  1. Holiday Greetings from the Confederation of Democratic Simulators! And what could make your holiday more magical than a snow retreat in the mountains of the CDS! Our rustic mountain splendor is covered in a soft, sparkling blanket of snow. Looking at these parcels, you just feel the cares and stress of RL melt away. Make our Alpine Regions your home for the holidays and beyond. Springtime in the mountains is just as magical. Our parcels are double prim and buffered from other parcels by common land. Forested land abounds for skiing and hiking. We have wonderful trails for horseback riding. Explore the villages and heritage of CDS, one of SLs oldest estates and communities (we have a prim from 2004). C.D.S. is a fantastic value! 4. Do openspaces allow the use of landmarks? While on an Openspace, I am able to make an LM, but when I use it, I rezz in a nearby region at the same latitude if you will. I was wondering if the prohibition on events in an Openspace results in landmarks not working.

  10. Does anyone know if there is a link to the old SL Forum, prior to 2010?
  11. Alpine Meadow is the third oldest of our regions. It transitions from the high mountain environment to the lowlands of Colonia Nova. Terraced parcels surround the tumbling mountain stream that runs across the entire region. Parcels are both small and very large. Most are bounded by a buffer of common land on two or more sides. All enjoy a double prim bonus and so have more LI than you would expect in similarly sized parcels. Common land offers privacy, hiking, horseback riding, and sledding. You and your friends will love Alpine Meadow and all the regions of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators. Enjoy all four seasons in Alpine Meadow. 14. When Mon, June 27, 9am – 11am. SLT or PDT Where: Amiais 1 (Amiais Village Center) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//89/197/37 The Amiais Project explores ways to help small traditional Portuguese villages, in this case, Amiais, to connect to the outer world in a playful and informative manner. It was developed by Beta Technologies and owned by Universidade de Aveiro. CDS is arranging the opening event. Zoree Jupiter will sing her native Fado and Joao Frazao will play the ukulele (which began as a traditional Portuguese instrument!) and the guitar as well as sing. If you want to explore before the event here is the slurl. Be sure to interact with the bots enroute. Have a translator handy! For more information go to Locus Project.
  15. I suspect one reason this better connections between the continents is just the huge investment LL is putting into the Belleseria expansion. That has done a lot to connect the continents. I think if they looked at this the CLPP rules could be relaxed and in many instances private sims could help fill in the connections at no cost to LL. Indeed, many of the multi sim estates might even add sims to connect to the mainland while keeping enough distance from it to maintain their island land value.
  16. Locus Amoenus (A Nice Place) is the 4th oldest region of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, (CDS). It has evolved from being an Ancient Greek/Roman sim into a more rural seaside Tuscan sim set at about the beginning of the 20th century. Wonderful seaside and riverside parcels abound. Several are at the sim edge and boast a small beach below dramatic cliffs. We have water parcels on the river where you can live on a boat or houseboat. Locus Amoenus would be a delightful place to call home. The houses in the town areas do not count against your land impact and are ready for moving in. All parcels in Locus Amoenus have a double prim bonus. Check out available land online at: https://www.casperpanel.com/rentals/EBqr62nTckP1ooQw/available. 17. Neufreistadt (New Free City) is the oldest region of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, (CDS). A delightful Medieval, Post-modern Bavarian town commands the mountain and overlooks a lush alpine valley. Explore the imposing Schloss with its secret passages and majestic ballroom. Don’t wander into the dark side of the Schloss. You might never find your way out of the dungeons. Enjoy a beer at the Biergarten and explore the treasures in the Museum of Contemporary Art. Neufreistadt offers a lot for visitors and residents to enjoy and use. Presently, there are four spacious parcels available in the valley. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Neufreistadt/71/78/126 This would be a delightful place to call home in SL. Neufreistadt has all four seasons. And we enjoy seasonal activities all year. The houses in the town of Neufreistadt do not count against your land impact and are ready for moving in. 18. You might look at the Confederation of Democratic Simulators. The CDS has six regions. The themes are Bavarian/Alpine and Mediterranean. The town of Neufreistadt is a Bavarian town largely consisting of Fachwerke. There is also the town of Colonia Nova. Also in Colonia Nova there is a fishing village district of Stella Marina. Locus Amoenus is a seaside community and also as a small village of Luna Marina. You might want to explore the CDS. One good place to start is the center of Neufreistadt: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Neufreistadt/160/181/173 For more information about the CDS go to https://cdsdemocracy.org.
  19. Always a good idea to open your mini map when sailing. Also right click on the map and under Show, click on property lines. You will want this so you can easily spot the Blake Sea Rez Areas in every NE corner of Blake Sea regions. The mini map will also show areas where you can Rez in blue while parcels with ban lines will be red.
  20. "ART that moves | ART that moves us", is an exhibition curated by Kyoko Furse-Barzane, drawn from the MoCA and her own collection. The premise is that movement is not just physical, but also emotional. The exhibit is still available at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA), Neufreistadt, CDS. 22. Belonging to a sim that is interested in education, mostly related to the democracy in a virtual world, I thought I would check this thread out. But it seems very inactive. I imagine educators or communities with an interest in education find other means of communication. Or is there a lack of interest?
  23. Enjoy Second Life in a quaint fishing village with views of the sea and distant mountains. Stella Marina is a district of Colonia Nova of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators (CDS). 24. I was a new sailor in SL not too long ago and fond the LCC to be a wonderful organization full of helpful and generous and diverse people. Indeed, many of the group make their water parcels available to everyone as rezz zones. Very likely, one day you will find your self stranded and lost without a boat and looking for a yellow LCC sign on the map where you can rezz. Yes the group does get strung out over the course, and some of the courses can be challenging, but that is part of the fun.
