  1. Me too, I wear Standard Sizing, out of the box. No, it's not LL's standard. Maybe that's a good thing. Think "Ruth". That's LL's standard. If anyone thinks the Standard sizing was created out of thin air, arbitrarily by some creator, my suggestion is, "Less time posting, more time reading."
  2. I have the name. But reading what she had to say... Well, I think maybe I am even more interested in finding the real creator now, and I will share the name with them.
  3. I saw this dress, and I would love to check out the designer. Unfortunately, as it's rigged mesh, I couldn't edit it - and the wearer apparently hates the designer, because she refused to reveal who made it. Rather rudely, in fact. Personally, I like to support the designers I buy from. Sadly, not everyone feels that way. So, here's the dress. Did you make it, or do you know who did?
  4. Has anybody ever found a way around these two long-standing bugs that keep getting re-introduced? 1. Crash when editing worn prims while wearing mesh. 2. A lovely little bug that has been with us for a couple of years now that goes like this: Crash, for whatever reasonRelog fails with 'the region has begun the logout'Attempt relog again - appears to work...The system has logged you out because you are attempting to log in from another locationLather, Rinse, RepeatThe second one was a JIRA for well over 2 years. It existed in V1, V2, and V3. It;s still with us. The bug, that is, not the JIRA. It seems to have mysteriously gone away or something. Since these bugs actually getting and staying fixed are not very likely - Any decent workarounds out there?
  5. You don't mention when you made the purchase. Has it been 8 hours yet? If not - Re-read what you wrote, I think you will find you have answered your own question. The 1-Star review you left because of a failed delivery is just... *SMH* Good luck.
  6. Turning off Basic Shaders made no difference. We're probably not going to see much happen with this... Mesh is yesterday's news. They have a new "shiny object" to play with now... "Pathfinding".
  7. First off, over the past hour, I have had no inventory jumps. YaY! & stuff. Tried Ann's trick first. Drank a whole pot of coffee. Inventory still jumped aroud... And by the time the test was done, I was jumping around too. OK, decaf might have been a better option. And oh yessss.... The ability to manage inventory with an interface like that. *dream* Peter's suggestion is a good one no matter what the issue. Connection can do weird things. This just wasn't one of those. Ceka nailed it. I normally have the friends on and off thing turned off. But back at MensWear Fashion Week in March, I enabled it because I needed to know the second someone got back from a crash, so I could TP them backstage without delay. I suppose that was when the problem started, but that time was such a zoo for me that it never really sunk in. So it looks like it's a mix of a feature (Focus shift to an item used or added), and a bug of that feature. Thanks for all the great input!
  8. Hmmm... OK.... Packet Loss says 0.000% Ping time ranges between 84 and 96msec Compared that to a regular speed test page: San Jose, CA (I'm in Florida) Ping: 69msec Download: 24.84Mbps with a peak of 25.32Mbps Upload: 1.33Mbps with a peak of 1.33Mbps Definitely not an expert, but from what I see there the connection seems OK. From other stuff I have found, I am leaning toward it being the friends on and off thing. I have those notifications turned on, and my list does stay pretty active throughout the day at into the night. Thanks for the suggestions!
  9. Somewehre along the way, either I have forgotten something, or an option has been removed. Hopefully, someone can shed some light on this. I want to disable, kill, utterly destroy... That lovely 'feature' that causes my inventory to ignore the fact that I am merrily clicking my way down through sub-folders looking for something, and suddenly jumps instead to the last folder I was in, or one I was in yesterday... or maybe one I thought about last week. This has got to be the most aggravating thing ever, especially when you are trying to sort things out and put things away. My inventory is a total mess now - mainly because I get tired of chasing the folders around, and end up leaving things wherever they landed. Any way around this? Please?
  10. I am seeking 1-2 individuals for a few spot-jobs in connection with a major SL event. This is sort term employment that can lead to long term. If you have good writing skills, and you love fashion, we need to talk! IM Gryphon Ronas in world for details !
  11. Whenever I have to move a lot of stuff and don't want to have to place it again, I rez a cube in the middle of it and name it so I know what it is later, then select all of it at once by drawing a box around it. A straight down view helps here. Make sure the cube is the last thing selected by deselecting and selecting it individually before taking. When I get to the new place (and this part is vital for your sanity) I open the Edit window (Ctrl+3) and rez the coalesced object I picked up at the old place. Since the Edit window is already open, you can then slide it around however you need to. If the two places are close enough together, you can just drag it all from one place to the other, but that can be a pain - sometimes stuff falls out at sim borders.
  12. Just to add to an earlier point... In any of the up to date viewers, it will be possible to add up to 5 items on each layer, from tattoo on out. And actually - choosing "Wear" will replace whatever you are wearing on that layer already. The correct choice if you wnat to add it is... "Add".
  13. Another in the same genre as Avid would be Lapointe & Bastchild. Lapointe & Bastchild High quality and lots to choose from. The store is kinda big - 3 sims I think.
  14. Logged in yesterday to find that Linden plants that are under water look 'plugged in' when atmospheric shaders are enabled. Like they have full bright and a truckload of glow or something. Disabling Atmo shaders reduces the effect to an extent, but when traveling over water, those plants (and nothing else) appear to be at the surface. And a bit too bright. I've tried everything I can think of, including a rollback to an earlier viewer, and also tried both the current and an older version of Kirsten's. This is only happening on this computer, the other one is fine - still looks normal. Both computers use the same viewers, main difference being the misbehaving one has an ATI card, the other one is NVIDIA. Windlight settings don't seem to make any difference. Seeing the issue with 2.7 and 2.8 - but nothing had been changed that I know of before the issue showed up. It was just there at login. I have also tried updating video card drivers, no change. Thought maybe it was a "BlueSteel" thing, but it happens the same on other server versions as well. Any ideas? Of course, 2.8 didn't either till yesterday. Maybe I should blame it on the dog... He gets the blame for everythign else around here.
  15. Adding the tattoos to the makeup tattoo would be very possible, if the makeup tattoo is modifiable, and as long as it didn't use the same area - since we're referring to makeup, I would assume the head. But, this is SL, so no assumption is totally safe. LOL ( and yes - Alpha layers are used for shoes and boots - and anywhere else the old fashioned invisiprims were used, without the undesirable effects the invisi's brought with them. )
  16. Won't work at all. That isn't what the alpha layer is for. All it is, is as the name implies, an alpha channel. And a very basic one at that. For body tats, clothing layers is the only remaining option for them. Actually, I didn't realize that anybody ws still running anything that didn't support multiple tattoo layers. It sounds like what your customer wants is probably something they have chosen to make not available by their decision to not keep up with the current technology.
  17. Not safe at all. With the trend toward SL wanting to be Facebook Junior, there seems to be a rash of this kind of thing. Especially among new users - Using RL pics as their profile pic, real names and locations in their profiles. Or profiles linked to FB accounts that tell everyone who and where they are. Stalkers are a reality. It's very easy to take a pic from a profile and find it anywhere else it has been posted. Been there - don't plan to go there again. And don't think that it only happens in cases of intimate SL relationships. The people that stalk others don't think like their victims do. And all too often, the victims learn the hard way. Ditch the alt, make a new one, and stay safe.
  18. What you heard about was the very useless and annoying feature recently foisted upon us in profiles. mysecondlife.com is where profiles have been for many of us for some time now. Those that have been using old, obsolete viewers are being surprised by it because they never knew I guess. The chat that is shared is not like in world chat or IM, it's the things that people post to other people's profiles. This is part of the aforementioned 'useless feature, SL is trying to be Facebook. I guess it's easier to mimic another successful site then it is to fix the one you already have. *shrugs* Your IM's are still safe unless one of the two of you participating chooses to share them. (Well, as safe as they ever were)
  19. I had something similar to what you are describing I think. As soon as I turned off Global Illumination, the problem went away. They have it marked as Experimental - and apparently with good reason. A version or two back tho, I think it defaulted to "on" for some reason.
  20. Seriously? I walk around all day with shadows enabled on a PC that I got when back when Vista was new. Don't understand what the problem is. Hardly what I'd call a 'disaster tho'. Since I wiped my hard drive and got rid of a few years' worth of accumulated clutter, SL has become stable and enjoyable again.
  21. Actually, what I was referring to is what you actually see as you sit at the monitor. Theoretically, if we are both running Nam's, we should see the same thing. The info set to the monitor will be the same, but what reaches our retinas will probably not be. Anything from contrast and color balance of the monitor, all the way to the age of it will have an impact. Sometimes far more than one would expect. Nam's is a great one. I picked it up somewhere in a blog and I manually install it as needed when I change viewers. The only problem with it now is that it's 'too good'. lol The lighting is a bit too even and when you turn on shadows, the ambient kills them off. Avatars sure look good in it tho.
  22. I believe all you have to do is file a support ticket to be removed from the RC portion of the grid. I am guessing you mean the BLueSteel, LeTigre, etc, right? (Server RC) Or, if you own the sim - call Conceige and get it done through them. The moving as you restart thing refers to Homesteads - they get bounced server to server on restarts, but they stay in teh same pseudo-pgysical/geographical location.
  23. So when Miss Glowbug and her six 10m-radius floodlights wander into view, the scene isn't instantly washed out. LOL! Exactly!
  24. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. You can tweak your windlight settings to perfection - but unless you take a pic and pass it, nobody will see that but you. As far as face and body lights go tho, the thing to remember is that they are usually omnidirectional. So if you have one that has a 10 meter radius and set to max intensity, it will not only light you, but everything around you as well - and light intensely at that. Another that many don't know is that these light systems that some sell & wear that use like a dozen lights are useless. They have more lights on them than the OpenGL system will even render. The best thing I ever discovered in a viewer is Develop>Rendering>Render Attached Lights. I uncheck that (it's on by default I think) and the world gets much better. As for how I see others? I see them rendered as evenly as I see myself, because my settings effect how I see their avatar too. Hint: If you are playing with the settings and you want to eliminate the harsh shadows that Default causes, gradually increase the Ambient light. That will give the effect of more scatter of light rays and fill in the dark areas. On many or most graphics cards, the LL default settings are too contrasty.
  25. You mean login and your balance doesn't show up? Never had that one, but this should work then too. Clicking the balance in the viewer top bar sends a manual refresh, forcing the system to update your balance now, as opposed to at the next change. Sometimes if someone pays you even if it's only $L1 it will get the update - it's supposed to... Doesn't always work tho. And of course trying that one too often can be a bit of a friend list shortener. lol
