  1. 16x32 sqM lot, 175 LI allowance, in quiet surroundings. Only 900L. Perfect for a starter home for Plus members. (There are two side-by-side lots). The left one boarders a parcel with ban lines enabled, and is on sale for 900L. Location is http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ochreous/169/232/131 The lot has some nice objects that transfer ownership to you when you buy it - a one-room mesh cottage, a tree, a brick fence, and some basic landscaping (flowers & bushes). If you buy this lot, the objects rezzed on it become yours. (Be sure to take a copy into inventory). You can use them or you can remove them and use your own house and landscaping... up to you!
  2. There is a neighbor lot for 900L as well... but it is next to a property with ban lines.
  3. 16x32 sqM lot, 175 LI allowance, in quiet surroundings. Only 1000L. Perfect for a starter home for Plus members. (There are two side-by-side lots). The right one is on sale for 1000L. 4. Newbrook houses on sand look so out of place to me. Personally I prefer stilts on the beach and newbrook in more of a grassy or park-like setting.
  5. 32x32 sqM lot, 351 LI allowance, in quiet surroundings of abandoned land or neighbors with tall cliffs or dense tree barriers. only 2000L. History: I thought a friend wanted a certain parcel and bought it for her... but I misunderstood and she didnt. Instead of just reselling the 6144 lot, I decided to convert it to what I would have wanted for my first mainland home. There are now five 1024 lots and two 512 lots for sale. Each one makes a good starter mainland home for someone with plus or premium accounts. And they are inexpensive. Each lot has some nice objects that transfer ownership to you when you buy it - a one-room mesh cottage, a tree, a fence, and some basic landscaping (flowers & bushes). The 1024 lots have a brick fence and the 512 lots have a wroth iron fence. If you buy one of these lots, the objects rezzed on it become yours. (Be sure to take a copy into inventory). You can use them or you can remove them and use your own house and landscaping... up to you! Here are the urls to the 5 1024 lots: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ochreous/215/171/131 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ochreous/215/238/131 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ochreous/169/238/131 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ochreous/168/203/131 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ochreous/169/170/131 Here are a couple of pictures so you can see what I mean:
  6. I have that too. if the touch anywhere on the house I get knocking noise. I stopped wearing my headset cuz it was annoying. All that to say, you are not alone
  7. I misunderstood a friend and thought she wanted a 6144 Parcel but wasn't available to come online and buy it. So I bought it for her on an alt, planning to transfer it to her when she was able to get online. But it turns out she did not want that parcel. So now I need to sell it before the 1 month of tier I paid to get it expires. I figured the best way to do it might be to break it into smaller parcels since a lot of people want 1024 or 512 mainland parcels for their Premium or Plus accounts. So I turned it into five 1024 sqM parcels and two 512 sqM parcels. Then I decided that new landowners might want some basic house and landscaping for their parcel. So I made a 1 room cottage house, a fence and some light landscaping that will transfer on sale to the new owner. It is kinda a cute little neighborhood actually atm... with abandoned land on two sides so so it is a nice looking area. Now I need to get the word out that these for sale parcels come with a 1 room cottage and landscaping, and are less just under 2.0 L/sqM (e.g,. cheap). I am not the real estate agent type and I dont plan to become one. I dont know how to go about promoting these parcels in a reasonable way. I really need to sell these in the next 4 weeks.. what is the best way to go about letting potential buyers know that they are available and what features they have?

  9. I am going to "play" with numbers to show that for some of us (particularly those living in places where their currency is in US Dollars (USD)), that owning (paying tier directly to LL) can be cheaper than renting. Dont forget, it costs money to buy/sell lindens as well - this is how money changers make their profits (e.g, in RL as well as SL). If you buy lindens you get less Lindens per dollar than what you sell them for, plus there are fees going both directions. Lets say that one wants to buy 2500L on the Linden exchange ... which is the "hypothetical" $10 USD. By the time you add in fees, the cost is not $10 USD anymore, it is $11.74. That works out to getting only 213 Linden per US Dollar (instead of 250). Now when you go to sell 2500L on the linden exchange... estimated value is $9.89 but after fees estimated proceeds are $9.54. Basically you pay 11.75 for 2500L and then when you sell them back, you get $9.54 for them, or a loss of $2.20 USD -- and that is for only 2500L. The numbers change around a bit as the number of lindens change, but in all cases there are fees on all linden purchases. In the example of 6500L rent per week, which works out to 28167 L per month (6500*52/12), it would cost you $124.20 USD for 1 month's "rent." But if you own it, you pay directly to LL in USD and avoid those exchange rate and transaction fees. Now, if your account is not in US dollars, you have RL exchange rate fees as well. But if you are paying in USD, then 109 is much cheaper than 124.20. But if you live in the USA, then you have to add in state sales tax. So if you are paying $109 from a state with 10% sale tax, that comes to 119.90, which is still less than $124.20 .. proving that for some of us, it is a little cheaper to own than to rent.
  10. I guess I am a bit confused.. this is posted in a land forum and I am not sure I see how this is related to SL Land. I believe there is a general discussion forum that is not about land... and there is probably a social forum somewhere too. Might one of those be a better place for a thread like this?

  12. The covenant clearly states that these are not allowed and there was even a forum thread on it a while back.... so it is hard to believe the person was not aware of that rule. I am surprised that they did not at least put them in a skybox or something less obvious. Good for you for ARing them. All the same, Casper system is pretty efficient and low lag. I am not sure that removing those dropboxes will completely resolve the lag issue. It may be that another of your neighbors has a petplant farm or something up else illegally laggy in the sky. You might wan tot use the premium support chat to ask a linden to use About Region to run a performance analysis on the region and see if the dropboxes are the only thing causing the lag. I did that once and they found a couple of offenders, who they ARed.
  13. I actually upgraded to PP (on Dec 5) because I needed more groups. I must say that the free texture uploads have been nice too. I got a super lovely large mainland parcel about a month ago and co-own it with a friend. It is along a sail-able ocean in a beautiful scenic area. I am very taken by it and seriously doubt that a 2048 Linden home will appeal to me as much as my mainland. I was able to put 1024 of my PP Land Allowance towards that tier, which kept me from going up another tier price notch, and still get a new houseboat in Belli. There really are other reasons for Premium Plus in addition to the upcoming 2048 homes that everyone is looking forward to.
  14. Nika... I totally hear what you are saying about the new boats not fitting your existing parcel. I had the same problem. The way they are rotated hides the amazing view and showed off the neighbor's house instead. I use a Barnacle at that location because it faces the right direction and shows off the view perfectly. None of the new boats work well in that location either. So I ended up getting a new lot.. which I originally expected to be temporary, just for a month. But the Dock Holiday fits that location perfectly and the effect wow-ed me. So now I have to decide... do I give up my original houseboat that I love and keep just the new one, or do I pay an extra $99 USD to keep both for the next year? I imagine you may be facing a similar decision...
  15. FANTASY CHRISTMAS is a new article on Dec 21, 2022. This article takes a look at a fantasy home that has been decorated for Christmas in true Fairy style. https://lastditch.typepad.com/belli_parade_of_homes/
  16. I think this thread somehow got misdirected. I was talking about how great a job the moles did on the new houseboats. I made an aside at the end that it would be even better if we could rotate them 180 degrees. Somehow the focus got put on the rotation and not on how nice the new houseboat models are. That is what I had hoped this thread would focus on... because the moles really did do a good job on them.
  17. I really like all 4 models, and feel the moles did an excellent job on them. I wasn't planning to get/keep a houseboat, but when the announcement came out, I rushed to the land page (as did many others) to get it. I had to wait over well 24 hours to land a houseboat, but the one I landed on my first try was rather nice. My original intention was not to keep it very long, I just wanted to look at the new models and play with them a little. But when I got my parcel and rezzed the new models -- I fell in love with them. Only 1 of the models actually fit well in my parcel, with the windows at the right place for the parcel's view. But that is OK, I liked all 4 models so I would have been happy with any of them. These seem to be very nicely built and the layout is good and usable too. By the time I finished decorating it, I knew this boat was a keeper. I like it very much. I just have one suggestion/request. It would be nice if you could add a "rotate 180 degrees" feature to all of them, for better flexibility on placing them in the parcels for the best view.

  19. Is that a typo? I havent bought linden for a long time now because of owning a store, but I udnerstand the exchange rate to be in the neighborhood of $L 250 per each USD, which actually works out to a bit less when you add in the transaction fee. but 150L is substantially below 250L... to the point where I suspect it was a typo.
  20. Hopefully if they do this again in the future, they will make that information clear in the bidding area.
  21. I have never done any SL auctions before this one. I bid on the 12-month Premium Plus package from Linden Lab. My understanding was that the auction ended at 9:59 AM on Sunday December 11. As it happens, that is also my husband's RL birthday, and a club we belong two threw a party for him and two other members who all (amazingly) also had their birthday on Dec 11. The party started at 10 AM SLT and hubby wanted to leave for the party at 9:30 but agreed to wait until 10:05 when the auction was all over so I could see if I won and place any last minute bids. Then at 9:50 AM, someone made an announcement that the live auction would start at 10 AM SLT or so, and bidding would begin at the highest price from the silent (e.g. auction board) auction. Obviously I could not stay for the live auction because of the club's birthday party. When I got back online at 4 PM SLT, I went and looked at the auction board. It said I was the winner but I had not received any sort of notification. I decided to hold of paying until I could confirm this, as this auction was confusing. An official got back to me the next morning that I had been outbid at the live auction even though the silent auction board still said I was the "winner." Are all SL auctions like this? if so, why bother having the silent auction before the live one? it is really confusing to "win" only to find out that it is really not so, and that bidding is continuing in a different format.
  22. I bought my region many years ago, from another person, including a $100 USD region transfer fee. When we did this, LL told me that I had to be premium to own it. I got my first premium membership the day before I got my region.
  23. I have a Barnicle and I had the same problem about a month ago. I just positioned manually
