  1. "yet another ban" indicates that you get banned alot. Must be your sunny disposition, or maybe the fact that someone has to stop and think a good long while before decyphering your spelling.
  2. When a sim restarts, where ever you have your cats in the air is rezzing after the cats rez, so they fall. This can happen if they're in a house at ground level as well, if the house rezzes after the cats, the cats will be stuck under the house. One fix for this is to rez an invisable prim under the cats, a single prim will rez faster than the cats or a structure usually. This will "catch" them to keep them from falling. Just in case they do fall, where ever they've been landing, it's best to keep some extra food there. A friend of mine always kept extra cat food under his house to prevent them from starving before he could collect the stray cats before he happened on the invisible prim underneath them fix.
  3. Most viewers have an option to derender temporarily, which is handy if you're taking a picture and someone is in the shot. Easier to derender than edit the avatar out later.
  4. Actually my tier is 40 USD a month (not sure why I mentioned the minimum of $25), and I like to have the USD balance in my account so it comes out of that, as my bank gets a bit funny with online purchases and has been known to freeze my account for "suspicious activity" and I usually don't find out about it until I'm at the checkout line at the grocery store, trying to use my card on a Saturday night, and then I have to wait until Monday morning to get my bank account unstuck. This isn't the first bank that's "protected" me so inconveniently. This way, I can check with my bank at my convenience to make sure they haven't put any sort of hold on my account.
  5. I'm not a merchant or content creator, but it would make little sense for merchants to want to decrease the methods by which customers can purchase Lindens in order to shop in SL. As for your statement regarding paypal, yes, not all paypal features are available in all of the 193 countries listed as accepting paypal. However, the example you gave indicates that it may be pricier to use but not impossible. Of more than 2 dozen Europeans I have talked to inworld, none ever used TPE, none ever had an issue with using Lindex, and quite a few had never heard of TPE. I suspect, for many, it's more a matter of not wanting to use Lindex, not that they can't use it. On the forums we hear more about the latter than the former because people come to the forums to complain.
  6. I used to be able to increase my credit in order to keep a USD balance on hand. Billed in 25 dollar increments to my credit card, it was a handy way to budget and simple. As part of the ongoing process of updating Lindex, that option is no longer available. When I tried to do that, this is the message I got ... "If you came here to add credit to your account in order to place a limit buy, you no longer need to add credit to your account to complete the purchase. We have streamlined the order process so you can now go directly to the Buy L$ page and place your order there. You will be redirected to the cashier to make payment once you place your order." I called the billing department, they said that's right, I have to purchase Lindens and then sell them to increase my USD credit balance. THIS is streamlining? Instead of plugging in the exact amount of USD I want to add, I have to look at the rate of exchange, do the math, figure out the L equivalent, purchase them, THEN sell them.
  7. I'm sorry to hear about your break up. unfortunately, you willingly gave your ex partner the item. if your ex is not willing to return it, I would suggest contacting Carrie Tatsu, the owner of Zooby, and see if she will send you another. Just be polite when you explain the situation and make the request.
  8. when estate manager rights are revoked, a manager receives a notice it was done.
  9. Hi, a photographer friend of mine is looking for either static poses or dance animations of fandangos, flamenco, and tarantella dances. If anyone here makes any of those, or knows anyone who does, I'd appreciate some info, thanks!
  10. There seems to be some sort of glitch in recent weeks with alpha layers for feet. Why it's just those alpha layers, I don't know, I do know that I put on alphas for several different body parts and feet were the only one with problems. The alpha mask doesn't show up and the avatar's feet show through. I and a few other people I know who wear mesh feet were having this problem. Removing all clothing layers, clearing cache and relogging helped.
  11. This reminds me of how I used to get IMs from people when I was out and about "OMG you have this HUGE bald spot" which, as it turned out, looked that way to them because they were running their graphics at a lower setting than I was running mine. In general, unless someone's shoes are up his or her butt (yes! that old glitch is back recently) I don't say a thing. I remember when most viewers didn't have the ability to attach multiple items to the same point and people using Emerald viewer would be walking around with jewelry or who knows what hanging in the air in front of them, totally oblivious to how odd they looked to many. The first time I saw that and mentioned it, the rude reply I received was that it was my problem and why don't I use Emerald? It really wasn't my problem, I just thought well, this person is walking around thinking he looks SOOOO cool and about half the people he encounters see him as someone REALLY inept at editing prim attachments LOL.

  13. I would have thought this as well but that the OP stated "periodically we are finding all of the estate managers are being placed upon the land ban list" ... were it not that SL has been so out of sorts, I'd play around with that and see if I can ban myself from the estate I manage, but the last time we were experimenting with one of the sim owner's alts, even though we removed the name from the ban list, he remained banned from the sims. Regardless, I also didn't think it was possible to ban Lindens. Banning oneself from an estate seems a bit extreme for a nasty prank.
  14. I agree with you Phil, I was just thinking of the short term until LL gets a handle on this and stops it. I have never heard of this sort of griefing before.
  15. Maybe do away with the rosy cheeks and lipstick, and use tattoo layer make up instead? As for buying a skin ... if you love your ugly, nerdy girl you made, don't let anyone talk you round to changing and purchasing a skin. Your world, your imagination.
  16. Can the sim be closed to the public? Maybe set it so to get there, passes need to be sold, make the price high, refund the legit RPers and visitors their money? Maybe have the sim closed except for the access list? Cull the land group of anyone not trusted absolutely? Just some thoughts, I'm sorry you're going through this headache!
  17. Dani86 Aldrin wrote: Hi, I became a victim to someone (whose name I won't bring up here) who harassed me and repeatedly nagged me by offering me a job as a prostitute to earn lindens. I ultimately rejected, and told her in her face that I was reporting her. She threatened to me that if I say anything to her, she would report me to Linden Labs. I did not do anything wrong at all. I am an innocent person, and I fear for my future in SL because of this person. Needless to say, I blocked her pronto, as well as her so-called friend. I also didn't say anything else to her, and filed an abuse report, but what I ask is, how long does it take for the folks at Linden Labs to process my report? Just to let you folks know that people need to respect others, regardless of how they look. If they look different, that's no reason to bully or harass or intimidate that person. Golden rule: If you hate the person because of how they appear or how they act, don't take it out on them. Being respectful to others is as easy as replacing hateful messages with a simple word like "Hi" or "hello". I seriously cannot wait for cyberbullying laws to come into effect globally someday. According to the community standards, "Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Harassment can include text or images that contain racist, threatening, abusive or hateful material." Nagging someone to be a prostitute is obnoxious, but does it constitute harassment? Someone was nagging you and being a pest and you threatened to report her for it. She, in turn, threatened to file an abuse report against you ... for it seems, filing a false abuse report against her. From what you describe, you threatened her. Some might consider that to be doing something wrong. Nagging and badgering is not harassment, and does not constitute bullying. Threatening retaliation against someone who threatens you first is not bullying. Nagging and petty quarrels in SL is no where near close to cyberbullying, and while it sounds as if your experience has been unpleasant, I can't imagine LL taking action against a SL resident for nagging another. SL offers muting and banning as a solution for this. I have to concur with Dresden and add that I hope I never come to see the day when nagging is considered a crime, or I'd be out of a job in SL and RL, parents would be in prison, leaving their children to revert to some unpleasant Lord Of The Flies state of being, and most school teachers and managers would be joining the parents.
  18. Generally speaking, people do not like rules, and here where the motto is "Your world, your imagination" rules that dictate how that imagination should be used (particularly) for creative endeavors are especially loathed. Flogging a muse is just going to make her surly. I don't think anyone took it as a personal attack, maybe as an attack on one of the basic tenets of SL.
  19. The correct about land and region settings will stop most griefers. Security at events should stop the rest. That is not LL's job, it's the job of land owners and estate managers.
  20. In general, groups in SL are used to promote events, products, or shops. Some groups are very active in regard to group chat and being friendly, others are strictly for promotion. Some LOVE chatty groups, others can't stand them, others tolerate it. Visual and performing artists, DJs, designers, and venues often have an active fan base but the majority of groups, whether "creative" or not are used for promotion, and have enough rules without someone insisting members be creative or else.
  21. Aside from men playing Lesbians, and women who say they are Lesbians to avoid being hit on, there are straight women who happen to be Lesbians in SL. Would they ever pursue a Lesbian relationship in RL? Doubtful, many I have met are happily heterosexually married in RL, but SL is a place that can be used as an alternative to RL, and for some, that means straight men who are gay in SL, and straight women who are Lesbians in SL.
  22. It's really unfortunate that this happened. The only positive side to it is that you were given notice to collect your belongings by the new sim owner, rather than just having everything returned in one lump. That is actually really nice of them, many new owners just auto return everything. Since the original agreement with your landlord has nothing to do with the new owners, it makes sense that they would not honor it, as they're not under any obligation to do so. Even though it may feel they're being unfair to you, all the blame should be placed at the virtual feet of the person to whom you were paying the rent. Have you tried to contact your former landlord and asked him for a refund? Was there a covenant on the land? I know at the estate I manage, the covenant clearly states that no refunds are given on rent, though more often than not, we do give refunds. If there was a covenant that stated there would be no refunds given, there's not much you can do. Even if that isn't the case, LL stays clear of resident to resident disputes. Unfortunately, it looks like your rent money is gone and there's really no way you're likely to get it back, unless your former landlord does the right thing.
  23. My first year or so in SL, I had decided I was going to live SL as opposite from RL as I could while still having fun. If I was seeing a guy, I made it clear that it wasn't monogamous, and if he insisted on some sort of exclusivity, I would make an alt and say ok, THAT is for you, your own personal version of me. Several guys couldn't handle that and would get very jealous. As far as I was concerned, if I tell someone flat out from the beginning NO, not into monogamy here, and he chose to be with me regardless, all the jealousy and bs that went along with it was for the birds. I've known people who have a dozen alts and their partners have the same amount and they pair them all up and partner them, which to me, defeats the purpose of having an alt for personal relationships rather than building or business. However, they liked it, their SL, they were happy with it. I never had any secret alts, I never snuck around on an alt.
  24. If you have never been to one of Rylan Sirnah's sets, you are in for a treat ... not only does he have a wonderful voice, loads of charisma, a wicked, flirty, dirty sense of humor and a hot avatar to ogle, he has a vast music library. Others have tried to stump him with requests, it's never been done. He plays an eclectic mix of dance, club, 80s, jazz, big band, and whatever strikes his or your fancy. No bribes of big mega sploders, no nagging for tips (there is a random raffle though) just a 2 hour fun frolic beneath the waves at cozy Poseidon Reef ... watch out for the clown fish, they like to nibble. Clothing optional, adult avatars only please. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cabria%20Lagoon/127/70/8
  25. If someone cancels her account or it is suspended, afterward when it is restored, the profile isn't. It seems to be a glitch, but the program treats the name as if the person hasn't come back, sometimes for a short period of time, sometimes for months, until it rights itself. Now, if you never see your friend online and she hasn't logged in for a long time, she could well be gone from SL.
