But I've also heard that Camels can be quite testy, biting and spitting with no warning so do please be careful. And if you've never been there, the Afgahnistan SIM is a very cool place to explore. There are also a few Merchants there who donate portions of their proceeds to educational efforts for Afghanistani Women. Plus your camel may feel more at home there. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Trillia/54/75/74 I'll check out the dress code and pop across there. I don't want to draw attention to myself with my mad red hair. The camel doesn't spit, as long as I give him plenty to chew on before the journey. Classy, eh?
  2. Theresa Tennyson wrote: My jeep can go pretty slow and if it goes off the road it looks like you meant to do it: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/GPW-JEEP/2096511 I think a big part of the problem with driving on the Mainland is you keep entering new regions so you constantly get a flood of new information your viewer has to deal with. Also, be very subtle with the left and right arrows - if you hold them until you see yourself turn you've probably held them too far. Aye, jeeps and trucks seem quite safe sometimes. I had a marvellous journey with my partner, and a hitchhiker a few weeks ago. The truck fell to pieces along the way (it was scripted to do so, so that was OK) but sim crossings were actually quite smooth.
  3. Excellent, Nikilei. I'm sure I speak on behalf of the others too when I say it's great Live Chat were able to help you with your issues. :smileyhappy: Things can be very overwhelming sometimes, and there is much to learn. I'm a mainlander, so am myself not familiar with all the settings on privately-owned sims. Regarding your griefer issue too, I think it can be a rite of passage, and should you encounter another one, you will feel less violated and harrassed, especially as you have rights to freeze, eject, and ban. I don't know if you have auto-return set on your land, but I do strongly suggest you do. I also strongly suggest you have a good read of the relevant parts of the official Second Life Knowledge Base (I still often refer to this, and learn something new every day, even after being a resident of Second Life for almost five years). http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Private-Regions/ta-p/700133 I hope things run a lot more smoothly for you from now on. Always remember someone will be here to answer any questions you may have, or to point you to where you need to be to obtain help.
  4. Hello again, Nikilei If you're still locked out of your own sim, as Lindal suggests in her post, contact Live Chat if you can. https://support.secondlife.com/start-chat/ And please keep us updated.
  5. Hallo, again Nikilei (I responded on your later post first). The report you filed against the griefer - was it a support ticket that you filed, or an abuse report inworld? It should be an abuse report inworld, but you will not hear anything from Linden Lab, except for a confirmation email that they have received the report. You sound extremely bewildered by your experience, which I was when I first encountered a griefer. Let's see what we can do to sort out your problem. Can I just ask, do you own your own sim? And when you are trying to teleport back into your sim, you say you are unable to now? What message comes up on your screen when you try to teleport in? It could be that Linden Lab are in the process of restarting the sim, and maybe it has not come back up yet. Please add more to your original post. It maybe that you have several issues going on at once, some not relating to the griefing incident, and you are needing some additional help from elsewhere. I will return to this thread within the hour. And other responses may also follow. Please do not be too worried. You will overcome this, and start to enjoy SL more.
  6. Greetings, Nikilei I'm understanding how upset you must be feeling, but please, you do need to remove the name of the avatar from your thread, as that is against Terms of Service. (Are you absolutely sure he is the perpetrator of the grief.) You sound a little bit panicked in this moment, and I am considering a thorough reply to you. For now, regarding how to add comments to your own thread here on the Answers section, you are right, there is no "reply" or "comment" button. You can add more to your original post, though, by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit". Also, at the bottom left hand corner of every reply you get on Answers, there is a "permalink" button. You can also click on that to add responses to individual posters.
  7. Perrie Juran wrote: Well, I've been hoping the OP would come back and respond to my query. I have a few possible suspicions. 1. The OP is an International user who is using a third party exchange that is spamming them. 2. The OP has offline IM's set to go to E Mail and doesn't realize that there is a setting in preferences that allows them to control it. 3. Or that the OP has picked up a Trojan that is spoofing a lot of stuff. I really was hoping they'd come back and respond. Regardless, while I know people can get bent out of shape, I do too at times, I still don't understand why they think posting you muthaf%^&^%&rkin idiots is going to get them better results rather than saying, "I have a problem, is there some way to fix it?" Just my two cents here. Seems some people just want to vent... and go .. ! :matte-motes-sour:
  8. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Iona The only thing you can do to try and protect yourself from this is to have an exceptionally good computer and internet connection with everything set on the lowest, and even then there are no guarantees. If the owner is unconcerned about the sim crasher, then I would feel inclined to take myself to one of the many other thousands of sims in Second Life.
  9. Dillon Levenque wrote: Well, good. I had no idea what the OP meant either. Nice to know it isn't just me. About the only things I get from SL are the quarterly messages to let me know they've billed me. Ditto me.
  10. Greetings, Mandilena As far as I'm aware, you can't link scripted doors to buildings. Whenever I've bought a building and gone to rezz it, there has always been a notecard to say "don't forget the doors" (because they come separately from the building). Ditto fireplaces.

    Group chat

Welcome to Second Life Answers, Kate Open up the group info for Fab Free, and have a look at the Members and Roles tab, see what Abilities you're set up for. It may have been changed - temporarily. If it looks like you have abilities to chat, but cannot, it might be a temporary glitch with SL, and I'd advise simply trying again later. Maybe even a relog could help. If, however, you no longer have abilities to chat, contact either the group founder, or one of the group managers. **** If you wish to add more to this thread, you can do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  12. I gave you a kudos, Curious; not for this thread, but for the thread you started as a discussion (where there is no kudos) asking where we, the residents, would like LL to take Second Life to next. It's a great question. I have no answer in this moment. Edited to add: I give kudos for posts in Answers that are answered politely, informatively, and on time, but only if I have read the thread. I don't always read every single thread, only the ones that (a) look like I might be able to answer them or (b) look interesting. But my own opinion of kudos is that it only can cause people who already may doubt themselves, to have further self-doubts, just like the "like" button on Facebook. One of our number (Irene Muni) did start a JIRA requesting the kudos sytem be done away with. Sadly, JIRAs are no longer public, and it looks like this feature is here to stay. Kudos can occasionally cause bitterness and resentment; this can be seen in some of the older threads (which I am too time-constrained and lethargic to find right now); there have been accusations of favouritism among certain forumites (which is 99% bullcrap). People seeking advice over on the Answers section do not give a hoot who has the most post counts or kudos. They just want answers, or someone to hold their hand and give them a bit of confidence that they are doing things correctly. A little-known fact is you can also give and receive kudos for any photos you upload. The occasional contests that Linden Lab run are kudos-led, and this can serve to boost a person's 'status' on the forums/answers/here.
  13. Where do they have the pinata? I feel the need for a pinata, to hang the donkey in the tree and bash it hard until the sweeties fall out.
  14. Hahaha, oh dear, I wonder what your mother (Irene) does think of virtual sex and virtual pregnancy. Crazy/funny maybe. And to Rolig, yes, maybe it is the fun surprises, and little threads like this one that do keep us coming back here.
  15. Utopia! Yes. It is a pity the signature is only read by those who return to their posts at all.
  16. valerie, you are so very patient. I am feeling very grrrrhhh!!! today at the number of people who do not read the advice and help they are already given. Grrrhhh!!!! :(
  17. This is my favourite thread of the day. Your comment has me rolling around with laughing. :D
  18. It's not unusual to temporarily lose things in Second Life, although usually they do return to your inventory. Check your Lost and Found folder in your inventory; the horse might have returned with something else, and they have become a coalesced cube that could be named absolutely anything. Also, were you riding the horse, or was the horse just wandering round the sim? Sometimes objects that are temporarily lost somehow find their way to the SW corner of a sim (look at the minimap to get your bearings and go have a look). Other replies and suggestions may follow. Please keep checking back here.
  19. Welcome to Second Life Answers, mrflawlessness What message comes up on your screen when you try to teleport to your Linden home sim? Can you pull up the World Map, and teleport to the sim next door to your Linden home sim? It may be that the sim has gone offline and failed to come back up again. If your sim is offline, you can contact Linden Lab by Live Chat, or by submitting a support ticket and ask them to restart the sim. https://support.secondlife.com/contact-support/ This is a duplicate of the other thread you started http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/i-can-not-teleport-to-my-membership-home/qaq-p/1689261 You do not need to start any more new threads, but you can add more to this one by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  20. Welcome to Second Life Answers, LonePeanut Just to add to the great answers already given in this thread, please try not to worry too much. If your former partner is only still keeping an interest in your activities by looking, then just let him look. If, however, he's causing issues in other ways by attempting to spread negative information about you, he will only make himself look bad. Block/mute him, try and put him into the land of the non-existent. One day he will get over you and move on.
  21. Greetings, Troy, I don't know if this has something to do with your issue. Grid Status has more info: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
  22. Thank you for updating your post, Syleena. Hopefully your sim owner will be able to ask for a region restart, or offer more advice to you.
