  1. Ooo I like this thread! I struggled with this, but basing it on what, at the moment, I would save from a burning building... Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult. It has been on every mix tape/CD I have ever made. Life Is Beautiful - Sixx AM. Makes me cry joyously...every time. Amoureuse - Kiki Dee. As beautiful today as it was back in the 70s. World In My Eyes - Depeche Mode, just because I love them. Experiment IV - Kate Bush. Great song and even better video. Driver's Seat - Sniff and the Tears. Best singalong backing vocal EVER! I could go on for miles, but right now, these rule.
  2. Oh, and I will never use a V3 viewer that looks similar to a V2 viewer as long as I can avoid it. The UI is frightful beyond words. I will cling desperately to Phoenix V1 setup for as long as I can because I love it. You listening LL?
  3. Sigh. Am I the only one a bit sad about mesh? Much as I love the realism, it just takes me another step further away from ever being a content creator. Dammit I can barely shade a top nicely and sculpties are WAY beyond me, so this just seems to distance me further. Building stuff for avatars is the only reason I truly like being here, and soon, what I build just simply won't be good enough. It barely is already! I love the innovation, but I wish it wasn't so hard to do
  4. To explain to Immy, in a 1:30 video you used the words "so like" and "just like" at least 15 times. Give people some patience and they will repay you.
  5. Actually I don't like Imma's style. I never have, but hey, her world her imagination. The woodbury thing did it for me. I offer my RL to my friends and I distance it greatly otherwise. They have no right to my RL info unless I willingly give it. I do give RL info, but if someone is asking me for it and I don't want to give it, then they choose to get angry with me about it? Their loss, plain and simple. Truth be told, the only people who have demanded that kinda stuff from me are people who are into a sexual side of SL. Even though my profile clearly states that I don't do that, they find me weird. What more can I say?? Happy in RL?? Must be tapped! )
  6. and to be honest, I don't care if my home island is deserted. I have a nice view over the river and for the most part I can have my privacy there. What more would I want for 117 prims, the same as I would get for my land allowance, only any building in it would take up prims that I need? Sorry Pussycat, but when it comes down to the small non-merchant SL user, Linden homes win every time.
  7. but the home doesn't count agaainst the prim allowance as it does on land. I get a nice home for zero prims.
  8. Once you've abandoned it, you can't backpedal and change your mind. You might be able to ask for the same as you had before, get lucky and get the same place, but it's not guaranteed You can abandon your Linden home 5 times in a day, but if you choose the same style twice, chances are you'll repeat your last choice and lose a go.
  9. Mine looks about 30 and is not the standard "pretty" avatar...I get told often enough I could improve it, the cheeky sods. I just made her to suit me. I didn't really think about how old she is, so in that respect, no, I don't think I could dress her better. She is me and I am her, by personality, taste and habits. I prefer it that way
  10. Hopefully it means it whacks it straight into your inventory, so that nothing gets lost if you are capped.
  11. I thought this looked nice. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Together-Inc-Gwyneth/470393
  12. I do this differently. I use the pen tool to draw round the edge, then right click on the path and use stroke path. I have my brush set at around 4 pixels and choose brush. Leave the lil selection box in the popup that comes up unticked and click ok. It gives me smooth edges every time, and I can use the path again with different brush sizes to create things like stitching. It may not be the correct way to do it but it works a treat. BTW, if you hold alt and click on your last pen point, you dont end up dragging the whole thing around, just the curve you're creating in that movement.
  13. You don't need to pay for this. Look here: http://mistressofdesign.wordpress.com/2008/10/07/rgb-theta-photoshop-plug-in-for-sl-fake-bake/ for a tutorial on how to create it, or at the bottom of the page, you can just take hers. They are sized at 512 but you can resize them if you need to. Change the blending option on the layer. I use multiply for normal use but muck around with it. Some look very good for latex. A wee bit of smoothing and bob's your uncle If you want to do it yourself, I made videos of Claire's tutorial. You can find them here:
  14. Heya Torley, I had some time to kill today so I went on a search for hair. I now own far too much of the stuff and it's all your fault. Anyway, while I cou;dn't find an exact match, I did find some very similar ones. Starting with the most similar, this creator might be up your street. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Tukinowaguma-Tanned-Demo/18347 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Tukinowaguma-Tweedy-Demo/18321 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Tukinowaguma-Arwen-SH-Ebony/1569388 The inworld store is here http://slurl.com/secondlife/Tukinowaguma/154/129/21 Truth also have a style called Nicola, which is a looser version of it. I'm guessing you've already tried Truth but I'll put it here anyway. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/TRUTH-Nicola-DEMO/16294 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Truth%20Hair/104/43/26 I'm all looked out for today but I hope these help. Edited to add: I've been through all the updos on the MP now and the only other similar one I could find was this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/MT-Hairstyle-Gretchen-Oper-Bag/2038004 It doesn't have the soft bangs, but maybe that could be fixed with a hairbase? I've fallen in love with Tweedy, so I'm off inworld to see if it suits me. Toodle pip.
  15. Oh now you're talking! I spent half the day looking for this choker on the Marketplace out of sheer boredom. Try VIOLATOR (Marketplace URL:https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/34454 ) http://slurl.com/secondlife/Violator%20HQ/147/114/22 (inworld). There's also [bubble]: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/32833or inworld: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sintoma/121/119/25 Or Xanimations: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/18399or inworld http://slurl.com/secondlife/Causality/125/206/27 I searched everything from collar to ruff to choker to leaf to feather to bracer to necklace to...meh...ya get the message. ;)bubble's are closest IMO but violator have some really nice dramatic stuff. If you iz rich that is
  16. I had a nosy on the Marketplace and this is not the same, but similar: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Medieval-8-colors-braid-flexi-hair-resize-script-NEW/316769 Also, if you can persuade this creator: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/67548, to mix the styles "Milk" and "Lovage" I think it may be spot on.
  17. Yep Wade. That's kinda what I was trying to say only you said it so much better.
  18. Well hellers Torley if you need bangs (fringes where I come from), you just bob yourself along to Analog Dog and buy some. I thought you had more in you than to give up on the first attempt.
  19. Personally, I read this differently. I read it as LL providing the "free labour pool" for creators to dip into. I think they're saying that in order for a competitor to provide that platform, they would have to spend gazillions. Also, it's a "free labour pool" in that you have all your designers and creators and graphic artists sitting there waiting to be poached by companies who want that kinda thing. Nice to have them all in one "pool" donchya think?
  20. Oh, you could also join the group Flash Dancers. They send out notices for gigs and events and you turn up and flashmob dance at them. Great fun.
