  1. Happily I just announced to the group I represent, that our community will participate in the Forever Tourist Passport Game. I think Promises to be a super fun thing and provide our community with some exposure to more people. Kudos to Feorie and her team.
  2. I am mostly just concerned with where the modern homes will be located and will they add to SL navigable waters? Really interesting observations on the role of the Linden homes. It seems sensible that they are intended as starter homes. But I do think they are intended to keep people in SL and paying the premium fee. That has got to be gold for LL. If he persons to get smitten by SL and venture off onto larger parcels and private islands then so much the better. If they just keep paying the annual fee, that is good too. For my part, I think the more people coming into SL he better. If the Linen home work at keeping people in SL then good. I think it remains to be seen if Linden homes hurt the mainland or private estates. In so far as this project has connected the continents and added a lot of navigable water, it has made SL more attractive.
  3. I believe the shortest route to add sailable water between the continents would but to add about 18 water regions up the west coast of Satori from Carmine Sky. I personally would prefer if they added regions on the east coast, but doing so would require more regions than that side.
  4. Come check out a great selection of parcels in the CDS. The regions are are designed with an alpine or Italian theme. Many sizes to choose from. Common language is English, but members come from all over the world to take part in this cooperative. Start your journey at Neufreistadt and wander down one of SL's most impressive mountains. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Neufreistadt/160/181/173
  5. The Confederation of Democratic Simulators has a number of open parcels of various sizes. All are very reasonable. The themes are Northern Europe Alpine and Italian. Check it out. The SLURL is for the Marketplatz at Neufreistadt. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Neufreistadt/160/181/173. And the common language is English, but we have members from all over the world. Mostly it is of North America and Europe.
  6. If you are interested in hiking a big mountain, try the regions of Alpine Meadow, Monastery, Friedsee and Neufreistadt in the Confederation of Democratic Simulators. There is a road that follows the two region long mountain stream that tumbles its way down the mountainside. There is also a marked trail through the woods past the old Monastery and over the mountain to Friedsee. It's all worth exploring. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Alpine Meadow/93/163/67
  7. It's my understanding that some groups around the Blake, NYC and USS and probably others had agreements when the Blake was created and they made a considerable investment in Second Life. You might be encountering one such agreement. If so, they have been granted a right to Rez, and use the waterway.
  8. Thanks for the info. I lost a dear fiend and wondered if they still memorialized people at the Memorial Garden. I suppose it would be too much work. But think you for your offer. We have a place on our sim to memorialize lost members. I will be content with that.
  9. It appears that the Memorial Park still isn't working. I am not even able to touch the prim to create a flower.
  10. Join us right now was we dance on the Platz in Neualtenburg for Oktoberfest. We celebrate 13 years in SL. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Neufreistadt/154/182/173

  14. On Saturday, 29 April 2017, at 8AM, we will install the new Rathaus constructed by Mizou Vavoom. Our late founder, Kendra Bancroft, created the old Rathaus in 2005 and the building has held a venerable place in our hearts and minds over the years. Still the Rathaus has become unusable and an unfavorable meeting place for the community. Our new Rathaus will be a showpiece for the community, sit proudly at the top of our Marketplatz and offer an excellent space for illustrating our community and community meetings. Join with me and Mizou for the installation and dedication of the New Rathaus, this Saturday at 8AM SLT on the Neufreistadt Marketplatz.Mizou and I would like to thank all the citizens who commented and offered suggestions and support for this endeavor. Special thanks to the members of the Representative Assembly and the Guild. Many of you instantly took a positive interest in this project. Thank you, Tor Karlsvalt Chancellor of the CDS

  20. Actually, in 2004, some SL residents did just what you describe. The Confederation of Democratic Simulators is the result of that experiment first at Anzere then at Neualtenburg which was later named Neufreistadt. Today the CDS consists of six regions, four full regions and two homestead regions: Neufreistadt (amoung the oldest private islands in SL), Colonia Nova, Alpine Meadow, Locus Amoenus, Monastery, and Friedsee. The citizens of CDS elect officers to administer and pass laws. Generally it has done well, but alas it does struggle in todays weak SL enviroinment. Still it is solvent, enjoyes beautiful sims and many highly motivated community members who build, keep beutiful houses, maintain the sims, engage in planning for the sim and their own projects. Benefits to the CDS are a voice in the operation of the estate, a chance to actually administer an estate without owning one, an opportunity to be part of a democratic experiment in a virtual world, participate in encouraging art and creativity and just gaining many new, inteligent friends from all over the world. So if you are at all interested, check us out in world or on the web at: http://portal.slcds.info. Of on FB. Our sims are open to all visitors for walking, riding or bicycling. We have many interesting publich buildings to tour. So come visit, hang out at one of our meetings and experience the only democratically governed estate in Second Life that has been going strong since 2004. Yours, Tor Karlsvalt Chancellor of the CDS
  21. We have been seeing this in the Confederaton of Democratic Simulators. So far as many as seven have appreard in the last two monhts. Most of these have been banned. But what are they for? Pictures, mapping? All are new AVs and the few I have actually seen are using the new mesh AVs. Some are vampire AVs. They rezz perhaps hundreds of times in the sims every day. They rezz, then poof, only staying for 15 or 20 seconds. As far as we can tell, they serve no purpose.
  22. What are the reasons one might set land for sale to one's self, or to anyone for an outragiously expensive price? I see this done from time to time and wonder the reasons for it.
  23. Hi Will, Yes, the Confederation of Democratic Simulators has been a democracy in Second Life for almost 10 years. We were founded as Neualtenburg in September 2004. A dispute with a founder required us to change the name of our island to Neufreistadt. Since then we have added four regions: Colonia Nova, Alpine Meadow, Locus Amoenus and Monastery. At present we have over 70 citizens. We are in the midst of a special election for Chancellor. Despite what one may think, we are indeed a resident governed estate. Come check us out. We would look upon your endeavor with interest and support your efforts.
  24. It isn't working for me. Not well anyway. Everything else on my iMac has improved, but performance of second life has been severely degraded. I just moved my performance slider in Firestorm from Mid to Low Mid. That has been a great improvement, especially for typing. Alas, my make is from 2009. I guess my NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 256 MB graphics card just does't cut it while running Mavericks.
