These upgraded weapons have a different board not the same as the paid vendor board this can be found near the entrance outside the doors. They do have weapons you can purchase with $L too, personally i went this route after playing with the free weapons after a long time, and decided it was a good way to support the sim and the owners for what they are doing. System avatar still have a place using mine with mesh particularly the mask & Roleplay props. As for shoes made a shoe shape and went with a tattoo layer now does look like i have shoes on in my opinion not as stylish as mesh.. its stylish in its own way just like Stompers 🤓 There are some who mix and match to get a balance between looks and performance. E.g. friend of mine uses a mesh body, kept the system avatar head and since the mesh is bom (Baked on mesh) can add layers just like system avatars can adding clothing layers, tattoos and skins.

Yes at times the sims can be empty but I have seen some people, depends on the time/day you visit. Look out for music events they have those at times in space park, usually a nice hangout too that is far away from earth!

I'll agree that it can time considerable time to create mesh avatar, however many are not optimized resulting avatars in the hundred thousand + to millions + polygon count. Multiple that by how many more who purchase this or similar, include outfits and all the extras and you get a not so great experience. If someone gave you a clothing that had the writing takashet would you wear it? There are clothes out there without the logo or writing it may be that the pattern or design is unique that it is not needed.
