Maybe you're right about traffic to SL viewer is packeted in some ways and some are faster or more flexible than transfer via HTTP, and the cap only limiting some stuff.

Hmm, that might explains it. I will check later whether my other applications are measuring with KBps instead of Kbps when I got back on laptop.

I have another question. I have played SL on cybercafes with every client's download speed limited to some cap. SL always succeeded in bypassing these caps, how does that happen?

Okay so I just installed a new internet at home, and when I'm download something from the internet, the max speed is around 80-100 kbps. But how in the world, when I play SL, the download speed is around 300-400 kbps? This also happens on another PC, SL's download speed is always MUCH faster than anything else . Anyone knows why?

And well, I won't call it my preference even though I mostly walk and use land vehicles to enjoy the sims available, but I do fly from time to time. I enjoy sim-crossing in the mainland and would probably do it more with a car or a plane, if not because of some reason that makes sim-crossing hell at times. @Czarl: I have that problem too when using fast cars, try slower ones or the ones that came with gear / speed control @Others: It's pretty nice to hear your experiences regarding the subject, those are some interesting stories you guys got there

I've been thinking about this for quite a while now. Do any of you have / rent a home inworld nearby your SL workplace, and go to your workplace using your vehicle, park it there until you finished working, then go back home using the same vehicle and park it there without having to re-rez it? Just curious.

Driving a car or a plane without crashing. With only 250 kbps maximum download speed for SL, and the fact that I live in Southeast Asia, sim-crossing with anything faster than an airport baggage will almost certainly crash my client. Maybe I'm expecting too much =/
