Coffee Pancake
48 minutes ago, Scylla Rhiadra said: But it's also true that the performance of FS 7, at least on older or lower-end computers, is markedly and quantifiably inferior to that of other TPV PBR viewers -- including even Black Dragon, in my personal experience. That's why some FS users have migrated to Alchemy and CoolVL. It's why I now split my time between three viewers -- FS, Alchemy, and Black Dragon. There is no set way to make PBR work well for everyone, different viewers are bottlenecked by insufficient hardware in different ways under different situations. In like for like AB testing, there is almost nothing in it when hardware issues are removed and settings are correctly normalized. Alchemy side by side with FS is not any faster in use cases that matter (hundreds of FPS alone on a platform doesn't count for anything). CoolVL is out on it's own as that does things unavoidably differently. There will be entire classes of hardware that are now out in the cold. That can't be fixed. Limping along with a 10 year old GPU or a cheap "business laptop" is not acceptable anymore. 18 minutes ago, Sparkle Bunny said: it's layoffs isn't it. Because he's made such a success of Twitter. According to a Guardian article from January, "The social media platform X has lost 71% of its value since it was bought by Elon Musk, according to the mutual fund Fidelity." And an online app monitor notes that it has dropped approximately one fifth of its users. The man's an undoubted genius.

Of course not. There's no magic bullet for this. But I didn't say there was. I suggested that FS could perform better than it does on older or weaker computers. 15 minutes ago, Coffee Pancake said: In like for like AB testing, there is almost nothing in it when hardware issues are removed and settings are correctly normalized. The "hardware issues" that you're "removing" are precisely the issue, aren't they? AB testing notwithstanding, my experience of Alchemy -- and for that matter of both the LL viewer and Black Dragon -- is that they perform measurably better on my (relatively new) laptop. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. So, whatever your testing may be telling you, in "real world" conditions, the other viewers work better for some computers. That's based on the numbers actually appearing on my screen as I use them, and upon the comments of friends who've been testing out Alchemy. No it wouldn't, not least of all that by that clown. We have no share value to pump and hype. Crypto isn't a thing. We're not politically relevant. Heavily LGBTQ+. Avatars humping couches rather than each other would just be a day that ends in Y. There are no government contracts at stake or on offer. We would deadname the platform harder than he deadnames his child. We're insular to the point of being culturally divested from the real world. We don't tolerate actual Nazis. He can afford to own a real yacht. Some of us might exchange sexual favors for a horse (rezzer), but only once (it's copyable).

I have noticed the decline myself not from anything other than my friends list and events I frequent. Some of it can be explained by it still being summer, but it does feel more steep than usual. 6 1
