They removed the lifetime premium plus option from the menu in short order - so I'm guessing they have a plan to take fast action on this change.  It's a fast one - 1 point - i'll even do the testing :)

Except it's the weekend. Fast action on Monday maybe?

We likely have the whole four-day US Independence Day weekend to rehearse the little stories we'll tell ourselves.

If I don't get a slot - I'll know the universe wanted me to buy a nice handbag I've been wanting :)

Good news! Now we just need one more spot because mine came through a little bit ago, maybe a little sooner for having started out in the Premium Plus queue.

It's kind of interesting how they did it: they charge the full amount first, then send a refund for the unused part of the existing Premium subscription, as separate transactions. That probably simplifies things in some practical way that escapes me, but it also increases the raw transaction volume for Tilia by some minuscule amount, so that probably helps somebody's bonus.

Still got those fingers and toes crossed for ya, @BelleBax !

Woohooo!!! Congratulations!! I'll consider that a win for team why-not-us - so there's less pressure on my spot coming through - ha!

Mind if I ask what time you put your ticket in for Lifetime Plus?

The support page says it was created at 1:41 AM Tuesday, 27 June. (I'm not completely sure what timezone that's in, though; probably PDT. [NOPE, see EDIT below.])

I don't see specific times for other steps in the ticket, but I got an email from the support portal that I made a comment agreeing to switch queues from P.Plus to Premium, and that email was sent 12:22 PM PDT June 28.

[EDIT: Sorry, caffeine deprived. I found the email acknowledging receipt of the original ticket, which was sent 22:41 PM Monday, 26 June PDT, so the support page ticket list used my timezone, EDT, to get that 1:41 AM Tuesday.]

Thanks @Island Granville and @Qie Niangao - I have a minor update.  Yesterday, I received an email letting me know my request is being processed and thanking me for my patience.  It was noting definitive, but I'm going to choose to feel encouraged by the contact anyway.

I also noticed earlier today the option was still available; maybe that's another good sign?

here's hoping that Linden decide to give everyone who applies during the Birthday the Premium Lifetime

i get it if the Premium Plus Lifetimes was limited, given that the benefit package for this is maybe not yet fully defined

but the Premium package is pretty much fully defined, and as the cost is approx. 10 years worth, then even 2,000 Premium Lifetimes is not a major dent in future receipts a decade from now.  If it were then SL would already be in a whole lot of trouble

20,000 might be a problem tho, but 2,000 I think would be manageable

I put in for lifetime Premium Plus ss soon as they announced them and wasn’t quick enough to grab a spot, oh well! Not going to go back down to Premium on my main though because I like the way my new little farm is shaping up in the Ranch area and I know I’ll want to hop into whatever the next PP+ home theme is because I really like exploring the new changes in themes, lol. Undecided whether to try and bump an alt up to Premium permanently though. Maybe.

I'm tempted except for two doubts in my mind.

Will SL itself still exist in 7 years?

Will I still be interested in SL in 7 years? I've had periods of time before where I didnt log in for 3-4 years, if that happens again it would be 10-11 years before I break even with this. What if an amazing new thing comes along before then, thats better than SL, and thats where I prefer to be? (No, not Meta, don't be daft).

I'll be 60 in 7 years. 63 in ten. Maybe I won't be interested in this sort of thing at all by then.

So, no. I'll let people more keen than me grab a slot instead.

I have the same reasons to not go lifetime as you.

The amount of land without tier is also very small. I would rather rent land from another resident and get land in a size that's worth decorating a shorter period of time, than be restricted to a small amount of land impact for the rest of my SLlife.

I want to live big in SL for that amount of real, hard cash they are asking for.

I don't disagree with any of this at all.  I'm very happy with my purchase, but there are many valid reasons why it wouldn't make sense for a lot of people.

I decided to upgrade to the Lifetime Premium account. It made sense to me although I wished we would have gotten a similar comparable land usage amount as the original lifetime holders in 2003. They can own up to 4096 sq meter of land without incurring any tier fees.

You were lucky to get a spot!

It went through. I got my first account an early 18th birthday present. I'll see next Tuesday if it's getting the right stipend but the support Linden said it should be the legacy amount.

LOL:

Next billing renewal date:

Stipend is the correct legacy amount.

@BelleBax made a good point about not having to worry about future entertainment expenses in retirement.  My OG avatar will be turning 13 this year. If I'm still here after all this time, I'd probably be most likely to stick around for the long haul. As for wagering on whether or not LL or I will still be around in 10 years, we don't need Social Casino for that.

Considering there are no extra perks for the Lifetime upgrade, being stuck with a tiny plot of land for all eternity would suck as @Marianne Little pointed out.  This alone stopped me from considering upgrading to Lifetime for an alt.  (Too bad, Cat!)  It might be an okay deal if your Linden Home is your forever home. Increasing the tier holdings for regular Lifetime to 2048  and Plus Lifetime to 4096 would sweeten the deal. The OG lifetimes has four times more than regular premium.
