  1. It would be nice if LL would update the Lindex to support the use of prepaid cards and bank transfers. That being said, my impression is that the number of people who cannot use Lindex is far smaller than the number who do not want to use it. For the small number who absolutely cannot use Lindex, I do hope LL comes up with a way to make it work for them. I have seen people complaining about the fact that Lindex deals in USD rather than Euros or other currency, so they don't know how much they're actually withdrawing in RL currency. Currency converting websites abound, it is easy enough to figure that out. Do the TPE charge VAT? I can understand wanting to avoid additional taxes if buying and selling L is something someone does quite often. Much of what I have read from those who use TPE is that they do not want a verified PayPal account because they do not want it linked to their bank account, nor do they want credit card information on file with LL. I don't know about bank fees in other countries. When I wanted to get my paypal account verified, I opened a free checking account with a miminum deposit and used that checking account for verification. However, having a savings account not linked to one's checking account is also another option. Applying for one of the PayPal credit cards is another way to be verified. PayPal is available in scores of countries. https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-approved-signup-countries-outside . Regarding the long time pending the transfer of funds for which PayPal is well known, If you have a PayPal credit card, pending money in the account can be transferred to the credit card immediately without the long wait. As for the other option of using a credit card and linking it to an SL account ... do banks in other countries have VISA and MC ATM cards that can be used as either a debit card or credit card? While bank transfers don't work with Lindex, those credit cards do. Once again, depending on where someone is in RL, there may be the option of opening a free checking account or keeping limited funds in an account for use in SL. There are ways of limiting risk in case of accounts being hacked ... security seems to be the major issue with those who don't want to use PayPal or a credit card. If SL is important enough to get worked up over changes in the TOS, is it important enough to figure out a way to use Lindex? As with any changes in the TOS that are swiftly followed by strident complaints, I believe the number of people who are genuinely affected adversely (meaning there is absolutely no way at all for them to purchase or sell Lindens now) to be smaller than the initial uproar suggests. Inconvenient yes. A bother? Yes. Ruining someone's SL? For the majority of those using TPE who can use Lindex but choose not to use it, allowing this to ruin their SL is their choice.
  2. WHOA didn't take long for the topic to get derailed, did it? :matte-motes-sarcasm:
  3. HECK NO keep trying, older but still nice hair is 35L and newer, meshy hair is 75 ... keep hitting that TP button LOL
  4. There is a huge sale going on to make way for new styles. I had thought the sale was going on until tomorrow, maybe it ended early and they closed down for a little while to tidy up after the hordes. But yes, the sim has been full to bursting with people since the sale was announced a couple of weeks ago. I'd keep trying or go at say, midnight SLT, but really, it's a matter of just trying over and over, just like any sim that's full, wait for some hair glutton to purchase her fill and leave.
  5. I've seen those debates in the forums for years back and forth, every time something changes, everytime there's a new TOS rolled out ... WATCH THE MASS EXODUS OCCUR, step aside or be trampled. That's why I was wondering if there were some hard numbers rather than guesses and estimates.
  6. For a combat RP sim? Snow, think how well the blood will show up against the white background.
  7. Every now and again in the forums, there's talk of the dwindling SL population. People point to numbers logged in, new accounts created, number of sims closing down. They say, why I remember, a few years ago, whenever I logged into SL, there'd be 60,000 or more logged in, now that's down to 35,000, as if that is proof of a loss of population. Given alts and inactive accounts, is there really any way to have an accurate assessment of how many active users of SL there are? I read a blog post from about 9 months ago (sorry, can't remember exactly which blog) that stated that the population of regular users of SL has remained fairly constant at one million give or take since 2007 or so, despite people leaving in a huff over this or that, and that the lack of population growth is why many consider SL to be a failure despite income generated. People leave, new people arrive, people leave and come back, many leave and do not close their accounts because they want to come back at a later date. So, no extrapolations, no guesses, is there any solid information on a reasonably accurate number of users, rather than say, unique log ins or accounts created?
  8. If you can't find the transaction, you can always take the nails off and have her go into edit mode to see that she's the creator of the nails as well as the last owner.
  9. As I mentioned, I have never used ATMs here, but don't these exchanges have websites? When I purchase Lindens form Lindex, I log into my dashboard and do it from there, I don't need to be logged into SL to purchase Lindens.
  10. "It seems that with the change of the TOS, recently; LL's next move may be to restrict access to paying subscribers" Now THAT is a huge leap. Without a premium account, I purchased Lindens all the time on the Lindex. There are merchants in SL without premium accounts, they pay rent, they pay a percentage of their marketplace sales to LL. LL would lose far too many residentsif they restricted it to premium accounts. There are non premium members who spend hundreds or more USD worth of Lindens in SL every month. Why would LL cut off their nose to spite their face?
  11. I have never used any exchange but Lindex, as I don't ever cash out Lindens. From what I've read of the TOS and the myriad discussions here, those who run exchanges have to remove their inworld ATMs. I always thought such exchanges had websites as well as inworld ATMs. LL is making it clearer that they do not support such exchanges, so of course the inworld ATMs have to go, but what about the websites for the exchanges, can trading still go on there?
  12. No, the OP was imagining a future change to the TOS. Lindex has not changed.
  13. Not everyone has the funds to go out and get new computer components the moment they need replacing. If Yummy's video card wasn't working, so much for removing items from the marketplace. As for merchants being unavailable, there are plenty that have no presence in SL at all any more. The OP has come back and is setting his store to rights, that seems pretty responsible to me. Some merchants do have a presence in SL and don't respond to customers regardless, so how do you decide which merchants are trustworthy and which aren't?
  14. oh and in case you hadn't figured it out, dark blue is for top, and light blue is for bottom if it's not spelled out in hovering text.
  15. Hi Joseph. Pose balls will disappear when you sit on them, they are still there but they are transparent. To change poses, you click on the item (furniture or mat) the balls are for. That will bring up a menu of poses, and sub menus oftentimes. If you get off the pose ball, sometimes it will disappear, in which case you click the furniture or mat again to reactivate it.
  16. Well done rigged mesh clothing has limited usefulness. I think it's best for men's jackets and shirttails and the skirts on evening gowns, and that's about it as far as how useful it is when compared to clothing layers. Non rigged mesh shoes and boots are nice for the detail, but not amazingly, spectacularly better than the best sculpted shoes and boots available. When sculpties came out, everyone said OMG sound the death knell for regular prims. But just as regular prims and sculpts still have their place in building and design, non-mesh clothing will not go away. A great many people will not change their shape to wear mesh; they work to perfect their look, and do not want a clothing designer dictating their shapes to them. As a friend titled a blog post regarding mesh clothing, "your world, someone else's imagination." Please don't worry, your work isn't looking dated, keep doing what you do the best you can. Welcome back to Second Life!
  17. There are a few photographers who charge 3000L or more for their portrait work, and also have some pieces in art exhibits for usally 1,000 to 2000L. They also do advertising art. But even much sought after photograhers in SL don't quit their day jobs. A friend of mine uses funds he makes in SL to pay tier on his land and to pay for uploading textures and he's quite happy with that, less out of pocket RL spending in SL.
  18. You mean if you create a new account? A new account has an empty friends list, it will not be deleted, it will still be there, but on the original account. You would have to offer friendship to the friends currently on your list that you wish to remain in touch with.
  19. The creator of the mesh masks in question writes this ... "These models are free for commercial and non-commercial use - with a mention if possible." He has given his permission for people to use them.
  20. One way to get your inventory to reload is to clear cache, log out, and log in back at an empty water sim, such as Pooley. Wait a few moments and then open your inventory. Type a random letter in inventory search and do not move from the spot you're on, your inventory will reload, sometimes slowly. When the message stops reading "fetching" it is reloaded. Since this can take some time, you migh want to oh, walk the dog, do the laundry, or keep yourself otherwise occupied.
  21. Welcome to SL, JosephXavier! It sounds like you're using the official Linden Labs Second Life viewer. When you create an account, there are little pop up tutorials about enabling camera controls, and other basics the first time you log in. Those can be handy for helping to figure out the viewer and how to get around. As for trying on the different skins, you right click on them in your inventory and choose wear.
  22. That used to happen with a computer I used to play SL. It was my graphics card overheating.
  23. It sounds as if some places may not allow him for other reasons. Perhaps he is not old enough in SL, or perhaps they insist on payment information on file and he has none? It is not always about maturity ratings.
  24. Beltaine, Beltane, or May Day ... whatever you call it, however you spell it, the charismatic DJ Rylan Sirnah and his partner, Nikolai Warden are opening their very special Henge up for one of their rare events. Great music (mostly Celtic inspired folk, rock, and Irish punk but you never know with DJ Sirnah) spun by one of the few DJs in SL with genuine charisma, a beautifully decorated stone henge, HOT men and women scantily clad or bare ... come get your neo-Pagan Lite groove on with The Filidh at The Summerlands! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cabria%20Shores/90/162/2201
  25. My impression from the OP is that most of those dumping her like a hot potato are "friends with benefits" or why dump her because they won't be getting a piece of the cookie any more? While say, sending out a group announcement or posting it on adboards would be a bit much, I don't think letting her friends know she's not interesting in bumping pixels anymore constitutes a desire for drama, especially if those friends are used to sticking their hand in the cookie jar ... sort of a warning, get away from that, or the lid is going to smash your fingers.
