  3. As the author of yesterday's thread that has now been removed it would have been nice to have been notified that my thread and post had been deleted as is the usual custom and the reasons as to why. If it was an offending subsequent post or posts then why weren't they deleted and the thread allowed to remain in tact as is also the usual practice? I'll repeat what I said yesterday, Void's contact/support list is far more thorough and useful to residents than the present sticky atop. Time for someone in the moderation/forum team to make the smart call and swap them around. P.S. Thanks Venus for spotting this and re-posting.

Lord of the Rings; yes, I read the Hobbit, long before the movie. The Buidlings in the Harry Potter movies are amazing, I would love tobuild a Region with builds as cool as those. Dan Brown's book Angels & Demons inspires me to try to add estoric elements to my builds as in the great buildings in Europe. The facility at Cern is very impressive as described in the book. A short story by Lois Duncan titled Locked In Time. Another Asimove is Fantastic Voyager, (later made into an 80's movie called Inner Space) The Movie Back to the Future Star Trek Quantum Leap I haven't seen the movie Avatar yet, I might Heretic! LoTR and The Hobbit are two different books and movies.
  5. JeanneAnne wrote: In my opinion, Master Jedi, you romanticize SL in particular, and virtual worlds in general, far more than they deserve. You call SL a "3-D reality"? It isn't real. It's virtual. It may look 3-D but that's only a clever programming illusion. Try sticking your hand thru your computer's monitor if you think the three dimensionality is real. Jeanne OK I'll concede the point, but you owe me a monitor and a box of Band Aids.

  8. One simple thing to bat the ball into LL's court. Every quarter or bi annually LL puts up a survey at the login screen asking what residents (their customers) want to see addressed, introduced, fixed etc. Options would be drawn from say the top 10 voted for JIRAS, a conflated/collated series of 5-10 suggestions posted by residents in a suggestion box option from the previous quarterly or bi annual survey. The results would be public and a response or course of intended action from LL would be attached to each point. People may think that the JIRA option is being unnecessarily replicated, but I know many people inworld who bitch and moan about things and don't even know what the JIRA is or that it exists so it would only add to the weight of numbers asking for action. I don't expect it to be revolutionary or solve things immediately, but LL will be clear on what we want as customers and we will be clear on when they intend to do something or why they are not going to do it.

  14. Yes I've found many communities in world that I value being part of, but I like being part of this forum community more or value it more rather. Because I hear opinions and views from those people and communities I don't associate with inworld and I learn from it. I may not agree with their views and I may not like them personally, but I am wiser and enriched from the experience. This is a valuable thing yes? Also in the forum I can get an answer to a problem, feedback or just general information a lot quicker than asking LL and that is something that is invaluable and is provided by a diverse community of people for FREE who just want to see your product this platform work well and to the advantage of as many people, new and old, as possible. This is a valuable thing yes? So Community Manager, have you found communities here and what did you do to help, nourish and enrich them? CTUG meetings cancelled, critics permabanned and valuable helpers forced into exile? Regardless, this community exists and will continue to exist because it is a community that formed itself and continually reforms itself and has managed itself across many fora however anarchically and despite the efforts of some to corral it.
  15. Orca Flotta wrote: The Linden Realms game is absolutely contrary to the slogan of Your World Your Imagination. This is a prefabricated game by LL in a world where all content is supposed to be created by the customers. I guess you can't blame LL for this perversion of their old slogan but probably the customers for their lack of imagination. Next question: do we want/need any noobs in SL which don't find anything more useful to do with their time then playing a primitive game? Yes, LL needs them to populate SL, to spend money, to pay premium fees, to buy land and pay tiers ... but are those "consumers" any good pioneer material? Do they contribute to the development of this new world? Do they create physical or social content? Do they make SL better for you and for me? Rod said at this year's SLCC that LL would only do things in world to either test new tools or showcase what can be done on the platform. Therefore LR is just that, a showcase, it may be that they also tested some tools, who knows. No newb is going to open an account just to try out LR, but it gets them in to the world and engaging with it. From that point on they can start discovering and see what other people have created or how others socialise. As regards your second question, even you know that we need them. Of course they don't contribute at the start, I'd wager a fair amount of money that you didn't either. Like a child, you start by wandering and wondering till one day you learn a skill or find a social niche and then you start contributing. LL's job is to make that path as easy and appealing as it can and if LR is part of that learning and inspiration then all for the good I say. What is the alternative? Drop them in a grey world and say, "Here's a build tool, here's a manual, now start creating to earn your place here!"
  16. Rolig Loon wrote: Yes, there certainly is. You can buy a private estate as a Basic member. With a private estate, you can do much more ambitious terraforming that you can on the mainland, you can design your convenant to be as open or as restrictive as you wish, and you can choose your own sim name, among other things. You also pay more for the monthly fee, of course. :smileywink: ^ This is the correct answer to the question. There would be a $1000 setup fee too to consider, but recently LL have been dropping the setup fees for a limited time offer. The monthly tier is $295
  17. Maryanne Solo wrote: The feeds were a great fun place when little used. Of course the self styled comedians soon followed, so now they are no different from the *coughs humour the community has to contend with here. Until we gets mute of course. So they should remain under used or did you mean used sparingly? The community meetings were closed, well is that no surprise? I have never been to one because from what I could gather, those meetings would be a mirror image of the forums themselves. With all due respect If people were actually contributing anything of substance perhaps they would still be open? The majority would have attended with a view to bettering the communities experience certainly. So they are closed because you and a silent moral majority couldn't be bothered to attend? And what was going to be mirrored if you attended? Apathy? Aloofness, be it either by use of apathetic pontification (FIFY), vexacious comedy to incite and malign, or aspirations of grandeur with commentary fit for Stephen Hawkings personal notepad seems to be the biggest problem. When shared community space is seen by individuals to be of their own making or territory, is where your problems truly begin. No! When people do and say nothing is when problems truly begin. Why does no other forum experience these phenomena to such a detrimental extent? *ponders....

You're going to have to make it worth my while to give up MY FREE TIME. Why on Earth should I give up my free time and my real life for a creator I don't even know? If you went to their shops inworld then you would see their freebie packages, which they can't put on MP meaning you could buy no items and get lots of things for free. Now your suggestion is catered for and it's better deal than you suggested are you going to go shopping inworld now?

At first she said something to me that was seducing and then all of assudden she appeared to be satan . He was red and had a red long tail with a triangle pointy tail. Also he was trying to grab me. It was weird the time fram was about 3-4am.... Someone translate This is clearly a representation of an inner turmoil regarding your id's sexual identity. Add to this some very suggestive, to the academic mind, Freudian sexual imagery and I think we can cleary surmise what is happening and understand what your id and super ego are trying to resolve and rationalise for your ego. The questions your sub-conscious selfs are asking you are simple and two-fold. Firstly, do you feel that you are intrisically a man or woman in your gender identity regardless of your biological gender? This is exemplified in the representation of woman who has the stature of a male basketball player Secondly, you are trying to resolve your sexual identity vis a vis, regardless of the first question posed, do you feel intrisically attracted to males or females? This conflict is played out by the lesbian's seductive words, which are then contrasted by the Devil (a male) who is forceful in his sexual advances. But hang on you say? Why basketball? A good question! One that leads me to my conclusion and hopefully a resolution. You are having doubts about whether you are in fact male or female in spirit and you are clearly confused about your sexual orientation now and probably into the future and most clinchingly of all you wrap this all up in basketball. It is therefore my conclusion that you are indeed Dennis Rodman! Thank you, I'm here all week, cheap rates and try the veal! [ETA] Damn you to Hades BothamFidor for giving quack conclusions without analysis or charging an appropriate fee!
  22. Are you male or female? I can't really give you a quack quick diagnosis without that vital information.

I think if memory serves me that even in Latin it would be venus for the noun but yeah, veni for the verb. I vote for Venuses following the same rules as losses. Right then! This is getting too geeky even for me! :matte-motes-agape: If you want to be a total pedant then Venus is latin in origin so it's plural would be Veneres. I think though that we were talking about possessive plurals (the Genetive case) in which I think (guessing really) the form remains the same so Veneres would also be the possessive plural too. I am more than prepared to be shot down on that one though.
