  1. They might have multiple avatars or one that can be any gender.
  2. Women over 40 can still have babies. My Mom had me when she was 42. (Most just prefer to have them when they're younger.) Men over 40 may have kids already too, so they might not be wanting more.
  3. I think they would look to see if we were actually picking on someone unfairly, but most of the time, we're not.
  4. Those ice cream cone pictures? Yeah, no. 😂
  5. Dog-years don't equate to human years in a straight correlation. The first year brings a wolf to what is socially equivalent to being a teenager among humans. For dogs (essentially domesticated wolves), the first year brings them to physical maturity, when they could get pregnant and have their first litter, which is also equivalent for a human teenager being able to get pregnant and have a child. Teenagers are physically mature, but not yet socially mature. After the first year in a dog's or wolf's life, then we could compare their expected lifespan to a human lifespan more directly, for instance 10 years for a dog vs. 80 years for a human. Avatar lifespan might be similar. Do we mature faster in the first year of our avatar's life? Do we go through a prime when we're more active, settle down in our middle years, and then become either wise or senile in our old age? If 1 year in SL is equivalent to 4 years in RL, then I'd be 52, which sounds about right. 😄
  6. If the majority of forum members were laughing at my posts, I'm sure I'd feel bad too. I might even ask for my thread to be deleted. Luckily, I don't think I've said anything yet to warrent such a response.
  7. I don't think we're allowed to discuss anything but "First World Problems" on this forum.
  8. Remember when the waterway between the Chalets and Newbrook didn't exist yet? The first few regions there didn't have water in them initially either.
  9. I disagree. Sometimes one just wants to change their name.
  10. So last names still so status, either for being a SL oldbie or having enough money to buy fake status. 😄
  11. Only oldbies know which are the really old last names or which ones came in at different times.
  12. Ah yes, gamifying of the forums is definitely what we need. Otherwise the forums will die. 😄
  13. A laugh emoji isn't intended to be a scorn laugh. It only seems so from context. Linden Lab isn't responsible for how we choose to use the communication tools we have at hand. We have only 4 reaction emojis built into the system. If we didn't have the laugh one, how would we laugh at people's jokes? On the other hand, we can always post one of the many emojis from text or add a picture or gif to express derision if we wanted to do so.
  14. Waking up at 2 am & spending 2 hours here on the forums with all these amusing and clever people, with all the feels.
  15. This is true even without autism. People are complicated, and trying to figure out what they really meant or feel is even harder without visual and tone clues.
  16. Peeve: When one person is forever attacking others and another is forever feeling like the victim, you know this isn't going to go well. The children's birthday party imagery was great though. Kudos on that! 🪅 🦇 (I couldn't find the right kind of bat emoji.)
  17. That's probably where the expression, "getting a little long in the tooth" comes from.
  18. Examples don't have to be about touchy RL issues. Can you find an example that relates to SL?
  19. Sometimes how a person expresses their ideas can change people's minds. They may bring up good points. On the other hand, if they repeatedly overreact or say ridiculous things, then even if their original idea seemed to have some merit, we might stop supporting it in a discussion.
  20. Here's another example of why I might leave a laugh emoji. It's called a call-back by comedians. I'm sure Theresa understands that I'm not leaving a scorn laugh, but others who don't follow this forum closely might not understand why I think this is funny.
