  1. I thought about suggesting Lesbian clubs but I'm going on the premise that Seph might like to dress hot and flirt with men. Dressing hot and flirting in a Lesbian club is likely going to have people assuming she's a Lesbian or interested in exploring that, not a bad thing but if she's not interested in that, it might send mixed messages.
  2. Nope, some (the adult rated sex sort of clubs) are funny about female avatars, but as for the rest - some of the best hosts/club managers and owners of gay venues in SL are women. Gay men and Lesbians really don't have all that much in common culturally, from what I've seen. Though that's my personal observation, I'm sure others will feel free to chime in on that. Descrimination and their struggle for human rights pulls them together politically. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLJulFeAFyk For that matter, think about some of the biggest (albeit stereotypical) music icons people assoicate with gay men ... Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minelli, Julie Andrews, Eartha Kitt, Nina Simone, Bette Midler, Cher, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, Grace Jones, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, Katy Perry, Pink, Lady Gaga ... all women. I have gay friends in SL and RL who jokingly say uh oh, do they have to turn in their gay ID card if they don't like Cher or Madonna? See about joining GayMeetingPoint group, or Gay Events Gridwide. Feel free to IM me inworld for recommendations of specific clubs and DJs.
  3. If you like to dress sexy and flirt and have fun, you might consider gay venues. There are a few adult nude venues that don't allow female avatars but not many. If you like the club scene, there's a ton of gay clubs, all sorts of different music. You get to know the guys who like flirting with women, and flirting with them is fun, you can pull out all the stops without worrying about a guy pulling out his junk and wanting to bounce your pixels. You can also dress up or down, slutty works well in a lot of gay clubs and no one is going to think you're doing it because you're asking for sex. Most of the people on my friends list are gay, or straight female friends. It's almost 4 years since I bumped pixels and I am having a lot more fun ad there is 0 drama.
  4. I much prefer boxes. As for boxes containing what are considered extraneous items such as pose stands, LMs, notecards, etc. I get those in folders from the marketplace as well as in boxes. Boxes keep my inventory from getting overrun, since I can unbox them when I want and that creates a folder. I can also keep a back up box in storage, so an outfit with over a dozen parts is just one thing in my inventory and one thing in my inventory storage until I choose to unbox it. Items that come in folders, unless they are absolute favorites I wear daily, I will box up to unclutter my inventory. However, for what you sell, Rya ... anyone who sells landscape items, home decor, boats, houses, other buildings ... folders don't make much sense. I mean, the purpose of folders is so that someone doesn't have to be bothered with finding a place to rez a box and unpack it in order to access the contents. But if you are going to put up a house or set down a tree, you'd have to be somewhere you can rez regardless. So until it becomes fashion to wear rez faux boxes as jewelry and trees on top of our heads, I'd say go with boxes for nonwearable items. --||-
  5. Re: places to take newbies ... I try to take them places that have nice freebies for group members, like Gizza, BlakOpal,SF Design, and Ikon. i don't know much about skin and hair and clothes because I ask friends who make those things to help out with it. There used to be a HUD, I haven't used it in a while, but its a lucky chair finder, thats a fun way to shop on a budget, and the marketplace still has a lot of good freebies, once you sift through the demos.
  6. You know, they really really do like the retro look! And it seems the older some people are, the more fond they are of retro skin and hair and eyes ... I don't know whether their sense of what looks good in SL stopped somewhere around 2005 or whether they never turn up their graphics. However, there is something charming about some places that are firmly entrenched in the past, i don't know, sort of innocent and sweet (and usually primmy as anything).
  7. Did you check your transaction history? If there are no transactions, it sounds like a glitch. When that happens to me, I either send someone a L or ask them to send me one to get my balance to reload properly.
  8. In the TOS, LL makes it very clear that they are not responsible for lost inventory items. That's why it is recommended to always check the grid status page to see what maintenance is scheduled and not to rez no copy items during rolling restarts. Even if LL would restore the items, after more than a year, they cannot, the items are gone.
  9. If you're in a group that has land that shows in search, which is a fee of 30L per week, that 30L will be split among group members. I'm in a group that has 4 parcels that show in search. That 120L is divided up among group members, even though most of us don't own any land.
  10. This entire thread and the side discussions reminds me of arguing rules with a teenager. They're very fond of stating rules and saying "TECHNICALLY that's not stated in the rules so really I should be able to do this or that" and then are full of indignant outrage when they're called on behavior not clearly stated in the rules they technically aren't breaking. As for a child avatar trussed up in bondage without witnessing any actual virtual sexual activity ... if a woman's husband comes home late, reeking of some other woman's perfume and with lipstick smears on his underwear, the woman doesn't need to see the old in and out so to speak without a fairly good idea that someone other than her has been having sex with her husband, unless you define sexual relations in a very Clintonesque fashion, which is itself splitting hairs.
  11. OK, that's good to know! This is the impression I've gotten when out furniture shopping, and I do alot of shopping for furniture. I have noticed pg and x rated versions of the same beds which is a good alternative. Though really, it's just decor for me, I haven't used a bed in SL for quite some time, a bedroom just looks nice with a bed in it. I think there are far more people in SL not interested in sexual activity than is the perception others have about SL (raising my hand here).
  12. It's that fully clothed part Drake ... you know those jeans that let a guy drop his pants to mid thigh ... i know, I don't really consider that fully clothed but I've seen some people who take offense when told they aren't fully clothed with their stuff hanging out.
  13. I read the age play policy and thought it was crystal clear. Then I read it again and it wasn't so clear ... Promoting or catering to such behavior or representations violates our Community Standards. For instance, the placement of avatars appearing to represent minors in proximity to "sex beds" or other sexualized graphics, objects, or scripts would violate our Community Standards, as would the placement of sexualized "pose balls" or other content in areas depicting playgrounds or children's spaces. The part I underlined is the part that seems open to some interpretation. "other sexualized graphics, objects or scripts" ... most beds have sex animations, as another person started a thread elsewhere complained about. I too have run into difficulty finding a PG bathroom (finally did after a long search). So what is a sex bed? If a bed has sex animations but isn't used for sex, if there are no sexualized graphics or objects or scripts running, is it a sex bed? Not trying to be argumentative here, it just struck me as interesting that something I thought to be crystal clear can be interpreted differently. It reminds me a bit of the signs you can see in furniture stores saying that to try out the furniture, people have to be fully clothed. As if it's not sex with one's clothes on.
  14. That does seem frustrating. I have noticed that several of those groups use slightly veiled language and imagery in their logos that meets the letter of the law so to speak, even though it is obvious that it's a group for sexual age players. If they changed the wording and logo so it isn't blatant, whether repugnant or not, it doesn't seem to be against the rules.
  15. Hi Cerise, I have a question, when you all say "it might be allowed" and refer to rules for ML, allowed by whom? Are you talking about community standards? Or are you talking about full regions owned by someone who sets the rules? I don't quite understand, when I've owned (some large and some small) ML parcels, there's never been a covenant.
  16. Regarding deleting someone else's items ... if your items are deleted by another person, they are sent to your lost and found folder, they are not really deleted.
  17. I looked at the survey but didn't fill it out. I didn't get the sense that the OP thinks SL is here to re-create first life though. In exploring virtual identities, it seems a natural question to ask; How much is your virtual self like your RL self? However, the reason I didn't fill it out was because I didn't think the questions were worded in a way that was particularly clear. Questions along the lines of whether one's avatar is a representation of oneself ... well, how about defining self, for one thing? Because without a definition of it, it seems the only answer that makes much sense would be yes.
  18. If you're stuck in away mode regardless of viewers, and sims you go to, that's very weird and you should definitely file a ticket with LL It sort of reminds me of being ghosted or stuck between sims in limbo. You've tried to set your away time out to never, I suppose?
  19. While on the beta grid, can you save the textures you have to your hard drive, and then upload them as needed when you're logged in normally? If you upload a texture, it goes to your lost and found also? I'm just thinking that until this is fixed, at least you'd have use of some textures, even if t hey are in lost and found.
  20. Marigold, the easiest way to create an outfit for a topless Tuesday party is to get dressed and then, you know, just take off your top :matte-motes-wink-tongue:
  21. Wow, we actually responded to you in a helpful fashion by pointing out that you present yourself as very standoffish. No one is suggesting you pretend to be happy just to have friends; we were suggesting you might want to make yourself more approachable and less belligerent so that people would want to be friends with you, and put more information about yourself in your profile so that anyone reading it might find something to relate to. Offering advice in an effort to help you out is stuck up? What would not be stuck up? “Hi, I know nothing about you except that you have a chip on your shoulder and seem to feel you’ve been betrayed in the past, and you don’t really seem to want friends because you ask people to leave you alone unless they know the meaning of a very subjective phrase which you don’t define. But sure, let’s be friends. If I don’t live up to your standards (which you never did define) go ahead and verbally abuse me and treat me like garbage, that always makes me want to hang out with someone.”
  22. I was going to write a longer reply but Amethyst put it perfectly. I will add that "true friendship" means very different things to different people, so were I you, I would emphasize explaining that more when fleshing out your profile. There is nothing at all in your profile to indicate that you have any interest in making friends, actually.
  23. They can be linked as described by Rolig but they will not become a single prim object, it will be an object made up of multiple prims.
  24. No. A good perv cammer can cam from quite some distance. Unless the house is on an island sim with no neighbors and no surrounding sims for at least two grid squares on each side, anyone with the skill and patience (and lack of another hobby) can perv cam into your house. Setting the parcel in about land so that others cannot see or interact with anyone on your parcel of land only stops them from seeing the avatars who are on the parcel. It doesn't stop them from perv camming into your house. If it's that you don't want anyone perv camming and watching you and someone else doing something freaky, that would work. if you want to build or design something and don't want anyone to see it, for instance, no that about land feature won't do the trick. Also, even if you set the land so no one can see those on the parcel, you will still show up on the map, and most radar features will tell others what you are doing. So even if you can't be seen, if you and someone else are being intimate and on pose balls, someone can still see your distance from the other person and whether you're both sitting down. if I see two people on my radar the exact same distance from me, both seated, I figure they're either dancing or fooling around. Best you can do is make it harder for someone to do it or too boring to do it, or just accept the idea that there is really no genuine privacy in SL unless you own your own island region and take rather extensive security measures.
  25. When items are auto returned, they tend to return to you in clumps, and will show up in your lost and found as a pile of little boxes rather than the single box that indicates one linked object. Whatever prim was grabbed up last will be the root prim to that group of lumped together items and may not be named anything you recognize as your decor ... such as the ever helpfully named "object". Have you checked your lost and found for that? Also, if you drag something like that out of your inventory, there is no telling where it will show up, the stuff could wind up all over the place and then you have to cam around or scan for items. However, SL has been very glitchy and there is the possibility that the items are gone. If the parcel on which your items were set is on a private island and not on mainland and your items truly are gone, you could request the land owner ask for a roll back of the sim to a previous time and date when your items were there and then you could go and collect your things.
