Are you allowed to "advertise" escorts on mature land?

As Phil says if you are asking for "Moderate" land:

"Second Life's Moderate designation accommodates most of the non-adult activities common in Second Life. Dance clubs, bars, stores and malls, galleries, music venues, beaches, parks, and other spaces for socializing, creating, and learning all support a Moderate designation so long as they do not host publicly promoted adult activities or content and do not use adult search tags" (from http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Maturity-ratings/ta-p/700119#Section_.2.3 )

"What does "advertises or publicly promotes" mean?

The maturity ratings distinguish between publicly-promoted adult content, required to be on Adult regions, and non-public adult content, such as private homes with a sex bed, that can be located on Moderate land. Adult activities cannot be advertised or publicly promoted on Moderate land. Such activity must occur privately, behind closed doors on Moderate land (see below), and is forbidden on General land. These restrictions apply regardless of whether the parcel has hidden avatars. Advertising for SL search using adult words clearly requires being on Adult land. Other examples of advertising or publicly-promoting include renting signs inworld, listing on events, buying ads in newspapers, or distributing flyers or notecards to passersby. Private invitations to friends are not considered advertising or promoting. Inviting everyone in a small private group that you control is not considered advertising. However, inviting everyone in a public group can be considered a promotional effort." try the search words ..stripping and escorting and you will find both..

here is one clubs keywords from an escorting search  lol

Pole Dancing, Dancers,Jobs, music , lesbian, Hiring , Dance, bi sexual , Escort, strip club, lindens, sploder , sploders ,  games, role play, girls, sex , Flirt , and play with the sweetest girls . sexy.

i would say if they don't show anything on thier add that is sexual then they are not advertising sex..

now clicking the add and a notecard that is explaining what she does and all that and for this much..that may be considered advertising sex  on moderate land..

since rodvik took over..i'm gonna have to refresh on what is what ..because it's changed some with rodviks administration compared to M's..

It's still the case that advertising anything of an adult nature on mature land is prohibited. We've always understood that to mean that the adult activity is on the mature land where it's advertised, and the ad advertises it. It would be interesting to know if advertising adult activity on mature land, when the activity itself is not on mature land, is permitted.

Either way, commercial sex is not permitted on mature land, whether it's advertised or not. But I don't think this thread is about that.

If it really is commercial adult conduct on mature land then, yes, AR it.

But the OP is only about advertising adult conduct - the ad is on mature land. We have no indication as to whether or not the adult conduct takes place on mature land. That's what we've been discussing in the later posts.

I know exactly why I get into these threads lol. I do it to fill some time. I do other things too, of course. I only post in threads that actually interest me at least a little bit. Unfortunately, there are very few threads that interest me a lot, but they do come up now and again.

Also, I know why you get into these threads. You do it to (what is it you said? I forgot the word. Razz?) me :)

we all live in this world lets share it peacfully.

That only works when everyone respects the commons and treats the public with decency.

Abuse that space, and then ask to be treated well... that's a bit double sided.

Its adult conduct, on M land. AR it.

im not so sure what ar means but i still find it to be ok just dont put up a picture on the ad board about some sex stuff make it provakative ok but nothing going to far. it is of course mature lik you said.

Though it's easy to assume that escorts are, in actuality, prostitutes, this just isn't always the case.  There are a number of reasons why one might require the services of an escort, sex is definitely one of them, but not the only one.  It may seem like a loophole, but it's a loophole that works.  Escorts are advertized all the time in RL without repercussion, I would say that would hold true for SL advertizing of them as well... so an AR would not be appropriate, in this instance.

I follow what you're saying there Dres.  I think in this case, using a bit of
Down the Rabbit Hole Logic
the Lindens have declared that the use of 'Adult Search Terms' to advertise or promote a Moderate activity makes it Adult.  In their infinte wisdom the Lidens have classified the term 'Escort' to be adult.   That's why all search results for 'Escort' are 'A'

fragment from the Adult Content FAQ:

Strip clubs in general are
Moderate
. However, they are
Adult
if they:
  • Use adult keywords in listings and in search.

But we aren't talking about something that's listed in search... if so, then I'd agree with you.
