  1. try removing any high prim items you might be wearing...I have found a few pairs of shoes, a hair style, several jewelry items and a jacket have caused me past tp issues I have also found the new beta version of Phoenix to be more stable than the previous release
  2. Have you already tried filing a trouble ticket? or going to live chat if premium?
  3. This is a resident forum not a Linden Lab reporting area. I would copy your post here, and then delete it...might not be good idea to have your transactions posted publicly. Then file a trouble ticket, or if you are premium member you could go to live chat.
  4. When I first arrived I met many people by taking classes...you can find lots of free classes in events/education. Taking at least basic building classes would be valuable too. Even if you are never going to be a builder the skills you learn will allow you to later adjust your hair, jewelry, clothes so they fit well. Also new resident classes or general classes on inventory, profiles etc are often filled with other new avies who also want to meet people. Clubs, events are good places Some of the groups too are good, not shop groups which are mainly just for release notices but social groups, discusssion groups. There are also the roleplay groups/sims if you have an interest "Search" is your friend and you can find many things by just typing in your real life interests and seeing what comes up! Avoid sending random friend invites and don't feel bad if you start conversations in places like stores and people are not receptive...they just might be busy. Also, there are merchants here who do not play in SL it is wjust here they work. Good luck and welcome to Second Life!
  5. Try rebaking too...ctrl-alt-R
  6. Sometimes not clearing your cache causes things to hide. Try going to your edit preference/network push the clear cache button. Log out and then come back.
  7. I looked up the prim allocated to Linden homes and you have a total of 117 prims you can use for your home. Most things in SL are made up of prims. Each prim is shaped and then linked with other shaped prims to create an item...You can have a furniture that when combined can total no more than 117. You get the parcel is full message because you have either set out enough furniture to reach that allocation already or you are trying to place an item that is made with more prims than you have left. You need to know how many prims each item of furniture is. You can right click/edit on each piece of furniture and see the number of prims on the top right side of the edit window that pops up. You need to know how many prims you have left - you should be able to see this by going to About Land menu/Objects. Where you will see objects owned by you and the number of prims you have used You will need to either put out fewer objects or buy objects that are made with fewer prims
  8. Try clearing your cache. In my viewer this is located in preferences/network tab...you just push the clear cache button. Then log out. I usually reboot as well, then come back.
  9. The first step would be to contact the creator. Create a notecard, and "nicely" explain the situation. Copy the transaction from your account history and paste it on the card, include your name and the date. Send the creator a "nice" im and also pass them the notecard with all the detail. You might find it was a misunderstanding or a mistake and can be happily and easily resolved. If you receive no response within 48 hours or not satisfied with the response you do get: flag the item and you can try filing a ticket...have not heard of LL getting involved with resident disputes, but worth a try
  10. Venus answered about the game itself but if you are looking for free items check the Marketplace: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/ At some point the free items will not provide you the polished avatar you will want to have, but you can get a job in SL to earn lindens inworld without needing to buy them with RL money. The Forums have a Help Wanted section and inworld you can often find job listings in the classifieds. You can also enter contests to win free lindens...you will find these listed in Search then Events
  11. Business in SL is just like RL business. Pretty much all the same principles apply...and the time and energy required are also the same. As far as mentorship, most experienced merchants are busy running their own and between RL and SL there is little time to hold someone's hand. But, if you have a specific question you could post in the merchant forum; my own experience with posting is terrific and appropriate response. There are also paid inworld consultants who would walk you through the process..just make sure you understand fully the price associated and exactly what help they will provide. You can find these in search or the classifieds. You could also post in the help wanted/needed forum. If anyone offered help for free I would be very cautious...you usually get what you pay for, just like in RL
  12. I pay for premium membership and inworld business costs like rent, marketing, and items needed for our products but all are covered by profits generated inworld, so I guess we pay nothing. I used to spend more of my profits inworld but since LL borked search, business has been slower. To try and retain as much of my RL income from SL reduced personal spending to almost 0. Gave up my residential home land, so no more tier there and purchase nothing not business related. Even with business expenses we have cut down. Where we used to hire more staff, give bonuses that our staff could then go spend inworld and hire builders or scripters for the odd task, now we do ourselves or just do without.
  13. This might be of interest if you do not know it already...my favorite men's fashion blog: http://irregularguy.wordpress.com/
  14. Suggest not just an im to the creator but also a follow up notecard; on the notecard explain what happened, include your name and then paste a copy of the transaction from your history onto the note and pass to them along with aims. Im's cap and while most merchants have them sent to email not all do. This should ensure a smooth process and happy result
  15. You cannot stop them from taking pics but you can make it undesirable to do so; place a large watermark over the image.
  16. Unless you modded clothing items that are scripted with a return to default option any modifications you make to an item are permanent. While it will not help with these items in future you might want to copy the item, rename it and mod the copy.
  17. The way we receive items and notecards has changed with what am sure the Lab would call "viewer improvements" But I share your pain it is just so annoying now...not sure why they felt compelled to fix something that was not broken before. Someone who not has lived in-world much or ever, probably thought it was a great idea. So, as stated above, you need to look in recents, or know where it should have landed...like the folder it was removed from or objects
  18. Other have rightly told you to contact the merchant...best to send them im AND a notecard stating problem, your name and a copy of the transaction from your account history just copy and paste to the notecard as proof of purchase. For future purchases...my experience is that items bought as a single purchase usually are completed successfully but that buying multiple items with shopping cart often fail. As a merchant I try to watch for failed deliveries and resend. As a buyer, I typically search in the marketplace then buy inworld, if pushed for time and know the seller I will use marketplace but just buy 1 item at a time even if it takes a bit longer
  19. I can feel your pain first I just would hate to have last name of "resident" in general and then also at least today it shouts out "new player" that will change over time but short term I could see annoying to be labled Re display names..I don't use them personally and they made me crazy on my friends list for a bit..I dont know most people by what they choose to display. However, once I figured out how to only view old names it became a none issue.
  20. you wont reach anyone here who can help you this is a residents forum who need to contact the sim owner or manager. If you cannot reach them and you are premium account member you could try live chat and see if anyone there can help you
  21. I can seen scars, beauty marks, black eyes, cuts and bruises all on tats now...but not any wrinkles I would also love to see "dimple" shadows for cheeks and chins on a tat layer
  22. Vista as mentioned is good but in looking at pre-loaded AO seems the I always like about 50% of what the selection is and hate the other 50%. Your stance is so much a reflection of who you are that I like to load my own AO with individual poses. It does take a bit longer but it is unique to my taste and personality
  23. It might have to do with your viewer. You could try another one and see if better results. I use Phoenix which can be dlownloaded at http://www.phoenixviewer.com/ or for a list of SL approved viewers you can check http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_party_viewers#Third-party_Viewers Good Luck!
  24. Truth has already been mentioned and the textures and style there are wonderful for somthing more artistic/less classic check out Tukinowaguma too some fun styles
  25. I am loving Chop Zuey these days. I have several pieces from her but my favs are her Ed Hardy styled bracelets and can never go wrong at Shiny Things, Mandala, Bandit ooh and love the earrings at Shade Throne
