  2. you could try a resize script that makes it smaller then what is technically allowed by the viewer.

Because literature loses 90%+ of its meaning and relevance to another culture when translated. Take Freud, for example. Two questions: Wouldn't the problem with cultural differences still exist even if the same language is spoken? Would learning and then reading in the original language overcome this difficulty? IMO probably not but you bring up some good counter arguments. However Expect to be spell checked and trolled as that's who your arguing with.

I've seen you do this on multiple occasions. This truelly implies that you don't feel very proud of yourself and need to make others feel bad in order to bolster your self esteem. Everyone can see it but i suppose you can't. It's kind of sad really.
  5. Actually I remeber reading on the forums earlier that it does not work sadly.
  6. Yeah I hear you. It hink the snow rabbit head is fairly unique actually for what it does as far as "real"heads go.

A good translator knows how to translate a book into a relatable and understandable translation. Often including anictodes to explain what it may have meant culturally where relevant. Also you're example of the bible is debatable at best considering which translation your talking about. But then you're obviousally trying to troll so I don't know why i'm feeding this. I'm not trolling. I sincerely believe that reading a foreign language book in translation is like eating toffee apple without taking the wrapper off, or having sex wearing a condom. You are going through the motions but enjoying a faint shadow of the pleasure of the real thing. Given your own failings (as are partially highlighted here) I can not even be assured you have understood my original post, nor would you be able to appreciate this post; I presume you would not include yourself as a "good translator", although of course to know whether or not someone is a good translator would require that you were an even better translator yourself - which would render the need to read the work in translation redundant, since you would be able to read the original. Remember, we are talking about literature here, not traffic signs, Mister Men books, or instructions on how to set up your wireless broadband router. If the subtleties are removed or replaced by a non-author, then the work is not the author's. If the author does the translation himself, then the work is still a different work from the original. I am not talking from ignorance here. I speak and read French well enough to understand that Baudelaire's poetry is pathetically impotent in ALL the translations I have ever read. I am not a translator at all. I have just read transaltions that i felt were well done and helped me understand the culture said book was from. I have read excellant translations of le miserables which gave me a good idea of not only the culture at the time but went through the trouble of explaining it historically as well. In fact barnes and nobles translation of that book is supurb. But I see we've gone to internet bullying though by implying yourself more intelligent then me based on spelling. Frankly that sort of behavior is pathetic at best. I assure you that you aren't more intelligent then I and that I am fairly intelligent. I however will not spend the time to imply I am better then you because it just looks pathetic and I don't tend to think myself suporior to others merely equals. I love when people try to prove there better then my by spelling checking me on what amounts to a casual conversation. You must be a hoot at parties and I bet your friends LOVE that whent here talking to you. I believe we've had this arguement before though haven't we? In which in the end you only served to make your self look like a completly belligerant troll. I'm 90% sure that was you was it not? And no I'm not going to spell check this (what has become a) casual arguement in order to cater to your pathetic troll desires
  8. It does bother me a bit when I see people with horrible proportioned avatars. Usually they have this waist that's ten miles to long or legs that are just deosturbingly long. I think the vast majority have at least close to reasonable proportioned bodies actually but just those few...UGH. Have a big butt or wider hips doesn't nessicarily make you miss proportioned depending on how your avatar is done btw.

SL Merchant can do as they wish, as stated, you buy the license to use the object If the object is bought trough the marketplace to circumvent an inworld ban, that`s being stupid and your friend should have known it from the start as by your story he/she knew If i had a customer bad mouthing me while trying to solve their problem and insist in being an arse, i would have done this aswell as make a blacklist on my website with a public service ban for every one to see along with the reason why Circumvent that... That would be sorta a petty thing to do. Just because you don't get along with the person doesn't nessicarily make them bad and publicly shaming someone is immature at best. Technically so is blocking them from using a product they bought even if you don't like them. While starting **bleep** or "defending" the friend is equally immature these tactics aren't really nessicary. If you don't like someone just let it goooo people. Don't talk to each other don't publicly shame each other on a webpage. It's one thing to tell ally our buddies about the person through chat and so on but posting there name in forums an on webpages is just terrible.
  10. It's not an offset issue as the texture is appearing in the correct place from what I can tell it's an alpha issue. To OP I would suggest trying to save the texture as a targa and mess the targa's alpha layer. It may take a bit of fiddling to get used to but I think that it should show the correct sheerness this way. What ever your using is only showing straight white or straight black areas on it's alpha layer and what you need is a like a grey area on the alpha. If that helps explain anything.
  11. Tex Monday wrote: Was just thinking about this. SL put out a new TOS, do you think they are able to track who agrees and who never does? And if there is no activity, could SL use the opportunity to remove old avatars that have been sitting around for years? Might solve a bunch of problems and open up things like last names, again. Or is that just wishful thinking??? Inactive avatars aren't really going to cause much of a problem. Other then a few unused lines of information in a database there not using much rescources. They aren't using server space or bandwith in anyway only active users do that. Also I think you may be confused as to why they got rid of last names. While I'm not clear on the exact reason I know that it was not because of a dirth of last names but rather for some more political reason. So removing more people from people registered to anyone last name won't bring them back. The other issue is if there just going by who agreed and who did not how would they know that osmeone didn't agree because the just happened to not be on this week due to vacation o r some such thing?
  12. Have you tried the mesh head from The Sugar garden? I feel like that looks more asian then the snow rabbit. The mesh on it isn't perfect but it isn't bad either. Also you can use it with appliers for tangos/iboobs/vstrings/lush/etc. So maybe try the demo on it wortha shot.

If protecting your RL identity is paramount to you then don't file a DMCA, but don't complain if the items are not removed either. You are accusing someone of breaking the RL law. If you did that in RL you would have to give the police your RL information for them to do anything about it, or to a court of law if it is a civil matter. It is your word against theirs. What you say about them may be true about using a copybot, but how is LL to know you are not just trying to harass someone? I am glad they insist on following the law and requiring due process before acting. BTW, I never said you were expecting LL to compensate you but your original post made it clear that you think they bear responsibility for allowing it to happen when in fact they do not. This exactly. WIsh I coudl give you kudos for your calm logical and sensible reply. He said she said is a slippery slop indeed.

Her bank details and cell phone were in her LL account details. So what you're saying is the scammers went to the trouble of sending her a text saying that a scam was going on, not only alerting her to the fraud but also leaving a trackable number in her phone records? What i'd like to know is how they got a cell number. A home phone number is entirely possible in fact verizon uses this feature to tell you what your voicemail number is. But since your internet doesn't go through your cellphone (at least not the internet SL uses) I don't think they can get the cellphone number.
  16. according to there site it looks like you just need to send them a written letter with contact information? So I don't think you need to hire a lawyer. http://secondlife.com/corporate/dmca.php
  17. I think the two options are either sell it as a modkit with a texture to replace it or sell it as an invisible (except for the makeup) thing they wear over top. Usually the eyes are like a seperate peice so that should be easier in that you can just sell them another eye to wear.

(I don't mean stating "there is no God" I mean ad hominem attacks like "that book is a fairy tale." Why always and only the Christian Bible? That is the type of thing I mean. But that's typically just a jumping off point.) Really this entire topic seems to only exist to bash - what other purpose was it going to serve? Free will exists everywhere.. No matter the belief.. Be it in a god or in black holes ..People are just as good or just as bad because of free will.. Religion doesn't make someone better or worse..Just as not being religious doesn't make someone better or worse.. No matter religious or not.. Good or bad..Everyone has free will to do this or that.. It was mans free will that did bad with religious crimes.. And it was mans free will that shoots up a bunch of people in a movie theatre..Or killed John Lennon in the name of Jody Foster.. As spidermans uncle said Wth great power comes great responsability.. hehehe Interesting you say that because the very existance of free will is something that is routenly brought into question and debated. I personally do believe in it but there is room for doubt. In fact here's a little debate on it. http://www.debate.org/opinions/does-free-will-exist As you can see people are very devided and that's echoed in the scientific and religious community as well.
  19. what you can do is look for a white version of the hair style with mod permissions and in edit tint the color to the red shade you want. I pretty much only buy mod white hair for this specific reason. Hope this helps.

Try ctrl+alt+T and see if it goes away. I think your right on this especially since OP says it's happening on more then one shoe which I assume she means all shoes of this type.
  21. honestly I suggest you just spend some time getting used to second life. If you google second life freebies there are plenty of blogs that will point you to free things to customize your avie in the mean time. SL games for money are almost never worth the time tbh.
  22. I'd wear them. I have this cute pink and brown dress that looks like chocolate dripping down they would go super well with. I love funky shoes in sl.
  23. jwenting wrote: personally, I'd recommend not getting any prim/mesh boobs. You don't need them to look good, and all the appliers do is make the boobs take on the same textures that your standard ones get just from wearing the skin (or clothing). Personally I'd disagree here. It depends on what look your going for. If you want boobs that look like there size d or larger then you're going to want them as that size on the basic avie is terrible looking. However if your just going to haev smaller boobs then yes they are a waste.
  24. Velanko wrote: wow. so my price estamit was way off. still i can grind out that sum. thanks for the advise. still fairly new to SL so i havent got the lingo down. if prim is needed then it is needed altho im pretty shure you can get it done with mesh, but idk i dont dwel in that area. Yes it would proably be done with mesh. But mesh making takes a lot of time just to aquire that skill. Someone who has that skill isn't gonna work for pennies. Also creating those things involves hours of modeling and then UV mapping and then texturing. Long process that takes a good amount of skill. I think what the others have said is a realistic price considering what it would take.

D$%# have they had these puppets for a long time to. They even have last names. Have they done this before? I wonder... lolz
