  1. Keeping Up Appearances. Gotta love Hyacinth Bucket!!!
  2. Tableau Vivant tend to be my go to's as there are many different styles.
  3. If you give me a beep inworld (same name as here on the boards) I can drop you a few picture tip notecards I have collected over time. From there I recommend setting up a Flickr account where you can display your pictures, join groups so you can share them with others etc. Blogging is a personal thing and you can have many different types. You can give fashion blogging a go (showing off looks and items you love), or maybe you are an SL explorer and can blog about your adventures in SL, or you can even do some X-rated blogs about more X-rated adventures and things. I'm usually standing around doing nothing a lot of the time I am logged in and have been blogging in SL since 2009, so don't mind giving some help there too.
  4. I am definitely checking out these recommendations. And was reminded to check if there is a new "In Death" book out yet. I do enjoy that series! Bigger books just have me reading more. I love a challenge
  5. So I read a lot, like A LOT...sometimes I get through two or three books a day. This means I chew through author's book lists and series like they are going out of style. So I'm going to ask and see if I can discover some new reading material. At the moment I am going through a UK mystery/thriller/police procedural phase and read through everything by authors such as Carol Wyer's Robyn Carter and Natalie Ward series, Angela Marsons' Kim Stone series, Cara Hunter's Adam Fawley series, and books by K.L. Slater. So anyone else I should check out?
  6. It's called jumping on the currently trending bandwagon, like for example, people changing their SL names to reflect the current hit movies etc. Are we over Harley Quinn yet?
  7. I like the Jomo Mermaid tail. I can't speak to how the AO looks as I use it for static pictures only...but its sooo pretty! https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/JOMO-Female-mermaid-tail-DEMO/6807119
  8. Adding for point 2....ask open ended questions, ie questions with more than a "yes/no" answer. And remember, there is nothing worse than receiving an IM that goes like this... Them : Hi. Me : Hello there. Them : How are you? Me : Fine thanks. How are you today? Them : Fine too. Me : Great to hear. *Crickets* Don't expect me to carry the conversation if you approached me first.
  9. Sorry I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm here now and shall speak for myself. My definition of "Karen" comes from the reddit-verse where it is used to describe women of a certain age with a certain hairstyle who believe themselves entitled to a certain way of life and that everything revolves around themselves and their "perfect angel crotch-goblins". They do not accept the word "no" and are known for asking to speak to the manager. I believe Karens come in all ages, sizes, colours and ethnicities, so I do not accept the definition of it being the N-word for white women. https://www.dictionary.com/e/slang/karen/ This is where I get my Karen information from. Now my reply about being called a troll and a Karen comes from two different threads, months apart. The troll comment had me shutting down the forums for several weeks as it (rather stupidly) did upset me when all I did was make a harmless and silly reply to a bit of a serious topic trying to bring a smile to a serious thread. It had taken me months to get the courage to start replying more than sporadically here as I was feeling lonely and was trying to reach out and maybe make some friends. Instead I retreated back into my shell and shutdown the forums for a bit. The Karen meme may not have been aimed specifically at me, but as I was one of the only ones taking the opposing viewpoint on a certain touchy topic, I took it as such and was highly offended by it for several reason. The first being that it was the lowest form of debate - resorting to name calling when you cannot handle a differing opinion seems to be the way of the internet. Secondly poster of the meme does not know me, does not know what kind of person I am, so to call me that was offensive. I had a valid opinion. It may not have been a popular one, but as I said in my last post on that thread, maybe it would give other readers of the thread something to think about. I have not been back to that thread since my last post despite the huge numbers of notifications I received about it. I prefer to keep what little courage I have about posting here intact and not let bad responses get to me again. And yes, for the record I am an extremely nice person, rather opinionated and hell on wheels if you get on my bad side, but I don't go out of my way to be mean or abusive to someone just cos I have the safety of internet anonymity. I have learnt over the years to pick my fights, go for the mountains not the molehills, and that it is usually better to stay behind the walls and not let people in. It's okay to stand around on my skypad for hours and talk to no-one.
  10. I'm still gonna limit my time here, and think I shall stick to the fluffy, mindless and fun threads where I don't get called a "Karen" or troll for having a differing opinion. But I do agree, you do need adult supervision!!!!
  11. I'm a hoarder. I've hit 137,000 items and pretty much given up trying to downsize. What I do when I buy new items though is I unpack it, delete sizes (body types) I do not wear, and then I put the original unpacked item into a folder I have named "Boxed" and at the end of the month I box all the items in that folder up and then put it in a huge box where I keep everything...cos you never know when you might lose something or change body type or have boxed something you didn't think you would need at the time, but later do. And yes, I have all my original system layer clothing and skins all boxed up too.
  12. When that happens to me, I stalk their Marketplace store of Flickr to find the name and then area search the store.
  13. Oh I am not hostile in the slightest. I am just really sad that (now) almost 110,000 of your people have died from this virus, and as it was pointed out, the majority of them black people, and the only time their lives seem to matter is when it's trending or at the hands of your police force. If you are going to stand for black lives, then why aren't you outraged that so many have died, perhaps unnecessarily, in this pandemic for whatever reasons - vulnerable due to health reasons, being essential low income workers, no access to healthcare etc. Because according to some, racism is at fault here too. To only be outraged when a black man dies at the hands of the police force, the same police force you would call when someone is breaking into your home, just smacks of hypocrisy, virtue signalling and jumping on the bandwagon to get clout. And at least I am not posting silly memes calling you a "Karen". I have said all I want to on this topic, so will take myself elsewhere and stop reading replies. Maybe I have given you something to think about. Regardless, I wish you all a good evening and hope you stay safe at home, or at least remain socially distanced and protected with masks and sanitiser during your protests.
  14. The majority of New Zealand's population is of European descent (70 percent), with the indigenous Māori being the largest minority (16.5 percent), followed by Asians (15.3 percent), and non-Māori Pacific Islanders (9.0 percent). Demographics of New Zealand - Wikipedia As of July 2016, White Americans are the racial majority. African Americans are the largest racial minority, comprising an estimated 12.7% of the population. Hispanic and Latino Americans are the largest ethnic minority, comprising an estimated 17.8% of the population. Race and ethnicity in the United States - Wikipedia
  15. So are you standing for them? Viruses aren't racist. It isn't just seeking out the people of colour. 71% of our covid cases were people of European descent (white people).
  16. America (and the world) is in the middle of a fricken pandemic. Over 108,000 Americans have DIED from this virus. Elderly people, young people, vulnerable people - black, white, hispanic, asian, gay, straight... it doesn't discriminate. 108,000 lives that mattered!!! Over 1000 Americans died from it on June 2nd and there have been nearly 9,000 new American cases reported. (Figures found by googling US Corona stats) How many of them didn't need to die? How many would still be here if the need for a haircut wasn't more important than staying inside to prevent the spread of that virus? If the need to wear a mask didn't override the entitlement of people who thought themselves in the "it won't kill me" catagory? How many of them were infected by those entitled, selfish and thoughtless people and lost their lives as a result? It is disgusting that the so-called most developed country in the world doesn't give a hoot about their people and is letting stupid win. So how about standing up for the 108,000 people who have lost their lives, cos they matter too. Or is it not "trendy" and "virtue signally" enough? ALL lives matter.
  17. Kinda. RL - I am a tall, skinny blonde with blue eyes and small boobs. SL - I am tall and skinny, but have black hair and (at least for the moment) grey/hazel-ish eyes, still with small boobs though!
  18. You guessed it...it's standing around looking pretty time. Today's ponderings include...should I get off my butt and make myself a hot chocolate, what song should I use for my latest blog post, I really need to change my jeans, am I hungry, and damn, my last assignment only got a "pass"! UPDATE : In case anyone is wondering...I did make the hot choc and decided on a blog post song =D
  19. ^^^ THIS!!! ^^^ As for me...no I'm not because ... 1. I am not American or in America. 2. I'm not a bandwagon jumper. 3. I prefer politics and RL stuff to stay out of my SL. 4. I don't need the gratification of virtual signalling when I support causes. 5. I believe that people should BE the change they want to see in the world, not MEME the change.
  20. I SO relate to this. I think I have only remembered mine once in 12yrs...and that was THIS year!
  21. That it's a bit clearer where things should be posted? Obviously I mistook where to post for help cos I saw the word "answers" in the description.
  22. Thank you. I shall give this a go! But this never used to happen. Must be a new update thing 😃
