  1. I have a lot of sympathy with your sentiments stated. I dislike Mesh too, especially mesh clothing which never fits and is too dammed fussy with all that alpha layer nonsense. Every so often I try to give it the benefit of the doubt and everytime I end up feeling I have just thrown good money after bad. Thankfully there are still a lot of good, well detailed nicely rendered system outfits still available however looking through the main pages of the marketplace there is clearly a huge glut of the IMO inferior mesh offerings most likely because most folks are sheep and tend to follow the crowd with LL pointing the way and many merchants following over themselves to satisfy the swarms demands. We reap what we sow. ^L^
  2. I'm with you there all the way Czari. In fact going back further, I confess to actually missing v 1.23, since then every official LL viewer since then has been a down hill race to the bottom. It's the UI that really is an abysmal mess. When V2 was introduced they boasted that it was an ex Adobe employee who had imported his expertise and thus inferred that everyone who hated and still hate the look and interface were off their rockers or Luddites. To the OP - follow the advice of everyone else on the thread go for one of the third party viewers. They are still ham strung by having to work with V3 code so some of the terrible communication features have to be included but they overall have managed to fashion a silk purses of sorts out of a pig's ear. ^L^
  3. "why was this link removed in the first place?" Good Question but I'm pretty certain we are more likely to get an answer to the secret of life the universe and everything before LL give out an answer for this irrational calculated deletion. ^L^
  4. Scrub my last comment the L$ balance has suddenly reappeared. Must have been a glitch in the the system!
  5. How about restoring the persistent L$ balance display to the top bar like it was before. That was yet another very handy and useful feature that has been done away with. Not a good idea and more likely to discourage impulse purchases. Instead, it's not until one clicks to buy that the L$ available balance is displayed. ^L^
  6. I was under the impression that there was indeed a secret cabal of hand chosen merchants they talked to from time to time. Sworn to secrecy through a non disclosure clause with the threat of hanging by piano wire and surrendering their first born. Way back in the market place early days just before they abandoned communicating with merchants here and in office hours they announced that they would choose groups of merchants for focus group sessions. I've never heard or seen who got the invites but I'm pretty sure they chose folks who were happy to tell them what they wanted to hear rather than what they really needed to. Maybe we'll be lucky and a whistleblower might pipe up one day in another forum in another place and reveal some of the secret circle conversations. ^L^
  7. "they've added the ratings to that right side column" Classic ! I never noticed that they slipped the ratings thing into the right hand side. So they have removed one very useful button/tool that many merchants relied upon and duplicated another which is of questionable value considering the rampant gaming of ratings that really goes on. Trivial tinkering. Anything to avoid actually fixing things like the borked 'Reports' section or improving the attrocious inventory workflow experience that they dumped on us when Xstreet was closed. ^L^
  8. I've just spotted the missing 'revise' and it it really is a pain in the proverbial. I regularly relied on that feature to make quick ammendments as it was much more convenient than ploughing through the abysmal and depressing inventory page. You can always trust the commerce team to rob us of all the most useful features that actually save us time. It seems to me that the marketplace devs and geeks have no idea what the merchants they serve really require in the way of tools to aid commerce. ^L^
  9. I'm not absolutely sure about this but I have a feeling that your group 'income' may be paid on a weekly basis. Similar to how it gets processed for group land sales group stipends etc. If thats the case then you will need to check your membership setting as the group income can potentially be distrubuted amongst the other members. It's worth joining with an alt to see for yourself what processes are involved. LL have succeeded in creating a group management structure that could tax the brains of a dozen Einsteins. Good Luck ^L^
  10. When it comes to understanding how the MP team have structured our rankings you might as well turn to casting and reading chicken bones. I believe that even the MP team are clueless as to how our products are ranked. My best guess is, that the team members who mixed the 'relevance' and 'best selling' arcane potions have long gone and taken the secret formula with them. ^L^
  11. Give them a chance - the poor dears have only had 10 years to work out that a company with a global user base requires an international cash out facilities. Now although the US accounts for the largest contingent of SL residents (last census estimates I read was the US represented about 1/3rd of the SL population) meaning that the US SL residents are the significant minority gaining from a financial structure clearly biased towards the US at the cost of the majority of users. Perhaps Americans spend more and thus deserve a better deal - but somehow I get the feeling that it's more a case of LL not prepared to see any further than the US borders except when it comes to raking in the cash. ^L^
  12. No one is fooled by the spin. It's a pile of unmittigated knee jerk LL bull. Never in the history of commerce has there been such an inept lawyer driven company prepared to snatch failure from the jaws of success. I'm disgusted. Bay City gods so they can do no wrong - they think! ^L^
  13. Fret not all may not be lost... Latest Update from Virwox Homepage 2013-05-15: UPDATE regarding changes in Linden Lab's TOS..... Good News: Linden Lab has approached us with a potential solution that would allow us to serve our customers within the bounds of the updated Second Life Terms of Service. We are in discussions with them and look forward to being able to share more information very soon. ---------- Looks like speedy cash outs are potentially back on the map. ^L^
  14. I've often remarked over the years that LL oversee the SL community in a manner and with principals that are ruthlessly similar to those with which the Chinese government controls their own population. So petitions will mean diddly squat to the Battery Street boys and girls. Although I do have a lot of sympathy for the sentiments behind the petion. Funny that Anche, a company with it's home base firmly in the Peoples Republic of China is the only exchange that is still up and running and is also the least transparent of all the exchange operations. Something stinks about this whole LL initiative but I guess it will be months before we ever find out what... if ever. ^L^
  15. Here's the latest Virwox status update (My Bold).... 2013-05-11: UPDATE regarding changes in Linden Lab's TOS Linden Lab has recently changed their Terms of Service. As a result, we are currently not able to offer our service to Second Life residents. This means that our in-world terminal can currently not accept Linden Dollars from Second Life and there can be no payouts of Linden Dollars to Second Life. Other currencies are not affected. If you have Linden Dollars on your VirWoX account, you may still exchange them to another currency and request a payout. We are working towards a solution and will post updates here as the situation develops. Please refrain from sending us support messages about this issue, at the moment we will not be able to give you more information. Thank you for your patience and understanding. ------------ So they are cashing out as normal - (to be expected) and still accepting L$ conversions to other virtual world currencies. So anyone who has their lindens parked in Virwox can still access them and realise their value - they just can't send them back for use in SL without cashing out first and buying again through Lindex. I don't think Virwox have an an arrangement with Inworldz but they do deal with Avination C$ and Open Metaverse OMC I find the 'We are working towards a solution' statement quite intriguing which indicates that there may be some compromise available and could explain why the powerful Anche organisation are keeping calm and carrying on as normal http://www.anshex.com/second_life_linden ^L^
  16. Clearly they have forgotten or were never taught the 'Do unto others as you would have them do to you' golden rule of life. ^L^
  17. Hot of the press from the Vitwox home page...... 2013-05-09: UPDATE on changes in Linden Lab's TOS Linden Lab has recently changed their Terms of Service. Under the new rules, we will no longer be able to offer our service to Second Life residents. Linden Lab insists that our in-world terminals (ATMs) have to be removed. This means that we can currently not accept Linden Dollars from Second Life or pay Linden Dollars to Second Life. Other virtual currencies are not affected. ------------------ So if you have a stash of L$s sitting in an exchange either waiting to be sold or just banked then I guess they are gone now for good. I wonder how many millions of Lindens will be written off because of this action and how many residents are going to find themselves out of pocket. Not to mention a number of folks who will be added to the dole que. I don't understand why LL didn't give advance notice and a cut off date to the community - well actually I do but stating it here would require distinctly unparliamentary lanquage and get me banned. ^L^
  18. I'm a huge supporter of the underdog andI know the MP Team really love us and are working their fingers to the bone 24/7 in order to provide us with a service we are paying for that is second to none. Yes I'm aware of the grid status concerning logins but the issues concerning the persistent display of the 'So sorry' Page are mostly related to the merchant listing tools when trying to update a listing, add or replace a one. For example it's not recommended to try and remove more than one item at a time cause the tiny little marketplace brain is incapable of computing multiple removals even though the page sugests it does. The regular reoccurrence of the error page is not only incredibly irritating, it is misleading insult to our intelligence and indication that something is severely amiss with their coding. Having given up hope that Team MP will ever improve the merchants tools, at the very least they could come up with a page that more accurately and honestly reflects whats going on. ^L^
  19. Wow proof indeed if I ever doubted that Real Life is far stanger than fiction as can be seen from their mission statement "We work fast. Many tech startups claim as much, but we started typing this sentence 10 seconds from now." And as LL along with the usual suspects are listed as their backers I now understand why we keep getting that awful 'We'll get right back' message - It's just that the MP Team haven't seen any of the error reports because they haven't happened yet - slaps head and wonders what it must be like to live in the Bay City dimension where work is paid for with cupcakes and coffee credits. ^L^
  20. You know I must be an odd bod but in the year or so since DD came around I have never once looked the contents pane and I do quite a bit shopping. It doesn't even register in my head that I can inspect the contents. I don't really care how my stuff arrives so long as I get it. Personally I prefer boxes and always will. I feel folders delivered direct are lazy and boring but then I'm old school I like to rezz and get surprises and enjoy seeing that comforting items 'coming in too fast 'message that reassures me that all is well in our wonky world. And to echo what Pamela said in another thread I tend to buy things prop them up against my studio wall and leave there until I have the time to check them out. The big friendly pictures and quirky boxes help remind me that they are there. Bland Folders that just sit in my boated inventory don't stand out and get easily forgotten. ^L^
  21. Perhaps the MP team inhabit an alternative dimension where time is contracted exponentially so that the more frequently the dreaded 'We'll be right back' message occurs the faster they believe they are responding however no one has explained to them that 1 second of their time elapsed aproximates 6 months of ours. Personally I feel it's just a severe case of 'head in sand' ^L^
  22. "We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly." Hey Team MP - It's getting boring now! ^L^
  23. Because I have recently moved our store location in world I am currently having to replace all my listings to remove the old landmark. I can personally confirm through hard experience that the marketplace merchants tools are designed to sap your will to live. The marketplace functionality is borked. I'm not conplaining about the system or methodology but rather the slooooooooow server processing time and the recurring 'sorry to keep you waiting messages' it must be the single most visited page on the Marketplace and yet in spite of all the times it is registered, the marketplace team seem to have done nothing to improve the work flow. 25 minutes just to update a single box at what is about 3 am on the West coast so hardly a server overload. So I have nothing but sympathy for your troubles loading items the problem is repeated time and again across the whole merchant community. Knock Knock - wake up market place devs - something is broken. ^L^
  24. LOL - I guess there is nothing particularly important going on in the world these days ! ^L^
