  1. I don't think that would work. Assuming the (root of the) control panel doesn't actually reside on your parcel, an integrated orb controller wouldn't wind up guarding your parcel, but the Linden 'Protected Land' (or whatever they call it over there) it is on.
  2. The question, my dear, is, Do you see any new homes yet?
  3. Careful, or someone will suggest we should build a wall, and let them pay for it. 😍
  4. No, it's a simulator, not a magical space where new homes and landscaping just appear ex nihilo. And it isn't Windows either, where they just 'copy & paste' every home. So, if you want them to get it right, humans will need to spend time working on it -- which is exactly what they've been doing for the last few weeks.
  5. I guess we'll 'soon' find out. 😁
  6. Looks like they're updating something on Bellasseria (ppl reportedly can't tp in). So, 'soon' may, in fact, be very soon. Keeping my eyes peeled on the forum.
  7. Could be it's temporarily closed off, whilst they're working on readying the new homes?! (Wishful thinking, LOL).
  8. @Rider Linden Looks like i was right: LL simply shows things differently (very differently). I did as you instructed, and applied the new windlight object to the Region. Then I went to Firestorm to see what the sky would look like with a blank land description (since, as I outlined to others, Region windlight is server-side, so should show up accordingly in FS as well). And, lo and behold, it did! The left part of the image below is Firestorm's 'description' rendition of the scene, and the right part of what the Region windlight (set with EEP, using LL viewer) looks like in FS (with blank description). Firestorem's rendition is slightly hazier, and a wee brighter, but overall, the imported Annan windlight (shown as Region windlight) is almost identical -- at least nothing a few minor tweaks won't solve. So, pretty happy about that. Ironically, I should not have allowed myself to be thrown off-track by others wanting to see LL viewer results, and just have stuck to doing consistency checks within the same viewer (only possible via Region environment for now), as it now turns out, the differences are only minute, and things were always going to look drastically different to begin with, as LL is simply a completely different viewer.
  9. Just subscribe to the Update thread, and you'll get the news immediately.
  10. Hyperbole much?! It's not about entitlement (I reallly hope you realize the irony of you talking about entitlement, btw). It's about making a minimal effort to obtain something you want. There are ppl waiting in line, at 6 AM, in front of an Apple store, to get the latest iPhone, because they want one really bad. New products tend to be scarse like that. So, if you want something new and shiny, most ppl grasp that you kinda need to jump on it a bit. Eventually, I'm sure, Linden will phase out all the old homes, and replace them/offer new ones. But if you want one NOW, do what everyone else does: jump on them as soon as you can, knowing their supply isn't unlimited.
  11. O, I'll take half a region. 🤩 Good point, though. EDIT: Kinda makes you wonder how they're doing it, really. Obviously, opening up an entire new region for each new person wanting a Premium home, would indeed be server suicide. On the other hand, if those regions were already opened, then cramming everyone onto 1 single region would, ere long, get you, lag-wise... well, mainland.
  12. [citation required] I find that hard to believe. From what I know about servers (ahem), I would think any kind of load-balancing would be more sensible (aka, trying to fill the least occupied sims first).
  13. And, in principle, I don't even disagree per se. But there's also realism: considering how much work is involved just making these new homes/scenes, we can't just expect them to work on it for over, say, a year, only to release a deluge of them all at once then. So, the approach in waves does feel equitable to me. Also, I'd like to think the 'First Come, First Serve' principle is proportionally equitable to demand: the more you want it, the higher the chances are of you arriving here in time to snag one up for yourself (and vice versa: if you won't come here, on a more or less regular basis, to check for availability, chances are you probably really didn't want it as bad as you thought you did).
  14. You good! Seriously, looks like I'll have to pull all stops to come up with something even as remotely well-done.
  15. Hehe, this is why I (almost) shy away from building in public. I think I'm not being overly boastful, saying I'm a fairly good interior decorator, but.... I'm also kinda slow, LOL. Aka, sometimes I need some time before the right muse visits me. Once she does, the whole concept usually takes wings, but before that time...
  16. Isn't that kinda what I said?! 'First Come, First Serve' is not ideal, but as they can't build all these homes at once, it's the most practical solution to do waves of batches while they're having teams of 'moles' diligently work on building more.
  17. I'm not a fan of the 'First Come, First Serve' thingy per se. Rather, I had wished they had shiny new homes already available for all Premium members. Realistically, though, it's a lot of work for them, and they've been at it round the clock, for the last 2 weeks, so the 'First Come, First Serve' deal sounds a lot more equitable that way, considering it can't all be done with magic ("Yes. Instant homes. They're out in stores before the sim is finished!")
  18. Love it! ...but probabably won't work. Either they fully rent out the place, accommodating for all residents potentially using up their max prim allowance, after which the region is de facto filled to capacity, or they don't fully fill it to capacity, accommodating for what LI packages ppl might get in the kiosk, after which, still at best, they only have the entire region filled to the brim, capacity wise (but with extra revenue from the LI packs). Still, as prediction is hard, certainly where it concerns the future, LOL, it would be difficult -- as in close to impossible -- to guess how much prim -room they'd need to reserve for potential LI pack sales on that region. Tl;dr: Linden would likely lose on the deal.
  19. OMG! That kitchen is supercute! I love that style! I have a similar one like that (see below). It's not on Bellessaria just yet (as I don't have home there yet, *pout*), but it will be!
  20. Cool. Appreciate all the work you do! And speaking of work, could I ask whether one of you guys/gals do one of those awesome EEP vids on how to do per-parcel height settings? Someone mentioned 'tracking' once, on a channel, but the wiki doesn't, and I have no clue how this is supposed to be done. And no one else seems to know. It's a huge mystery. P.S. As for renaming things to 'bob', guess you should call yourself 'Bob, the Builder' then 🤣 (Sorry, couldn't resist)
  21. Funny thing is, in Firestorm, selecting the windlight you want (for your region), will show it exactly as it should (the same way as it operates when using the land description fields: 100% correct). You don't get an error when pressing 'Apply': it just simply doesn't take, and immediately reverts to what it was before you tried to change it. In the Linden viewer (which is, in all fairness, most relevant to you, I reckon) almost all windlights are off, like in the last image I posted: 'Alien Sky' (or, rather, LL viewer's interpretation thereof, really), still looks kinda pinkish, but the clouds are different, and most importantly, the sun-angle and intensities. Same as 'Blue Hour', and pretty much all the other windlights I tried. This is currently not a major issue for me, as I can still fall back to using the land description field (in FS viewer) to get a correct region 'default' sky, after all. But @Whirly Fizzle already announced the Firestorm team will, at some point, do away with what I believe she essentially calls a 'hack' (which, in all honesty, the FS description way of setting windlight kinda is: but fortunately one that has worked very well). I just dawned on me, that I don't even know how wrong the LL viewer's rendition of these windlights actually are. I mean, prior to EEP, things may always have looked like that in the LL viewer (I haven't used LL viewer in years, sorry). Things like sun-position intensity, and angle are definitely different, though, from the windlights I use in FS. At any rate, I really do appreciate you taking the time to look into these matters, even when I may sound a bit frustrated at times. P.S. The forum should allow for an extra 'Kudos' button, as you assuredly deserve them for wanting to rename the conversion to 'BOB*'. 😼
  22. That's not an easy-to-answer question. They'd probably make more money just selling entire regions, but... you won't sell many entire regions, unless the general populus is happy with the overall feel of SL; tl;fdr: they need to prettify things, from time to time, for ppl to continue to want to spend time (and money) in their massive sandbox. I bet their marketing bean counters figured out exactly how much they need to 'invest' (in terms of their own building efforts) to get ppl to buy as much land as possible, overall. And who knows, some of these 'moles' may actually like building nice things for ppl too.
  23. My bad. 😌 I thought it was going to be an entirely new area. That apparently not being the case, it will be easier to grab a traditional home, I reckon.
  24. Now, and this is going to bake your noodle later on... but who amongst you will be brave enough to NOT pick the new boathouse, when they really wanted a tradiotinal home, and actually dare to spend valuable refresh time using the pulldown menu to take the second option? (Traditional home on the 'old' Bellessaria). I dare you. I double-dare you. 😏
