  1. Good point! It's probably best if I don't watch on Wednesday then, but it's very unsporting, and a bit of low blow, bringing cute baby animals into it. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
  2. Me too. I think that @Qie Niangao will step up though
  3. Apart from writing a programme to do it, which I very much doubt LL will do, it can only be done by LL if the Invision software already has the feature. Do you know whether or not it has? I don't see necroed threads as a bad thing.
  4. You can TP to an auction plot from its page in the auction. A 512sqm plot measures 32X16. Most 1024s measure 32x32. A 2048 could be 32x64 or somewhere in between. The best way to see a plot in the auction is set your options to View > Land Owners. On the ground, land that's for sale is yellow, but land that's in the auction is purple.
  5. When Linden Homes were introduced, LL claimed that it would give users some experience in owning their own small plot of land, which would encourage them to go out and get larger plots of land. That's what they claimed and, to some extent, it was true, but it wasn't the reason for the Linden Homes. Linden Homes were introduced to encourage people to get premium accounts, which wasn't an unreasonable thing to do. In fact it was a very sensible thing to do. If some of those new premium members then went out and got larger plots of land, then so much the better - LL would have more income. So Linden Homes were brought in in an effort to sell more premium memberships. And they were an improvement to SL. It wasn't restricted in any way. LL were never going to give them to non-premium users, and, of course, premium users could have the same amount of land anyway, without needing to rent from a landlord. Also, it wasn't sim owners who didn't like it. It was land owners who were landlords, and not all landlords owned sims. Some of them thought that they might lose some business on account of Linden Homes, but that's what happens when you're in business. Things change, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Nobody can expect the world (SL or RL) to stay the same just so that their business isn't detrimentally affected. Changes are normal, and the business person has to roll with them.
  6. @AliceEverdark You're doing it all exactly right, by spending time asking, looking, researching, and considering the options. Whatever you decide to do in the immdiate future will probably change over time anyway, but that's ok. We (landowners) all changed our land over time, as we changed what we wanted to do with it, and as we changed the sort of place/area type that we wanted to live in. I recently added a second premium account when LL doubled the tier-free allowance from 512 to 1024, just because I considerd an extra US$10 (approximately) a year to be so cheap for the extra tier-free land. The second premium account isn't touching the 300L a week it receives, so at the end of 12 months, I'll convert it to US$. Over the years I've been in SL, my land has gone from the smallest, up to a whole sim, and back down again - all bit by bit, as I changed what I was doing. The point is that what you decide now doesn't have to last you for years to come. You can chop and change at any time.
  7. Let me get this straight. You want a successful and interesting LL creation (SL) to be converted into being merely a gateway to interesting things that are not LL's creations. A doorman, directing people to interesting things, but not an interesting thing in itself. In other words, you want LL to turn off everything that SL is. Good luck with that lol. Another thing. Who would pay LL to use the gateway when they can just go to each interesting place on their own, without the need of a gateway? I've seen some wacko suggestion made in this forum, but that one takes the biscuit.
  8. It wasn't much of a surprise. Brazil teams ain't wot they use to be.
  9. That crossed my mind when I was writing my post, Qie, but I thought 2 things about it. One is that it could be a while before the new Premium levels come in, and the OP is looking to get set up now. The other is that LL doesn't tend to dump on users these days, so my guess is that those with Premium accounts when the new levels are intorduced won't be worse off than those who get new Premium levels. I could be wrong on both counts though.
  10. You said you're not sure why two Premium accounts can be better, so I'll explain it. A Premium account receives 300L each week, which is 15,600L a year. For that it can have 1024sqm of land tier-free. So the only additional cost is the cost of the land, which should be about 1L per sqm (1024L). 15,600L is the equivalent of approximately US$62. The annual cost of a Premium account is US$72, so the Premium account only costs approximately US$10 per year, but it does mean paying the US$72 up front. With a second Premium account, everything is doubled. You get 2048sqm tier-free, which is what you want, and you get the equivalent of US$124 back through the year. So the cost of two Premium accounts is approximately US$20 per year, but you do have to put up the US$144 cost of the Premium accounts up front. In both cases, you do have to buy the land from its current owner, who might be LL. If it is LL, it will cost you 1L per sqm (2048L), or less if you buy in the auction. Having two Premium accounts doesn't get a quantity discount. What it does do is allow you to have the 2048sqm piece of land that you want free of tier. That's why is was suggested. You said that you are planning to stay in SL for a long time, and you will no doubt want to spend L$ in SL. If you don't want to spend large amounts too soon, two Premuim accounts generate 600L a week income, and managing that can avoid the need to buy L$. Without the income, you will probably be spending US$ on L$ through the year anyway, but not all up front. That's all information for your consideration, but I recommend initailly doing as has been suggested, and get one Premium account and use the Linden Home for a while, until you fully grasp it all. The Linden Homes are currently 512sqm, so, with one Premium account, you'd have a spare, unused, tier-free 512sqm to play with. With that, you could dip your toes into land, and buy a 512 plot just for the experience, and perhaps have a skybox on it, way up in the sky, as a secret hideaway
  11. None of that is true. You are not here to offer your opinions, as you claim. You are here to get yourself noticed, and that's all. You virtually hang a sign around your neck saying, "Notice me, dammit". No swarms attack you. You enter existing swarms and make intentionally contrary statements, none of which are likely to be your claimed genuine opinions. You do it to stand out from the crowd, just so that you will be noticed. It's a very successful tactic, but it's sad that anyone would find it a necessary one to bolster their sense of worth.
  12. I only ever watch the concerts on TV. Is the Vrijhof the square in Maastricht? ETA: I looked it up, and it is that square. The concerts from there are always amazing, but so are are the large concerts anywhere in the world.
  13. You're not the only who learned that, Cindy. I expect it was also news to those who took the penalties too
  14. In which case it would be 20 - the referee isn't counted
  15. I do like the Dutch. I'm a mega fan of Andre Rieu, but I got to like them back in the 90s when I was singing for a living. The Dutch were always out to have fun. That's what I found so likeable about them.
  16. @Alwin Alcott Oh. I assumed your said Belgium because it's your country. I was fooled by my own assumption Agreed. The word 'soccer' is a huge no-no. I don't know if we derailed or not. What was the OP's topic again? I forgot
  17. @Qie Niangao Nice, Qie. Ty. Frontier Linden's detector goes further and gives the user the locations of any temp objects that are found. I could post the script because it's full perms, but I don't know if that would be right or not, so I won't. I'll pass a copy of the detector to anyone who wants to see it though.
  18. I can't say that you are definitely wrong, but you probably are - especially after only just managing to get past Japan by the skin of your teeth The England vs Begium match is nothing to go by as both sides had their 'B' teams playing. I was amazed that Belgium actually scored because, in the first half I was getting angry that Belguim appeared to be making sure they ended up with more yellow cards than England, and so finishing in the prefered 2nd place. Scoring the goal took me very much by surprise - a very pleasant surprise too. I wanted Belgium to win that one so that we'd finish in 2nd place. P.S. I also think it's unlikely that we (England) will bring it home, but you never know. I haven't seen any really good teams this time, so any country that's still in it has a good chance of taking it home.
  19. hehe. It's not easy to get that emotional with such a miss, when you expect to lose anyway - as I did. But it being Henderson made it different, of course. At that stage, I had two things in mind:- 1. It's a penalty shoot-out and we are England 2. We are England (I even had that one in mind as the end of 90 minutes approached, so it was no shock to me that Colombia scored.) From those two, it's very easy not to get your hopes up too high.
