Pointe. The tack and matching skin for the mechanical horse live at the Vae Victis store; the tack for all other breeds, who don't appear to have matching skins, lives at the En Pointe store.

Speedlight: right click to pay?
Freckles Fairelander replied to Freckles Fairelander's topic in Mobile
Great to hear! It's been interesting to see what I can accomplish via mobile so far. -
Does anyone know the equivalent of right-clicking to pay in the Android version of the Speedlight app? Without a laptop for several more days and am learning what I can accomplish in this app. I can see the rental rod for my parcel and would love if I could figure out how to pay it.

Do you primarily use a human avatar?
Freckles Fairelander replied to Gopi Passiflora's topic in General Discussion Forum
Yes. Occasionally a mermaid. I have an entire Dinkie folder as well but haven't used that body in several months. -

That recent releases are usually excluded from Black Friday sales (and rightly so!) probably isn't helping since most of the available clothing IS recent releases. -
You do what's best for you! I know one person who's been wearing the same classic body with BOM suit and Chucks the entire decade I've known him. I enjoy doing hunts and dressing up my avatar, so I have all kinds of outfits.

Are there any venues or SL DJs that lean toward gothic country / dark country / Southern gothic (insert related label of choice) music? Yes, I realize this is extremely niche.
