  1. Look, all the usual crowd has shown up to scold and educate the OP on what is acceptable or not, while the OP is only wanting a reasonable accordance. Yet again the same weirdos post accusations and continue to portray the majority of SLers as creeps, trolls and griefers. That is an accusation and a lie, and toxic to portray Second Lifers as such. And you appear to be doing what you normally do. Portraying others as having ill intentions or malicious intentions and that SL is full of people who want to grief you, invade your land, etc. Irrelevant. A 30 second delay before ejecting someone is more than enough to have the intended effect. If you wanted to add an insta-ban should they return for a second or third time in only a few minutes then I could agree with you that their intentions may not be good, or are part of an ongoing grief. If you're going to use such scripts, they should be used respectfully and fairly, or LL should just take them away from you. So? Why say a statement that is pointing out the negative, and absolute MINORITY of SL users and their experience. yeah "IF" this "IF' that, and seriously how many times has this little story you type actually happened to you? Once? in 2004? Once again, no one was arguing to remove your Orb, since it seems that YOUR second life experience is rife with harassment, creeps and victimhood. Al the OP was asking for, and so was I in a related post, that orbs are limited to a reasonable use - and if people can't do it on their own then LL should step in and limit it.
  2. But then she would have to admit that she is 'creepy' camming on her neighbours Yeah it gets a bit ridiculous around here sometimes huh? This topic is just exposing all the fearful Paranoid Pattys and Suspicious Sallys... and starts to look a bit concerning on their own accounts, lol OMG op lol you are funny. Now you are the creep now hee hee Haha, there is no victim here though Yes. Some of the responses in this thread point to more issues than the person who just likes how the OP decorated and decided to imitate to some level or another - and shouldn't really be a cause for concern. And the op wouldn't even know unless she was engaging in the same behaviour she and others call 'creepy' camming other houses too lol. Haha man, the hypocrisy and just delusion of many here is profound, sometimes entertaining and a lesson in human psychology all in one. This is the best attitude to take, and should be practiced in SL, and taken into consideration by many before they post about alleged stalkings, creepy people and victimhood that is so prevalent here. If it bothers someone so much, then they should just move to another location, or get that 'private' parcel they care so much about - far far away from the rest of SL users so they never have to suffer such 'trauma' again on a virtual platform. Posts like seen on this topic and some of the responses show there are some issues that the OP and responder are dealing with - and could use their own form of therapy, or at least a countering view that can temper them a bit and get them back on the narrow path back to reality and what matters.
  3. Well of course emulating someone vs stalking them are two different things. If it is truly the same person and not just because you are so obviously super amazing that people want to copy you , then yes it may be a cause for concern.
  4. If we default to thinking the best of others and their intentions, then yes - don't worry - it is the "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". They like and admire what you do and how you designed your home, and want to replicate it in their home. Take it as a compliment. Most people go through an imitation and emulation stage before sprouting out into their own projects as they get their legs. There's also a lot of responses that "This is creepy and would make me feel uncomfortable" but if you realize these are just 'feelings' and nothing of any real threat or reality of the situation - then discard such things. If it is unbearable, then I guess a move is in order. Can't stop people camming and exploring and doing their thing, and there is no such thing or true 'watching' of anyone in a virtual space. If someone wants to cam around my property and watch me stand there looking at a cube or sitting at a desk all power to them. It's part of Second Life and anyone who would declare otherwise you should cam explore their property even harder in response. Though it's almost impossible for me to copy other people's work, I will most certainly study and deconstruct other people's work, and let it inspire my own work and encourage me to up my game to meet or beat their creation - it is certainly done with the most appreciation, admiration and reverence for their work.
  5. Never refund based on what you see in the reports or listings you get, because it could just be on SL's end, some glitch or something you don't yet understand. Some of the duplicates may be legit, as they could have returned to buy the product again, as gifts for their friends and alts - not sure what that might look like in the transaction listings, but something to check out. I've seen multiple listings with same price too, but they were just buying the item for friends presumably. Most people won't notice you refund them money because like me will be busy working on something and all we hear is a little cash register sound when we get money, and if we are sellers ourselves we will assume someone just bought a product - and not thinking someone is giving a refund for some reason. It's okay though. it's just $L and didn't come out of your bank account
  6. Exported to *.dae applying modifiers in the export? Bevels got included perhaps? I haven't noticed this behaviour myself unless I applied modifiers I didn't want, or I saved to the wrong filename (overwriting because of change) and the mesh is a different level than expected eg. Re-exporting but saving an higher level LOD over a lower LOD file by accidentages
  7. Maybe. I think I was using Original then Original_MED, Original_LOW, and Original_LOWEST but somewhere I switched the LOD0 etc system and the probs begin. There's been a gap between my SL stuff, leaving for a couple years and working in other systems, then returning and wondering what got broke - when it was me that changed and my workflow. Mainly posted just so others can search, and your response has good info to consider. I guess I picked up that naming them 0-3,4 then being confused coming back to SL and they're effectively loading backwards or scrambling
  8. They don't. If you get 1-starred on a product, people don't even look at it to start with. Any 1-star reviews I have got in the past (all undeserved) effectively wipe out any sales of the item, and can be observed that the actual views become very low, as people may be looking for higher rated products. So whoever decided to trash the product for whatever reason - and did not bother to come back to revise it after they were served - are effective in destroying it. I have one such listing remaining right now. 1 starred - a perfectly fine product - and isn't moving at all. I think at this point after my observations of many posters, that those who constantly promote the banning of other people should get listed on ban lists themselves. A new policy now. Promote banning? Get banned
  9. Imagine if the PBRs no more PBR to spc conversions, one less hassle in the workflow, though admittedly might be too late (looking at greener, more modern pastures)
  10. Oh but then we can 'pretend' that our low poly knight helmet is of 'rare' and 'legendary' status with only a few available (in digital goods which are limitless) and then we can charge $1500 USD for it . Listings cost is proportional to the false scarcity rating of the product. What a crap system. God NFTs and this whole system make me want to puke. It's all lies and I don't want any part of it as a creator.
  11. Trust me. I've approached people about this in the past and they tell me to 'f-off' - because they do it on purpose and fully know it, and waging a war over it just gets me hated, ostracized and banned. I guess people don't like being exposed Let people cheat, steal and lie - and just stay away from them and put the blinders on - because all it does is lead to your unhappiness and ruin. Earth should just be re-named to Planet Lies, because that's all it is. Lies lies lies lies lies. Narcissists, liars and cheats own this world. (It's also the prime reason why I got ostracized from another <ahem> platform, for standing up for the right thing and getting severe backlash from a group of people who do this on the reg, and with inpunity) - so not worth it. I literally do not look at the MP anymore - as I don't even want to know or see, it's that common. LL's stance is "If no one files a claim, anything goes" pretty much. Caveat: None of us really know if the uploader is licensed or not, unless obvious (we know the person personally and it is NOT their content, or they have publicly admitted so) - so not much LL could do fairly anyway
  12. That was what Sansar was for. A sort of SL2 with VR. I'm surprised you could run SL better than Sansar, for me I can run Sansar better (using Desktop) than SL - but am limited during streaming events (probably need a dedicated sound card cuz multiple streams, voices, etc lag me out - CPU usage) In general, people just put what they want in their worlds, and do not consider high poly objects, the size of their textures or anything else, and their sim quickly grows to many GBs in many cases. Most do not understand the concept of low poly and low impact assets, and many creators don't care about it either - as high poly 4k textures get sales - and without any care as to how it will impact their customer. Those who do the extra work to make such efficient models waste their talent on doing so - as there is no way to show this to a customer - who again may not even understand such concepts or care to. This will always be a problem with virtual worlds with people of different skills and knowledge. At least in Sansar, as I've said before, a world that is not optimized will eventually be punished as many users will not be able to load their world very quickly, if ever and after a while they will just leave a loading screen that seemingly is taking forever to download. So that's a good thing, and will actually REWARD those who keep their worlds very efficient. A fast loading optimized high FPS world and with something to experience, see and do (and come back to evolving content) will eventually rise to the top. In SL there is no limiting factor in that matter, and there will always be someone around with a $20,000 workstation computer telling you "Oh I have no problem, why do you" lol That being said, I've tried VR and it was fun as a novelty, but won't be adopting it anytime soon. It isn't worth the investment for me, and actually would become a LIMITING factor for me as to my real life workflow, goals, multitasking, cant be bound with headsets, gloves and other on my body at all. I would think if VR wanted to be experienced though, that SL is not the place for it, and energy better spent on engines that are newer (eg. Sansar) though I do use Sansar only as a desktopper and would have a mild interest in testing my worlds in VR just to see what they see. If Sansar had taken off (or returns to taking off I dunno....) and before the Covid thing destroyed my livelihood as well - I would have considered purchasing a VR set for testing only - to get different view for design considerations. Glad you had a good experience. It is fun, but certainly not anywhere near it should be quite yet for mass adoption (and 99% of gamers are still desktopping it)
  13. Although experiences may vary, from my observations with the various scene and diagnostic tools available, it is the loading of GBs of textures in a sim. Some of them don't even need to have people in them to bog me down. I don't have the strongest internet connection right now being on shared, but this has ALWAYS been the case even with superspeed dedicated line. Walking around just brings more texture loading into view and the console will reveal a sudden influx of textures that match the lag and low fps.
  14. I didn't notice this behaviour either in a Linden home, and that may be due to the distance that this is happening, which is further than the average distance of a wall of a Linden home. Here's a video of it happening and started recently: https://streamable.com/jbh7ys It's almost like objects are 'popping in and out' when you're not looking in their direction - seemingly to save resources? But if you turn around fast enough while you're editing inworld, then yes, you will see a brief flash of white as it 'pops' back in. Distance is between 10m to 16m (half of 1024sqm plot). Happens as you pan or move the viewer or walk around on the periphery. It is NOT just in edit mode. Seems to happen in the peripheral vision at the edge of the screen, or when a wall is in front of you and you walk past it and you see an item pop back into existence. Has also started recently for me as well, though it may or may not be newest Nvidia driver install, changes in SL or Performance Viewer, and/or both. I would think it pretty cool to be able to render a scene client specific to where they are looking, but dunno if that's the intention
  15. Admittedly time has flown by and I hadn't even checked. Last time they simply said that none were available and my comment was addressing how some people got them but others did not, and the criteria for that. I have forgot because I'm so busy, that I was away for 3 years in another <ahem> virtual world, and 2 years of lockdowns, etc and time has passed Although I have land now, I do like the NewBrooke style maybe if and when it is available (it's grayed out). I prefer open plan, high ceiling square buildings. The main point was : I want more value, not less for a higher premium in every facet.
  16. Hahaha! Is that really a big problem in SL? hahhahah some of you... lol
  17. If the script in question was from an open source or similar permissions, or cobbled together with copy and paste, then it might make sense to pay it forward. Other than that, the way someone might script something is intellectual property in itself, and doesn't need to be exposed, and 99.9% of the customers out there won't need, or care to need access to it. A script that is copy only does not affect mod/copy permissions anyway as it is listed on the marketplace. On the other hand, there is a well known avatar sitting script helper that makes your product not look modifiable, even though it is, and that is more of an issue to me as people in the past have said "This claims to be mod/copy item but it isn't in the listing"....
  18. Thanks for posting what you tried, and what suggestions or other worked or didn't work. It is very valuable for everyone who wants to help, and as well as I learned something myself what to look for and search (and what works and didn't) should we ever run into the same problem. Thanks.
  19. Nice is that in your OS install or in SL proper? Looks good. I like the starter park, and the river water looks nice. which water setting is that.. I always like the clear, but blue type myself. And if you even say hello to anyone else there, they will immediately leave so you have the sandbox to yourself
  20. Sure, but if you wanted to solve the problem presented in your original post, to exactly the solution, When you are in edit mode of the object, you can select an individual side or 'face'. So a cube will have 6 faces, and you can select each of them. If I wanted certain faces to be transparent, or all but two, I would first make all the faces transparent (100%), then select the two faces I DIDNT want transparent and set back to 0% Transparency, then you get what you want. Or opposite. Select the 4 faces you want transparent and leave the other two as is.
  21. How did you manage to separate the caches. Maybe Firestorm is actually doing it, but I have Firestorm for Open Sim, and Firestorm for SL, and both clash every time I open it up, between passwords and such, and slow loading inventories. I set the Opensim Firestorm to /path/FirestormOSCache for example and SL Firestorm to /path/FirestormCache on it's install.. then when I see OpenSim Firestorm, it's just using FirestormCache, even after them supposed to be separate installations. Pain in butt when switching from OS to SL needs. As far as viewers/browsers, I'm 50/50 Firestorm SL. If I have technical needs or serious building I use Firestorm - too many details for an efficiency hound like me to go without - but sometimes the SL Viewer simply runs smoother and looks better at times.
  22. I am in no rush nor have any real need to embrace VR. To me as a builder and creator, and a multimedia artist me and VR aren't going to work well together. It can have some novelty I'm sure, but I'm perfectly happy and can very well be immersed using desktop only, headphones and removing distractions from a room. I can also suddenly access other software, grab a notepad and sketch or write something, grab the keyboard and type something to the internet, etc all without the restriction of VR gloves, kneepads, goggles or what have you. It's okay for a platform to work to incorporate VR into their future plans, but they will need to ensure desktop and mobile can access them, as the majority of gamers are still desktopping and are quite happy about it. It's kinda like that Minority Report movie where dude is going through photos and files on a huge screen and using his entire arm in wide movements to do it. Looks cool and looks all sci fi, but completely inefficient unless you want a work out. Why use your entire arm and give yourself rotator cuff injuries working at a corporation like this, when with a minimal move of your wrist you can do the same thing with a mouse.. I've seen the interfaces in VRChat, Sansar, Hifi and others and man do I feel gimped. Not sure how people put VR sets on in Sansar for example, and clam to build entire worlds that way. More patience than me that's for sure. Much more efficient on Desktop where on can easily zoom out, fly around, etc (no scaling of avatar to a giant like I saw in another VR? to do anything). The problem with Sansar though and others, is that their interface is not made for desktop, so is tiny and limiting at times. In short, VR is still more of a pain and annoyance to use than existing technology. Hey if you like it, good for you. I don't. So the nonVR people need to be served too.
  23. Real value. I've been paying Premium for a long while, and feel I'm actually getting LESS for the price overall. Not that I want a Bellisarian house, but I was never OFFERED one, nor do they show up in my house listings - so why have others had access and I and others don't? I also notice over time that yes we get more Land Impact for our parcels, but also the SL uploader is much more strict about things and it appears (from my own experiments) that the LI count on things uploaded now are more than when I originally uploaded them. For example, I have a product made up of different objects that weighs in at 13-15 LI, now balloons to 23 or higher even if I myself have optimized better, physics, LODs, etc. Funny how when I didn't even know what I was doing, that the products used less Li. So there's that. If I ever paid for Premium Plus, for me personally I would like more LI per parcel. It's so easy to use up your Li just for your home or store and have nothing left to put furniture in it or store items lol. One day maybe I can rent a bigger land, but the idea was for me to be self-sufficient in SL without constantly having to put in more real world cash. Free items that have been given away at the kiosks are not much value, as they do not take into account my interests and maybe my preferences as a male, and they are usually quite high poly and not optimized - basically what is expected for a free item. I am one to encourage highest quality in free items always, as it reflects your other work. So free monthly or w/e items isn't much value. I also like very much the older style starter homes anyway, they just need a texture change or texture scaling update. They actually have a lot of square space in them, but due to the scale of the textures, it looks small.
