  5. On Saturday, 29 April 2017, at 8AM, we will install the new Rathaus constructed by Mizou Vavoom. Our late founder, Kendra Bancroft, created the old Rathaus in 2005 and the building has held a venerable place in our hearts and minds over the years. Still the Rathaus has become unusable and an unfavorable meeting place for the community. Our new Rathaus will be a showpiece for the community, sit proudly at the top of our Marketplatz and offer an excellent space for illustrating our community and community meetings. Join with me and Mizou for the installation and dedication of the New Rathaus, this Saturday at 8AM SLT on the Neufreistadt Marketplatz.Mizou and I would like to thank all the citizens who commented and offered suggestions and support for this endeavor. Special thanks to the members of the Representative Assembly and the Guild. Many of you instantly took a positive interest in this project. Thank you, Tor Karlsvalt Chancellor of the CDS

  11. Actually, in 2004, some SL residents did just what you describe. The Confederation of Democratic Simulators is the result of that experiment first at Anzere then at Neualtenburg which was later named Neufreistadt. Today the CDS consists of six regions, four full regions and two homestead regions: Neufreistadt (amoung the oldest private islands in SL), Colonia Nova, Alpine Meadow, Locus Amoenus, Monastery, and Friedsee. The citizens of CDS elect officers to administer and pass laws. Generally it has done well, but alas it does struggle in todays weak SL enviroinment. Still it is solvent, enjoyes beautiful sims and many highly motivated community members who build, keep beutiful houses, maintain the sims, engage in planning for the sim and their own projects. Benefits to the CDS are a voice in the operation of the estate, a chance to actually administer an estate without owning one, an opportunity to be part of a democratic experiment in a virtual world, participate in encouraging art and creativity and just gaining many new, inteligent friends from all over the world. So if you are at all interested, check us out in world or on the web at: http://portal.slcds.info. Of on FB. Our sims are open to all visitors for walking, riding or bicycling. We have many interesting publich buildings to tour. So come visit, hang out at one of our meetings and experience the only democratically governed estate in Second Life that has been going strong since 2004. Yours, Tor Karlsvalt Chancellor of the CDS
  12. We have been seeing this in the Confederaton of Democratic Simulators. So far as many as seven have appreard in the last two monhts. Most of these have been banned. But what are they for? Pictures, mapping? All are new AVs and the few I have actually seen are using the new mesh AVs. Some are vampire AVs. They rezz perhaps hundreds of times in the sims every day. They rezz, then poof, only staying for 15 or 20 seconds. As far as we can tell, they serve no purpose.
  13. What are the reasons one might set land for sale to one's self, or to anyone for an outragiously expensive price? I see this done from time to time and wonder the reasons for it.
  14. Hi Will, Yes, the Confederation of Democratic Simulators has been a democracy in Second Life for almost 10 years. We were founded as Neualtenburg in September 2004. A dispute with a founder required us to change the name of our island to Neufreistadt. Since then we have added four regions: Colonia Nova, Alpine Meadow, Locus Amoenus and Monastery. At present we have over 70 citizens. We are in the midst of a special election for Chancellor. Despite what one may think, we are indeed a resident governed estate. Come check us out. We would look upon your endeavor with interest and support your efforts.
  15. It isn't working for me. Not well anyway. Everything else on my iMac has improved, but performance of second life has been severely degraded. I just moved my performance slider in Firestorm from Mid to Low Mid. That has been a great improvement, especially for typing. Alas, my make is from 2009. I guess my NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 256 MB graphics card just does't cut it while running Mavericks.
  16. The Confederation of Democratic Simulators: Roman Regions Colonia Nova Region Coloinia Nova is one of the first Roman themed sims of Second Life. Colonia Nova was established in October 2006 as a representation of Roman Cologne, Germany which was known to the Romans as Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium. The region is divided between an urban walled city and surrounding countryside. It includes some impressive public buildings such as a bath, amphitheater and catacomb. The city walls are perhaps the cities dominant feature and are representative of the walls surrounding the Roman city at about 50 AD. Our Roman regions are not role play sims. 17. Really, finding my homeland sim has given me a great many interesting friends and associates. As it is a democratic and resident run sim, many of us take a keen interest in the the development of builds and events. Often I find working in SL for my little homeland community a rewarding experience. Also, some of us are rather accomplished but never snooty. In addition our group hales from all over Europe and North America. We even have one person living in China. So if you are interested come visit the regions of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators. For more information check out our website at: http://portal.slcds.info or facebook site at: https://www.facebook.com/SLCDS?ref=hl.

  19. The Confederation of Democratic Simulators is the oldest democracy in Second Life. Originally founded in 2004 as the City of Neualtenburg in the Anzere region, the Confederation of Democratic Simulators (C.D.S.) is now a five-region community operated by the citizens. The five C.D.S. sims are: Neufreistadt, Colonia Nova, Alpine Meadows, Monastery and Locus Amoenus. The sims have loosely based Germanic or Roman themes, representing different historic periods. There are many fine parcles available for purchace in all our regions. All parcels convey votiing rights in our resident governed estate. This is an execellant opportunity to become part of a community in second life. For detailed information on some available parcels see our marketplace store at: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/130883 For information about our community and history of our estate see our portal at: http://portal.slcds.info or our facebook site at: https://www.facebook.com/SLCDS?ref=hl
  20. And yet, as adult expands SL declines. I suppose one could say Adult has saved SL from total collapse as perhaps these regions would just have been lost if they could not be adult. I wonder if LL has any idea of the impact of the growth of Adult regions? I might also be true that a reliance on Adult, presumable sex, for SL's financial health might also supress many others from joining SL.
  21. Congratulations on your venture. I invite you to investigate the community I belong to, The Confederation of Democratic Simulators. We are made up of five regions: Neufreistadt, Colonia Nova, Alpine Meadow, Monastery and Locus Amoenus. We were originally established in 2004 at Anzere, but in June 2005 moved to the private island of Neufreistadt, formerly called Neualteburg. We are a representative democracy with a Chancellor as head of government and a Represetative Assembly. You are welcome to look at our portal for more infomation: http://portal.slcds.info. Good luck with your community.
  22. Hi I see that my ad was recently removed from the market place as a non-item listing. Yet the listing was for land on a private island and the key words all applied to our sim. Perhaps that might not seem so, but our sim is organized as a democratically governed micro-nation. There are five regions, three are alpine and two are Roman/Greek. The first sim, one of the oldest in SL, Neufreistadt, is a Bavarian town. We have regular elecions where citizens vote. The sim is very mountainous with three of the simb being alpine in theme. I do not remember all the keywords I used, but I think this descirption explains most or all of them. To me, the ad is similar to others on the Marketplace. It would be nice if one got an explanation for an acton to remove an ad. Merely pointing to a general section of the policy does not explain how that policy is being applied or inform one of the problem with the ad. Therefore, please reconsider your action to remove my ad or explain exactly what was wrong with it.
