  1. Why in the world would a content creator give permission for an item that was (as far as digital goods can be) stolen from him, to be used anywhere by anyone? You asked for permission, you were told the items in question were stolen, told they no longer even exist in his inventory and told that he cannot help you. No runaround was given - at all. You don't have the original creator's permission. Instead of persisting in the question once his response was given, you could/should have asked if the response you got meant that he was washing his hands of the item. If he said it did - no matter how the response is phrased mind you - then, perhaps, your confusion/reaction would be understandable as washing one's hands of it would imply that while direct permission from the original creator was not given ... They do not care enough to do anything should the thief give explicit or implicit permission. You blew it on getting such a response so now all you have is a long worded, blanket No.
  2. Except he did answer you - a direct Yes or No was not the only means to answer, at all. The age of the item in question is irrelevant - someone managed to access his account, transferred several of them with full permissions to another account and went on from there to "resell" items they had no rights/permission to do so with. "The item you acquired with full permissions is not legitimate, it was among a set that were taken from my account after it was compromised. I cannot help you." That is a "No, here's why." Again, not hard - at all - to parse. You were indeed, given an answer - no matter how you choose to view it/slice it/skew it. That's a simple fact.
  3. You got your answer: The item no longer exists in his inventory because someone else managed to access his account and transfer over several items, with full permission. Meaning the Full Permission item you bought (second hand) is illegitimate, hence the apology. That isn't all that hard to parse.
  4. (The text below was in response to a user who decided to "Name and Shame" in this thread, the post has since been removed) And? There's a handy "policy" section on each Marketplace store frontpage - check it before buying anything from anyone. Not all stores offer a Demo on the Marketplace for every item they sell - not ideal but it is what it is. Likely the Demo was at their in world location. Naming and shaming isn't allowed in the official Linden Lab forum - no matter what your feelings are.
  5. Heh, no worries on that! Yep, I'm the - often - cactus-like fox.
  6. Heh, the loading/unloading thing is a holdover from the days of Windows XP. The current system I am on - a shared rig no less - is on Linux, X Ubuntu. 16GB DDR3 RAM, an I7-4096K and a Zotac branded nVidia GeForce 980 (AMP edition) I cannot remember if it's 2GB or 4GB of VRAM. And yes, that's me over on (what is now) VVO - I thought I'd listed my Second Life account on my profile there ... Meh!
  7. Understandable and yeah, more often than not the issue is on LL's end. More or less it's an early warning system sort of thing. If a teleport stalls for example, it's usually not my end. Sim loading/unloading certainly is though!
  8. Heh, I've kept them on out of habit as well as a way to tell when a teleport has stalled and to give the computer a moment to unload the prior sim a bit more.
  9. You've never seen the teleport progress screen before - in the entirety of your usage of Second Life, really? Until TPVs (last I recall) you couldn't disable them being shown.
  10. And there's the trifecta ... Tilt at windmills all you'd like, accuse those who don't agree with you of being in on it or "aggressive" or anything else that suits your fancy - it's not going to change anything and will eventually cause others to come to the same conclusion. Nothing at all has been "misunderstood" - you just don't like the answers/responses. As for me? I've said all I'm going to say on the topic - have a nice existence.
  11. See, unlike you I actually pay attention to what others post and do my own digging. The information regarding Estate Owners handling some Abuse Reports concerning their Estates is common enough knowledge. As is any and all information regarding Search. It is not new, it is not a revelation and it is not anywhere near as bad as you make it out to be - period. Again, you're not looking for anything more than blind agreement and "sympathy" - at all. Your responses make this abundantly clear as well. Have fun making a mountain out of a mole hill.
  12. I have the distinct feeling that this one doesn't care about pesky things like facts or reality and just wants to vent their spleen, railing against their particular perceived slights while seeking blind agreement - kind of similar to another user who recently created a thread on a topic that had been discussed to death prior, just because it was their pet cause.
  13. I've only run into problems gifting if I refresh the cart page - it forgets that gifted items are in it and defaults to purchasing for yourself. So step one? Don't refresh the cart page - only go to it once you're sure you're ready to go through the checkout process.
  14. Just pointing out an inaccuracy: Voice works on Linux, as long as a few libraries - some a bit older - are on your system. The problem is - unfortunately - that not all client developers use the same libraries or are even aware you need to use certain ones. This is compounded by needing to use the terminal to install a few of them (something I personally discovered after verifying most were installed through the Software Manager), something not many at all are comfortable doing. I know I'm not! If you're at all curious, see Firestorm's support pages for Linux and select the distribution closest to the one you use or know your developer used. It's been long enough that I do not remember which library I had to install through the console.
  15. Funny, I have landmarks I made several years ago that actually still work. Then again, the places they go to don't go changing their decor or pulling up and moving elsewhere on a whim either. Landmarks for a Private Island will update the actual grid positions/names if either actually changes so the Landmark can take you there. They may be useless to you but they're sure as heck not useless to everyone. Your suggested system would be lovely if offered as an alternative - not as a replacement.
  16. Oy .... Yeah, that's a busted algorithm ....
  17. Viewer cache has zip to do with the problem. As a few other users already noted/stated: It's a part of a System level asset, in particular the System level Hair - these days treated as a "base" for other things. You cannot remove it, only replace it with a different asset. Clearing cache without first having tried to swap to a different System Hair is pointless.
  18. Last time I checked - no. Worn objects are treated as part of your avatar, thus any attempt to pay the object would instead directly pay you.
  19. The beta is treated as a separate client program from the mainline but uses the same default cache locations. You should be able to go back to it for now, though you may have to flush the cache before making the attempt.
  20. That almost sounds like they used a learning algorithm so they wouldn't have to manually add in new entries. That or the ones that set up the lists don't work at the Lab anymore - either case would have the same result.
  21. It's called "speculation" for a reason. Fact of the matter is that we - the general user base - don't know. Who does? Linden Lab does and they're not about to tell anyone what the flagging triggers are.
  22. There is a reason why the first bit of advice to users on WiFi is don't use WiFi. Despite what others may try and claim, WiFi is not a truly viable solution outside of mobile devices. Doubly so if you've got several high bandwidth devices connected to the same antenna. If you insist on using WiFi, make certain you're connected to the 5G antenna (if you have one) and that you have as few other devices as possible connected at the same time. Phones and tablets won't be too much of a drain as long as they aren't constantly shuttling traffic. Do note that all of this only applies if your "crashes" pop up a message complaining that you've lost connection to the sim. Almost any other error is something else.
  23. That is part of the "clean install" process, raster .... Sadly, I can't offer much in the way of aid, you'll have to find a way to log in and poke their support group. Not meaning to sound like an arse here: There's a reason why I patiently waited for the full, proper release.
  24. I've used Absolut's Adam body for the few mesh humanoids (such as Hybrids, Sidhe and Dark Elves) I have as forms .... Though from the sound (and look) of it, I may be better off swapping out for Jake ...
