  1. My laugh response is jovial at the moment, but also tempered with the knowledge that this is only too true.
  2. You mean the part where giving it a wider base makes it no longer look like a rocket sitting there ready to launch?
  3. Ah, yes. #6 But that really isn't a factor anyway. The system will not allow 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 to be violated. You can't do it if you tried.
  4. Just for fun... Looking at #8, it specifically says "Commerce" Commerce is buying and selling. Advertising is a form of communication. The only rule I have seen about advertising is that you can't exploit the world map for advertising purposes. (I don't have a dog in the fight, and none of it really matters to me one way or the other.)
  5. I don't see why people want a waiting list, aside from it being different from what's done now. If they open a waiting list, it's first come first served to get on the list. That should be enough right there to make it not worth considering. But wait, there's more... Maybe you are slow to get on the list, and your position on the list puts you at about a 6 month wait. You are locked in to that. Who is to say that an hour from now you would not hit refresh and be offered a home? Well, with a waiting list - that could not happen. When new homes are released, they go to the people at the top of the list. How long do they have to claim them? An hour? A day? A month? How long does that house sit waiting to be accepted? Meanwhile, everybody waits... What if you want to change homes? You probably can't join the waiting list while you still own a home, so you have to abandon, and wait... You can eventually come back, when your name comes up again. There is no logic or reason that can justify a waiting list as a solution to any perceived problem with the allocation of houses because all it does is shift the "issue" so instead of the problem happening at release, it happens at sign-up time. The only possible benefit might be that all those houses sitting there waiting to be claimed or declined will be empty, so they will create less lag.
  6. It was because of that confusion that I asked Dyna how it works, I think the explanation offered was very clear and left no room for any doubt. And this by the person who apparently would know best, as the scripter of the system. Of course, this being the SL forums, there will always be doubt and contradiction, because after all... "All you did was invent and produce it, what make you think you actually know how it works?" *shrug*
  7. Yes, I know what that post is. It was a response to a question I asked directly to Dyna. I quoted that post, by the person who scripted the LL system, in response to the part of the post I quoted here where it referred to all areas between 400 and 2000 meters as being orb free. According to that (which seems to be a reliable source, no?) it's 400 meters from the orb, so the actual orb free area is 500-1600 meters.
  8. If a group only has 1 member for 24 48 hours it will be deleted. One really is the loneliest number
  9. Lovely home. The kitchen looks like it was custom made for this house. 🙂
  10. This and the remainder of the post, clipped for brevity. Blake Sea as it was in the beginning connected to Bellisseria would have been awesome. But things have changed since the early days. Back then, Blake was a playground for everybody. Since then though there have been certain groups that have declared it their turf, and for some reason LL saw fit to grant powers of authority to certain groups who have truly made it their own and pretty much control everything. I was one of the very first to cross (and crash) into Blake Sea from a privately owned estate. I was there from the beginning. Until LL made it a playground for select groups. Let's just hope that Bellisseria never goes that route. The old Linden Homes areas didn't, so there is hope.
  11. @s2Pandora That looks great - The bedroom is my favorite - love the look of it
  12. When I first walked in to a houseboat, I really was not impressed. Since then though, my mind has been changed. I've seen what @Blush Bravin has done with hers, and every time she does a new add-on I want it. So I am very happy with my traditional, yet I want a houseboat too. Well, OK I want several houseboats to be honest about it. I get that you wanted a traditional - all I am saying is that being stuck in a houseboat for now doesn't have to be a drudge 🙂
  13. If anybody actually followed the 'sage advice' offered in the OP, this (legitimately) sage advice explains how they screwed themselves out of grabbing a home today, because by the time they found out about the release and got in touch with live support to reinstate, it was too late. The rush was over.
  14. What didn't they learn from the first release? And if your answer is that they should have had enough for everybody (in a month, no less) then you have not been paying attention.
  15. I definitely would. If something happens that somehow you do miss, it's easy to pop back to Meadowbrook if you don't want to sit and play Refresh Roulette on the homes page,
  16. I never realized how big they really are till I tossed out a couch that I consider way too big, and it was like this little thing in a corner
  17. It could also just be a spot where they have all of the models of homes sitting as a convenient place to test things. If that were the case, I'd love to actually see it and see what's there/coming
  18. I hadn't noticed it so much in the old L-Homes, but yeah, most of my furniture was pretty oversized. Now that I have noticed it, I can't un-see it. Every time I sit in some of that stuff I look like I'm 5 years old.
  19. It started life as a swimming pool, I just took off about 28 unneeded prims, made a few changes here and there, and filled it with sand, plants and rocks. 🙂 The Koi pond was originally a hot tub that was part of the pool The pool came from Pixel Mode, not available any more since she has closed the store
  20. I do that sometimes, not everything needs to be shiny.
  21. I am not sure about other graphics programs, but in Photoshop CC it's really easy to make Normal & Spectral maps from the texture itself so you don't have to give up having materials effects as long as the texture is full perm and you can save it to your computer to open it
  22. Yes, it started life as a Pixel Mode pool. I was able to strip it down to *only* 29 LI (ouch) and change out a few textures. I like it much better now with the planted side and it not being all wide open sand
  23. A few more tweaks were done, it's finally coming together. The sand garden in the back got the biggest changes. All but 1 of the trees has been changed out now.
