  1. New job? Not actually, just learning a new skill. You never know what skills will be needed in the future. So, better to learn anything when there is a chance. (If anybody needs a well educated professional waitress , I might be available. No promises though would I really have any time for such activity.)
  2. The default system avatar's whole body is mesh. Unfortunately very poorly designed one. As it is an integral part of the avatar it cannot ever be detached, we are always wearing it. When we wear imported mesh bodies and mesh heads then we just hide the system avatar's mesh with alpha texture.
  3. ... and an old gentleman read a book for me. ?
  4. Details below the picture. Head: Vista Lia bento Body: Maitreya Lara Hair: EMO-tions - Susannah mesh hair Top: Nerido - Malfa Top (Indepence day gift) Skirt: Entice - Come Sail Away Skirt (store gift) Shoes: -KC- Couture - Hedy Heels (group gift) Many gifts, yeah... ? ❤️
  5. Thread necroed already four times: 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018. Now we need to let it sleep for about six months so it can be necroed once again.
  6. https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/openspace-regions-r1032/ "Openspace Regions are a type of Private Region intended for light use such as water, hills, or forest. They are not intended for building, home rentals, or events. To own an Openspace Region, you must also own a normal Private Region. Land capacity set at 1000, concurrent avatar limit set at 10." https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/homestead-regions-r1033/ "Along with Full Regions and Openspace Regions, a Homestead Region is a type of Private Region. It is intended for lightweight use cases such as low-density rentals, light commercial ventures, or quiet residential areas. To own a Homestead Region, you must also own at least one standard Private Region. Land capacity set at 5000, concurrent avatar limit set at 20."
  7. For me, there is a perfect skin for the head in the head HUD, so luckily there was no need to buy skin for the head. The body has also skins in the body HUD but they are different brands what the head has. So they don't match. Therefore I had to go to a store which was selling the same skin for the body what the head has. And it is actually a skin applier just for the body.
  8. Then: You bought a skin, it covered you totally, head and body. Now: You bought a skin. Ah, this was only for the body! Then you search for seller who has matching skin for the head. Or vice versa. If "then" somebody had made skin only for the body and other designer only for the head people would have been yelling "are you crazy!" ?
  9. Erm... I don't understand what your last post has to do with what you said earlier, and what I said earlier? 1. You said that clothing (either BoM and/or applier) is a bad way of wearing clothing - if I understood you correctly. ? 2. I said that applier clothing is not always bad, it's actually a good way in some cases. Then you replied with some technicalities (which already I do know and understand very well indeed) to that particular "is it good or bad" discussion. So shall we stay in the actual topic what we were talking about, without irrelevant technical jargon (irrelevant to that topic)? - - - - - - PS. I noticed that after the LL web services maintenance today we have a huge list of new emojis available in the forums. ???‍♀️?... etc, etc... ? - - - - - -
  10. Actually applier clothing is not always "a bad way". I have many nice mesh tops which are impossible to wear with mesh pants, shorts or skirts. It's because those sellers of the tops didn't make suitable mesh item to wear with the tops. So the tops will clip through when wearing with mesh pants, shorts or skirts made by other designers. So the only way to use those tops is to wear applier leggings with them. And the the outfit looks great when the leggings are excellently textured, preferably with materials. Thus in this case this is the good way to use applier clothing - i.e. to make the mesh tops usable.
  11. I like materials a lot. For example dynamic subtle shine on skin is really great and the shininess is adjustable. If BoM will not have materials I'm pretty sure that I won't be buying any skins for that system. Appliers will still be the way to go. The same applies to body clothing items. When they release BoM it really should be fully featured, not 'half baked'. I wonder what's the rush for Linden Lab to release it without important feature, as it appears (so far) to be the case.
  12. This shopping region had very nice Windlight - nice soft light for the skin. Straight from SL, no editing done to the snapshot. But all similar Windlights usually are not great for other things, they kill material effects and have no shadows.
  13. I have exactly one body (Maitreya Lara) and one head (Vista Lia). That combination is perfect for me, no real need for anything else. (Unless there will appear something really, really awesome.) What I really would wish though is that LL would upgrade the classic avatar's mesh to excellent one.
  14. Thanks for reminding me, yay! Now I can see something!
  15. Window shopping can be frustrating in SL. Lots of windows are just too high up from the ground!
  16. These unlucky ones, and lots of similar ones? Allnamesaretakenareyouserious ALLNAMESARETAKENPLZKILLMEEEEE (!!) Nonamesavailableanymore NONAMESTOCHOOSEFROM Totally blank profiles. Must have been very frustrating experience. For them it has looked like that no good names where available. Maybe they never even cared to log in with those names?
  17. Ok... so when the cat escapes outside from the house then the owner runs after it wearing that VR headset so that they can find the cat? Good luck!
  18. And something about single names... There have been lots of complaints that "all good names have been taken" and "no names available". And then people have created all kinds of weird names with number and letter combinations. Well, the fact actually is that all good single names have not been taken. I guess what people actually mean is that "all the names what I would have liked have been taken". People are just too picky wanting some specific name for their account. Just yesterday I created alternative account. What name to give it? I tried CeciliaLorenzo. Message was "it's available". Yay! How easy and fast it was. And it's a nice name. Now I can create nice display name rhyming with the username if I want to, like Cecilia Lorenzo without any silly Unicode character "decorations". Perfect! Anyway, I liked the old system very much; first name and last name, and no display names. And it was very easy to make a nice name (if you weren't too picky ).
  19. Google does not know everything what there is to know. The proven fact is that anybody who posts in these forums will have an avatar account inworld with the same name what is used in the forums. That account's inworld profile can be found immediately after the account has been created (but not with 'simple Google'). There are no "nicknames" in the forums. Forum poster's name is exactly the same as their avatar's name is. If a person has many accounts (often referred to as "alts") naturally they can post in the forums with any account what they have. But those alternative accounts are not "nicks", each one will have inworld profile and an avatar.
  20. Hmm... maybe Linden Lab should rethink what shows where and when, and how to make everything showing the same things. It appears that things are not consistent all over the places. "You can see something here, but hey, you cannot see the same thing there."
  21. It's not even necessary to set those privacy settings for new account which has never logged inworld. Just like my new CeciliaLorenzo account, not logged inworld, no privacy settings have been set and it does not show in the inworld web search. Only Firestorm legacy search will find the profile. Perhaps it's so that it will show in the inworld web search only after the account has logged once inworld?
  22. My point is that we cannot create just a forum account which does not have corresponding inworld account. We must create the normal Second Life account; and we use that account inworld and in the forums. Just now I created new account just to see does it have inworld profile without logging in. It does.
  23. Ok, who will volunteer to make an account, not logging inworld, so we can test this? Anybody...?
