  1. Even worse if they are walking... No vehicle / engine / tailpipe... well, sorta
  2. So does mine, because I read the directions and set it up that way. They only do what you tell them to do. But explain please how removing the freedom of choice for others and requiring the use of the LL one will make the improper ones magically disappear? They are illegal now, they wold be illegal then. If there is no active enforcement - rules are useless. If they want to restrict it to official only, well... We can still enable damage.
  3. I prefer the functions of mine that the official one lacks, not to mention it's not 5 LI I think what would actually be best would be for everybody to follow the covenant.
  4. When have Linden Homes not been subject to availability? I remember it taking weeks to get a LoftRoom style house. Everybody wanted that house, but there were only a set amount of them. Now, if there are no Linden Homes, and no land available on mainland on which to use your 1024 free tier, ok. But that is not the case. (OK Dead Horse, I think I bought you a couple minutes of peace with that. Sorry I couldn't do more.)
  5. Thank you @Dyna Mole That is the clearest explanation of it I think we've seen. 🙂
  6. Yes but I have seen that 500m figure stated more than a few times. If the cutoff is an absolute at 400m then anything above 401m should be safe until the ceiling is reached at 1600m
  7. Please realize that the only reason my post was done that way was because if you corrected it, it has forum-cred as opposed to someone else saying it. That being said, I do wonder about how the altitudes actually apply here. My impression has been that the upper level is defined by the viewer reported height of 2000 meters and that is an absolute. But the security systems measure from where they are placed. So it sounds like that would be more of a case of the lower altitudes and defined as AGL (Above Ground Level) and high altitude is more like "Flight Levels" in RL where for example 18.000 ft is the same no matter the height of the terrain below you. For example: You are flying over water at 420m altitude as reported by your viewer. As you turn inland, you fly over a security system placed at the water's edge - It will ignore you. As you continue inland and the terrain rises to 50 meters, would you get warned/ejected (if you stayed) when over a security system placed at ground level (50m), while you are still at a viewer reported 420m altitude? Or does the security system cut off at 400m (absolute) ? I know this would be easy to test, but I don't know of anybody offhand that is using the system or has a home on ground that is high enough to really play with it. Maybe someone else has already tried this and can answer
  8. OK, wait a sec.... Above sea level? That's 20m according to our viewers. Granted, a 20 meter difference in the big scheme of things isn't much, but... Drama happens
  9. With the old system using banlines, you would have been fine at 150m but the new parameters allow up to 400m. The one with a 5 second delay was not within the rules because 15 seconds is the minimum. As for the more possibly legal one, you were fine anyway since you were apparently just flying along and would clear any parcel in well under 15 seconds if you were moving faster than a walk.
  10. They could even do it by making 1 texture and using that, maybe two because 'dead end' and 'no outlet' are not the same thing, but they both have the same effect if you are actually trying to get somewhere. Just 'paint' a marking on the road where it splits off a thoroughfare. The explorers will still use those roads to see what's there, the travelers will have less frustration and less unnecessary data download. People are used to teleporting, right now there's something new, so they are using conventional transportation. But they will tire of that soon, because who will want to continue to navigate a maze with frequent stops to consult the map, and spend an hour or more traveling a couple km when they can simply teleport there in under a second? As the continent grows we will see the roads being used for transportation less and less, starting with the people who already struggle to load data. They're simply not going to be able to do it. The roads are pretty, but the only way to actually get somewhere is by flying or teleporting, and as the area grows in size, this will become more and more true. The roads will be for meandering exploring only.
  11. Better road layouts. The way it is in many places it feels like you are in a maze. You have to turn way too often to get from point A to point B, and all the dead ends being unmarked makes that frustrating at times. The layout also probably causes more server load than it needs to... You are heading North, so you are downloading the data for what is in your path, then you have to turn East, now all that Northbound data is not needed any more and you start loading the Eastbound data, but about 4 houses later, you turn again. It is probably pretty tough on someone with a slower connection. Twisty-turny subdivisions are cool, but there should also be a more direct route, especially as this continent grows and the distance people want to travel get longer.
  12. There is one in Moretti that has a 10 second timer, TP home. The orb is in a skybox at 2000 meters, and coverage runs all the way to the ground, no idea how far up
  13. I love the look of the porch and the shutters and the porch roof & supports saved me some LI (It's 2 LI) so that is a bonus!
  14. How about something simple like a *complete* texture pack, including ground and roof textures
  15. If I had a houseboat I would not want a helicopter perched on top, I'd have a seaplane / float plane though
  16. I keep meaning to get by there and raid, ermmm... have a closer look at that little garden on the upper deck. Let me know when you won't be home, ok? 😉
  17. Some minor adjustments to the front of the house, only waiting on one more thing to get released so I can snap it up and call this place done! So I guess a few days after that I'll be starting over?
  18. This is a massive project. Before launch at the Expo, Patch Linden told someone that by the time it's all said and done this could approach 4,000 regions. A limited roll-out in the beginning is just a common sense thing, it's a lot easier to put out fires and make corrections on 100 regions than on 4000. I think the only thing this thread is missing has been demands for resignations. I'm sure that will come too, unless it has and I missed it.
  19. Many also do not realize that $72 a year is $6 a month but you get 300L per week, over the course of a year that works out to around 15.600L. If like most people you buy your L$ the Premium account has almost paid for itself already. All but around $1 a month, anyway. Then you donate the tier, gaining a 10% bonus in the process. It's very worthwhile for many people. Those 10 hypothetical Premium accounts have 11,264 sq, meters of land, with a weekly income of 3,000L for (in the long run) about 10-12 USD a month.
  20. I like how that came out. I had thought of doing that myself, just flipping the add-on around, so the bathroom was at the back and the back door was off the dining room, but I'm not sure about the small bedroom vs the things I want to use in there
  21. Yes, enforced or coerced community participation has been practiced for years in assisted living and mental health facilities. What's next? Assigned friends? Maybe it is intentional, exactly as you suggest.
  22. Well, I am referring specifically to the condescending judgmental statements that are quite evident in these, and really any forums regardless of where they are. The argument is always between two vocal minorities when compared to the community as a whole. In the Second Life "community", those who participate in these forums are definitely a minority. The majority either don't know the forums exist, or don't care - they prefer to use their available time to enjoy SL, not bicker about it in the forums. By choice or by circumstance, they remain blissfully ignorant of the goings on here. When it comes to SL ( as it relates to the forums ) the majority is silent.
  23. I used the Adams house with add-ons from Blush for the interior as well as her pergola
