  1. It might just be a case of containment on Linden Lab's part, you know. The sim crashers regularly go back to the same places, do the same things, get their jollies, and that's that. It's only if the sim crashers were going to cause massive trouble for the servers that there would be any real need to have a permanent Linden bodyguard present on the sim(s) where sim crashers were most prevalent.
  2. Welcome to Second Life, and to Second Life Answers, Riazifan Please take a look at the system requirements you need to be able to run Second Life. This may be your problem. https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/ As Dilbert says, you can add more to this thread by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  3. Greetings, Tomm I would suggest you check if you have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card. Also, does your Second Life look like it does in that screenshot - ie, jaggedy edges round your avatars and objects? It should look better than that. Or is that just how it uploaded with this forum software?
  4. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Syleena Are you a premium member by any chance? If so, I would advise you contact Live Chat and ask for a region restart. As the items are rezzing from your inventory but not appearing inworld, and not arriving back in your Lost and Found folder, it sounds like your sim may be having some issues. A restart may fix this. Live Chat can advise you further. https://support.secondlife.com/start-chat/
  5. Welcome to Second Life Answers, jukey It seems the message you've had on your stream is giving you the cause for your problem. Please check your internet connection, and then do as Rolig suggests, uninstall any old version of Imprudence you have, and reinstall a fresh version. If you wish to add more to this thread, please do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  6. Welcome to Second Life and Second Life Forums, Sean What's that saying - "You don't have to be mad to work here, but it helps" ? Well, here the saying is "You don't have to work here". If you have a full-time job that satisfies you out in the real world, I'd advise you dip your toes into Second Life, discover things at your leisure, click on the Knowledge Base tab above to help you through the basic stages, learn to walk before you can run. Also there are many videos on youtube relating to Second Life, just type into the search bar there "second life" and a subject you are interested in, and you will probably be offered a selection of videos to watch. Most of all, enjoy the ride! Second Life has something to offer absolutely everybody, and you don't have to offer anything back, unless you choose to.
  7. missbrooker21 wrote: i have been trying to access the keyhole club today and it removes me saying i do not have permission to be there? i have been there several times over the last few days, have not been abusive and i do not have a child avatar? Welcome to Second Life Answers, missbrooker21 Unfortunately, unless someone who manages/owns the keyhole club reads this forum, we don't have the answer as to why you are getting the message that you do not have permission to be there. If you know the name of the owner/manager(s), you could drop a polite notecard enquiring after their reason, but please be aware anyone can restrict access to anyone without giving a reason. Other responses may follow. If you wish to add more to this thread, please click on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  8. Innula Zenovka wrote: I could be mistaken, but I thought "phantom mode" was broken recent server-side changes. I've always found simply sitting on something works for me, and I think "ground sit" makes you unpushable, too. You're probably not mistaken; it is such a long time since I even thought to use it, and Czari's post reminded me about it. Sitting is my preferred (non-AR-able) method of dealing with a griefer. Reminds me of an old saying: never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie. :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  9. It's probably a little irresponsible for me to say this on a public forum, but there was a dude (and probably more than one) who used to go around dry humping people in sandboxes and public areas. He'd video it, and I think those videos are still on youtube somewhere. He dry humped a Linden though, and got banned for that. (And the rest of what I was going to say there, I cannot put on a public forum.) Poor blighters must be quite talentless really, if they can't find anything better to do.
  10. It's brilliant if you place yourself near to a sheer drop, like the end of a pier, and set yourself in phantom mode. Seems to temporarily put a griefer off his/her stride and is jolly amusing to watch.
  11. It is a pretty sad state of affairs that with all this wonderful modern technology at our fingertips, some people just cannot find anything more stimulating, satisfying, or intelligent to do other than spoil things for others. I try not to blame it on the younger generation, but the number of griefing incidences increase enormously when schools are on holiday. It would be rather fab if LL could introduce a feature for sim owners/estate managers to be able to freeze an avatar for longer than 30 seconds; say a couple of hours, or send them off to individual empty sims where they would be stuck in limbo with no company and no way of communicating with anyone for the duration. Maybe that way they'd learn that it's not fun at all for those whose SL is marred by their petty stupidity. Now I am just venting :matte-motes-agape::matte-motes-wink-tongue:
  12. Oh yes, you just made me remember "Phantom" mode, which is/was in the Phoenix menu. Rather marvellously it stopped people from pushing into you, and caused them instead to pass through an avatar as if it were a ghost. Absolutely perfect for welcome areas and sandboxes. :matte-motes-big-grin-squint:
  13. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Ashira My avatar fails to load quite regularly, and, as Rolig says in her post, I know it is because I have not the greatest internet connection. Currently there is little I can do about this. However, more than anything else, please know this is a fairly common problem for some of us. Sometimes just flying up to 200m can fix it, or sliding a bald base over from inventory to avatar can. And importantly, when you try something, give it enough time to work. Things are not instantaneous, and sometimes it does take several (long) seconds for the server to communicate the information back to your viewer. If you need to add more to this thread, you can do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit". Believe you can fix this, and fix it you will. :matte-motes-big-grin:

Welcome to Second Life and to Second Life Answers, behfar. As Rolig says, we can offer lots of guesses as to why you are unable to log in, but that might just confuse the issue. Have you looked at the system requirements needed for Second Life? https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/index.php
  15. Casandra Kumsung wrote: This guy was pushing people off the dock into the water. He called himself griefer or words to that effect. He was very prowd of what he was doing and said you can not get banded for pushing people off into the water. I reported him with pictures but do not think it would help. If he is banned he just has to make another avatar. I am sure he is just a young punk but I still do not understand this. I was never like this when I was young. Got into trouble but learned very fast. This was just being nasty. Why do they do this? To what end? Just do not understand it. Even people with a degree in psychology would find it hard to fathom out why some people do what they do. Linden Lab must get very frustrated by the volume of abuse reports they received every single hour of every single day, because you can be sure that someone somewhere is at any time of the day causing grief to someone else. The best thing anyone can do when a griefer is around is... ...... absolutely nothing. A griefer wants a reaction, validation, attention. People shouting "I'm reporting you", or "you are muted/blocked" will give the griefer a thrill because someone has noticed them, and therefore they exist. In real life they may not have made their mark, or maybe they are hen-pecked at home or in the office. There are many possible reasons why griefers do what they do. And so, isn't it wiser for people to silently sit on the nearest prim - a wall, a bench, the floor - and stay silent? Blocking/muting the griefer without telling them you are doing so, and ignoring them altogether, will not feed them, and they will eventually have no choice but to give up griefing.
  16. XNekoOrionX wrote: I have seen a bad sim and wish to know where to post reviews on the sim at. Does anyone know where I can review a sim, so other SL users can avoid it perhaps and not waste time? Greetings, XNekoOrionX. There's no such thing as bad publicity. Earlier today someone started a thread slating a Marketplace vendor. The correct action would have been perhaps to have added a review to the Marketplace item, but they were out to just give the vendor a bad name, because they had a bad experience. I have no doubt that if there were a place that you could post reviews about a sim, it would only serve to be good advertising, regardless of whether the sim was deemed to be good or bad in the eyes of one individual. If you feel strongly against a sim, I advise you to actually not waste any more time on thinking about it, and go visit one of the many thousand other good sims there are in Second Life.
  17. Bear in mind that my opinion is only my opinion, and this opinion has been based on basic facts gleaned from this thread, and not what I have read in the media (which has been zilch) or what I might have been presented with in a court room.
  18. Hello again, ebonypet I am sorry to hear of your ongoing problem, but LL do care, there is just some kind of breakdown in communication. Have you contacted Live Chat? If not, do so now please. https://support.secondlife.com/start-chat/ Clearly, but briefly, state to them that you are having tremendous problems with your region. When it is taken offline it does not come back up again. If this issue has been repeating this pattern, mention this to the Live Chat operator also, and ask if someone is looking into it, because you have submitted support tickets in the past. Please be patient when waiting for answers from Live Chat, because they can leave you hanging for several minutes at a time, but they are usually dealing with half a dozen other residents at the same time also, and they do consult with Lindens and other people in their department to see what has already been done. I wish you luck with this, and I know it is hard, but try not to lose heart. Linden Lab don't want broken sims either. The reason why it isn't automatically coming back up after being taken offline, might actually not be something they are in control of, but something rezzed on the sim. This will take extra time to investigate, hence the seeming lack of response to support tickets. Live Chat will be able to give you more information. Good luck - and please keep this thread updated.
  19. DQ Darwin wrote: I guess my point is we don't agree and that's fine And this is why there are twelve people on a jury. But just imagine if those 12 people on the jury were 12 people involved in this thread? If I was such a light sleeper that I wouldn't feel someone fannying about with my nether regions until they were well and truly embedded in them, I would ensure I took extra precautions, such as wearing three pairs of Bridget Jones style panties after any sexual encounter. I personally find it difficult to believe cries of rape in this case
  20. It depends, moe, how busy they are in the office, and also it's still very early in California, so full staff complement not yet in. However, I believe Live Chat opens at 08:00 AM - you could do well to have a word with them. Go via the same process as you do for submitting a ticket, but read the screen, and click on the Live Chat option instead of submitting a ticket. Keep it brief with them, and know they will probably be dealing with half a dozen other (and possibly frustrated/irate) residents at the same time. My guess is they will leave you hanging for a few minutes, while they consult with the Linden people dealing with your ticket, but hopefully will give you an update. Maybe the cleaner keeps forgetting to plug the server that runs your sim back in after she's been vacuuming (!). Please keep us updated here, and I do hope you get a satisfactory solution soon.
  21. Innula Zenovka wrote: DQ Darwin wrote: I would like to report a robbery…….when did it happen?........well 3 weeks ago…….why didn’t you come in the day it happened?.........well I wasn’t sure. DUH The Specimen Direction on Late Reporting (.pdf, page 358) that English judges are supposed to give when summing up in rape cases is It has been said on behalf of the defendant that the fact the complainant did not report what had happened to her (him) as soon as possible makes it less likely that the complaint she (he) eventually made was true. Whether that is so in this particular case is a matter for you to consider and resolve. However, it would be wrong to assume that every person who has been the victim of a sexual assault will report it as soon as possible. The experience of the courts is that victims of sexual offences can react to the trauma in different ways. Some, in distress or anger, may complain to the first person they see. Others, who react with shame or fear or shock or confusion, do not complain or go to authority for some time. It takes a while for selfconfidence to reassert itself. There is, in other words, no classic or typical response. A late complaint does not necessarily signify a false complaint, any more than an immediate complaint necessarily demonstrates a true complaint. It is matter for you to determine whether, in the case of this particular complainant, the lateness of the complaint, such as it is, assists you at all and, if so, what weight you attach to it. You need to consider what the complainant herself said about her experience and her reaction to it. On this issue the evidence she gave was...... That seems to me a very reasonable way of approaching it. Many late claimants are currently raising their heads against the recently Late Sir Jimmy Savile. I never met him, I cannot even speculate about the likelihood of him being guilty of sexual offences against minors, or even miners. Where I used to live in Hull, East Yorkshire, I, along with my neighbours, reported break-in and criminal damage as soon as it had occurred, but the police did not see fit to come out until nine days later. As I was walking across to my place of work, still feeling shaken up and insecure about the whole experience, a uniformed officer approached me, and once he had ascertained that I was one of victims of this particular crime, opened up his little notebook, poised his pen over the page, and said "When would you like to discuss the details of this crime", and I said "How about nine days ago when it happened". Funny old world.
  22. Just to add to Rolig's perfect answer, maybe there is something specifically on your sim that is preventing it from automatically coming back up again after a restart. This does happen occasionally it seems, and is therefore out of Linden Lab's usual control, but in my experience, they will have someone look into it, if it is a recurring problem.
  23. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Seraphim. It would be useful to see exactly what you're seeing. Can you please upload a screenshot/photo of your problem? To add more to this thread, please click on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit". To upload a photo, you need to click on the icon that looks like a little tree, halfway along the menu bar at the top of your post. You say you have "tried every combination of graphics and hardware adjustment", so I am assuming you have got the latest drivers installed for your graphics card.
  24. Yep, I have to agree with Knowl and Innula. This does look like an issue with your graphics card. It looks like it just ran out of steam and couldn't get around to giving you the rest of the information. Then when you restarted the computer, it had had a chance to cool down a bit and was able to render all the information next time. Try updating your graphics card drivers first, and see how you get along. Ensure you keep your machine cool, and use air duster to blow out any fluff and dust which all build up and contribute to overheating.
  25. Greetings, Alimaah I really don't understand this word - "bored". And as for fitting in, everyone fits right into Second Life, exactly as they are, including you. Deep conversation, real friendships that last, these are things that do not land in your lap. You might have to work a little on focussing your attention in one place for a while. Second Life is more like a box of chocolates than real life, with a goodly selection of what to do next on the Destination Guide. Join groups inworld that encourage deep conversations in the topic(s) of your choice - fact or fiction, it's all there if you just look for it. More suggestions will surely follow.
